Part one: The Provoking

It was an average day in Greater Americania. Smog drifted over the capital city of Curriopolis, as it did in every major city. The enviornment was a huge problem because of the quick and unprecedented economic growth that had occured in the nation as a result of the Nationalist mixed economy. Noone in the city, from the police guarding street corners, the citizens walking up and down the crowded neighborhoods, or the politicians who sat in their luxurious offices suspected what was to come.

The nation had an amazingly low crime rate, partly because of the efficient police forces, partly because of the nation's implementation of welfare programs, and partly because of the nation's excellent school systems, so any violence was rare to come by let alone the tragedy that awaited.

It was in the government district where it happened. A brown skinned man dressed in a highly professional black business suit, covered up a khaki trench coat was sitting at an outdoors table by a streetside cafe sipping coffee. He was looking at his watch. When the clock hands read "9:00" he picked a cell phone out of his pocket. He punched in 9 digits and pressed enter. The call only took one ring to reach the man at the other in. "Hello?" said the voice. "Do it." the man replied, hanging up.

The man downed his coffee quickly and got up. He walked away no faster than anyone else. Noone would have suspected a thing. BANG! The loud noise roared overhead and everyone stopped to look. The explosion in the distance was visible from the cafe, but the man simply walked away, not even bothering to turn his head.

Part 2: The Briefing

Curry, Greater Americania's Nationalist President, sat in a military briefing in the Stronghold, Greater Americania's Military Supreme HQ. He was sitting at the very end of a table of 12 men. At the other end, Field Marshall Henry Castle was giving a service update on a modern projector over the Neoslavian war.

"As you can see, with peacekeeper withdrawals here, here, and here we can move forces up and..."

BANG! The noise shook the building, rudely interrupting the Field Marshall's presentation. All eyes turned toward the direction of the noise.

"What the f***?!" exclaimed Curry.

A low level private ran in. "President Curry! President Curry! Come quickly!!!" Curry and his guards got up and followed the private to the window. Curry looked out and stared angrily at the destruction. One block away from the Stronghold an entire neighborhood had been turned to rubble. Flames bursted from all over the wreckage. Streets and buildings alike were caved into the ground. Loud sirens went off as the police, military, and fire department responded to the crisis in a confused and dumbfounded manner.

"My god..."

Part 3: Retaliation

One week had past since the incident. Curry was going to give a speech himself in person, which was odd because he only spoke at the bi-annual Nationalist rally. None of the public had any idea what had happened, but thousands gathered in the famed National square to hear what had happened to the beloved capital.

Curry walked up to the many steps of the podium.

"One week ago on this day Greater Americania was the victim of a terrorist attack." declared Curry calmly into the microphone. The crowd was silent awaiting the rest of the speech.

"Our federal police force, the National Security Bureau has sifted through the evidence. It has examined all possible leads. This terrorist attack was linked directly with the Pacifican Commonwealth. Not an organization or individual from, but the nation itself." The crowd was still silent but the mood had sifted from curiosity to solemn anger.

"Now what will our response be?" Curry said, anger rising in his voice. "What will the NFGA do about the deaths of 30,000 Greater Americanians?!" sounded off Curry, only this time in a full shout.

"Retaliate!" came the response from the crowd.

"Retaliate indeed! We will BURY the Pacifican Commonwealth! We will ANNIHILATE it's corrupt democratic government! We will DESTROY their forces in open warfare! I hearby declare a Declaration of WAR upon it. May god have mercy upon it, because WE WILL NOT!"

The crowd erupted in loud cheering. Curry saluted the crowd. The dice had been cast.

Warfare/game mechanics

The war will take place on one of the U'shai islands.

The terrain of the island is very rocky, although on the interior it shifts to grass hills. It is a three pointed island, meaning there are three straight peices of land connected at the center making it a single island. On one point of the island is a rocky volcano. The volcano is unstrategic and is an unnessary conquest. On the other two points, the port cities of Shu'Dei and Hai'Mau. Each staight is 9 miles long, with an exception of the volcano's straight which is only 3. The diameters of the former two are 5 miles wide each. Along the stretch of land connecting the volcano to the two cities is highly rocky terrain. Forces cannot be landed here. On the two stretches of land on the sides of the island the two cities rest has beaches on both sides (4 beaches in total).

