IC-Metros, Capital of Telvira
Prime Minister Edmond Blake looked out the window of his car as it rolled down King’s Road in Metros, the capital of Telvira. All around him were groups of National Guard setting up sandbagged AA gun emplacements. There were posters warning what to do in case of air raids, and signs directing people to the nearest bomb shelter. The capital was on a war footing, no doubt about it.
And there was good reason to be. To the south, the Grand Duchy of Ludolf was becoming increasingly belligerent. Ludolf’s leader, Kaiser Andreas Dietrich was stepping up the rhetoric against Telvira, and there were disturbing reports of military buildups along the Crystal Channel. Several bomber squadrons and quite a bit of Ludolf’s Kreigsmarine (Navy) was being relocated to the Channel ports. There were all sorts of rumors going around, but almost everyone saw a war as inevitable. Except the damn Liberal Party, which had somehow gotten a sizable section of Parliament and kept on slashing away at the military budget. As the car pulled up to the Palace, Blake’s mind was on his family in Proxima. Were they out of range of the bombers? He hoped so.
A few minutes later, Blake was ushered into the East Lounge, and the presence of King Cyrus I. King Cyrus I had gotten Telvira through the Grand War against Pamploma and Samovia. Now it appeared he would have to guide the country through another war. And if anything goes wrong, it’ll be my head they’re calling for. “Hello, Edmond,” King Cyrus rose from his seat by the fireplace. “Anything new on Ludolf?” “According to our intelligence sources, two more wings of He-111 bombers and a squadron of transports were seen arriving at airfield K-7. An additional three squadrons of Me-109 fighters have been deployed to airfield K-14, and three light cruisers, Merkur-class, have been sent to Kazheim. An armored brigade from the 3rd Panzer Division has been spotted going into new barracks near Sieghuln, along with the 42nd Infantry Division.” “Bad news all around, eh?” “Yes, sir. Sir, if they do attack, can we fight them off?” “For the sake of our country, I hope so, Edmond.”
Two Days Later
Blake was woken at 5:45AM by the sounds of air-raid sirens, then by the crump of bombs. “Helen, get the kids and go into the basement!” He ran to the window and looked out. A flight of He-111 bombers passed overhead, illuminated by flames from Proxima’s city center.
As Blake drove his car at breakneck speed towards the Parliament building, he watched as a group of P-51D Mustang fighters rose from an airfield nearby. As he ran into the Chamber, there were shouts resonating from both sides of the Chamber. Blake’s top aide, Charles Sordhuy, ran up to him. “Sir, the bombing began at around 5:30 this morning and has been going on continuosly since then. Metros, Proxima, and Southport have been hit. Nothing from the Kreigsmarine and no troop movements so far, but we expect an invasion is imminent.” “Did Dietrich even declare war?!” “No declaration has been sent as of yet.” “Bastard. What’s the status of our defenses?” “We’ve scrambled our interceptors and we’ve managed to maul a few of their bomber formations. Our bomber squadrons were hit in the opening attacks, so it’s going slower than we would’ve hoped.” “Tell me the minute we get something in the air.” Blake rose to the podium. The Chamber fell silent in anticipation. “Friends, comrades, and representatives of the Telviran people. Today we have been the victim of an unprovoked attack by the Grand Duchy of Ludolf. Their bombers have attacked our cities, and their troops have massed to invade us. But I vow to you, and to the Telviran people, the United Kingdom will be the victor!” Thunderous applause filled the Chamber. Despite this, Blake wondered if he believed his own words.
As the sun rose over Southport, it was obscured by a cloud of aircraft. As the inhabitants looked up, a hail of 500lb and 1,000lb bombs fell on the city, blowing chunks out of buildings and sending the civilians running for the shelters. As National Guard troops desperately built defensive positions, a sea of parachutes replaced the hail of bombs. As Ludolf’s soldiers fell from the sky, the 3rd Panzer Brigade made landfall in barges. By the end of the day, the 11,000 troops of the 14th Fallschirmjaeger Division and the 200 tanks of the 3rd Panzer Brigade were fully deployed. The next morning, the Black Cross flew over Southport.

Field Marshal Karl Skorzenky stepped off the Ju-52 trimotor transport at King Richard Airport in newly captured Southport. An honor guard was lined up at the foot of the ramp, the embodiment of Ludolf’s Whermacht, resplendent in their black kalabash hats, with gleaming Mauser rifles. As Skorzenky touched ground, he was overwhelmed by a sense of awe. The first successful invasion of Telvira, with him at the helm! Surely he would be remembered in history. As he saluted the honor guard he approached a Volkswagen with a driver. “To the headquarters, and fast.” “Yes, Herr Feldmarschal.”
The headquarters for the newly christened Army Group B was located in Southport’s city hall. As Skorzenky entered and returned the various officers’ salutes, he sighted his panzer commander, General Heinrich von Kluge. “Heinrich, today we have entered legend!” “Yes, Feldmarschal. What are your orders?” Skorzenky looked over a map of Telvira. In between Army Group B and the Telviran capital Metros was the James River, situated about 2/3s of the way there. “We drive for the James, General. I want your panzers across that river by the end of the month.” “Yes, Herr Feldmarschal.” von Kluge gave a snappy salute and walked out to give the orders that would send 3rd Panzer Brigade towards the James and the enemy.
In the Atlantic Ocean
The submarine, U-285, was one of the many Type VI U-boats sent to strangle Telvira by sinking it's ships. And with Kaiser Dietrich's new proclamation declaring unrestricted submarine warfare, the U-boat captian had his next prize in sight: A ship from the United States of PA, carrying war materials to Telviran ports. As the ship sailed into his crosshairs, the captain fired a spread of four torpedoes. Then he ordered the U-boat surfaced. If the ship survived, it could be finished off with the U-boats 88mm deck gun.

