[ooc: the conflict previously that happened here has been retconned, along with the geography of the country. It's no longer like Afghanistan, and more like Chechnya or Azerbaijan. Feel free to officially deploy[preferably small numbers] troops, or RP as one of the many different PMC companies[most are working for the anti-government forces], or foreign fighter groups[keep in mind not all will cooperate]]
North-Western Adjikstan
Sergeant Nikolai Ginovaef looked out the window of the barracks. It was April, but it was still snowing here. He had been here for about 8 months, as a part of the spetsnaz regiment deployed to help secure their shared border. At their garrison's location, they had a clear view of the surrounding hills; Theoretically, they had the high ground. Their force had been deployed upon request of the Adjikstani 'President', because at the time they were dealing with an insurgency involving mercenaries and foreign volunteer fighters. They had put it down for a few weeks, then it's come back as strong as before.
Just a few days ago, there were several terrorist attacks inside the Adjikstani capital, killing a total of 73 people. Along with that, several Adjikstani military bases were hit with rockets and morter shells. The ANA had begun full scale operations against the mercenaries just yesterday, and their regiment was going to begin operations shortly.
About an hour or so passed, until Colonel Gurlukovich informed them of their mission. 2 different squads were to deploy to the ridge to the east of them and confirm a PMC camp for the Adjikstani airforce, who after receiving that information would bomb the target.
Sgt. Ginoveaf is the assistant squad leader of "B" squad, who would do the actual recon, while "A" squad would provide rear security and overwatch their position.
As their Ka-60's came and landed, the 16 commandos grabbed their equipment and were shortly on their way. In terms of equipment, they had SRChPRA-issued weapons, along with some ANA-issued equipment. Most of them didn't match, due to the terrain or personal preference.
They landed a little while later, and moved out on foot. Up on the ridge, they spotted a hostile patrol. Know that one of them had a radio, they stayed hidden until they had gotten a bit closer, before opening fire with suppressed AKMS's and OC-14's. After searching the bodies for useful documents, then dumped the bodies off the side of the hill, where they rolled down from obvious sight. Once they were at the top, they connected with "A" squad, and confirmed the target. They were to stay put until after the blast, then be picked up by a chopper.
"Mountain man, this is "A" squad, we've got confirmation of targets, over."
"Copy 'A', can you confirm any hard targets, over?"
"We see some choppers under tarps, and a few Ural trucks. No signs of heavy artillery. The camp is undermanned at the moment, platoon-size maximum."
"Copy, Su-24 Fencers are inbound, out."
As the aircraft approached, they dropped several bombs on the site before turning around and hitting it again, after which they returned to base. Secondary explosions suggested that the camp may have been a munitions or fuel dump. After the operation, they were informed that the country was deteriorating, as more and more foreign fighters came to fight. The rebels had ovverrun several ANA garrisons and supply depots, and could now fight on the offensive.
The Prime Minister slapped down on the table a file on Adjikstan, "So, now that this Cabinet meeting has begun, what do you all think should be done with the situation in this country?" The Chief of the Defense Staff cleared his throat, "Sir, if we get involved militarily I guarantee it will not be pretty. Mercenaries and foreign fighters can be a deadly mix, especially if there well trained." The Foreign Affairs Minister jumped into the conversion, "However, the country is suffering tremendously sir which you already know by reading that file." The PM nodded, "Yes, quite a moral dilemma we have here." He turned to face the Director of MCI (Military Command and Intelligence) "What can you tell us about the situation on the ground Director?" The Director straightened his tie, "According to Satellite imagery and what we can gather from intercepting communications is that the Mercenaries and foreign fighters have captured significant amounts of weapons and arms. They probably have a large offensive capability now."
"I see." Prime Minister Jeff Carson placed his hands in a position similar to the 'Thinker' statue. After a few seconds the Foreign Affairs Minister lend forward in his chair, "Mr. Prime Minister?" Jeff looked up suddenly, almost like he was in a trance, "We'll send a communique asking if the President of Adjikstan requires any assistance in the conflict."
"Very well sir."

Inside the Adjikstani presidential palace, the cabinet was frantic with incoming reports, and busy with making decisions about if they should asked for international help. Once the president had some spare time, he checked his inbox. After reading it, he replied:
From: President Ivan Yermakov, Republic of Adjikstan
To: Prime Minister Jeff Carson, Republic of Ustia
I would like to thank you for your offer, and I will accept any help you may have to offer. Currently we have little control over this situation, and time may be running out. I have received intelligence that the mercenary forces currently involved here are well equipped and not your run-of-the-mill soldier. Currently, I would like to request support with our communication technology, as it's a bit dated and somewhat outclassed by our enemies. Additionally, there are areas in which humanitarian aid is needed, but we are unable to get to at the moment.
Sincerely,
Ivan Yermakov
He sent the message before his secretary of defense entered his office.
"Mr. President, shall I request additional forces from out neighbor?"
"If you must. We don't have that many forces out west, so it's only a matter of time before they come under attack."
He sent a message to the GRU Colonel of the forces incountry, who then forwarded it back home. Because of the conflict back home, they would only be able to commit a single Division, with limited air support. They would be arriving by motorcade within a few days.
SRChP garrison
It wasn't long before they came under fire. A combined force of ANA troops and SRChP spetsnaz came under fire and was for the most part wiped out in the mountains, 43 casualties in total. It was bad enough that they didn't have enough ammunition for any serious operations, let alone enough man power to fully sweep the surrounding mountains. They just had to keep the rebels from overrunning their position. Out of the original 2000 commandos deployed, only about 300 remained, since the bulk were called back. Much of the garrison was occupied by friendly volunteer troops or Adjikstani soldiers.