Greater Americania will start with the port city of Shu'Dei.

The Pacifican Commonwealth will start with the port city of Hai'Mau.

Rules

1) Greater Americania will be allowed to have a maximum of 50,000 infantry, 500 tanks, 5 air craft carriers, 5 battleships, and 10 frigates and 400 fighters.

2) Because the majority of nations seem to be siding with me which is something I didn't expect, the Pacifican Commonwealth will be allowed to deploy 100,000 troops, 1000 tanks, 7 air craft carriers, 7 battleshits, 13 frigates, and 550 fighters.

3) All other joining nations will only be allowed to deploy a maximum of 7,500 troops, 100 tanks, 2 air craft carriers, 2 battleships, 5 frigates and 150 fighters.

***Artillery units will be considered automatically deployed with Infantry units. Bombers will not be allowed.

4) There will be 3 alliances in this game. There will be Greater Americania's alliance which will consist of Greater Americania (leader) and all nations that join the war on Greater Americania's side. There will be the Pacifican Commonwealth's alliance, which will consist of the Pacifican Commonwealth (leader) and all nations joining on the Pacifican Commonwealth's side. Lastly there will be the Peacekeeper alliance. The leader of the peacekeeper alliance will be decided by the peacekeeper nations.

5) Deployments can only be on the island. You cannot attack another Pacifican Commonwealth island or the Greater Americanian homeland.

6) Half of your reinforcements can be replaced at the end of every other day. The next reinforcements day is: April 16th.

More rules will be added if necessary. Any violations of rules will be judged by me. If I decide you are guilty I will declare your posts illegitimate as the moderator of this RP.

Greater Americania makes the first move of the war by deploying the maximum allowed forces to the port city of Shu'Dei.

OOC: By the way, I will be posting story updates as the RP goes along.

The Lingard Navy First Task Force, comprising of the Indestructabel Battlegroup and the 24th Marine assault force, Regiments One and Two, sat just in International waters. The First Task Force that at the moment was the Lingards only force projection force in service had been sent to the region.

Field Marshall Henry Castle who had been reassigned from Neoslavia to the Pacifican war looked at the radar. "What's this here?"

The private operating the screen replied "At the moment, I beleive it's the Lingards fleet."

"Give me the mic."

"Yes sir."

Castle picked up the mic.

"Approaching fleet! This is the NFGA. Identify yourselves and your intentions!"

LNS Indestructable

"Admiral, NFGA on comms, requesting our intentions" A Tactical officer reported.
"Let me reply" The Admiral siad picking up the mike.
"NFGA, this is the LNS Indestructable of the Lingard Navy" The Admiral said "Our intentions are to investigate reports of a conflict in this area"

Castle was confused. Reports of the war had been sent to all major news networks across the world.

"Have you not received news of the war here?" he replied.

"Indeed, maybe I should rephrase my comment" The Admiral said "We are to investigate the extent of the conflict in this region"

"What course of action do you intend to take to do this?"

"At the moment we are undecided, we are to monitor and report back to Command"

"Keep us posted."

This is an obvious blatant attack on ones self Americania has caused this attack to start war, we the people of Mxyzptlyk will support no one Nation that conspires against it's own citizens for the express purpose of creating a situation that will ultimately cause the deaths of not only it's own but many more innocents.
The Nation of Mxyzptlyk will defend itself and support the efforts of the innocent Pacifican Commonwealth.

The NFGA denies this claim. The NFGA demands proof of the accusation and offers the following to consider to prove this claim to be false:

1) Despite the international condemnation, Greater Americania strove forward in the Neoslavian war

2) President Curry does not fear an international force. He would not seek an excuse for an invasion, and Greater Americania has taken up past conquests without offering up an excuse.

3) Nationalist principles say that the state has the unalienable obligation to lead the nation torwards it's best interests. Killing 30,000 citizens just for an excuse for war is not in the nation's best interests.

"Fuck them," stated President Bryce. "Bloody carpetbomb the seven shades of shit out of those sons of fucking whores, blow their brains outs, fuck them. Kill every single last fucker who calls himself a Greater Americanian, mutilate their corpse until the point they are just blood and guts, kill them all!"

Telvira will remain neutral but implores the two sides to seek a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

OOC: I never said the Commonwealth commited acts of terrorism, I said the NSB reported that you did. And bombers are banned because on a extremely small island such as this one, there isn't any airstrip large enough to house them.

