Election night (FT)!

The Fedral Union
16-04-2009, 08:32
A holo cast went out to the galaxy and indeed where ever any one could receive such things

A blonde hair woman came on a smile over her pale face, she sat at a desk folding her hands over each other. She started to speak in a soft voice.

Good Evening My name is Anne McCormick! All night we’ve been covering the presidential elections! , First we go to the Federalist National convention Center with Richard Santiago. Richard.”

The Screen suddenly turned to a brown skinned man, his hair was neat and had salt and pepper coloring, his eyes where brown, the background was filled with patriotic colors in what seemed to be a large convention center. Hundreds of holographic screens shimmered three dimensional renderings of various things , slogans, news reports music was playing loudly it echoed through the center merging with the sounds of the crowd.

“Thank you Anne. All right.I don't think we have seen any night this week that was more of an electrifying night as tonight. I mean each night has been building but certainly Wilson Henry Zimmerman seems to have the lead in the poll counts, the Federalist party had been hurting after the last elections stunning defeat of their leading candidate Ronald Tompson to the Federationist Mike Logan.” He smiled a bit as he continued

“Zimmerman Was doing what so many people said he needed to do, and that is to play to the countries desire for improvement and expansion.”

The Screen splits and Anne comes to again. Speaking out.

Richard, as we see this, we're joined by Tiffany White as well. It's -- you know, it's all of these nights , whether it was four years ago with Logans Election as President, or four years before that with his first term or even Odessa’s election. These are all electrifying moments each and every one.

Richard Began to laugh a bit , speaking once more.

“And certainly this hall tonight agrees, and it seems the country is agreeing , Marry Roddenberry is lagging just behind as all the ballots are counted, and polls started to close , Brian Hues and his vice presidential lagging behind all of them .”

Anne smile turning over to another woman the split screen on her side turning to her, she had brown hair green eyes and looked as if she was in her twenties: “And Tiffany, what do you think?”

Tiffany started to speak out.
“Well, it seems to be a great night for Federalist. I mean these were fantastic speeches. Vice Presidential candidate Antia Vanburan , of course, is a masterful speaker. I think anybody can see that, Federationist Federalist, Pacifist even mercantile.

But Anita , I have to say, gave her points loud and clear and they seemed to be most effective I think we've heard in any of the speeches given. and she speaks with an authority that most people lack, which is the fact that he knows Roddenberry well, that they go so far back, that they have such a close relationship, that they are friends.

Anne Cut her off there and started to speak once more

“It's remarkable looking at them on the stage, looking at what we heard of the past couple of nights and even months leading up to this day . The Federalist Party a few years ago was divided broken not until Odessa did it get its act together , there were a lot of people in the Federalist Party who could never have imagine the kind of energy that we see on the stage tonight behind the Federalist Party and the chances that they have to take the White House.”

“Here we have Henry Jones Federalist Strategist.”

Henry Jones started to speak he was an older man with grey hair white skin and blue eyes.

“ I think we're seeing a remarkable rebirth of the Federalist party from their defeat to the Federationist . I think it was electrifying when Zimmeran walked out there to wait for the election results . And it has some precedent. It reaches back to some of the other moments in his party's history. Every Federalist candidate ever since Buchanan the first one, always went to privately claim the election results before returning to the stage triumphant or defeated“

Ann Held her hand up and spoke out to every one.

“Hold on We’re getting the official Election night Results, the polls on Torm, have officially closed and... .. It appears the federlist party and Senator Wilson Henry Zimmerman have been elected by the People of the Terran Federation, I repeat , Victory has gone to Wilson Henry Zimmerman, this is not a fluke it is official. and there he goes walking in to the center again on the stage we go live now to the Federalist center where President Elect Wilson Henry Zimmerman is now at the poduim.”

The man started to speak in a loud voice, a smile over his face.