Benjamin Cameron, CEO of Starkwood Private Military Contractors, walked into the boardroom. "OK, gentlemen, what've we got?" Starkwood's Intell Executive rose from his seat. "Adjikstan has been having some trouble recently with insurgents. Their army is reacting, but taking heavy losses. We have strong reasons to believe that there are foreign fighters involved." "Outside involvements?" queried Cameron. "Ustia have offered support, but they've got nada on the ground." "OK..." Benjamen paused. "Send 'em an offer."

Northwestern Adjikstan
As predicted, rebels and hostile PMCs began their assault on the SRChP garrison. Just before dawn, RPG's and mortars were launched at the buildings and surrounding area. The ANA troops on site set up defensive positions, but for the most part were pinned down by the explosions. Attacking from the front were dozens of rebels, sporadically shooting at anybody they saw. While the ANA and SRChP spetsnaz were taking positions, a mortar struck the radio tower, rendering it useless for the time being.
On the south-eastern flank, the spetsnaz had manned the NSV machine gun that was stationed inside the trench. Their targets were further away, and weren't shooting at them with rifles. They did, however, have lots of RPG-18's and appeared to have rolled an ancient Maxim machine gun and were in the process of loading it.
They were out of range of their AKM's, so the NSV let loose bursts at the rebels position, killing 3 while another 5 took cover. One of them launched an RPG-18 at their position, exploding just feet from the trench.
Back at the front of the base, they had routed the rebels using sniper rifles and the arrival of a BMD-4, which inflicted heavy losses on the rebels. On the other two sides, the attackers appeared to have pulled back to regroup, and were testing the bases defenses. During the break in the fighting, they moved the wounded indoors, while counting their dead; the mortars had killed 4 spetsnaz and 3 ANA troops along with a single local friendly, while the actual shooting had only killed 4 ANA troops and 6 friendly volunteers. The reinforcing Division was still en route, so the had to hold them off until they arrived, hopefully with some air power.

Scene: At the Red House, Conference Room where a General Staff Meeting is happening
Premier Mateo Umaga ordered a General Staff Meeting. The Premier ordered a meeting regarding International Issues that Union Socialist State of Martilia is facing. The meeting is almost 2 hours since it was started, then the Minister for Agriculture, Edgardo Vargara, said about the situation between Anti-Government PMCs and the country of Chernobyl-Pripyat, "Premier, shouldn't we talk about the situation in Adjikistan, we think that the country of Chernobyl-Pripyat needs help against those rebels". Premier Umaga answered jokingly "Wow! I dont know that the Minister for Agriculture know about anything related to war", the Premier laughs and also the other staffs. "I'm just kidding. Alright, we will assist the Socialist Republic Chernobyl-Pripyat. We will send 1 Infantry Brigade with an Artillery Battalion, an Sniper Battalion and Medical Battalion. We will also send 1 Armored Brigade. After this, I will make a letter requesting where our troops will land. I hope that SRChP will accept the agreement", the Premier said. It took another hour until it ended. After the meeting, the Premier quickly get to his office and started to make a letter, while the Field Marshall Pulag readies the units that the USSM will send to assist SRChP.

I understand, the necessary communications you requested along with Humanitarian aid will arrive with the 2nd Regiment of the 66th Airborne Division. I would like to know exactly where the Humanitarian Aid is needed so distribution can begin immediately. Furthermore, the 2nd Regiment is prepared to assist in combat if you deem it necessary. This force will arrive within a few hours in your capital considering it’s most likely the safest place to land troops and materials. Also, due to the situation I will be having fighter escorts accompanying the transport aircraft considering you stated there not your run-of-the-mill soldier. I hope this force does some good.
Sincerely,
Prime Minister Jeff Carson
Tolvin Air Force Base, Island of Tolvin:
Tolvin AFB was alive with activity, Galaxy's and Skyfreighter's could be seen packed or being packed full of vehicles, equipment and men. Among this packing was Colonel Adam Germain, Commander of the 2nd Regiment and all DARF (Disaster Assistance Response Force) units attached to his regiment. He was situated with 72 other men and women in the upper rear deck of a C-5 Galaxy. The deck almost looked like an ordinary airline, with seats distributed in nice organized rows. The only thing really missing was the good-looking flight attendant. Adam was oblivious to all this, he was examining satellite footage on his Gründer Industries laptop and reading the latest MCI reports on the situation on the ground. His second in command, Lieutenant Colonel Bernhard or "Bern" as everyone called him, was seated next to him. He was checking and cleaning his G125 while looking at the laptop, "The SRChP garrison is getting hit pretty hard Colonel."
"Yes there are, pour bastards." The pilots voice came over the aircraft's PA system, "Were about to take off everybody, strap yourself in." Metallic clicks could be heard throughout the deck as everyone readied for take off. The Galaxy's engines fired up, a few seconds later the aircraft began to taxi for takeoff. Adam noticed that Bern was still holding on to his weapon, "Bern? You going to put up that rifle?"
"Its not loaded sir."
"Whatever Bern, just don't misfire on me."
"You got it Colonel." One by one the Galaxy's and Skyfreighter's took off into the sky, each one closely followed by a squadron of fighters. At the same time in Lumen, another group of transports and fighters were taking off. The two groups would meet up in the Adjikstani capital.

Very well. They will be arriving shortly.
When the confirmation came, the deployment began. Four C-130H Hercules transports bearing the Starkwood logo lifted off. After an hour, they were over Adjikstani airspace. They each carried 100 mercenary soldiers. As they neared the capital, the lead Hercules requested the location of the airport and permission to land.