2 of the Torpedoes hit the Ship, the USNS Mercy, the ship immediately split into 2 pieces, and sank within a few minutes, taking 342 Pennsylvanian Civilians with her, the Pennsylvanian Response was this
3 Days ago, September 8th, 1941, is a Date on which, 342 Civilians were killed in a un-civilised way, a Luden Submarine fired several Torpedos into the USNS Mercy, sinking the vessel within a matter of minutes, after which the submarine left several hundred people to die in the freezing cold waters of the North Atlantic. In Response to this Event, I Ask the Congress, to declare a State of Complete, and Utter War between the Great Country of the United States of Pennsylvania and the Grand Duchy of Luden.
OOC-It's Luden, not Ludolfian, for the record
IC-When Kaiser Dietrich received word of the declaration of war he scoffed. How could a nation that relies on endless debate for government possibly mobilize an army fast? He was sure that Telvira would fall before the first PA soldier stepped foot on a transport.
In Telvira, General von Kluge's panzers reach the James River. But the Telvirans had been trading space for time, and now they were dug in on the east bank. The Luden panzers try again and again to break through, but to no avail. Field Marshal Skorzenky decides to build up his forces for a breakthrough. Meanwhile, the Luftwaffe (Air Force will bomb Metros into the ground, in the hopes of breaking the Telviran spirit. Prime Minister Blake vows to retaliate in kind.

Immediately upon the Declaration of War, Reserves were called up, All Active duty soldiers were told to report to their bases no matter what they were doing. The USPA was gearing for a war, a war it would win.
In Norfolk, the USS Enterprise, a Yorktown Class Fleet Carrier, was forming up with 8 Transport ships, carrying the only availiable Division to send over, the 17th Airborne, in the Fleet were
USS Enterprise CV-5
2 Northampton Class CAs
5 Cleveland Class CLs
32 Destroyers of Various Classes
23 Destroyer Escorts of Various Classes
8 Victory Ships
The Fleet was due to Arrive within 1 week, the 17th Airborne was not a Overly Powerful force, but it was well suited enough to help the Telvirans hold the line until more powerful Army Units could be sent over.
OOC-for the record, the country name is Ludolf. Luden is the adjective (ie Luden forces from the country of Ludolf) like German things are from Germany, Luden things are fro Ludolf. Just wanted to clear that up

Residents of the Supreme Chairman
Looking over the city from his balcony the chairman quietly read the news paper over a cup of tea "So the worlds at war, now I bet some ones going to bark on our door, don't you think so Jack?" the chairman asked folding the top half of the newspaper over to look at the man sitting across from him. His name was Jack Tennyson, one of the chairman's old friends and close advisers "Well, I don't know Elliot, we have the forces to stay on our own or go to either side, really it depends on what they offer us" he said in his usual soft spoken tone. The chairman closed his newspaper and put it down on the table "Well, what do the people say about this?"
"Opinion polls suggest 15.6% of people want to support Ludolf, 33.8% wish to Telvira, rest are neutral or undecided" Jack replied.
"Depending on the actions of both sides support of the peoples hearts and minds way go either way, Winter is coming soon, I get the feeling it's going to be a long one, the shadow of war is upon us Jack, and we won't be able to beat it back forever, make sure to keep up the patrols of our airspace and such I don't want any one trying to force us into a war"
"Yes your excellency"
"How many times do I need to tell you, official order or not just call me Elliot, were are friends after all" the chairman responded.
Banadiya Naval base - West coast of Spit Break
Banadiya was one of Spit Breaks largest naval facilities on the west coast and also one of the most heavily protected ones. twenty kilometers off the coast was a large island which was a fortress on its own built to protect the naval base. It was called Yggdrasil base and on approach to the base was CNS Lucifer a North Carolina class battleship and flag of the Spit Break navy. The Lucifer radioed in to the base "Banadiya - Lucifer requesting docking clearance for scheduled maintenance and crew rotation over"
"Lucifer - Banadiya we left a spot open for you on battleship row, welcome home"
"Roger that good to be home Banadiya" the radio chatter between the two ships then ended as a group of P-40 Warhawks flew past the ship as if they were welcoming her home.

OOC-jet aircraft are a no-no for now. Maybe as the war progresses they will come into being...
IC-Private Mark Gates peered out from his foxhole over the James River to the positions of Army Group B, on the western bank. A single mortar shattered the silence. Gates ducked down, but when no explosion followed, he rose again, and saw a single plume of red smoke rising into the air. Then came a high-pitched whine. “Oh shiiiit…” Gates dove into his dugout just as the first barrage of Luden rockets hit, throwing up mounds of dirt and the occasional human being. Smaller explosions from mortar shells joined the crescendo of fire, only to be replaced by the sound of tank treads. “Panzers!” the shout came from somewhere down the line, but was echoed by most of the soldiers.
Advancing towards them were six Mk IV panzer tanks and several clusters of infantry. Gates raised his Garand and fired off three shots. A Luden soldier fell dead, and another fell clutching his side. An AT gun spoke, sending a 57mm round through the front armor of a Mk IV, which began belching smoke. Two tankers bailed out, only to be dispatched by a machine gun. Garands, Thompsons, and BARs opened up on the infantry, while bazookas and 57mm AT guns knocked out the panzers. A Mk IV fired, obliterating an AT gun and several nearby infantry. Two bazooka rockets slammed into the tank moments later, knocking the turret askew and incinerating the crew.
Then, suddenly, it was over. The remaining tanks and infantry fell back across the river under the cover of a smokescreen, while Telviran mortars fired parting shots. Shells landed among the Ludens until they were on the other bank of the James. Where, Gates suspected, they would remain for some time.
---
All along the front, Field Marshal Skorzenky launches attacks on the Telviran positions on the James River. All are met with failure. In addition, Telviran aircraft are beginning to regain control of the skies, and the bomber offensive against Metros is starting to cost Ludolf greatly. And now the Telviran Royal Air Corps is striking back.
In the largest raid yet, 100 Telviran B-17G bombers are launched against the Luden city of Kazheim. Flying in combat-box formation, the fighters are escorted by P-38F long-range fighters. Over Ludolf, the bombers and escorts are met with over 130 Me-109 fighters. The dogfights rage all the way to Kazheim and back. In the end, Telvira has exchanged 45 bombers and 23 fighters for 37 Me-109s and quite a bit of devastation. But the factories and ports of Kazheim are virtually untouched.

