New Nicksyllvanian National News Network Exclusive Report
Today, an otherwise uneventful session in the House of Lords erupted into debate as the National Imperialist Party proposed their resolution to abolish serfdom.
"Serfdom is an archaic and obsolescent system." stated Grand Duke Krutfurtersky, "Serdom serves only to stiffle economic development, inflate land prices, and cause unnessecery unemployment. Our current system is set up so an enterprising Nicksyllvanian purchasing land, also puchases all the Serfs bound to said piece of land, whether he needs the manpower or not. Likewise, a Nicksyllvanian with a business in need of manpower must purchase land they do not need, in order to get serfs employed. All of this is unnessecery and furthermore, leads to barren, undeveloped lands as serfs are being brought into our cities and factories. Thus the Imperial Party propòses that all serfs be made into outright slaves, no longer bound to land purchases, and allow a more dynamic and fluid market!"
Principal opposition, the Imperial Nationalist Parties stated strong opposition to the amendment, with Count Stuberschtocksky retorting.
"The instituion of Serfdom is a historic and traditional Nicksyllvanian practice, and an integral part to Imperial Hierarchy. Unlike slaves, serfs are largely willingly obedient labourers for us Nicksyllvanians, due to the traditional social contract that states that us Nicksyllvanian Lords have a duty to protect the serfs in exchange for their labour. Serfdom also serves as the middle road between slaves and freemen, and serfs themselves have the opportunity to amass enough personal wealth to be recognised as a freeman, and could very well become skilled specialists, as no true Nicksyllvanian can spare the time to become a master at a trade, for we are the masters of warfare."

Only the degenerate forces of compassion present in Old Nicksyllvanians led to the instituion of Serfdom. Old Nicksyllvania which died in the flames of Civil war, New Nicksyllvania arose to purge the corrupt and decedent elements of the Old Medieval practices, and replace with economic and scientific rationalitity. Slaves themselves have the opportunity to escape servitude, through hard labour and recognitition of their services by their lord, they can become free. A much more satisfactory system then a serf running from their Lords Estate to became cutpurse and fiend. Furthermore, Nicksyllvanians should be skilled specialists and careermen, as well proffessional Men at arms. A true Nicksyllvanian carries a Musket, a Book, and Wrench!"
