Exodus Fleet, Time Unknown

For a long time, Coredia flew through the stars, using two city-stations (http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/xenosaga/images/4/49/Kukai_foundation.jpg) as their mobile capital. But the resources of the Exodus Fleet, even with the Big Momma Fabrication Ship (http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/thumb/b/b5/WD_NEGWT.jpg/250px-WD_NEGWT.jpg) was starting to reach the limit. Already, there were three mutinies that had to be put down.

"You know...Vector's doing its best, but we're beginning to reach the limit of our resources as a nation." Director Rina Masaki said to her cousin, the Emperor. "The Rakka and Rekki stations' food, water, air and ship production facilities are stretched as far as we could, even with the recycling programs. People are still having babies, and you and I both know we need the population boom, but every new mouth to feed is a little less to ration among the whole. My calculations indicate that our ability to maintain a minimum standard of living is diminishing and will vanish within a decade. Once that happens, the Coredian Nomadic Empire will fall apart quicker than you can say 'revolution'."

"What do you propose then, Cousin?" Emperor Masaki asked. "Another planet? You realize any planet is all too easily taken or destroyed by our enemies."

"I know, I know...what we need is a mobile...planet, in effect. Like the stations, but...well, something for our entire people. Nothing less than the best materials, the strongest defenses. One that's capable of continual change and expansion as needed. Done right, we'll never need a planet again."

"Like the Abh capital?" Emperor Masaki asked.

Rina nodded. "Yeah, exactly. Only better."

"So what do you propose?"

"Hmm...how about a design contest? The best designers will be contracted as the Master Constructioner of the project."

"Risky. We'll have to ensure tight security. Tighter than ever before. Daniel was always a bit lacking in that department." Emperor Jacob Masaki smiled sadly. "Idealistic to the end. Well...it's your show, Rina."

Rina grinned. "I won't let you down, Jacob!"

Description:
This is perhaps one of the most unique starships ever designed by the Huntarian Alliance/Republic. For the first time in millennia, Huntarian ship designers have been called upon to create a city sized space craft which can hold literally millions of people. With the destruction of the Coredian sanctuary on Issus, the Alliance felt it was only properly suited to call the first of many Modular City Ships to be named after Issus. The Issus class itself is remarkable in it’s design as it is immense. Unlike other City Ships designed in the past, which had seemingly endless fields of grass, surrounded by a domed shape, this ship is designed more to be like a gigantic city hotel, which even the poorest of persons can live in relative luxury.

Due to the ship's design of being Modular, this would enable the main body to change and grow, and to switch out old parts with new at ease. There are two basic parts of the Issus MCS: The Front and the Rear. The rear is composed of mostly civilian living space, including a 40km by 15km Agriculture dome. The lower section of this part is designed to hold between 2-6 regular Coredian city stations, which are also modified to be able to attach even more stations. The front part is the military section, which is where most of the ship's defenses and offenses are located at. For defensive purposes, following a design similar to the Alliance's Saucer Separation sequence for their smaller cruisers, the front part of the ship can split off from the rear when called into battle to keep the civilian population out of harms way. Even whilst in the middle of battle, the Civilian section would have several FTL's of it's own, enabling it to jump away instantly in the middle of a battle. While it is possible to separate the two sections in the middle of FTL, in theory, it is highly ill advised to actually separate the two sections unless the need is absolutely dire.

Living Conditions

Rooms:
With 520 inhabitable decks on the ship, 200+ of them are used solely for living quarters, size of rooms vary depending on what section of the ship you are in. Each room is equipped with a Replicator Station, which you can virtually replicate any object you see fit from food such as giant steak dinners, to clothing, components, weapons (civilian versions of course), and anything else which the user has purchased. All they’d have to do is program the product into the replicator and then they’ll never have to physically go out and buy the product again. Of course, every time you create that same product again, it is deducted from the inhabitant’s banking account, which would be attached to the Replicator for commercial purposes. Inhabitants may purchase the version which they can replicate as much as possible, but it comes at a very hefty fee, along with obligations of community service. The standard sized room has 4 living areas, 2 bedrooms, a kitchen/living room and one extra guest room which can be converted to a personal theater, or a holoroom.

