TRIAD Enterprises

Market Assessment, Customer Evaluation, or MACE as it was otherwise known was both the intelligence and covert activity division of TRIAD Enterprises. MACE was responsible for obtaining information, by whatever means required, on any potential markets, customers, and competitors. The sprawling corporate state of TRIAD had recently set up the colony of Eddatore City on the world of Rhydin, and now it was time to expand outward.
Rhydin was an anomaly. Known as a nexus-world, the planet itself co-existed across countless dimensions and realities at the same time. In essence, Rhydin was connected to almost everywhere and everywhen, although it's exact position and nature within each 'realm' was often very different. Within the NS universe, Rhydin was situated along one galactic arm of the Milky Way galaxy, roughly fourty parsecs from Sol/Terra/Earth.
It was from this place that TRIAD began dispatching the handful of ships allocated from the main corporate assets. Aside for basic supplies, headquarters was unwilling to allocate more significant assets to this colony until such time as the colony began returning investment revenue. So the TRIAD Enterprises Exipidition Fleet, nominally under the authority of MACE, was given command of a handful of frigate class ships. Each 170 meter long ship was a biological hull, a living ship. When installed with a Digitial Entity for control, and able to be commanded and run by a crew as small as ten persons (four officers and six engineers).
One of these scout frigates was the TEEF Frigate "Anubis' Brother", commanded by Venka Streyl, a female Khyrolii. Hers was a deep run, she was ordered to plot a course towards the galactic core, and using Slipstream drive, visit as many star systems as possible, looking for any evidence of interstellar or pre-stellar civilizations; potential customers or competitors.
So far the "Anubis' Brother" had scouted fifteen systems, and none of them showed any signs of civilization. Boredom and annoyance was peaking in the small crew, and even their daily digitial reality wargame simulations were getting stale. Intuition told Venka that perhaps the next system just might hold something more interesting that dead planets and comets...
((First responder gets to decide where the Anubis' Brother ends up next jump. Maybe a colony, disputed system, or even home system. Of course there's also the chance that maybe you're just visiting the area too.))