IC:
A Week after Departing, The Fleet Lead by the USS Enterprise arrived at Wesport, The 11,534 men of the 17th Airborne were unloaded ASAP, the commanding officer, Lieutenat General Taylor, immediately went to the Local Supply Building, too see if he could Requisition some AT Guns and AA Guns for his troops, because the largest AT Gun he had was a 3 Pdr Gun, and the closest thing to a AA Gun he had was 30.cal bipod LMGs. 3 Weeks behind his troops, another fleet was to debark with the 1st Infrantry, and the 2nd Armored, they were due in 4 to 5 weeks, he doubted his troops would be able to hold that long, but he hoped they would.
Unfortunately for General Taylor, the Telvirans had nothing to spare. The Liberal Party had made massive budget cuts before the war, so the few modern AT and AA guns they had had already been sent to the front. The supply officer could offer some 37mm AT guns, but they had almost no effect on Ludolf's panzers. As for AA, bubkis.
In Luden-occupied Telvira, the first stirrings of a resistance movement, supported by Telviran Special Affairs Office (SAO) operatives. At the front, there is a lull in the fighting as Field Marshal Skorzenky builds up troops for Operation Wolf's Blood, which will introduce Telvira to Ludolf's newest weapons of war...

"Give'em, better than nothin, can hit the tanks in the flank if we have to"
Taylor walked off find his Radio Officer and find out where the Telvirans wanted his troops to go on the line
The supply officer handed over the 37mm guns.
The Telviran High Command had not yet decided where to put the Pennsylvanians. For now, they would go into the line near Swindon, almost in the center of the line. That had been the quietest sector, and would allow the troops to adjust to combat in Telvira.

North Sea
The Telviran Essex-class carrier Lion, was one of three carriers assigned to Operation White Dawn, an ambitious plan to cripple Ludolf's navy before it cause a problem. At 0730, flights of Helldiver dive-bombers and Avenger torpedo planes took off, headed towards Kazheim, Ludolf's main naval base. At 0800, the first attacks began. At port that day was the Graf Zeppelin-class carrier Ludolf, two Kaiser-class pocket battleships, and numerous other vessels. Despite tenacious resistance by the Luden fighters and a massive amount of AA fire, when the planes withdrew the Ludolf was sinking, as was one of the battleships, three cruisers, and 17 other ships.
The attack was hailed as a major victory by the Telviran press, but while Telvira may have been winning at sea, on land Ludolf was gearing up. Army Group B now consisted of 3 infantry, two armored, and one airborne division. And suddenly a lot of fighter cover was being detected over a large compound on the coast. Attempts at recon had failed, and it was unknown what Ludolf was working on underneath the roofs of those large buildings.

The Battleship USS North Carolina was bobbing up and down in 8 foot seas, the battleship, along with 5 Other Battleships and 3 Essex Class Fleet Carriers, 20 CAs, 34 CLs, 56 Destroyers, and 72 Destroyer Escorts were escorting a group of Victory Transport ships across the Atlantic, the Ships were carrying a Independent Armored Brigade, 560 M-3 Grants, which were to support the 17th as best they could, also in the ships were Vast Stocks of 3pdr, 37mm, and 90mm Cannon rounds for the AT Guns that were in Telvira and the ones being brought over in the gliders
Underneath the sea, captain Johan Meuller chuckled. Lucky for us these guys are new to this." The U-boat was positioned at a 90 degree angle from what looked like a fleet carrier, bigger than the Zeppelin-class his country sported. Fire tubes 1 through 5, then dive." "Jawhol, kapitan." Five Long Lance torpedoes, the best in the world, lanced out towards the carrier. Then the sub dived deep, and waited. If it played it's cards right, it could strike again. In the meantime, it routed additional submarines to the area.

Shibuya AFB - Western Spit Break
Out in the badlands of the western province of Heallings sat one of the military's secret bases. This base was the R&D site for new aircraft designs before they went to the production lines. Right now a new plan was being put through it's paces. Out in the midday sun were several officials from the national defense committee to observe the new craft "So what was it called again?" one of them asked as he watched it in the sky "The P-51 will be it's designation once it hits production, should be one of the best" one of the military officers replied.
"Even over the 47?"
"Even the new 47's, though our boys tell me we are still a few months before they get them to the production lines, they tell me we can expect the first ready squadron by spring of next year"
"I wonder if we can stay out of the war for that long"
"Personally committee member, I doubt it reports we've been hearing show the fighting is getting worse, both sides will come to try and get our help"
"And who would the airforce help?"
"Well sir, the opinion of me and the majority of my staff is we should help Telvira, I predict if they keep getting taken over more and more public support will swing that way to"
"You might be right, either way with this new plane on land and the Hellcats on our carriers I think we will be in a good position by next year"
"Sir we are dead smack in the middle of a world war, we will be in war time production by this time next year at this rate"
"heh so be it then, any way it's a impressive plane, I'll make my report to the supreme council, I'm sure they will me pleased as well"
"aye sir, Alright radio him back in! we don't want him to run out of fuel and crash that prototype now do we?" the officer shouted.