The Democratic States of Garmidia is deeply saddened by the acts of Terrorism upon your nation, and wants to help in every way possible to get rid of these terrorists. Garmidia will to deploy (to start with), to the City of Shu'Dei, 3,000 troops, 50 tanks 70 fighters and 1 aircraft carrier to help with the war effort. These troops will be under control of a Garmidian Armed Forces Commander, who will be working in conjunction with a Greater Americana Commander.

Greater Americania starts the war off by advancing 15,000 of it's troops forward all the way until the point where they would have to turn in an entirely new direction to continue to Hai'Mau, seizing all the local villages along the way. NFGAAF fighters fly over head to protect them from Pacifican fighters.

Shu'Dei, Pacific Commonwealth

"Alpha-Killer this is Gonzo-Alpha-Bravo, two possible targets on the ground at Six O'Clock. Confirm target identity?"

"Roger, Gonzo-Alpha-Bravo. Identity confirmed. Turning to engage target."

The Jet plane from the Garmidian Air Force turned quickly to the right, to engage multiple Pacific Commonwealth targets on the ground.

The Fighter came closer and closer,

"Alpha-Killer, this is Gonzo-Alpha-Bravo. Target neutralized. Proceed on course."

"Mam, priority one message" the communications officer called to the Captain.

Angela Bartlet scanned the message and frowned. The crew wasn't going to like this one. "Navigation set course for international waters off the coast of Pacific Commonwealth. " Communications let the Ares, Demeter, Viper, Scorpion, and Nemo know to follow course. "

"Yes Mam." both responded in near unison, a hint of disappointment in their voices."

"I know boys, I wanted to be home too."

She picked up the microphone and punched the code for an all call. "Ladies and Gentlemen this is the captain speaking. We've been diverted to the Pacific Commonwealth to observe and report on operations there. I'm sorry truly, but this is our duty and we will respond. Section commanders in my ready room in 25 minutes. Our ETA is 1 day."

The Ford Class Carrier, 2 Ticonderoga Class AEGIS Cruisers, 2 Wasp Assault Ships, and Virgina Class Submarine broke off from the rest of the carrier group and set course for their new assignment.

On the same moment 2 Noordeinde Airforce Lockheed SR-71 Blackbirds (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/3c/EC97-43933-2.jpg) were in flight above the region. Their radar showed a lot of activity going on in the area. Both pilots made contact with eachother and decided to "take a look" to see what was going on.

When both planes decended in altitude and came under the clouds, the pilots were amazed. Both pilots flying above see saw a huge international navy fleet around a big island.

While flying above the island itself they indentified several tanks, both pilots decided to monitor the area to see how the situation would develop.

OOC: Yes, and also the Pacifican Commonwealth hasn't deployed it's forces yet so your strike was un-canon to the storyline.

Field Marshall Henry Castle was called in by a private again to the radar room. "Sir, another fleet is sailing towards this region."

"God damn it, private. All these advancing fleets are making me nervous. Who are they?"

"NSB intelligence reports conclude that they are a fleet of the Philimbesian Navy."

Castle motioned for the mic and the private handed it to him.

"Attention Philambesian fleet. Identify yourself (Fleet name) and your intentions in this region."

In waiting for a response, a corporal from across the room shouted. "Sir, there are two unidentified fighters flying above the island! What are yur orders sir?"

"Ask them who they are and what they intend to do. Then notify them the parameters of our airspace. Tell them that if they enter the airspace they will be shot down."

"Yes sir." replied the Corporal. He then turned the to the screen and followed his new orders.

"This is the Noordeinde's Airforce 'Blackbird 01', I and my colleague pilot flying 'Blackbird 02' were on a routine International Intelligence Flight. We came accros this region and spotted and observed this war going on.

We are flying in 'strategic reconnaissance aircraft' and are unarmed I repeat unarmed, and mean No harm, so far we are here to get intelligence and to observe the developement of this war and will call in armed back-up if nessecary" The pilot sad who was also the Commanding Officer of both 2 planes.

"We repeat our demand that you remain out of our airspace. We also demand that you keep us posted on your movements."

