Respected leaders of Mewsland,
Federal Goverment didn't fail to notice your consistant warmongering and saber-rattling.
Your move against Federal economy was not very smart,and your threats of war have only strenghtened our dedication against your genocidal country.
You say something about warcrimes and civil rights abuse done by The Protected Dictatorship of Anghele,and that is very hypocriticall thinking,as your own leader is a wanted criminal.
Tarrifs of 175% (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=14669904&postcount=91) for anyone trading with Anghele and the Grand World Order is considered a threat against our interests in some regions dominated by your pitifull country,and that is most likely going to change.
After a lenghtly consideration and numerous but profitablessy and sadly useless attempts to remain neutral and to keep friends with all sides and countries,we have decided to act.
Unless your country changes tarrifs to pre-sanctions valiues Federation will confiscate all goods held by Mewsland on Federal soil.
Second point is the recent update to your allready ill-writen pitifull excuse for a constitution.
Main problem is Ammendment number 31. with the following lines:

Amendment 31: Any pressure, from any source outside Mewsland, for any reason, directed towards a Mewslander, corporation, or the Government to try and coerce them into changing their opinion will be considered an Act of War against the Federation of Mewsland and will result in swift military action. We see this as a direct threat to Federal and generaly free world interests,and urge you to comply with the following demands.
We hope that somewhere in the Mewsland Goverment there is a responsible person who will see the trouble Mew Mæw II made because of his Imperialistic and Neo-Colonial tendencies.

*Reduce all tarrifs against the Federation to pre sanctions values.
*Cease all actions against International trade freighters
*Remove Ammendment no.31 from the current constitution
*Pay the fee of 300 000 000 standard $ as a refund to Federal Trade Bureau
*Open your harbors to Federal trading ships.
*20% off all Mewsland posesions on Federal soil will be considered as a refund.

Failiure in any of these requests will seal the fate of Mewsland with the Federal Guard as its final executor.
You have 12 hours to comply with these demands.
Read this warning carefully and take a good look of Mewsland through your window today,because if you fail in the morning you will see 82nd Mechanised on your streets and fields.

Official update from the Federation of Mewsland

Amendment 31 has already been struck null and void, as I was out of the country at the time, I ordered it struck (why my signature stamp was used I have no idea); Mewsland has no goods on Federal soil; and the tariffs are to be updated to where only nations supporting Anghele's actions. So long as you do not do so you have nothing to worry about. You call me a wanted criminal, I was cleared of all charges in that episode. That would be my half-sister you are thinking of. I am afraid no further demands can be met at this time, as Mewsland is very busy, involved in one war and the Anghele incidents. Good day to you.

OOC: NO! Don't give in so easily, Mewsland. These demands are completely unreasonable, and you were completely in your right to levy and taxes inside your nation.

OOC: I am not submitting to all of the demands. Only the ones which will allow Mewsland to remain, which, quite frankly, is almost nothing at all. Amendment 31 was not done by Mew, which is why Mew struck it out, as was with the 175% tariff on ALL nations trading with Anghele.

It's the same,your countries are civil welfare loving,and mine is based around its economy,so please dont be hypocritical.

Also after seeing that Mewsland came to some common sense,and immediatly returned to its idiotic policies,and as a response for the embargo folowing document has been issied.
Federation of Cukarica declares that Mewsland is now considered a rogue country and following acts will be put in action:
1.Any Mewsland ships that enter Federal watters will be taken in custody.
2.Any Mewsland ships in 15 Nautical Miles around Federal ships will be considered a no sail zone for Mewsland ships,and any Mewsland ship entering it will be confiscated.
3.Mewslanders on Federal soil will be deported and stripped off their belongings.
4.If any physical harm hapens to any Federal citizen on Mewsland soil and the goverment of Mewsland is involved in it,a state of war will be declared between The Federation of Cukarica and The Federation of Mewsland.

Subject: Tariffs levied against Wolf Hold shipping

We thought are part in this matter was over, after we had resolved the issue with MAC and our trading with them. However now it ha been brought to my attention that you are leveing 175% tariffs against anyone trading with the Anghele, this is unacceptable as it directly affects us and several of our close allies.
Many of are smaller private business have complained that your tariffs have made it impossible to trade with Anghele due to the fact that they can not support such tariffs. Unfortunately this has led to a severe decline in our economy which has led to cuts in many budgets including the defence budget. This has made several of our generals very un-happy.
Finally we learn that you have set an embargo against our longstanding ally and fellow CIS member Cukarica, we find this situation un-acceptable.