Once the inbound aircraft were identified, they were given clearance to land at the Adjikstani capital, Kamyrets. Upon landing, the Ustian personnel would be instructed to provide aid and support to the city of Smolensk, which was about an hour or so south of the capital. Traveling with them would be an MVD company, as to calm the populace, who may or may not know about the aid convoy as of yet.
The Starkwood PMC's were instructed to provide security for another aid convoy heading west, to the Tumanskaya region. Going in that direction was a ANA military convoy, mostly Ural trucks, BTR-80A's and KZKT-7428 tank transport trucks, with T-80UM2 'Black Eagle' tanks as their cargo.
Meanwhile, the SRChP garrison had held off 6 more attacks on the base until the reinforcing division arrived. The arrival of friendly gunships scattered the rebels, who fled back into the mountains after taking heavy losses in open terrain. The 19th Motor Rifle Division would meet up with the Adjikstani forces that were going to begin securing the cities and towns that the rebels and enemy PMC's had 'liberated'.
The C-130s landed and the group leaders began organizing the convoy escort. The M117s would be escorting the convoy along with half of the Humvees. The other half of the Humvees, along with the IFAVs, would be operating in a large circle around the convoy, working to stop any ambushes before they happened.
As the massive air convoy closed in on Kamyrets, the group began to separate into smaller pieces in order to facilitate the landing in an orderly fashion. Onboard the Colonels aircraft, every Airman checked there weapons and made sure there gear was in working order. To he's right, he saw Bern lock and load his Rifle, "That safety better be on Bern!"
"Sir! This is my safety!" Bern moved his trigger finger in front of Adam and smiled. Adam did not return the smile, his blank stair made Bern go silent for the rest of the flight. The PA suddenly crackled once more, "Will be making are decent soon everybody. It also looks like someone beat us here, huh." The transport started to slowly head down, turning Adam's insides into a pit. After a few seconds of decent, the Galaxy touched down on the strip and taxied over to an empty hanger. One by one, transports landed and unloaded their cargo in conveyor belt fashion. Chief among this cargo was the M59A1 “Russ” Light Tank's and M113A6D "Crusader" Infantry Fighting Vehicle's that would be the core of the Regiment. As the various Loadmaster's carried out there duties, Adam and Bern started to get there bearing's straight. Almost immediately they were informed of there objective in Smolensk so the two quickly opened up satellite footage of the area to determine the best routes. In all reality, it didn't matter what route they choice, the possibility of being ambushed becomes very high when you’re trying to move a whole regiment to one particular area. "So Colonel, how do you want to go about this fun little adventure?" Adam just sat there looking at the map in deep thought, or at least that's what Bern thought. After what seemed like a lifetime, Adam finally spoke, "We'll use the Pegasus helicopters to move a large enough force to establish a camp in the blink of an eye."
"Good idea, but what about the rest of the Regiment?" Adam highlighted the ground route on his laptop, "We'll send the convoy in groups, one by one up the road and under the constant protection of the Russ Tanks along with the Crusader's. We'll also have the Bellicus squadron on standby incase things get really out of control."
"Good plan, lets get it done." When everything was unloaded and ready to go, the regiment was sent into motion. The initial Battalion loaded up into the massive Pegasus helicopters along with their vehicles and necessary equipment for the camp. Little by little the Battalion lifted off towards Smolensk while at the same time, the first convoy group set off for the city as well. Adam and Bern looked on as the enormous force started the first act of Ustian involvement in Adjikstan. Each one knew that the road ahead would be difficult and many lives would be lost, but the men also knew the Ustian spirit could and would endure in this conflict like all the rest.
Hryvatia
11-04-2009, 23:05
Central Hryvatia (Srednja Hryvácija)
Location: uninspiring
General bojnik Preradović wasn't at all surprised at what he was looking at. After all, the man he was looking for always had peculiar tastes. The four-by-four Preradović rode in was absolutely filthy, speckled with a mosaic of old, dry dirt, caked on; and fresh, damp mud. An unexpected bump on the road threw the Major General's head upward into the roof. It's suspension was also obviously beginning to fail too.
Preradović rubbed his injured dome tentatively. Satisfied, he secured his beret and returned his attention to the scene outside. This was definitely the place, he had his investigators probe local mail couriers for information and although they were at first rather unforthcoming, the threat of a firm hand soon saw them talking. Kovač was here. Here on this backward, decaying farmstead, perfectly nestled in dense forests of the central highlands. It was far from what Preradović, and indeed most Hryvatians, were normally used too. He had already began to long for the warmth and bright blue sea of the coast he had left only hours before.
A thick fog was creeping in slowly from the treeline, threatening to engulf the private hamlet in invisibility, just the way Kovač would like it. Without warning the dim mist suddenly flickered a violent orange in accompaniment to the distant crackle of automatic gunfire, causing the haphazard convoy to rattle to an uncertain stop. Soldiers piled out the doors of the four-by-fours and razed their rifles decisively in the direction of the stead, which was barely within view. A silhouette began to emerge from within the fog, taking the form of a man hunched over an assault rifle. The rifle was pointed menacingly at the twenty or so of Preradović's bodyguards. The figure stopped at no more than twenty meters and held its ground.
"Jesi prisvajanje tuđeg, vraćati se boravište!"
The deep, rough voice echoed throughout the clearing, causing a handful of Preradović's men to check each other for signs of action.
"Vraćati se boravište, inače ja ću ubiti!"
Men shuffled uneasily in their feet. Preradović grabbed his pistol and exited the vehicle, striding towards the source of the bellowing. As he came closer he began to discern his features: the intimidating stature; the large torso, although by no means young; the untamed hair, obviously home-cut; the unshaven chin; the weathered skin; the deep, dark crow's feet. As he grew closer, the man's expression remained unchanged.
"Preradović"
Preradović nodded, still with his pistol in hand.
"Kovač" he returned. The two stood in silence for several moments.
"What do you want, Preradović?" Kovač began, his rifle still trained square on Preradović's chest. His bodyguards remained where he left them, them too still with rifle raised.
"I have a job for you, Komandir Kovač-"
"You have the wrong man, I am Mister Kovač"
Another silence ensued, before Preradović began a series of small nods. Kovač stood like stone, his posture unchanged.
"I have a mission for you. I need someone I can trust, Kovač"
Kovač's eyes darted to the pistol in Preradović's hand before darting back to meet him in the eyes once more,
"Someone you trust or someone you know will get the job done, General bojnik"
Preradović holstered his pistol and raised his hands to his mouth, blowing warm breath on them in an attempt to bring them back to life.
"The latter, I suppose. It's dangerous"
"And the payment?"
At Kovač's half-sarcastic question Preradović looked around him, spreading his arms wide,
"I will buy you a new farm! Something better than this brodolom, anyway"
Kovač's eyes tensed as he replied sharply;
"You have nothing to offer me, Prerad-"
"Yes I do, Kovač; transit papers"
"To the coast?"
"Yes Kovač, to the coast."
Kovač lowered his rifle.
"What is the mission, Preradović?"
"Adjikstan is the mission, Komandir"

