OoC: I've seen election threads done before and I was wondering how one could Rp it when a nation has five legal political parties and about six or seven heads of state. Fyi, I use condorcet/IRV methods for voting according the factbook. How should I set it up to generate maximum interest?

Yes, the Korintari Directory is the collective head of state for Korintar. Basically imagine a presidential government where the cabinet is retained but the president was fired:p

Imagine the following scenario:
"Mr and Ms Presidents, X nation has launched 50,000 tactical and strategic nuclear weapons at our territory. They will arrive in ten minutes. What do we do?
Cue committee meeting, and resulting anhialation.;)
In any case, I have to ask, is the "cabinate" composed of members of one party, or all? Also, is this election for a cabinate, a legislature, or both?

I truly think it would be interesting. I like the characters I have now, but every now and then one needs new blood in their Rps, it'll keep people on their toes and I can generate more characters with more depth in them.
I really wouldn't make it a public vote. You know better than anyone else on this forum what the political climate of your nation is, and so our opinions may seem to you unrealistic if, for example, you think that your people are mostly socialists and we elect a neocon. As for how you generate interest, there's only so far that you can go. Good writing might get you some attention, but election RPs aren't particularly interactive unless you've got either a conspiracy to subvert your election or if you plan to turn it into a civil war.
That said, I agree with you that it could be a good way to flesh out some of your characters. Perhaps if you write it as a story rather than an open RP?

Each member deals with their own agencies. In the event of a nuclear attack the Security Director would give orders to the natikodi, the Korintari special ops/Space Force, to take out the nuclear weapons. I intend it to be for the Directory. If it just so happens that the votes come out so that one party has complete control of the Directory, so be it. All legal parties, there is one party that is illegal, but it is fascist and is prone to commiting terrorist acts, get involved by throwing their support to certain candidates who are nominated by the agencies they will govern over. So the school system picks candidates they feel are qualified from their ranks to govern as Education Director, Armed Forces and police nominate a slate of candidates for Security Director, etc. I hadn't thought of doing a senate race as well, because that could get far more hectic, but it stands to reason. Probably have a People's Court of the Inquisition election (definitely nonpartisan) as well, while we are at it. The lower house is non-elective, instead sortition is used.

You do raise interesting points. Most people do not get how participatory economics is supposed to work. They are only familiar with communism and capitalism. A neocon would not run in the elections- he/she would probably be involved in a conspiracy to overthrow the government during the elections, and since the head of the fascists has left Korintar to seek foreign support, I think having a civil war erupt could be highly plausible.