“ AMONG the vicissitudes incident to life no event could have filled me with greater anxieties than that of this election night. I was summoned once before by my country, whose voice I can never hear but with veneration and love, from my retreat in the Federation Senate which I had chosen with the fondest predilection to pursue and then with immutable decision many years later , I had Decided to pursue yet another course to start down the road to becoming the President of the Terran Federation. The magnitude and difficulty of this race was evident , Now I stand here exalted and honored that the people I so love have trusted me with the leader ship of this nation.

The voice of my country called me tonight , as every four years we conduct this duty to preserve freedom and our countries well being. But as with every election the nations voice being sufficient to awaken in the wisest and most experienced of her citizens a distrustful scrutiny into each and every ones qualifications. This is not only a Devine right but a duty as well. One could not have been but overwhelmed with the despondence of some who inheriting inferior endowments from nature and unpracticed in the duties of civil administration ought to be peculiarly conscious of his own deficiencies. Tonight In this conflict of emotions all I dare aver is that it has been my faithful study to collect my duty from a just appreciation of every circumstance by which it might be affected. All I dare hope is that if, in executing this task, I will build a grateful remembrance of former instances of peace and prosperity , or an affectionate sensibility to this transcendent proof of the confidence of my fellow-citizens. Others have thence too little consulted with their incapacity as well as disinclination for the weighty and untried cares before them, I will have errors and they will be palliated by the motives which mislead me, and its consequences be judged by my country with some share of the partiality in which they originated. This being the impressions under which I have, in obedience to the public summons, repaired to the present station, it would be peculiarly improper to omit in this first official act my fervent supplications to that Almighty Being who rules over the universe, if there is one, who presides in the councils of nations, and whose providential aids can supply every human defect, that its benediction may consecrate to the liberties and happiness of the people of the United Terran Federation and a Government instituted by themselves for these essential purposes, and may enable every instrument employed in its administration to execute with success the functions allotted to his charge. In tendering this homage to the what ever great author of every public and private good, I assure myself that it expresses your sentiments not less than my own, nor those of my fellow-citizens at large less than either.

No people can be bound to acknowledge and adore any Invisible Hand which conducts the affairs of men women and aliens, No more than those of the Terran Federation . Other nations feel like every step by which they have advanced to the character of an independent nation seems to have been distinguished by some token of providential agency; and in a rage of religious ideology rush to punish those not with in their systems of belief. The system of our united government and the tranquil deliberations and voluntary consent of so many distinct communities from which leaders have been elected and chosen by the masses for centuries, has resulted in a freedom and nation that can not be compared with the means by which most governments have been established without some return of pious gratitude, along with an humble anticipation of the future blessings which the past seem to presage. These reflections, arising out of the recent crisis with the Genetic Purification Initiative, invasion and wars prosecuted by evil empires, have forced themselves too strongly on my mind to be suppressed. You will join with me, I trust, in thinking that there are none under the influence of which the proceedings of a new and free government can more auspiciously commence. In closing I behold the surest pledges that as on one side no local prejudices or attachments, no separate views nor party animosities, will misdirect the comprehensive and equal eye which ought to watch over this great assemblage of communities and interests, so, on another, that the foundation of our national policy will be laid in the pure and immutable principles of private morality, and the preeminence of free government be exemplified by all the attributes which can win the affections of its citizens and command the respect of the galaxy.

I dwell on this prospect with every satisfaction which an ardent love for my country can inspire, since there is no truth more thoroughly established than that there exists in the economy and course of nature an indissoluble union between virtue and happiness; between duty and advantage; between the genuine maxims of an honest and magnanimous policy and the solid rewards of public prosperity and felicity. The universe itself has ordained these actions ; and since the preservation of the sacred fire of liberty and the destiny of the republican model of government are justly considered, perhaps, as deeply, as finally, staked on the experiment entrusted to the hands of the Terran people. thank you... and goodnight.”

The Hall light up lights, air filled color spheres light up with terran colors as the national anthem started to play. (Battle Cry of Freedom).

Zimmerman Turned tail and walked out the public applauding and screaming.
