A single system floated on the edge of the expanse between two arms of a spiral galaxy, at the very tip of one of the arms. This system was unique in the fact that it had three suns. The first two in a binary orbit, one a class A star, roughly twice the radius of earths sun and shining a bright blue-white. Its twin, a pulsar, spinning so that its deadly spray of radiation sprays above and below the systems orbital plane. The third sun was in an extreme solar orbit, another class A blue-white star. Three planets were in a standard orbit, three more in exotic orbits. Two at a position where they could support life, the third passing too close to the systems third sun in its outer orbit. The other three were in varying angled wide orbits, showing that the third star was an addition to the system.

The first of the planets was a desert world, as well as the others, though it had the land features of once having bore fresh water. Its orbit cluttered with thousands of man-made satellites, as well as a shattered moon, its debris cloud having swirled out around the planet. Any ships entering the system would pick up the signatures of operating singularity cores on the planet. The planet, though not immediately apparent of supporting life due to atmospheric degeneration in its past. the surface subject to long-term scorching heat from its 24-7 solar tan.

A closer look at the planets surface would reveal scars of global war. circular bowls of glass dotting the planets surface, as well as the remnents of cities on the planets surface. Remnants that hinted at a planet-wide industrialization. The planets moon showing signs of once having its own satellites and structures, now hundreds of years derelict, just like the cities on the planet below.

You bumped your own thread after forty one minutes? Really?

God, I wish sage worked on vBulletin...

Perhaps you should include something in your post aside from a vague description of a star system if you want someone to reply.

Above the planetary surface, but within the atmosphere there was a blinding flash and an EM pulse (not damaging but definitely noticeable). A Six meter long delta winged craft appeared it's rocket engine visible in the sky as it turned upwards. The supersonic boom had now reached the ground as the craft continued to climb. A minute or so later it exited the atmosphere then cut it's motors cut and it turned back towards the planetary surface. It went into freefall before deploying a small parachute to slow it's decent.

As it passed the point it had appeared there was a slight glow then nothing, a few moments later a larger parachute deployed and the craft began to slowly drift down.

What was it?.

OOC: You won't find much in the way of clues as to what it is as it has fried all it's internals, including it's FTL system. How ever it does contain a cylinder containing and image of a cat like creature, and few other animal like humanoids. Also a depiction of what the sky looks like from my people's home world.

OOC: It's just a pathfinder drone, and all it was doing was sampling the atmosphere, measuring the air pressure, gravity and it flew up to get a clear fix on all the stars to the people back home can figure out where it came out. So that it can be ascertained if it's worth while sending anything something else.

OOC: Oh yeah have fun where it lands (some one might widen up with a new lawn ordainment).

Interestingly enough. There was no night on this planet. Its atmosphere barely capable of sustaining oxygen based life. The probe, upon hitting the ground, would disappear into the sand-storms that swirled on parts of the planet.

A little time passed, it could have been days, it would be hard to tell as there was no night. There was a second flash in the sky and a much larger drone flew up into and threw a small satellite into orbit before the drone fell to the planet's surface.

The satellite deployed two solar panels and after it's first orbit started to send what it detected back home.

In the commonwealth's space agency there was some discussion about what it saw:
"Look the place is dead, what's the point. Yeah it could sustain life but look it's not doing so" A tall Vulpine said.
"But look that has to be the remains of a city!" a very annoyed looking leefen (feline) replied, tail thrashing.
"Yeah...."
"Is it me or is that an artificial satellite?" the leefen intercepted more interested now than annoyed.
"Well I'll be, OK we send the Magpie."

Some more time passed and there was another flash, this time a far larger craft appeared it's swept forwards wings and canards belieing it's hypersonic nature when within an atmosphere. It banked and slowed before landing vertically, it was about two hundred meters in length. Oddly when it landed it disappeared and all was quiet again, they were fairly sure no one was here. But it didn't hurt to take pracurtions, it's weapons systems were hot.

Few minutes later a large number of spider like drones appeared from within the cloak, they were about one meter high by about the same long. The started to spread out to reconnoitre the local area.

The drones would detect nothing living on the surface, nor would the satellite. Though, after the ships appearance, the satellite would go offline mysteriously after transmitting a proximity collision alarm. Presumeably from the massive sphere of junk in orbit (OOC: Think Wall-e cluttered, some still activated.)

While in orbit, the satellite would observe something rather interesting. The seven major sand-storms on the planet didnt move with the overall climate flow. Something rather interesting, especially considering one of them actually stopped and reversed.

A transmission reached down from one of the satelites. an automated message in a language unknown to the explorers.

"Несанкционированное персонала, стоять вниз сразу или---" The transmission ended abruptly with a flash of light in the sky, followed by two more as the ancient defense satellite had a meltdown while powering its weapons.