"This is Blackbird 01, going to turn around leaving your airspace, and if I may, I received an official messege from our Secretary of Defense, your Embassy in our country will be extra secured by police against anti-war protestors,and so far our Government politicaly stays neutral, Blackbird 01 out."

And both stealth planes dissapeared of the radar.

"Sir, the planes have complied with our demands. They also say our embassy in their country will be secured by the local police from war protestors."

Castle shrugged. "Alright." Beginning to get irritated from the lack of response he repeated his message to the oncoming fleet.

OOC: Come on, people, start deploying forces. This won't be fun if everyone sends an observance force.

Angela Bartlet grinned widely as she listened to the field marshalls request. "Open a channel".

"Aye Aye Mam, same frequency." She clicked a button or two "Go ahead Mam"

"Unidentified Party this is Captain Angela T Bartlet of USPS Atlas. The exact nature of our current assignment is classified. However I assure you it is at this time non aggressive in nature. "

Angela clicked off the microphone. "Close Channel"

"Aye Mam, done."

"RADAR double scan length, if a seagull takes a crap I want to know where it landed". She picked up a phone marked "Air Wing". When the intel op answered she said "This is the captain, place wing 1 on alert-standby. Prep for patrol and recon operations." She replaced the phone and looked over at her assistant. "Start a new pot of coffee, this might get bumpy.

Both of the planes were actually still flying above and around the island but while talking to the radio operator, they had increased alltitude up to 80,000ft. And because both planes are stealth planes, and they couldn't been seen on radar, they could stay close to the islands observing the area by using their onboard cameras and gather intelligence.

All Intelligence information was immediadley been send to a satelite who would broadcast this information to the Department of Defense. From where they would decide what to do, support Greater Americania, stay neutral or just to go and supply first aide to victims.

Duke Blaise and Admiral Ney his security advisor stood watching the screen.
The huge digital display projected the multiple satellite images of events in the area.

"Well sire this shaping up to be a major cluster fuck of magnificent proportions. This is a escalating into a type of backyard brawl between to of the neighbourhood kids".

The Duke stood almost transfixed as he watched the display of fleets and ships and aircraft, each one being tagged and monitored.

"Yes I know Jochiam, however this is one brawl that may very likely spread into our patch and that my friend wont be allowed to happen."

The Duke went over to his desk which was positioned on the upper tier of the Operations room.
He picked up a folder and walked back to where Admiral Ney was still standing,

"Jochiam I want you to divert some of the expeditionary force there, I see its on its way back from exercises with Rammsteinburg."

He glanced up at the screen and then to his security advisor yet again.

"Don't send the entire force, just enough that we can muzzle our way into this brawl, I don't want it spreading into our waters".

"So who are we supporting Sire"

"Neither Jochiam, we are going to drag those two kids apart and make them see sense".

"So Sire we are going to become peacekeepers, that will make us targets for both sides".

"It will Jochiam, but we are peacekeepers with a bite, so lets get this thing done before it spreads further into the Pacific."

Admiral Ney smiled to himself, he Ney when his Duke became annoyed he was one antsy young man, the fact that these two nations had allow a war to escalate on the Dukes backdoor step was really pissing him off.

"DO we notify Rammsteinburg and the alliance of our involvement sire"? Admiral Ney enquired.

"Negative, Jochiam, we are not acting on behalf of the alliance, this is on our street so we will act at this stage independently; simply notify them that we are becoming involved."

The admiral went over to the communications officer,

"Commander would you please raise the expeditionary force, we have a job for them"

Commander Sorenson nodded "Aye Sir", he quickly changed the digital channel on his panel and the image of Admiral Davout, Fleet commander of the expeditionary force appeared.

"Admiral Davout, The National security advisor wishes a word".

Admiral davout looked up from his seat on the bridge of the carrier, the beep of the activated screen on his panel indicated an incoming call from the Rechburg Operations room.
By typing in his personal code the screen cleared from the standard Rechburg symbol disappeared to portray the image of his old friend Admiral Ney.

"Good God Jochiam, what the hell are you doing out of bed at this time"

Admiral Ney smiled to himself.

"Well Admiral, the Duke has a small task for you, he wants you to move to the Pacifian Commonwealth waters, it appears there's a war escalating there and he wants you to put a lid on it."

"Jesus Jochiam, we are just returning from exercises, the Fleets been at sea for 6 weeks and we need refuelling and resupply".

