Eldar Elected to High Lords
Brian Birnbaum
Eldar citizens across the Holy Imperium celebrated today to the election of Cyred Kelthalas, the first elected High Lord of the Eldar race. Soundly defeating his opponent, Jason Highland, by a ratio of 3:1.5 votes. This is the second time a non-human was elected to the Council of High Lords in Imperial History, the first being made with the election of High Lord Aun'el Ko'vash Pi'rel of the Tau race.

For those unfamiliar with Angenterian politics, the High Lords of Angenteria, comprised of fifty individual citizens, is the elected governmental council of Angenteria. Elections are held every five years, and every citizen over the age of 25 is eligible to run for the office (age discounting those of non-human residents, who are able to run after they have reached the age of sexual maturity.) They may make, edit, or abolish any law, providing a majority vote, and carry the approval of the reigning Emperor.

In his acceptance speech, High Lord Kelthalas had this to say:

"I did not run for this position strictly to aid my Eldar brothers and sisters. I ran with the belief that I may represent the interests of the people as a whole. With my election, it is my hope that we can equally represent the interests of all races together, regardless of what type of race one is born into."

Ork Raids on the Rise
Marcus Sullivan
A recent rise in Ork pirating was personified by a major Orkish raid earlier this week in the Kor'vaa system, where Imperial forces based in the Star Fort Indomitable squared off against the Orks at the edge of the system. The fighting only turned in the favor of the Imperial Navy when the Ork command ship was destroyed in the fighting.

"Apparently, the Ork commander wanted to gloat over his victory to me." Commander Roy Mcgraff, commandant of the Indomitable, later commented "That gave us time to pinpoint the location of the his ship, which we promptly destroyed."

This gave the Imperial Navy the time to strike back, destroying the Ork fleet in the confusion. It was reported that many Ork vessels began firing on each other, in competition for the vacant command position.

This attack, Naval officials said, was the biggest Ork offensive in the last four years, and quite a turn away from the small-scale raids and pirating attacks usually undertaken by such aliens.

The Imperial Navy has yet to comment on the casualties caused to either side, but has stated that they will be taking "increased precautions" to ensure the continued safety and security of the Holy Imperium.