IC-The U-boat was by now out of the convoy. But now a pair of Fw-200 Condor long-range antiship strike aircraft were banking in for bombing run. They broke out of the clouds near the carrier and began releasing 1,000lb bombs. The idea was that the aircraft carried enough bombs that they had to hit something.
At dawn, over 100 guns opened up on the James River line. The Telviran soldiers were prepared for conventional shells, but Ludolf had a new weapon. Upon detonation, some shells released a yellow-green cloud. The soldiers caught in the cloud began choking and writhing as the gas seared their lungs and blinded them. The Telviran troops were almost helpless against the gas. As the bombardment subsided, waves of Luden troops and tanks, protected against the gas, advanced. With the majority of the Telviran troops dead or incapacitated, the advance was swift. The panzers were finally able to break out, and it seemed as though Metros was doomed to occupation. The government evacuated to Waycross, to the north. The troops in Metros prepared for a desperate last stand.
But then it seemed fate intervened. Telvira found assistance, however paradoxical, in Kaiser Dietrich. He ordered Field Marshal Skorzenky to tuen and advance to Junction City, the railroad hub of Telvira. Skorzenky saw this as madness. But Dietrich was admandant. Junction City was the objective; Metros would be bombed into submission by the Luftwaffe.

Melrose was a hot bed for air force pilots, St. Douglas was a air force town with two major airfields near by along with several support fields. Around the bar was mostly pilots mixed in with locals, having drinks, watching sports, or playing pool. Up at the bar some of them were discussing the current war "Man I can understand that there's not enough support to enter the war, but shouldn't we be doing something about this? I mean Telvira was attacked without warning, we should be out there kicking some ass with the rest of them"
"Well then Will, what should we do about it since you've been ranting all afternoon about it"
"Well, why don't we head over there? like a volunteer squadron? I mean they do allow that don't they?"
"I don't know let me check Will" the other pilot said turning around in his bar stool "Hey Jack! Is there a way for pilots to form a volunteer group and fight in a war zone if our country is not at war?" he shouted across the bar towards his commanding officer sitting in the corner.
"Yeah if you can assemble a squadron we'll send you over"
"Well Will, there you have it"
William then put down his drink stood up and turned around to face the entire bar "Alright every one listen up, I don't know about you but I don't feel like waiting until Ludolf hits Spit Break, I want to get over there and kick some ass now so we never have to protect our own skies, therefore I'm announcing right now that I want to create a volunteer squadron to go over there and fight, any one that wants to join me report to Arlington at O eight hundred tomorrow by hanger six!" only seconds after he said that though he already had pilots standing up saying they would join them. The sudden change of direction in Ludolf's attack actually went well. With most resources concentrated on the James River, there was little in the way of Skorzenky's thrust towards Junction City. General John Summers was put in command of the defense of Junction City. He began sending probing attacks out, but concentrated on fortifying the city.
The shore installations were some of the best in the world, so many were able to survive direct hits by 8inch shells. In the skies, the Wildcats were jumped by Me-109s who had been waiting in the clouds. Although three Stukas were shot down, the rest made it through and began bombing runs on the large ships (carriers and battleships).
Midway through the drive to Junction City, Ludolf unleashes new weapons of war. The Fw-190, a new fighter to replace the Me-109, starts appearing over Telviran skies. While the P-51 is an equal match for the Fw-190, Telviran pilots are not used to combating such an agile fighter, and suffer heavy losses.
On the ground, the Tiger starts seeing widespread use, and reports are that the Luden infantry are armed with newer and more deadly rockets, as well as semi-automatic rifles to replace the Mauser bolt-actions.

The forces on the James River line were now merely an afterthought for Field Marshal Skorzenky. He kept up spoiling attacks, not designed to actually make progress, simply keep them from organizing an attack. And if they took some ground, well that was a side benefit.
Southport's docks had been wrecked during the initial invasion, so the additional shelling didn't change much. And the threat of air attack had kept the Kreigsmarine out. The only thing hit were a number of abandoned freighters and fishing boats.
The aircraft over Southport's airport were met with more Me-109s, with a few Fw-190s mixed in. On the ground, AA guns pounded away. There were quad 37mm light AA, 88mm heavy AA, and a few 105mm superheavies designed to destroy bombers. The shells from those could destroy fighters with the area burst.

OOC:skipping ahead to the next morning here, also, any news on the next attack on the 17th?
IC:
The Next morning when the Luden troops woke up, they had to be scared, out in the Bay 9 Battleships, armed with 16in and 14in guns, and 24 Cruisers, armed with 8 inch guns, sat in the Twilight.
20 seconds later
All the Guns there Boomed
18 16inch Shells, weighing 2,000 pounds each, hurtled towards the Airport
80 14inch shells, weighing 1,500 pound each, divided half by half toward the Airport and Bridges, Possible Ammo Dumps, and Possible Vehicle Depots
The 24 CAs just poured fire all the over place, in the First Fire Mission, 216 8inch shells lurched all over the Place, landing in the town, near Shore Emplacments, at the Airport
After 2 Broadsides at the Airport, the 2 North Carolinas switched fire to the Shore Emplacements

OOC-Southport is on the tip of the southwest coast, Westport is farther up the western coast
IC-The response to the newly arrived fleet was instant. 130 aircraft took off from occupied Telvira, another 170 from Ludolf.
The aircraft were divided up as so:
180 fighters (Me-109s and Fw-190s)
75 Stuka dive-bombers
45 He-111 bombers armed with torpedoes

On the front, the attacks on the James River line were occurring daily, with small pushes by groups and infantry and tanks and medium shelling. As for the ships, all the Capitol Ships had been modified with upgraded Torpedo Bulges, plus the Pennsylvanias, New Mexicos, and Nevada had already had a efficient Anti-Torpedo System installed when they were built, if a torpedo hit any the Battles, it was likely to do very little damage. As for the cruisers they only had the bulge and the Fuel Tanks, so they were more prone to damage