mid-day, Western Adjikstan
After the base had been secured by reinforcing troops, they were now tasked with resupplying the gunships, who landed in a clear area on site. Once they were done, they were to travel another few miles to the designated meeting point.
A Colonel in charge of the 19th MRT division entered the administration build of the garrison, to meet with the GRU Colonel.
After he looked around the room, noticing shell casings and broken glass he suspected the rebels did get fairly close.
"So what's the plan, Sergei? It's not the old days anymore, you can't expect your enemy to fight correctly."
Colonel Gurlukovich, an old man in his 60's, with a long combat record, both official and non-official sat down on a sofa and rubbed his eyes, and after putting his AK-74 to the side said:
"Mine the hills. That's where most of the attacks came from, and where a good number retreated to multiple times. One of the Adjikstani soldiers had gone out to scavenge the enemy's dead, came back with some interesting documents. Half of them were foreign passports, and large sums of money on one of their officers. Dasha shot that one through the head, I saw it myself. Are your men ready to move?
"Shortly, I'll inform the air and artillery crews to launch some mine dispensers up on and over the heights. The 503rd and 693rd Motorized Rifle Regiments with a tank detachment will proceed to the east as planned. The rest will prepare a airstrip here."
"Good. I'll get in contact with the GHQ and see if we can get more gunships. Additionally, I'll divert a company of my commandos to move with your troops."

Near Snezinsk, Adjikstan. 60,000 Feet.
Pilot Grigori Bogdanov was flying a Dassault Mirage F1m-53 with his wing man Ivan Komoyetov near the city of Snezinsk on a routine patrol mission. Then a voice rang out over the radio,
"Goddamn it, we need some(insert choice words) fighters down here now, we are pinned down by enemy forces about 20 miles southwest of Snezinsk, the enemy is attacking in large numbers and seems to have air support, get down here now. Ground 1, Out!"
The two aircraft banked into a sharp turn toward the south, they had to save their comrades. Grigori spoke into his mouthpiece for the radio,
"This is Red Fox 1-1 to Ground 1, we acknowledge your distress signals and we are deploying to the area, ETA 5 minutes, Out!"
In the distance they could see a clearing with a small hill surrounded by troops engaged in a firefight, it seemed that the Nehrlandi troops were losing because 3 Nehrlandi tanks had been destroyed and the rest were immobilized, the IFVs assigned to the troops had not arrived from Nehrland yet and therefore could not be deployed, so the infantry had it's back against the wall with no armored support, a scene that had occurred many times before in Nehrlandi history. Grigori spoke into his mouthpiece,
"This is Red Fox 1-1 to Ground 1, passing overhead now."
The two jet Mirages had descended to just over 500 feet as they shot overhead of the Nehrlandi forces, they had come to the rescue.
"This is Ground 1, do you see the artillery on the north side of the hill? Neutralize it."
The two thirty millimeter cannons roared to life as Grigori calmly pressed the small red button on the joystick, firing the cannons. Almost instantaneously the artillery pieces disappeared in puffs of dirt that were kicked up by the 30 millimeter armor-piercing rounds.

We will include you in the AFOR mission currently underway, an airfield is awaiting your aircrafts
---------------------------
From the operation's base the Colonel from the 19th MRT Division sent out communications with the other peacekeeping troops from other nations.
"All forces working with the Adjik government will be designated "AFOR", and should cooperate and maintain communications."
----------
After the little skirmish, ANA and SRChP troops were preparing to take Snezinsk. They heared over open communication channels about the Nehrlandi forces operating nearby, and care had to be taken with indirect fire. Because the 19th wasn't a full-combat readiness formation, they were not immediately equipped with the newest equipment. They used older T-72's, without the new 'FireStarter' uplink system, and several of their tanks lacked ERA. The infantry wore older VSR-93 uniforms, but did have new production armor vests and could still operate efficiently.
They confirmed that most of the city's population had fled the city after the rebels and enemy PMC's had occupied it.
"Attention Nehrlandi AFOR troops, this is Colonel Vyacheslav of the SRChP Red Army AFOR contingent, we, along with the Adjik Federal forces will be moving into Snezinsk shortly. Watch for incoming fire, over."
Once the forces moved in from the north part of town, they met little heavy artillery fire, thanks to the Nehrlandi air strike on the rebel support base, which was previously not known at the time.
[Aside from Radio officers, all the soldiers have handheld radios, and can be listened in on easily if one were to actively search for the channel]
"Kombat, this is Alpha-1, we've moved into the outskirts, taking small arms fire from various points, over."
"Copy Alpha-1, eliminate hostile forces, then continue to the target zone."
"Bravo-1-3 to Alpha-3, check fire"
"Alpha-0 to Kombat, we've lost a tank, advise all units to watch for landmines."
"Copy Alpha-0, all units watch for mines, over"
"Alpha-6, light infantry in the open in your sector, over"
"Copy... Found them, engaging."
"Alpha-1 to Alpha-0, requesting Ambulance support, multiple casualties here, over."
"Bravo-2, enemy armor enroute, taking positions."

