Cairo-

Following a whirlwind campaign, Abd El-Aziz Ibn Muhammad, head of the New Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party, has attained the highest office in the Egyptian Arab Republic. The new President was sworn in at 9 AM this morning in Cairo in front of cheering crowds of his supporters. The relatively young leader of the relatively new party appealed to the popular imagination with his fiery rhetoric that called to mind the glory days of Gamal Nasr, with whom the handsome young politician has been frequently compared. Known for his stern criticism of the influence of foreign superpowers on small nations, particularly in the Arab world, and his call for a return to a devout, conservative society and socialist government, the new President Ibn Muhammad has ruffled feathers in the higher echelons of foreign governments, especially after his announced plan to nationalize several of his country’s natural resource industries.

The relatively untested politician holds the endorsement of several high ranking members of the Egyptian military as well as a slew of politicians and esteemed ministers. He will begin the process of organizing his government immediately.