Technology
M.L.S.S. Mk I:
Layer 3 - The outermost layer manipulates graviton polarity in a way not typical to shields, creating a graviton flux disruption that prevents many know designs of threat tractor beams from locking on to the vessel. This layer also incorporates transport inhibitor technology, helping prevent an enemy from transporting aboard.

Layer 2 - The middle layer incorporates automatic rotation of frequency and modulation with meta-phasics, which absorbs enemy fire, spreads it out along the shield. This shield sends data on what type of weapon is used and what frequency and phase the weapon uses. Once this is analyzed, the shield can be configured to have the same frequency as the incoming weapon, but different modulation, which dramatically increases shield efficiency.

Layer 1 - The innermost shield layer is a multi-phaseic shield. Based on standard regenerative shielding, this is the ship's last line of defense. The key to this layer is it's ability to 'wave' while in a state of temporal flux. This technology was developed in part by the crew of USS Voyager and the Mannheim Research Station. Instead of a standard oval bubble, this layer 'ripples' or waves (like the surface of water) while in a state of temporal flux. This dramatically increases protection against weapons such as the Hellfire, Chronaton, and Transphisic Torpedoes while at the same time helping protect the ship from temporal anomalies.

Shield Regenerators:

The regenerators requires considerable amounts of power themselves. Power can either be fed through the auxiliary power networks, or by temporarily diverting some shield power to the regenerators. Near instantaneous regeneration would be too energy expensive for the ship and would burn out the filters immediately. Ironically, if the shields have degraded to below 40% integrity, then the filters requires far less power to restore the shields than if they were at 70% because the disrupted shields are “easier to find.” Yet below 25%, the shield damage is irreversible without deactivating and reformatting them.

Hyper-X Capacitors:
Special energy capacitors were designed that could store an impressive amount of energy in a very small space. These capacitors would make incredible batteries, especially for their small size and large energy capacity, and that is an area that the Alliance Military Defense Development is exploring, but it is outside of the scope of this system. The primary purpose of the capacitors is to provide additional energy for a weapon so that it can fire twice as quickly for a single fire. For example, a laser cannon that could normally fire three times per second is equipped with this system and can now fire six times for a single second. After the capacitors are discharged once, they need to be recharged. To recharge them, the weapon that they are attached to must not fire for 5 seconds. Unfortunately, each weapon must be equipped with its own capacitor, and the larger the weapon, the larger and more expensive the capacitor. Also, for obvious reasons, only energy weapons can be equipped with these capacitors.

Bioneural Circuitry
Bio-neural circuitry is a technology incorporated in bio-neural gel packs. It was first incorporated into the Coredian Issus Class City ship around the year 103 ABY. Much of the usual isolinear circuitry was replaced with bio-neural cells, which can process information more efficiently, and hence speed up computer response time. Issus class was the first vessel equipped with bio-neural systems as an experiment to see if it would actually work, rather than risking destroying one of their own vessels in the process. As it is, the Cordians had more materials available than they did.

Bio-neural technology can be affected by viruses and other infectious agents, which compromise healthy tissue of living organisms. If the bio-neural gel packs aboard the City ship get infected, it is suggested to induce a fever-like situation to fight the infection, similar to when a Human sometimes has a fever in response to infection and illness. One of the most common ways to fight infections is to simply superheat the ship, which is relatively harmless to the inhabitants (a simple dip in the local agriculture dome or activate one of the many holodeck water programs would suffice).

Alliance Jump Drives
The Alliance simply modified a combination of Coredian Jump Drives and the Alliance's Necrominus Drives, which are Force Sensitive in nature. Alliance Jump Drives use the Force as a method of virtually never ending source of energy, much like how the Star Forge is operated. However, a Force user must be in charge of this engine, for obvious reasons. It cannot work without one.