"Bravo-2, enemy target I.D.'d as 'Black Eagle' tank, Ural-2[T-72BV] is engaging"
"Armadillo-3[BTR] to Kombat, we've secured a building, currently engaging ,more targets to the south."
A Kamov squadron made a few passes at enemy hard targets in the city, then was heard over the radio:
"Hammerhead-6-2, enemy concentration moving towards the city from the south, probably from the force that was attacking the other AFOR troops."
"Copy Hammerhead, will advise ground forces. rearm and engage."

Near AFOR Airfield, Adjikistan
The modified Airbus A380, under control of the Garmidia Air Force, was approaching the airfield at which the AFOR troops were to arrive at. It was carrying 350 of the 500 troops sent by Garmidia and the next plane was due to arrive soon, as well as the Hercules C-130 that Garmidia had promised to deliver to the Adjikistan government.
There was a large AFOR mission underway already, and these troops were to be included in the operations.
"AFOR Airfield, this is Gonzo-Two-Gonzo, flying in your troops from Garmidia. Ready to land."
A static noise came over the radio.
"Roger that Gonzo-Two-Gonzo, approach Runway 35 L, straight in, AFOR Airfield."
"Copy AFOR Airfield, approach Runway 35 L, straight in, Gonzo-Two-Gonzo."
The plane's engines were slowing, and make a slight decent towards the runway.
25 Minutes Later
"Gonzo-Two-Gonzo, this is AFOR Airfield, you are cleared to land, Runway 35 L."
"Copy AFOR Airfield, cleared to land, Runway 35 L, Gonzo-Two-Gonzo."
The Plane made a slow approach to the runway, lining it self up.
1 Hour Later
The last of the troops had unloaded. They stood in a massive formation, and a man leading one of the AFOR missions had come to brief them on their mission.
"Alright everyone, the second we land I want those TrellTents and Hesco's up and running ASAP. Remember, perimeter security and the hospital are top priority." The Lieutenant Colonel closed the BnCOM channel and examined the geography of Smolensk one last time on his laptop. He'd decided to set up the DARF camp just outside the city in an open grass field. It seemed like a logical choice but something seemed to be nagging at him. He continued to look at the bird’s eye view of the field, searching for something. After a while he stopped himself, "Nothing's wrong Claus, just put the laptop down and ready yourself for the landing." The Lieutenant Colonel carefully put his Laptop away in his Rucksack and grabbed his G125. The Pegasus fleet closed in on the LZ. Slowly but methodically each one touched down on the grassy field, immediately unloading their precious cargo. DARF engineers quickly went to work setting up the Hesco Bastion Perimeter and inflating the trusty TrellTents. As each Trell was assembled the engineers connected several of them to form a temporary hospital of sorts. Over the top of the Trell's they placed the universal Red Cross symbol in hopes that the opposing force would respect it. Meanwhile other DARF engineers where working hard to cover up the various vehicles in the Battalion with camouflage netting, including the Command and Control Vehicle that Claus was now stationed in. Inside the C&C, The Lieutenant Colonel monitored the ground convoy's progress on the various screens in the cabin, "Group 1 to Camp, do you copy? Over." Claus grabbed a headset, "We copy, go ahead."
"Can you give me an update?"
"Roger that. Construction is underway at a rapid pace, we should be just about done before your arrival, over."
"Wilco, Group 1 over and out." Claus put down the headset and stepped outside of the C&C, to his left he saw the engineers seating up makeshift Barracks in neat, orderly rows. To his right, Airborne units were setting up sandbag fortifications in front of the opening in the perimeter while a LUMPS II stood guard directly behind them. The camp was indeed alive with activity, even more so when the Russ Tanks of Group 1 arrived along with the groups massive amounts of men and supplies. Even as Group 1 begun to settle in the camp and DARF engineers continued to expand it, a second convoy was already in route from the ground and the air as well. These trips would continue until the entire regiment was settled into a massive base outside of Smolensk.

Road to the West Village, Adjikistan
"Alright, listen up. We've got a village being evacuated in the West. We have to provide assistance in rear security and the evacuation process. There are approximately 150 people who need evacuating. Let's move." The Joint AFOR commander said.
The military buses sped along a hastily made dirt road. There were nearly 200 Garmidian troops being sent to the village to help with efforts.
The buses came to a stop. Garmidian troops poured out of the back entrances to the buses. The ran in a giant blob of people, their M4A1s ready to start shooting. There were civilians running everywhere in the village.
That was when they came. Several Technicals, carrying many anti-government forces rolled down a hill opposite of the Garmidian troops and unloaded. They began shooting at the civilians.
"RETURN FIRE!" The AFOR Commander shouted.
At almost an instant, forty or fifty Garmidian troops started firing at the anti-government forces. Then half ran for cover, taking shelter in abandoned buildings and behind walls. The other half ran for the civilians, managing to get most of them away from the direction of the shooting.
The Anti-government forces sheltered behind trees and buildings adjacent to the Garmidian forces.
Sporadic fighting continued for a long time.