The next morning out at hanger six, just as the sun was still rising into the sky the volunteers had assembled. In all they had sixteen pilots, twenty three support personal, a two dozen soldiers from a local garrison volunteering. William smiled while looking at all those who decided to come. Though he didn't have command of the group, there CO, Jack Raiger volunteered as well and became the groups commander "Alright listen up, you will all be issued different identification! different unit patches! and a few other things before we leave! We are now the 501st Volunteer squadron, this name is crap though so we will think of one on the way over there, we leave this afternoon we a group of ships heading over there to drop off food relief and pick up civilians trying to escape! meet back here at 13:00 on the dot, dismissed!"
Inside Telvira-hours later
In order to make sure the presence of Commonwealth personal in there country wasn't alarming a special envoy that was in the country to help monitor the situation with the Ambassador was sent to the current location of the Telvira Foreign ministry. He received a coded message a short time ago about what he needed to discuss at said meeting. When he reached the building he was quick to head inside even though it was uninvited "My name in Daniel Nelles, I'm the special envoy from Spit Break I need to speak with the minister or who ever is in charge at the moment, it's urgent" he quickly said walking up to the front desk.
The ambassador was ushered into the office of Prime Minister Blake. "What is it you want?"
Near Junction City, Operation Reaper hits a major obstacle when the 7th Armored Division engages the 5th Panzer Brigade. In a day-long battle, the panzers all but annihilate the Telviran armor, forcing General Summers to retreat back to Junction City.

The bombers and Stukas had expected some fighter resistance. The He-111s were armed with 6 14.5mm machine guns providing all-around cover, the Stukas had a 12.7mm machine gun covering the rear. These could rip through the fighter's armor if I lined up a shot.

The Pilots had been well briefed on these Aircraft, the Pilot always either attacked from below the Stukas or in front, giving very little chance to the Stuka Gunners
As for the He-111s, the Pilots tried as often as possibel to attack from the Front bottom or from the Back
The F4Us had been upgraded to carry 8 50.cal HMGs in the wing, with 1200 rounds, as well as 2 Underwing mounted 20mm Machine Cannons with 80 rounds each
"Well, it's good to know that people are taking a stand against tyranny. We can offer them airfields at Ironton, in the east. It's far from the battle, which will give the pilots time to get a bit of an introduction to air warfare in Telvira."
The Coasairs that attacked from the front were fired on by a nose turret gunner. As for the Stukas, attacking from the front put them right int he sights of the two 20mm cannons in the wings. From below, however, there was little they could do.

OOC: Im gonna have 1 He-111 have its wing blown off in this part ok, rest is yours to decide
IC:
The Lead F4U Fighter, commanded by John Wayne, came in after the Lead He-111, fired 20 20mm HE Rounds into the Front gunner position, at the very least heavily wounding the Gunner, after which he switched fire to the Left engine, knocking it out, than firing on the Cockpit, probably killing one of the pilots. On his second pass from Level with the Plane and slightly to the left, he fired at the Wing joint, knocking it out, tearing the wing off,and sending the plane spirraling into the ocean far below
With the loss of one He-111 and five Stukas, the rest of the aircraft survived the fighter attacks and began making their attack runs.
Outside Junction City, Luden forces push to the suburbs of the city, and engage the Telviran defenders in house-to-house fighting.

He was frustrated that the ships carrying the new helicopters and missiles had sunk because some careless deckhand had been smoking in the magazine. Donitz read the report about staying in Kazheim until further notice, and knocked his coffe in disgust. The Bismark class ships were supposed to be in the heat of the battle, not rusting in a dock.

Morrdun, Captial of Morrdh
Minister Pendrake hurried through the streets of the Morridane capital on his way to Parliament House for a cabinet meeting, everywhere he looked he saw the city gearing up for the forthcoming war that everyone knew was going to come to the Unified Commonwealth. AA-guns were being sighted in sandbagged emplacements that were dug in open spaces, whilst sappers built and reinforced key buildings with ARP equipment. Even civilians were taking matters into their own hands by taping up windows or put wooden boards up over their shopfronts.
War was on everybody's mind, the question was how the war would arrive?
A trio of Hawker Hurricane fighters flew overhead on patrol as he arrived at Parliament House, in the distance he saw a barrage balloon slowly being raised into the sky before he entered the building.
~
It was an hour into the meeting before the Luden-Telviran War came up, it was a topic that the Morridane government had keenly avoided discussing over the past month. Though it was something that Prime Minister Edmund Vermillion wanted dealt with. "Gentlemen,by no doubt aware of the ongoing conflict in Telvira...especially the loss of a trading partner."
"With all due respect Prime Minister, its hardly much of a loss considering the Ludens have asked for more resources and the raise in costs. Exports have risen by at least 30%, combined with the inflated prices our profits have almost doubled." Trade Minister Redgrave replied, edger to make it clear that the current conflict was good for business.
"That maybe so, Redgrave." Vermillion replied. "But ultimately its Morridane lives on the line, the sailors onboard ships sailing straight into what is a warzone. Then you take into account that we've supported the aggressor over the victim...something that'll bite us in the arse one day, so to speak."
It was the turn of Lord Admiral Gowan to speak. "Even so, we have taken measures in the form of adopting a convoy system to have our ships escorted by Morridane warships. Not to mention that each and every one of our vessels has been clearly marked in Morridane colours."
"I'm sure that'll comfort the grieving families of the sailors Admiral..."