Hyper-X Replicator Torpedo Launchers
This is essentially an attempt to continue with the idea of using replicators as a way to produce conventional weaponry in mass amounts in the middle of a battle, thus eliminating the need to carry needless amounts of actual torpedoes or missiles. Traditionally a torpedo launcher by itself couldn't be equipped with the Hyper X capacitors, as it is a non-energy weapon. However, Alliance Scientists have figured that the simplest solution to get around this problem would be to equip Replicators and use those as a means of producing conventional weapons, including kinetic weapons such as Rail Guns. Attaching the modified replicator to the weapon is a fairly simple process, forever eliminating the problem of running out of ammo... Up until the power core runs out of energy that is or is heavily damaged. It is recommended that a small emergency supply of non-replicated ammunition be stored on the ship in case of such an event.

XL Phaser Arrays:
This newly developed Phaser Array is a rather unique design to the Alliance as it is something which the galaxy hasn't seen yet. Unlike the previous phaser arrays created by the Alliance and it's former Grand Republic self, this new phaser array's fire capability is surprisingly powerful. The Alliance has seen the useful practicality of it's former Type XII Phaser Arrays which had the capability of producing multiple shots at a maximum of ten beams at ten different targets with the fire power equivalent to a medium turbolaser. Recently, the Alliance Military Defense Development has purchased the DPR from their Coredian ally's capital ship grade Composite-beam laser cannons, which have the literal capability of tearing a ship in half. The Alliance will be implementing this newly purchased technology into their new phaser array design which should prove to be very devastating making this new Phaser Array as powerful as multiple Advanced Heavy Turbolaser Batteries implemented by the Huntarian Empire and then some. Another new technology the AMDD has researched is the Hyper-X Capacitors. The AMDD saw the literal practical use for this newly developed piece of technology and has attached the capacitors into the new Type XL Phaser Arrays. This means that the XL Phaser Arrays now have the ability to fire nearly 20 individual beams at 20 different ships at any given time. The combination of these two new technologies should prove to be a very devastating weapon to the Alliance's Enemies.

Regenerative Shield Generators (RSG)

During combat situations and other hazards, starships protect themselves with the use of the standard plasma shields. Unfortunately the generator which produces these shields cannot last forever and can be damaged, or destroyed themselves. Huntarian Shield Generators use graviton polarity source generators whose output is phase-synchronizes through a series of subspace field distortion amplifiers. When the shields sustains some form of critical impact, whether it is energy or matter based, the synchronization of the polarized phased gravitons are disrupted which affects the properties and effectiveness of the shields. Shield percentage is based upon the “structural” integrity of the shields. These disruptions cannot be repaired while the shields are online, not even by retuning and alternating the shield frequencies. Until now.

Traditional Restoration:
Typical methods of shield restoration would've been to change it's matrix. This process can take anywhere from thirty seconds, to multiple hours depending on the damage and disruption to the shields and their generators. This time frame can leave a ship vulnerable to an enemy attack.

Another method would be to derive power from other support sytems such as from the FTL drives, civilian systems (ect) which effectively "strengthening" the shields. However, if a shield is down to 73% power, it will need to divert 33% power from other sorces.

Shield regenerators are units that restores the shield matrix while the shields are still operable. Deflector shields rotates and retunes frequencies at certain intervals, every 500 million cycles, or operating at a frequency of 250 megahertz (MHz) every two seconds. By using these frequency “windows”, which are also used by the ships active sensors, the shield regenerators filters out about 5% the out-of-sync shield frequencies and are de-compiled. Therefore the energy that sustains the disrupted shields is no longer required and is reused into generating new shields. With 5% filtration, it would take about a minute to restore 80% of the damaged shields while operating at 250 megahertz.