"Aye, I know and I am sending a replenishment fleet out to join you, but take note the Duke doesn't want you to send the the whole force, just enough that it can defend itself until we make sense of this thing."

"Jesus H Christ Jochiam, first you want me to divert after being at sea for weeks, resupply, send half my fleet home and get involved in a war with half my strength and my hands tied behind my back"

"Yes that's about it Admiral, I will send you the details and force required very soon.

Two Squadrons from the Indestructable flew above the GA forces. The F-21 Sparrowhawks had been sent forward as the Lingard Navy had been given orders to help the GA fleet. The Following message had been sent from The Federation of Lingard.

Curry slammed his hand down onto his desk upon hearing that there would be peacekeeper forces entering the region.

"Peacekeepers?! Peacekeepers?! 30,000 people die and they dare intervene in the name of peace?! God, what's happening in this world?!"

His office was filled with military officials who remained silent. Only the man sitting on the couch in the back of the room, the new director of the NSB managed to smile and say "I absolutely agree, sir."

OOC: Well as I've said, it's a three point island as in there are three straight lines that connect at the center. Two cities are at the end of each straight and a volcano at the other. Let's say that the straights are five miles in diameter and 9 miles long between the center and the end of the straight each. It's a Pacifican island.

Take 2000 men and put them on an advancement course towards the Volcano. I want the 6th and 7th infantry divisions to be the advancing divisions. Go one mile out and begin to fortify your positions. They are to wait for further orders after fortification is completed. Hold as long as possible. Fall back to the city if necessary. Alternate orders are if you hit enemy forces do not engage, i repeat do not engage. Fall back and wait for further orders. The rest of our troops are to remain and construct Heavy defenses outside the city.

Part 4: Early victories, Early losses

"Gentleman, I call this meeting to order." announced Curry.

"I have an update for you on the Pacifican Commonwealth situation. Our troops are doing very well in the opening stages of this war. We have taken a good portion of land on the first island. The Pacifican Commonwealth hasn't even attempted to launch a counter-attack or defend any of the positions we have captured."

The men sitting at the briefing table nodded with approval, all except one, the new director of the NSB, Matt Henson. He sat quietly at the end of the table listening to President speak.

"International support is great. Many nations have rallied to our anti-terrorist cause."

The meeting carried on. The high ranking officials talked about the war. Matt Hensen did what he could to agg on the others. When the meeting got out, Hensen walked outside.

He picked up a phone and dialed a number. "Hello?" Came the other end. "This is Henson. We may actually get away with this."

"Get them Air-to-Air missiles loaded damnit, you had three days to do this and you didnt even get to it! Does it take that long to offload helicopters!? By the time I get back in here tommorrow, this problem better be solved!"

CAP fighters from Ragnarok seek out the blips on their radar.
"Red 2-1, this is Victor 3-6. We have Phimblisi marked battle group coming hull down towards the Island. They are staying well out of coastal waters but are approaching."

"Victor 3-6, Red 2-1: Go to alert 4. Shadow all Phimblisi movements and report. Additional CAP and strike aircraft are being readied. The line is 125 nautical miles from our position. If they break that line, you are to intercept. Acknowledge."

"Red 2-1, Acknowledge, out."

XO John Roth turns to Captain Wilkans. "Sir, i have relayed your orders to the CAP fighters as well as issued a communique to the presidential office. Are you sure we can keep them 400m off the coast?"

The captain replys, "I have instructed Werwolf to off load the ground troops and rejoin the group with in 24hrs. Relax Mr. Roth, we are more than capable of taking a single battle group. We have enough munitions and speed to take on 10 battle groups. We are from a sea going peoples, we are the masters of warfare on the water!"

"Get a message off to NFGA's Commander in Theater with this situation, ask him for more specific plans or is our group allowed freedom of action." The captain has to remind himself that he is here for support, not glory. He thinks to himself "One day, I will show what my vessel was made for, I will prove its name..."

Erik Hoffman personally supervises the off loading of his troops and equipment, as always. He only wishes that his injuries would let him be back in combat with his men of the beloved Wolf's Angle unit.....

Both General Rommel and Admiral Riccardi both are trying to keep from laughing as the General has to tell the Emperor this.
The Emperor starts laughing and says " Well at least no one got hurt right?"