Leading the platoon was 1st Lieutenant Andy Hsin Chan, a 21-year old from Liberty City and an ex-LCPD officer. He knew how to handle investigations as well as both urban and close-quarters combat as well as proficiency in English, Mandarin Chinese, and German, his mother's language. However, in Eastern Europe, he had to rely on his assistant 2nd Lt. Vasily Han, a Chinese-Russian from Vostok, to translate for him. Once the time came, Alpha began their operation. The first sentry continued his patrol, unaware of the spetesnaz operative laying in a ditch running parallel to to the path. He had stopped to light a cigarette, then took a ballistic knife in the eye. He was quickly dragged into the ditch, and the frequency of his radio was written down. "We've breached the perimeter without detection. Damn. In our country, we'd be caught before we got within 25 meters from this place due to our government's lax regulations on surveillance cameras." Chan scanned the area for any immediate threats through his NVGs, and found one sentry smoking a cigarette while holding his AK-74 in one hand by the side of the main building. "Hold on - we got a hostile guard in our sights. Moving in to neutralize threat. Franz, take your M4 and waste the guard with your suppressor. Single shots only."
"My pleasure, sir," replied Staff Sergeant Jeff Franz, an ex-Ranger from Las Venturas. He prepped his Colt M4A1 with a night-vision sniper scope and a surpressor, then crouched onto the ground. He was about 50 meters from the target - cakewalk. As soon as Franz had the guard in his sights, he let out two shots. One 5.56mm struck the target in the center part of the chest, while the other landed in his skull, confirming a kill. "Forward area clear."

"We're on the upper level on the opposite side off the building. Prepare to storm the building."
They checked their AKS-74's again, setting it to 'auto' before stacking in position near the fire door. The operative at the front prepared his flash grenade to throw once the door was kicked in.
"Bravo-1 advance!"
The door was kicked, and the grenade thrown in, stunning the sentry near the blast. As they entered, they began to open fire on everyone on the walkway on the second floor, catching many off guard. As they approached the office room where the radios were, someone took a few aimed shots at them, killing an operative instantly, and wounding 2 others[body armor isn't commonly worn by spetsnaz during stealth missions]. When the man reloaded his rifle[SKS], he turned around the corner to continue firing, but was gunned down as they got close. They entered the room and shoot both the main radio and the 3 men who were in the room.

Chan's team stormed the lower level of the building and split into two teams - one to stay downstairs and one to assist Alpha team upstairs where they heard intense gunfire. Franz yelled to the Spetsnaz operatives, "All Alpha units, watch your fire! Friendlies coming up to the second level!"
In the stairwell, 2 sentries were prepared to ambush the Spetsnaz in the communications room with AKMS rifles, only to be cut down by the pointman's murderous Saiga shotgun fire. Franz and his section entered the comm room, where they met up with their counterparts. "Hold your fire, it's Bravo!"
--
Meanwhile, Bravo swept through the lower level room by room, finding no one but an unconcious guard next to three empty bottles of vodka and what appeared to be a sleeping tied-up hostage. Chan radioed Franz, "Jeff, I think we found a hostage right here who could possibly supply us with vital information. Wait for us upstairs. We have to bring him up."
Bravo team then removed the restraints on the hostage, waking him up. Other squad members, in turn, bound and gagged the incapacitated guard. The hostage answered in Oxford English, "What the bloody hell is going on here? Is it the company mercs?"
"No. We're here to get you out."

"Roger. All Bravo elements, regroup upstairs." Soon, all the Delta troops came upstairs, with the freed hostage and the sleeping guard they had taken prisoner. "What is it?"
Chan peered into the documents that identified two enemy agents as European Federation operatives. With his experience in LCPD Port Authority, he looked closer at the 'official' stamps, working the details. Back in Liberty City, he had seen all types of stamps from the European Federation, but never like the ones in the agents' passports. "Sons of bitches want to pass off as Euros? Well, I'll be damned. They have the real papers, all right. But the stamps? They had to either have an expert stampmaker in their employment or there's a cesspool in the EF government. Cross-check these passports with any Adjik passports once we get back to HQ, then check who these people really are."
Franz came to Chan and said, "You know, the Forgotten Army has been known for attacks within Western Europe, especially that attack on a weapons lab in the Netherlands two years ago. I bet this is how they got in undetected."
Vasily, who was talking to Belyakov about the documents, came to them and sighed. "We better call Schwarzkopf about the missiles. Tell him we couldn't find them, but we found something even more shocking."

"SIS got word about the Forgotten Army getting a hold of M-11 IRBMs and sent me and my partner - who they executed - to destroy them. Unfortunately, I barely got within 100 meters of their facility before we were captured, tortured, and subsequently imprisoned."
"Wait - you know the location of the missiles?"

They came out and cleared another house. Connor Lyell was with the team.
Then they approached a building that was closest to the rebels, opposite of the building Lyell was just in.

During a mountain sweep operation SRChP troops had stumbled upon a series of concrete bunkers, protected by large numbers of PMC's and rebels. This would be one of the largest battles that the peacekeeping force had engaged in.
"B Platoon, Alpha Company, flank left and take that ridge, C Platoon watch their flank"
The 39 soldiers from Alpha Company moved up the side of the hill, with the occasional bullet cracking against the rocks. At the top they entered a firefight with a handful of PMC's, who were moving in place to set up a machine gun. Once they were all dead or wounded, the soldiers advanced into the position, finishing off any incapacitated PMC's before setting up their own PKP machine gun on some rubble, making a nest. Another soldier had taken the fallen mercenaries' FN-MAG and fired at the enemy who was coming up the hill to attempt to retake it. As they began firing on the enemy near the front of the buildings, they evacuated their dead and wounded after taking their ammunition.
Meanwhile, the rest of their company advanced up the road supported by their BMP-3's.