Ion Arrays
It is basically a reconfiguration of the XL Phaser Arrays, the only difference is that it is configured to merely knock out enemy systems rather than damage or destroy them. However, it has a general wide effect on the ship rather than the individual targets themselves, much like the Ion Turbolasers. It is suggested to use these in general ship to ship combat rather than raids.

Lightning Arrays
Modified Ion Arrays to directly assault specific targets on an enemy ship rather than the ship as a whole.

The Ringship, A Taste of What a Mobile Planet Could Be

A possible design for a Ringship (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/40/Ringworld.jpg)

The Ringship is a flexible design, capable of being tooled to the desires of its builders. Because of the many possibilities that one could engineer into this ship, Serigate Plasma has chosen to provide a brief explanation of what a Ringship is, what it’s advantages are over a traditional vessel, as well as some suggestions of how to configure the vessel for optimal defense, ship construction and repair, as well as travel.

A Ringship is a ship in the shape of a ring. This ring rotates, causing centrifugal force which simulates a cheap source of artificial gravity for the civilians who live onboard. The ring thus generates a powerful electromagnetic field that scoops up interstellar hydrogen, pulling and accelerating it to the center of the ring where the hydrogen is then forced to undergo fusion, a process known as the Bussard Ramjet. While somewhat… primitive, compared to modern day drive systems, it’s fairly energy cheap, provides a lot of power that can move the ringship (if slowly), and becomes a miniature, artificial sun!

In the terms of habitation, the inner side of the ringship is composed of open terrain and a natural atmosphere. The atmosphere is kept inside the ring by two kilometer high walls on either side of the Ringship, with the spin keeping the atmosphere inside (however, optional force fields could be included to ensure total atmosphere conservation). This provides an experience that is indistinguishable from a natural planet, seemingly real gravity, natural weather and terrain, as well as an artificial sun that provides a summer sun’s basking capabilities (as well as natural tanning). While a useful, relaxing experience for a race used to living in giant starships, the natural environment of the Ringship would provide another advantage to the Semi-Nomadic Coredian Empire - that of the Force. Unlike ships which have an artificial environment, the fact that a Ringship sports a full biosphere, the Force naturally flows through the inner side of the ring. An important aspect for any novice Jedi, allowing them to train easier, as well as allowing Coredian Jedi to develop a stronger connection to the Force than they might living on ships all their lives.

On the other side of the Ringship though, we have the artificial machines that keep the beast moving. Under the two-kilometer high walls that keep the atmosphere in and the few dozen meters of dirt and rock, there exists the base of the ring - a two kilometer thick structure. This base-ring would hold such thing as power generators for the cities in the Ringship’s inner side, as well as contain any other facilities that need to be well protected. However, it is suggested that buildings such as government structures, Jedi temples, or other things be built on the ‘surface’ so that they can bask in the sunlight and natural splendor. Finally, outside/on top of the base ring, we have an extra kilometer of interspaced triangles that not only provide extra armor, but also allow the flexible, modular design that is required.

Around the ring are, depending on the size of the Ringship desired, 4020 equilateral triangles (http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c98/kentrien/TriangleArrayDisk2.jpg?t=1239322285) that can be designed to fit any function the Coredian’s desire. Serigate Plasma, however, recommends that some of these triangles be reserved for the powerful FTL drives which would be needed to move such a vast structure, space docks that allow for the construction or repair of ships (considering that each triangle has a 12.5 square kilometers of space, it’s possible to construct capital ships in such giant space docks composed of four or more connected triangles), and others dedicated to creating powerful shields to protect the Ringship from danger, as well as general triangle formations that contain weapon systems to fight off any fleet bold enough to attack such a structure. Our recommendations are;
40 FTL Drive Triangles, spaced evenly around the disk,
120 Shield Triangles, creating a powerful grid system of shields,
480 Space Dock Triangles, allowing for the repair and construction of entire fleets if need be,
Thus leaving 3380 triangles for any other purpose the Coredians desire (However, of small note that the triangles on the outer edge of the ring would need some space dedicated to maneuvering thrusters to keep the ring spinning for it’s gravity, as well as to tilt or move for sublight travel). Our suggestion for these remaining triangles are the General Defense Triangle, which composes of One Anti-Capital Ship Weapon (of your choice), 3 Anti-Cruiser Weapons, 9 Anti-Frigate Weapons, 91 Point Defense Canons, 3 Large Power Reactors (making the Triangle self sustaining), as well as 9 Shield Generators, as well as whatever missile/torpedo bays you desire to fit in.

