PARILISAN POLITICIAN IN PORNOGRAPHY CONTROVERSY
Member of Parliament Francesca Meller has decided to resign today following a controversy surrounding a pornographic video in which she featured. The footage was leaked onto the internet by an unknown source and since its release it has had somewhere over 1,000,000 hits internationally. Meller originally denied that the actress in the film was her, but she has now admitted to some involvement. She is suing the company who produced the video, PornoParilisa, on the grounds that she did not agree to the sharing of the content.
A prominent member of the SDLP, Meller was Minister for Media and the Arts and the highpoint of her career was her role in reducing the age at which a person can legally watch pornography from 18 to 16. President Klein has not yet commented on the events, but a fellow SDLP member, Jacob George, said he was “deeply embarrassed” by Meller’s actions.
An official statement on the SDLP website (www.sdlp.co.par) said:
“Whilst we are not opposed to pornography we can see why some people have found Meller’s role in this film offensive and shocking…Many people believe that this is not appropriate behaviour for a government official. Meller has voluntarily resigned her seat in Parliament and has made an official apology.”
The controversial court case between Meller and the porn company will begin next Wednesday.