Some commandos breached one of the windows briefly; the spetsnaz operative grabbed the man by his webbing and shoved him over the railing before getting shot in the back by the commando who followed. Since spetsnaz usually work in pairs in these situations, while he was reloading he swung the rifle like a bat a the head of the hostile who was now crawling through the window, resulting in him to curse in German before being bludgeoned with an AK-74. One of the spetsnaz who'd been out of ammo for a few minutes now picked up the G36 off the dying man on the floor near the walkway, along with the patch on his sleeve and began shooting out of his post again.
Belyakov said to Chan, while reloading "Chopper should be here soon, close the remaining shutters while I gather up my dead and wounded, then meet us on the roof, the chopper should be here soon."

We now go to field reporter Olya Stasenko, who is currently at the AFOR camp."
*The reporter is interviewing Colonel Gurlukovich and several soldiers who had been medevac'd from the comabt site on top of the hill*
"How has your operations been so far?"
The colonel, seems like he can't be bothered at the moment, replies: "We are currently in the active combat stage, as you can see. ANA troops were successful in a preemptive strike that severely delayed rebel actions, and my troops are currently engaging a stronghold where it is believed that a key militant has taken refuge."
"There is rumor that supplies have been running low as of late?"
"I have addressed that with the supply headquarters across the border, and it's been corrected."

5 Air Force Boeing 747-400s and 2 C-130 Hercules were taking off with 2/3rds of the 3,000 Garmidian troops leaving for Adjikistan. The next 3 planes would be carrying 236 military equipment, and 17 of the jet fighters being dispatched would be departing separately. Lt. Colonel Andrew Rodriguez was in charge of the 7th Battalion of the Garmidian Marines, aboard one of the modified Garmidian Air Force Boeing 747-400s. He sat in one of the chairs, staring out the window, waiting for the plane to take off. It would take 6 hours to reach Adjikistan.

At the AFOR camp, engineers were busily making the camp larger. The airfield, which until now had been just a dirt one, was now being prepped with tarmac for the incoming Garmidian aircraft. Several more hundred meters of trench were dug, along with a shallow pit for the ZU-23's, which were rather useful in fire support missions. Another 2 regiments of SRChP troops were inbound, from the Treneska Guards Division. The separate tank detachment consisted of T-90U tanks, which would be more effective thanks to the twin 30mm cannons they had on the sides of the turret.

15 Minutes until AFOR Camp, Adjikistan Airspace
[OOC: Speeding it up a little... :))
It had been 6 hours. Most of the troops were about ready to go to sleep, but they were only 20 minutes from the AFOR Camp airbase. This was the first aircraft of many to come, including Jet fighters, which would have been refueled over air. Andrew Rodriguez yawned as he prepped himself for landing. Some of the troops would have to go on missions as soon as they got off, he thought, and really hoped it wasn't him who would have to go... although he knew he would.

Chan, hearing the commando, cursed in German, stomped on his dying body and hissed, "You fucked with the wrong people, now you shall die in vain. He spat on his body before swapping his AK-103 out for his old M16, taking the 5.56mm ammunition from the dead commandos.
"Belyakov, we have to get out of here. The hostage is going to come with us for debriefing, and the prisoner's coming for interrogation. Vasily, how many casualties so far?"
"2 KIA, 4 wounded."

The 747 touched down smoothly on the newly made tarmac runway. It slowed to a stop and the back hatch opened up. Wary Garmidian Marines piled out of the back of the plane, exited the runway and the two Lt. Colonels in charge of the two platoons (with another one expected shortly) stood in front of the formation of Marines as well as two other AFOR commanders. The 747 just managed to do a complete turn after being refueled, ready for takeoff back to Dastin International.
Soon enough the next planes and jets would arrive.

"Chopper is on it's way, start moving to the roof."
As they maneuvered up the stairs some of the commandos breached a window. As they entered Belyakov doubled tapped them both with his USP in the head, then threw a Flash grenade out the window.
The Mi-8MT was modified to have a pintle-mounted PKM[though in this case, a AEK-999, due to it's PMS suppressor which reduced the muzzleflash and audible report.]. As it came around, the gunner fired bursts at the enemy on the ground, taking down a few who were caught in the open.
as it decended upon the roof, the spetsnaz who were last to get on the roof trew some captured frag grenades down the hall at the commandos who were following, though they were unsure if they had gotten any.
On the chopper, the wounded were being treated by the medics who had tagged along in the chopper. The operative who had taken the patch off of the sleeve of the dead commando was talking to Belyakov about it. He examined it, then handed it to Chan.
"E.C..."
One of the medics then said: "A few weeks ago on the border, some EF troops shot up a few MVD officers. In retaliation survivors that squad gunned down a few of their citizens. Most of those men ended up in Kolgujev in a penal regiment, while a few others are incharge of some squads operating here. Both governments kept quite about that one."
The RTO of the helicopter said over their radios about five minutes later "One of our Motor Rifle squads captured a rebel hideout, with some important leaders captured alive. We're heading back to the garrison to I.D. them."

"The are the new people, right? Ok, they are going to be moving out in 6 hours to the north with some of our troops once they arrive. They will be sweeping the mountains, then setting up outposts once the area is secured."
some hours later..
The combat regiments from the Treneska Guards Brigade arrived, then were prepped for moving out with the Garmidian Marines. Their BTR-90's were being fueled, and the T-90U's being resupplied for convoy escort duty, along with the BMP-T convoy escort vehicles.

Once everything was ready, they had set up an open radio channel between both forces.
"All units, just follow the vehicle in front of you. All infantry are now instructed to watch the hillsides once we get into the valley, since we can guarentee that the BMP-T's can cover anything. The radio is open, so if you see something.. well, just shout it out."
With that, the T-90U at the front started it's engine and proceeded forward, with the long column of vehicles around it. A squadron of Kamovs was flying above[1 Ka-52, 2 Ka-50] for support and spotting targets up ahead. It would now be about an hour drive before reaching the foot of the mountains.