Using our recommendations, this would then give the Ringship a total of: 3380 Anti-Capital Ship Weapons, 20140 Anti-Cruiser Weapons, 30420 Anti-Frigate Weapons, 307,580 Point Defense Guns, and finally a second layer of shielding from the powerful Shield Triangles! Such firepower, combined with the powerful shields, FTLi, or other systems that the buyer wishes to add, makes the Ringship a fleet by itself (not to mention it’s capacity to create or repair an ACTUAL fleet via it’s many space docks). And if that much firepower isn’t enough, a skilled commander can utilize the plasma torch created from the protostar/fusion core from the Bussard Ramjet as a gigantic beam weapon capable of massive destruction of an on told scale, true to the Kzinti Lesson!

Ultimately though, the capabilities, power, defense, all hinge on what our buyers wish to add or modify to the design. Serigate Plasma is willing to assist in construction and add-in civilian technology, however it is suggested that to create a sense of ownership, belonging, and familiarity that the Coredian’s create the vessel with their very own technology.

On another note, while the vessel described fits the ‘bar minimum’ the advertisement provided, our technicians couldn’t help but design a ‘world ship’ model, with a diameter and circumference around that of the equator of an M-Class Planet. Interestingly, further simulations with such large scale Ringships showed that the sustainable population of a Ringship increases exponentially with diameter, so much so that the Worldringship could support 14 BILLION people comfortably.

Diameter: 800km (12,732km)
Height: 20km (320km)
Width: 5km (5-7km)
Surface Area: 50,265km^2 (12.8 million square kilometers)
Sustainable Population on Innerside/Surface: 50.3 Million (12.8 Billion), more populace/crew can be housed in the Main-Ring as well as the various modular Triangles.
Number of Triangles: 4020 (2,024,000)

Food/Water Storage: N/A, the Ringship has more than enough space for farms (especially advanced hydroponics), and the natural environment recycles wastes and materials such as any biosphere would.

A standard Gun Orb Mk II (http://atddm.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=3246#32460) is 40 miles in diameter, composed of nested shells.

Please follow the link and peruse the second post for the description and details of the concept of nested shells. The first post detals armaments etc.

I can't give an exact number to the population it could hold in comfort, beacuse that really is dependant on a vast variety of factors. However as some 'low tech' archologies (http://www.tdrinc.com/ultima.html) are designed to hold a million residents in relative luxury, and as many of those as necessary could be built within the nested shells.

It must also have the power to defeat standard FTLi.

Grins evilly - see the note at the bottom of the first post.

The gun orbs and the nested shells concept was first put forth in my national fact book back in Jan of 2008 and thus is not something new but has been merely design updated.

Rinsing
10-04-2009, 18:53
((OOC: Note that this is being posted for the nation Varyd Dolzin. I'm using Rinsing because the VD forum account is broken.))

“So, who are we waiting for?” asked Tirazel Mezinthras.

The words could easily have sounded impatient, but in this case she was simply inquiring. Marak Theel, who was seated next to the dark skinned, black haired commander of Varyd Dolzin’s military, answered quickly.

“Just Spook. The Boss is off at that new base he’s been working on, and Athir’s helping the Shoolshif with some negotiations. They’ll be- ah, Spook!”