We are not trying to offend you, but we suggest withdrawing all troops from Junction City, and having a combined assault of Metros and quickly afterwords invade Waycross and capture high government officials in a blitzkreig move, which were detailed in the papers sent along with the Enigma machines. I hope you have had time to look at the Enigmas and papers, and have applied usage of them properly. Novus Spartus will land troops in Westport to take the city over in a month. We hope you will coordinate with us so there are land troops attacking as well.
With greatest wishes of good health,
Secretary of War, Claus von Stauffenberg

To not tell me how to run my war, sir. We will focus on Junction City and cut the Telviran's rail lines. I have been given assurances that my Luftwaffe can reduce Metros on it's own. As for Westport, do what you will. The armies of Ludolf rmain focused on Junction City.
Farnorth, Telvira
"Get this to Blake ASAP." The officer handed the courier a report detailing the upcoming invasion of Westport. Unknown to the Ludens or Spartans, Telviran scientists had managed to get ahold of one of the Enigma machines early on. They had recently cracked the code and now were able to read many of Luden's top messgaes. Including the one's telling of the invasion of Westport.

We have reanalyzed your situation at Junction City, and every single war simulation my top men have run have turned out the same way. You will lose the war if you remain in Junction City. If you are to have any hope of winning this war, pull out of Junction City and let your troops rest. Then take Malton and Waycross, if possible. I do not try to run your war, we are trying to make sure that Novus Spartus has a chance to win as well. Your interests are our interests, and we want to make sure that your interests stay as intact as possible. But Waycross is becoming critical, and the most melancholy estimates show that Waycross will be permanently lost in 2 months. Please take our advise and we hope that this does not strain our relationship.

A day later, a lone, unmarked plane takes pictures over the city of Westport. It is a captured P-51E, modified to take aerial survalence. The report of troop and ship movement into the area are immediately flown to Stauffenburg's office, not sent by Enigma. "Sir, we just recieved aerial surveillance results. There are a quarter million troops moving into Westport, along with over 300 ships of various sizes."
"Thank you Hanz. Send a message by mouth that we will be sending paratroopers into Waycross instead. Do not use Enigma, or any other method of radio transmission. Admiral of the Navy William "Bull" Halsey Jr was waiting for more of the Luden fighters to be drawn off after the Bombers, he had a plan drawn out, one that could potentially be costly, but could also cripple the Spartan and Luden fleets in the area, even if he lost 300 Aircraft, they could be replaced within a week given the speed at which aircraft were being built, for the Fiscal Year 1942 (Halsey had no idea what Fiscal Year meant) it was estimated as many as 30,000 Tanks, SPGs, Tank Destroyers, and Artillery pieces would be built, at least 8 Fleet Carriers, 20 Escort Carriers, 3 Battleships, 2 Battlecruisers, 200 DDs, and 250 DEs, as well as a minimum of 12,000 Fighters or Fighter Bombers, and at least 24,000 Heavy Bombers. If he could have all those Fighters under his control with enough Munitions he could stop the Luden Advance cold.... Or at least he thought he could, but right now all he wanted to do was sink as many Spartan and Luden Carriers and Battleships as possible with as few losses as possible.

IC-The air commander ignored the chaff. "They think they can fool us with that three times! Pathetic." He kept his aircraft ready for takeoff, but still in their hardened hangars.
Meanwhile, the Me-110s and 109s began withdrawing, aiming to get their opponents within range of the land-based AA guns.
King Cyrus II and Prime Minister Blake agreed that Waycross was becoming too vulnerable, with the Luden push at Junction City and this new threat. Cyrus and most of the government withdrew to Farnorth, beyond the range of any enemy threat. Blake and the Minister of Defense, however, stayed in Waycross. The city was soon swamped with engineers preparing defenses.
In Junction City, Field Marshal Skorzenky was becoming anxious. The Telviran defense was spirited, and his panzers were hampered by the urban environment. But orders were orders. The focus on Junction City blinded Luden intelligence to the small buildups to the north and south of the city. They weren't large enough to pose a threat to the Luden front, but the flanks were a different story...
In Ludolf, Kaiser Deitrich simply ignored this new message from Novus Spartus. What did they know of war? Ludolf would surely prevail.

I see that you will not give up Junction City. I pray that you succeed under immense odds. But that is not what I want to talk to you about. We are planning an attack on Waycross, due to come to fruition in 3 weeks. We have 20 divisions of 15,000 paratroopers with 5 mechanized divisions of 200 vehicles each, and 3 Panzer divisions with 100 Panther tanks, all transported on new super transport planes. We ask that you provide all available aircraft, and soldiers for this attack, so we can take the city with unopposable force. We will have limited Stuka and Me110 attacks on Westport before the attack, to draw suspicion away, and will coordinate some of our fleet to pretend to attack. We hope that you will help us, and we will help you with Junction City after we are finished mopping up Waycross and surrounding area.

Secretary of War Claus Von Stauffenberg
Admiral Donitz recieved orders to move all ships out of Kazheim harbor and head for 100 miles outside of Westport. As the ships were on their way, crewmen on the NSN Sparten V, the flagship of the Graf Zeppelin fleet, saw a variance in the sea pattern. The captain ordered half (25) of the Me109s out to investigate. They saw the Avengers and started firing, ordering the rest of the Me109s out. 100 Me109s were sent to the area to join the fight and all ships took evasive actions, and started firing their anti-aircraft armaments into the sky, in the direction of the Avengers.
Dietrich refused to even read the newest message. He was firmly convinced that he knew what was best. In fact, those pesky Spartans might be his next target after Telvira fell. They deserved a good discipline...
At Kazheim, the air commander launched half of his fighters at this new threat, but kept the remainder at base.
Outside Junction City, Ludolf's forces continued to battle. They began making progress in the city, but General Summer's probing attacks on the flanks were gaining ground. Summers planned a major offensive to begin in a month, plenty of time to bleed the Ludens in Junction City.
In Waycross, General Howell's defenses were coming along. AA and AT defenses were interspersed with machine guns and infantry strongholds. In the case of overwhelming force, Howell's orders were to turn the city into a graveyard for enemy soldiers and then destroy everything of value.

