Blackhelm Confederacy

The Empire of Exponent, the predecessor state to the modern day Blackhelm Confederacy, was much like their ally Pyeki a relative new comer onto the world power scene. It was not until the war with Praetonia that the nation decided to finally modernize after the humiliating defeat of the Imperial Fleet in Paradise Harbor in 1896. By 1905, however, Exponent had worked hard to build up a modern navy and army with the help of their former enemies in Praetonia, and by 1919 the IEAF (Imperial Exponential Air Force) was operational.
By 1936, the population of the Empire had reached over a hundred and twenty million people, with a military of over one and a half million, and nearly twice that in the reserves. Also like Pyeki, these men all believe in their Emperor wholeheartedly, but also believe that they, as the descendants of Rome, are destined to conquer the world and relive the glory of the Roman Empire, from which they were seperated from so long ago.
The primary focus of the Imperial military is on speed, in the sky, on land, and at sea. This leads to fast, agile tanks and aircraft, but they are very lightly armed and armoured, and most of the Imperial armored divisions are far better suited for infantry support (which was the idea held by almost all in Imperial High Command to be the future of tank warfare) and their ships are better suited towards convoy raiding than actual battle with an opposing fleet.
Firearms
Sacrament Arsenal C-1927 (Carabina-1927) (http://www.sunblest.net/gun/img/Mann90c.jpg)
Most common rifle of the Imperial Army. As shots are fired the clip remains in place until the last round is chambered, at which point it drops through a hole in the bottom of the rifle. While it allows for speedy reloading, it also creates an entry point for dirt. Considered by most to already be outdated by the time of the war.

Model 12 Pyrobolus Manualis (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/92/Type_97_grenade.jpg)
The Model 12 had the same principles as most of fragmentation grenades of the period: a grooved 'pineapple-shaped' segmented body which dispersed sharp pieces of shrapnel when it exploded. Operation was accomplished by first screwing down the firing pin, so that it protruded from the base of the striker. Then safety pin was removed by pulling the cord to which it was attached; the protective cap which covered the striker was removed. A sharp blow against a hard surface, such as a rock or combat helmet would overcome a creep spring and crush a thin brass cap, allowing the pin to hit the primer and initiate the delay sequence before throwing at the target. This was standard equipment to all Imperial soldiers.
Filling: TNT
Weight: 15 oz
Filling weight: 2 oz
Detonation Mechanism: Pyrotechnic delay 4 to 5 seconds
P-1936 (Polybolum-1936) (http://gunsight.jp/c/image2/Type97-01s.jpg)
This is the machine gun mounted in most Imperial aircraft and armoured vehicles. It could also be used as an infantry weapon if necessary. This gun was prone to overheating, and had to be fired in bursts to prevent this from occuring.

Length: 1,145 mm
Cartridge: 7.7mm
Action: Gas-operated
Rate of fire: 500 rounds/min