The first group to reach the top of one of the surrounding heights got on the radio.
"HQ, this is 9th, we are at the top. Proceeding to sweep for mines, then digging in."
At this part, 2 SRChP Companies[7th and 9th], along with some Garmidian forces would be assigned to make the outpost.

Two more trucks appeared in the distance, but unloaded their cargo before advancing. The first truck, which crashed about 360m away, was being used as cover by the rebels who weren't seriously injured by the crash. They began firing in bursts with assorted rifles[mostly AK-74's, FAL's and a PKM.

The 2 squads that were told to flank right were now in position and started shooting, with the AT rifleman shooting an OG-7V grenade form his RPG-7 at the position of the flipped technical.
The soldiers with RPK-74's started firing long[5-8 round] bursts at rebels, mostly intended as suppression fire, while the marksmen with SVDM's picked off the rebels who were pinned.
Witht he decrease in volume of enemy fire, several SRChP squads relocated to better defensible positions. During this time, they fired numbers of VOG-25 grenades. Since the GP-30 is closer to a mortar then a grenade launcher, it was relatively easy to launch grenades behind the enemy's cover.
One the Kamov squadron arrived, they unleashed S8 80mm rockets on the positions of the other technicals, causing many casualties for the rebels. Their small arms fire did nothing but chip the paint of the helicopters, and after taking so many losses they started to pull back, with the choppers pursuing them, and the Garmidian F22 en route.

"An ambush on a convoy in North-Western Adjikstan today killed up to 40 Red Army troops today, bringing the total count to 457. This is the 3rd such attack this month, as fighting continues in the mountains. In an unrelated incident an Mi-26 helicopter crashed landed, with minor injuries reported. The incident is being investigated, however it is believed to be the result of mechanical errors. We have some footage from our correspondent Aleksie Faustin, who has been in Adjikstan for the past few weeks."
footage of a firefight in the woods is shown, filmed by a reporter. The machine gunner is loading a new ammunition belt into PKP, while talking to the reporter inside of a shallow ditch.
"We've been in this forest for weeks, and we haven't made any large advances. The other day, we ambushed a medical truck that they were using, and blew up the survivors. Pay back for what they did to some captives a while back, you could say.."
The reporter then says "Would you call this campaign a failure?"
A different soldier, who had recently arrived was putting a bandage on his arm, as a result of a grenade blast that dusted him. His AKM was near by, with a rag tied around the foregrip due to the heat.

After the capture of a bunker, and subsequent torture of captured enemy PMC's revealed the location of their command base, situated across the border in another country. Not risking an international backlash, spetsnaz teams would go in and capture or kill all of the compounds occupants.
The operatives, 40 in all, we enroute via a pair of Ka-60 helicopters and another pair of Mi-24 gunships, flying low in ravines to avoid radar. They were using a mix of older equipment and new; RD-54 webbings, M1988 pattern uniforms, jackboots commonly issued to conscripts, along with 'Volfram' body armor, STSh-81 helmets and IR goggles. Armed with AKS-74 rifles, Saiga 12 shotguns and SVU-A sniper rifles, they were preparing to deploy right on the roof of the compound.
As they neared their target, they had now been detected by the PMC's radar. The Hinds deployed their cargo in a field nearby, and proceeded to cover the Kamovs. They fired missiles at the radar station before making a strafing run over the base' center area with rockets.
"Teams 1&2 are en route to the base, blow the gates and any suspected barracks"
"Assault teams are on the roof, proceeding to engage the enemy"
The first units that landed immediately moved towards the door, blasting a pair of PMC's with the Saiga. Upon arriving at the door, they threw an RGN grenade inside before going in, shooting over cover and advancing by pairs. They were quick to out maneuver their enemy's reinforcements, getting the jump on them in the offices a level below.
The other Assault Teams which had deployed at a different insertion point had taken out the communications room and had slaughtered a number of lightly armed guards who were moving to the armory to get their rifles
"squads 3&4, command center is on the 7th floor, try to move your wounded with you, over"
"copy, out"
The spetsnaz operative finished administering morphine to a wounded teammate, then helped relocate them to a room that they cleared. The the ones who were incapable of fighting were stripped of their ammunition, and the ones who could still shoot were given extra grenades in case they were overrun.
After shooting their way up a flight of stairs past some lowly security guards, the met up with the other units. As they stormed the command center, they weren't fighting regular PMC's or security, but instead well trained private soldiers to the CEO, who at the time of the raid had been visiting the training center for marketing purposes. Once the room had begun to fill with smoke, the CEO's special troops positions were compromised by their laser pointers, casuing a few casualties for them. The others quickly turned the devices off and continued to shoot it out. A poorly thrown RGN missed it's intended spot, rolling into a side office and exploding, killing the CEO, a soldier who was clearing a jam and a few staffers.
Some 20 minutes later the fighting stopped, and the surviving spetsnaz cleared the room. They recovered the CEO's brief case, which probably had something usable inside. Some data storage units that werent destroyed in the fighting were taken.
After gathering their dead and wounded they left the compound via the helicopters [1 of the Hinds had been hit with an AA gun and flew back, and was replaced with an Mi-8MT for extraction purposes.]. Command didn't seem to care about the possibly foreign CEO that was wasted in the raid, since there was little that could implicate them for his death.

As soon as the outposts were finished along the heights, some helicopters delivered some ZU-23 AA guns and a 2B9 Vasilek mortar. Attacks became less frequent as the main enemy formations were pushed further back.
The largest concentration of PMC's now rested in the city of Kazan, which normally had about 500,000 people in it. Despite most of the population having left, it was still risky to use massed artillery. In total, about 50,000 SRChP and ANA troops would fight for the city. The number of PMC's was estimated to be between 6 and 10 thousand, with at least a few armored vehicles. Before the assault would begin, they waited to hear confirmation from the AFOR troops if they were going to participate.
