Imperator Nataša Anić looked nervously at the crowd gathered outside the government building in Skraelingia, Croatia (Province) in the Skraelingian Empire. She was nervous because history was watching. Not only had he Skraelingian Empire recently reformed (after disintegrating in ethnic strife), but she was its first female (and first non-royal) ruler. She glanced quickly at the aging gentleman at the side of the stage. He nodded slightly. She relaxed a little. She shuffled her notes, and straightened her blouse. A chilly breeze swept through the Illyrican square.

"Ladies and gentlemen, as you are well aware, over the last few decades greater Skrealingia has been ripped apart by fighting...no, not war, fratricide. Brothers have shed one another's blood. That is the only way to describe it.

As you are also aware, brave Marshal Stolar and myself have led brave men in an attempt to cease the senseless slaughter, and we have been largely successful. Though a few holdouts of those too intolerant to accept a multiethnic nation still exist, I believe at this time, we may have a new era of peace.

I am aware that many of you feared a military dictatorship. These fears are unfounded, and I am pleased to inform you all that I have been given the honorable task of leading this great people. I ask for your support over the coming months, as we attempt to reforge the once great empire of Skraelingia!" At this there was uproarious applause. She smiled, satisfied. She walked gracefully off the stage, onto a new future.

It is a pleasure to greet you on this wonderful day. I am pleased to hear that your nation is coming out from its darkest hours into the rightful ways of life once again! I would be interested to know where you will be taking your country from here on out, and would be interested in establishing diplomatic relations.

I invite you to setup an embassy in our Embassy Court (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=532313). This will help speed up the process of potential trades, an alliance, and more. So should this interest you, you are welcome to look into doing so!

In addition, we would be interested in importing some Illyrian sheepdog, or Sarplaninac's. They were once a favorite in ViZion, however in recent decades their numbers have dropped off almost completely within our borders.

Thank you for the warm welcome to the international community and the offer of the creation of an embassy in your nation.

As for where we plan on going: our first task is to rebuild the nation after years of internal warfare. Thankfully, the campaigns of our Nationalist forces were the last ones to take place so far, but there is much rubble to be cleared, many roads to built, jobs to be created.

We also intend to form a military for the purpose of the defense of our nation, and, if it should become a part of our foreign policy in the future, as a tool of intervention in international efforts to prevent what has befallen our nation in recent years from repeating itself.

Finally, though our current system is oligarchic in nature, I, though many of the nobles do not know this and would likely have me killed if they knew, that I intend to dismantle the oligarchy and install a proper centrist republic to give the many peoples that comprise our people a peaceful forum for discussion and problem solving, so that internal strife does not become a permanent fixture of Skraelingia.

As for the Illyrian mastiffs...I believe that would be something to take up with the economic minister, but I'm sure some type of agreement could be reached.

For the first time in awhile, the Premier laughed. Literally, laughed. The Kremlin that day was full of laughs, because when the Premier had read the message, he couldn't believe someone had the balls to talk back to a nation such as Theoroshia.

A crate of the finest Theoroshian vodka was sent to Nataša Anić, with a small envelope on it, saying, "A capitalist with balls? Ye deserve the vodka. - EB".

As Nataša continued with the work of rebuilding the state, she looked blearily at the packaged from Theoroshia that had been sent through from the screening office (chemical and bombs in the mail were, in the recently reconstituted empire, not uncommon). She looked at the bottle of vodka, and the note attached. She laughed for a few minutes as she hadn't laughed in days. She took another bleary look at the vodka. It was 3 in the morning. She tucked it into a drawer in her office drawer. "I'll probably be needing that sometime," she muttered. She quickly penned a note back to Brant.

While your offer to allow me to visit your nation is lovely, I'm afraid (at this point in time) it simply wouldn't be possible: there is much to do in rebuilding a war-torn nation, after all. However, once things are on track, I would be happy to take you up on your offer.

As for trade, indeed, investment and greatly reduced tariffs (I'm afraid tariff-free isn't an option for anyone at this point...we're still attempting to stimulate our own businesses) would be greatly beneficial for both countries, and I would be happy to discuss such a proposition with you or your ministers.