Around Junction City, General Summer's probing attacks took on more life. Luden commanders reported losing ground to small-scale offensives. Counter-attacks were met by Telviran forces hardened by combat and supported by artillery and air power.
In the city itself, Luden forces were now falling back. Field Marshal Skorzenky had had enough. In direct disobedience to Dietrich's orders, he was slowly pulling troops out and reinforcing his flanks. If the Telvirans attacked in force, Skorzenky would gice them a bloody nose.

After he got up, another man, this time from the PA Special Operations Service, SOS, picked up the letter, and made his way back to a Safe-House. At the safe house, they opened the letter up, in it there were great details for a attack on Waycross, Requests to salvage ships in Kazheim, a Very Detailed list of NS Reinforcements.
Dienhard Von Klueger was in the Luden Department of defense and was very high ranking, but unbeknowst to anyone but a few Pennsylvanian Officials, he was a Double Agent, feeding Luden and Novus Spartus False information while giving the Pennsylvanian Officials just about all the information they would need to beat the Enemy in Telvira and Beyond
To Luden Minister of Affairs
To Whom It Concerns,
I am writing to inform of the wishes of the Morridane Air Ministry to use Luden air space for a series of regular civilian flights.
Given the fact that Ludolf is on a war footing and that the flights in question may generate problems, I feel it would be best if met to discuss the details of the proposal and iron out any issues involved. Given our current relations as trading partners I hope the matter isn't too difficult to resolve.
Signed,
Sir George Cowdray, Morridane Secretary of State for Air.

Via diplomatic back channels, the following message was relaid to the Pennsylvanian and Telviran governments;
Sirs,
My sources have inform me that the tide is beginning to turn against the Ludens, if so then there are some matters that the Morridane government wishes to discuss. Therefore I propose that a meeting be arranged to discuss the issues in question face-to-face.
I hope you accept my proposal.
Signed,
Edmund Vermillion, Morridane Prime Minister.

The fighters turned back after a short while, before the enemy fighters could attack.
In Ludolf, the courier was directed to the offices of Field Marshal Erwin von Speidl, the head of OKH, the Luden military headquarters.
Prime Minister Blake was given the Morridane message. A while later, the following response was sent:
I would welcome a meeting with you soon.
In Junction City, the Luden forces were slowly decreasing in number. The remainder were ordered to continue fighting so as to make the Telvirans think that they were still committed to taking the city. The new forces were redeployed to the flanks, to guard against attacks.
On the Telviran side of the lines, General Summers began to mass for his flanking attack, confident that the enemy had overextended himself.

It was 2:30am, along a 50 mile front, 3,000 155mm guns began spilling Armor Piercing Rounds and some Teargas into the Luden lines, this bombardment would continue until 7:53am, Sunrise
Diplotmatic Message
Dear Edmund Vermillion
We are willing to accept the talk of a meeting so long as it is on neutral grounds approved by my nation as well as Telvira
The bombardment fell on prepared lines. Reinforced bunkers and tank pits meant that the bombardment only killed 137 soldiers and knocked out a mere 8 tanks and 5 guns. The Ludens retaliated with a total of 560 105mm and 155mm guns firing a mixture of HE and gas shells, aiming to disrupt the anticipated attack. And in several heavily reinforced bunkers, special troops of the SE (Spezialoperation-Einheit/Special Operations Unit) readied small frames, atop which sat Ludolf's newest weapon, one which would bleed the enemy tank forces to death...

The Troops were all equipped with Gas Masks, so the Gas shells di dnothing, after 2 hours of Bombbardment, 300 Lancaster Bombers flew overhead in the darkness, with each they carried a 6 Ton Tallboy Bomb. They dropped the bombs, and flew off to land and do some more bombing by the end of the night.
20 miles behind the line a special group of weapons recently transported over for this operation was getting ready to fire, it was a group of 43 18.1 inch Heavy Cannons, equipped with the Armorpiercing rounds, no trench, foxhole, bunker, bridge etc. etc. could shield people from this cannons fire.

Novus Spartus was preparing the force for the attack on Waycross, not realising that Telvira had found out about the attack. They upped the forces to 20 15,000 man Fallschirmjäger divisions, 10 mechanized divisions of 1000 vehicles each, and 13 Panzer divisions with 250 tanks each, all to be carried on giant transport planes that started out as huge gliders. Planners realised that the superplanes would be easy to see, so 2 hours before the attack, they planned to bomb Waycross with battleships, the shells being filled with Zyklon B and black smoke, to cover the air.
To Feldmarschall Speidl.
Thank you for receiving my letter. I hope that you will agree. We hope that you will provide 'workers' for the project on the Path of the Crucifix. We will begin in 2 weeks, and wish for you to provide 'workers' and 'supplies'. Please tell us anywhere you need help, and we will send all available 'workforces' to help out. Thank you.

A response to the Pennsylvanian and Telviran governments was sent via the same back channels;
Sirs,
I am grateful for the speed of your replies, though I have to ask you both to play along in a little act of 'Cloak and Dagger' to keep the Ludens and their allies in the dark as much as possible. The Morridane Foreign Office will be issuing a false diplomatic protest over the attacks on Kazheim, citing damage to Morridane shipping...I ask that you respond like normal.
We are prepared to take action against the Ludens, though we wish to maintain a great deal of secrecy with regards to our intent. We are attempting to arrange through diplomatic means a way of gathering information covertly to aid us in the planning of our forthcoming strike.
I am happy to host a meeting in the Morridane capital of Morrdun, to all appearances it would just be a diplomatic meeting to deal with the 'false' protests.
Signed,
Edmund Vermillion, Morridane Prime Minister.

Following the attacks on Kazheim, a diplomatic protest was issued through official channels by the Morridane government. The protest cited the loss of Morridane lives and ships in the attacks.
It was merely an excuse and a cover for the Morridane government to arrange a meeting with Telvira with its allies.