"Well that was a funny story and things sound like they are going well. Your new orders are to advance with all forces. Except the reserve 500 troops. The Tech division i believe....or something like that."
The Generals look at each others with a concerned face. Then they all respond

"Also, Have the air force continue to support our division movements up to our fortified point 1 mile outside the city. Then await further orders. Move out same time 0500. i will contact you when you are needed. Understood?"

11,000 troops are moving to the 1 mile marker to hold. The Air force will defend in case of a air attack on them. The navy holds and 500 troops stay at "Camp A" (outside the city) and fortify/run out to the front lines and make tent citys.

My fortification on the 1 mile line consists of Trenches, Dugouts, Anti-tank defense platforms, and MG-42's every 500ft in the trenches.

"Intel is informing us we've got two more assault ships coming out of Hyperion Cay, they should be here in a day or two, plus the Spartan and the Terminus have come to and are heading in this direction."

"How about the Nina or the Santa Maria?" Angela ask, thinking it would be nice to see her friend Harry again. It has been a while since they worked together.

"No battleships. Command is afraid they will overshoot the island."

"Thank you Commander". Angela said... dismissing her XO.

OOC: Tracking your movements/staying parallel to your course/area or in a position to intercept/counter any movements you make-but staying far enough away that I can not be attacked or out of range of direct naval fire.

the captain..." Order the battle group to formation Zebra. Get all CAP, Escort, and Strike aircraft in the air. Alert the Cruisers to activate ECM counter measures at the first sign of anti ship missile radar emissions. Find out where the Werwolf is. Belay that, I'm coming to the bridge."

As attack aircraft prepare for launch, the tanker and radar planes are shot off the deck of Ragnarok. The cruisers jump to flank speed-with their small nuclear reactors, the first of their class, run up to 95 percent-the captain of the Ragnarok is impressed at the 20' tall rooster tail they throw up. These new ships are as fast as a frigate yet as armored as a battle cruiser. Truly impressed the speed at which they maneuver. On their way from 14knots to their 35knot flank speed sprint, each of the three launch 2 ASW helos of the AH/U-21 "Thumper" class. Each carry 2 Mk 12 homing torpedoes and 5 small yield nuclear depth charges. Magnetic anomaly masts as well as a dipping sonar and 10 36hour sonar buoys can give even the best sub crew a hard time.


"Bridge, Comms. Werwolf has reported that they will be strike effective in 5hrs. She is steaming at flank speed to her position."

Aboard the carrier Werwolf... "This is the captain speaking. All hands man battle stations. All tanker aircraft are to be loaded with 2 'Fang' anti-ship missiles. All 'Thor' strike aircraft are to be loaded with the same. All 'Spire' fighters are to be armed for airborne targets only. We will launch as soon as we are in range and refueling will be en route by Ragnarok's tankers. As our battle plan, all aircraft will be rearmed by the closest carrier. The Admiral thinks and then says "Lieutenant! Radio the Miller,Bowen and Fanning to move out with the Chancellorsville and Ramsey. Captain Ovechikin is in command of these ship. They are to move in defensive position around our allies. Then radio the Admiral of the Allied fleet tell him these ships are his to command if a battle is to occur. Also contact the USS Saratoga and tell them move out with the defensive fleet as their air cover also under the command of our allies. Understood?"

Both General Rommel and Admiral Riccardi both are trying to keep from laughing as the General has to tell the Emperor this.

11,000 troops are moving to the 1 mile marker to hold. The Air force will defend in case of a air attack on them. The navy holds and 500 troops stay at "Camp A" (outside the city) and fortify/run out to the front lines and make tent citys.

My fortification on the 1 mile line consists of Trenches, Dugouts, Anti-tank defense platforms, and MG-42's every 500ft in the trenches.

Once all planes are en route, the Ragnarok and Wewolf will turn away from the engagement. A SATCOM flash message will be sent to your squadron leaders for our position upon your return run. Rules of engagement are open, and you may fire at will without regard to any other standing order you receive. I intend to destroy their naval vessels, period." The captain runs his hands through his hair, "If you become separated from your flight, or your flight leader is shot down, you are to act on your own. This also applies to the fighter squadrons as well as all ships. If you see the Ragnarok going down, avenge her regardless of the situation."