We bare no ill wishes towards the people of Mewsland but when there leaders actions directly cause detriment to The Wolf Hold, I believe we have no other option but to act. After due consideration with the CinC of Business Command I have decided to issue the following demands.

1) The 175% tariff is dropped from use against ALL nations trading with Anghele
2) Your embargo against Cukarica is dropped and any loss of income due to your embargo is re-paid in full
3) The lost income belonging to the Wolf Hold which has been lost due to Mewsland unprovoked and imperialistic tariffs is to be re-paid in full.
4) All private businesses that have suffered due to your Neo-Colonial tendencies to be reimbursed for there loss.
5) Your harbours are to re-open to Wolf Hold and MAC shipping again

Failure to comply with these demands will result in a severe decline in good diplomatic relations between The Wolf Hold and Mewsland. We hope to find someone inside Mewsland who has some common sense and will drop these nation crippling tariffs, if not we will follow the example of our ally Cukarica and designate you as a rouge state. Failure to respond to these demands within 24 hours will result in the following actions.

1) Mewsland being designated as a rouge state
2) All Mewslanders residing inside the Wolf Hold will have there possessions confiscated and they will be incarcerated until we can deport them back to Mewsland or a neutral country.
3) All Mewsland shipping residing in Wolf Hold owned harbours will be confiscated and any military vessels will be boarded and/or sunk.
4) Any Mewsland ship that approaches the Wolf Hold or any Wolf Hold naval assets will be considered hostile and sunk
5) Should harm befall and Wolf Hold citizens residing in Mewsland they will be given the full protection of The Wolf Holds forces and harming such individuals will be considered an act of war against the Wolf Hold

Be assured that this is not sabre rattling and these are not empty threats, we have every intention to follow through with our threats. Be advised that the 1st Longsword Battle group stands ready to protect our shipping should the need arise.

To whom it may concern,

It has come to Our attention that certain events are taking place regarding the nation of Anghele. It is Our desire to enumerate the position of the Empire of New Chalcedon, as a friend and ally of the Armed Republic of the Wolf Hold and the Federation of Cukarica, clearly, that no further misunderstandings may rise in this matter. Therefore:

Firstly, let it be known that the Empire of New Chalcedon deplores the actions, past and present, of the government of Anghele. By vote of the Imperial Senate, the Empire of New Chalcedon is imposing an embargo on the nation of Anghele. All Imperial citizens and corporations are forbidden, on pain of the Senate's displeasure, from trading with said nation, its citizens, its nationals, or any corporate Body based in said nation, and We strongly encourage Our friends and allies to make a like policy.

Secondly, let it be known that the Empire of New Chalcedon does not approve of the coercive tactics used by the current proponents of an international embargo, namely, threatening punitive tarriffs on any nation that does not comply with such policy, despite Our support of such embargo. Such tactics violate the norms of diplomatic relations and destabilise the world as a whole, irrespective of any good intentions at their heart.

Thirdly, let it be known that any member-state of the Commonwealth of Independant Nations is a friend and ally of the Empire of New Chalcedon. As such, whilst we will attempt to persuade Our friends and allies to join Us in this embargo, We will not permit any nation to attempt to exert such pressure as described above on Our allied nations. Any attempts to do so will meet with Our immediate and severest displeasure.

We trust that this makes the position of the Empire clear, and would like to add a personal observation: When nations all opposed to atrocities fall to bickering, the perpetrators win.

In the spirit of reconciliation and goodwill, therefore, We encourage the leaders of the embargo effort to recant their efforts at coercion - freedom cannot be won by forcing others to fight for it, whether the fight be economic, social or military. Further, We strongly advise Our friends and allies, specifically the governing bodies of the Federation of Cukarica and the Armed Republic of the Wolf Hold, to freely join in such embargo, in the spirit of freedom and human rights.

We are not compelling Anghele, or any of her allies, to do anything at this stage. But if they wish to trade with other nations, then they must expect that they be required to refrain from outraging the moral sensibilities of those nations.

Excuse me - I'd like to raise a point.

If Mewsland is a FT nation, then why the *hell* are you getting involved in a MT issue in the first place? I fail to see the logic - you insist that the tech barrier isn't when you want to get involved, but when other people start objecting to your actions, you then say "Oh, I'm an FT nation - nothing you can possibly do can affect me!"

Some consistency would be highly weclomed.

OK - no harm, no foul. (Well, not much, anyway).

However, while you have a point about the thread not being labelled, Mewsland, the default timeset is MT. Which means that you can call yourself MT or maybe PMT (New Chalcedon borders on being a PMT nation).

But the base is this: If you choose to get involved in touchy situations like this, then you expose your nation to consequences, which can be positive or negative.