The Pennsylvanian Response
Well maybe you should try to keep your ships out of a Harbor that has already been visited by planes in this war, and maybe you should try to keep them away from the warzone.
From Prime Minister Blake:
Kazheim is Ludolf's main war port. Perhaps you should reconsider trading with a nation that has devoted its economy to war.

The supplies and parts just kept coming in to airfields all over Novus Spartus. News about the Ludolf losing their hold on the James River Line kept spreading through the ranks. Secretary of War Stauffenburg ordered the sending of 10,000 troops, prepared for any kind of attack, and 1,000 Flak Vierlings, along with 1,000 versatile Flak 88s, effective against planes, tanks, and infantry. All this would be ferried by the Ar-232 whether Kaiser Dietrich wanted them or not.
As the artillery battle on the James raged, General Summers opened his offensive. After a short but violent artillery attack and several bombing runs by heavy four-engined bombers, the troops and tanks of XV Corps and IV Corps moved forward on the flanks. They were met by fierce resistance and the advance slowed to a crawl.
On a small section of the front, a unit of tanks reported losses to rockets that followed them when they moved. On the other flank, a key bridge stayed in Luden hands as the same rockets knocked out a total of 14 tanks in quick succession. The Ludens had unveiled their trump card. The X-7 Rotkappchen, known as the Red Riding Hood by the SE handlers, was a guided AT rocket with a warhead that could defeat any armor in service. Most were stationed on the flanks of the Junction City spearhead, but enough were stationed on the James River line (unknown to the PA forces) to blunt any armored attack.

at 7:53 am, the Artillery ceased fire for a few minutes, than resumed, this was a walking artillery barrage, it started right on top of the 1st Luden Line, bhind this, 45,000 Troops of the 82nd Airborne and the 1st Marine Division Advanced under smoke cover, only light tanks, M3 Stuarts and M24 Chaffee moved with them, also under smoke cover, from the luden lines, they enemy could hear the tanks if they were lucky, but not see them
The Luden troops heard the tanks, and began firing into the smoke. The X-7s were withdrawn through trench systems to the second line of defenses.

As the Troops began reaching the 1st line, they took the trenches by force, killing any Luden troop in there often before they knew the PA Troops were there, because most often they snuck around a section of trenches and shot the soldiers in the back
4 Miles behind the last line of defense, 3 Divisions of Airborne Troops, the 17th, 101st, and 71st, began landing behind the enemy, 36,384 men total were allocated to this landing ,designed to cut off the enemy retreat
The Ludens stood fast. The paras were met with machine-gun fire and air burst shells. The troops on the river called in artillery on their former positions, and continued to keep up suppressing fire.

The artillery re-directed fire as follows
18.1 inch guns starting poruing very accurate fire onto the line, while the other cannons starting fireing behind the troops, attempting to cut off any line of defense
Another message was sent to the Pennsylvanian and Telviran governments via offical channels, thus far the Ludens had no irking of what the Morridanes were planning.

A clerk entered and handed over some documents to the Prime Minister. "Sir, our spooks in Intel say that they may be onto a spy from Novus Spartus."
"Novus Spartus? Isn't that one of the Luden's allies?"
"Yes sir, it is."
"Whats the damage then?"
"We don't know...we suspect that they might have figured out the forth coming meeting isn't what it seems and that we are planning an attack against Ludolf. It was a fluke that we picked up the spy's transmissions, though we won't know for sure what information was contained in the said transmissions sir."
"Hmm...I see." Vermillion replied before sitting lost in thought for a moment. "Get the War Office to draft orders for troops to be deployed to Telvira, a mass landing to outflank the Ludens and their allies from Novus Spartus. Also see to it that an alert goes out, though use a air raid drill as a cover...make it appear we're in the dark about this spy so use runners to rely the orders."
"Yes sir, what of the spy himself?"
"Get our spooks to track the bastard down, then get a squad from the Special Duties Section to deal with him."
"Certainly sir." The clerk saluted before leaving the Prime Minister to rewrite this message.

If there were any spies in Morrdh that were of my country's origin, I know not about that. My country feels threatened that you will send warships into our harbors. Chancellor Leonidas is a little paranoid about that. If you still feel that Morridanians should be transported from this country, then send passenger ships. I am willing to remove all Novus Spartus citizens from your country, though I am not positive that all will cooperate. If I can have a document verifying that all their property will be returned to them, then they might be more willing. But whatever you do, stay out of the war. Whichever side you choose, there will be no benefit. We will try to win the war quickly, and we will do anything you ask so that you stay out of the war. Do not join Telvira, and do not join Ludolf. We are only sending one vessel from the Royal Morridane Navy, a training ship which happened to be our closest available vessel to the area in question. She will remain in international waters to take on Morridane nationals as passengers, your own navy is free to inspect her and to verify that she is a training vessel and assisting in the...'evacuation' (a word I am loathe to use despite it being the only one that best sums it up) of Morridane citizens.
We are currently compiling records of all property and businesses owned by Novus Spartus citizens, records that you will receive copies of. The Morridane government will take temporary ownership of the properties and ensure that they are kept maintained, plus to ensure goodwill I have authorized that 50% of the property values will be paid to the displaced owners.
However I cannot hold any promises that we will not get involved with the current conflict, I can only hope that we do not.
Signed,
Edmund Vermillion, Morridane Prime Minister.

"This is Viper lead, we have enough fuel to cover you for some time forming into your air space" William said as he turned his plane towards the allied carrier fleet. He radioed the rest of the squadron to follow and also radioed the base to tell them that they were now providing air cover for a allied carrier.

"Sounds nice, we'll make sure to hunt you down when the war's over, Viper lead out" William said over the radio as his planes made it into viewing range to the USS president. They then formed up and patrolled the air around the ship in groups of two in order to cover the most air space around the ship.