As a towering figure in a hooded black robe swept into the room, Marak tapped briefly at his computer’s controls. Moments later, images of the two absent members of the Varydi leadership appeared at their chairs.

“Now that we’re all here, what’ve you got for us?”

The spymaster’s eyes gleamed in the shadowy depths of the hood as a metal hand placed a copy of the Coredian poster on the central table.

“An interesting opportunity. Coredia wants a capital that won’t be captured or destroyed – that can escape, if facing an attack they cannot beat. In essence, a fortified city-ship. When I saw this, I thought of our own stations. We assemble them from our standard warships, but a collection of specialized vessels might meet the needs of the Coredians nicely.

“Now, we’ve never viewed the Coredian Empire as a likely enemy, despite the ‘Empire’ title, so I don’t have much of a file on them. But from what I know, we should have no need to oppose them. Helping them could prove worthwhile.”

“I like it.” said Athir Kless, head of Public Relations. She closed her three eyes briefly for emphasis, and continued. “It could be a start to friendly contact with the Coredians, and we can always use a few more friends. If we won this contest, it could also prove a valuable example of the quality of our work. That might make potential enemies think twice about tangling with us. Can we manage it?”

Zith kor t’kaszo tilted its triangular head to one side, gazing at the poster.

“Mobility – not a problem. I have a few ideas for the inhibitor issue. Population – just include enough vessels. Terrain is quite doable, though building a decent sea will be a major project. Weather – easy. Adaptability’s built into the concept – just add more ships to make it larger. Get enough resources, and we put together defenses that will make a Death Star into pretty fireworks. Otherwise, we can give one a tough fight. I’ll need to work out the details, but I think we can design something that will do what they want.”

“Most of our areas of interest are fairly quiet right now, so I shouldn’t have trouble gathering any forces we need for security.” Tir glanced over at Marak. “Can we spare the construction equipment?”

The Director closed his eyes for a moment, reviewing the available resources, and then nodded.

“I think so, yes. I’ll need the final design to be sure, and we’d probably have to delay the Nazothi project, but we should be able to do it. We can build a few more Assemblers during construction to speed things up. What do you think, boss?”

“Work out the details. If it seems practical, go ahead and submit a proposal.”

Project: TS Interlock
We suggest the use of a compound vessel for your mobile capital, composed of a number of specialized smaller ships. These components could be assembled in various configurations to adapt the vessel for different situations. You could, for example, place the primary drive components in a parallel arrangement to maximize forward acceleration, or scatter them about the outer layer of the structure for improved maneuverability.

As we work out our proposed design, my team has a few questions for you. Would you like to use weapons, shield, sensors, etc. of your own production, or should our plans be based purely upon our own technology, or a combination? Are there any unusual living requirements we need to take into account? Would you like the components to be larger on the inside than the outside?

Included with this message is a sample of a preliminary component plan. We will be sending updated files as we complete and refine the design. Of course, we will be happy to address any question you might have.

Thank you for your consideration,
- Zith kor t’kaszo, Head of Research and Development, Varyd Dolzin

Combat Components

Programmable Core

The core components will have specialized projectors built into the exterior of their hulls, which will allow them to collectively create large, temporary devices from complex energy fields. They will be able to generate any object that the structure's primary computer possesses appropriate designs for. With the available space and the power that can be applied to them, these devices can greatly exceed the abilities of shipboard equipment. Only one of these large items can be active at a time, but most can be powered in under a minute and turned off within a few seconds, so switching from one to another is a rapid process.

When the Core is inactive for an extended period, this space can be used as a construction yard.

Original Core Settings

Auxiliary Computer
Useful for linguistic challenges, tracking large numbers of objects, and anything else which benefits from exceptional processing power.

Shield Generator
Far tougher than any but the most powerful of planetary shields.

Iandoeth Teleporter
This device will be able to transport the entire structure easily, and should get through most FTL inhibitors with minimal delay.

Teleport Disruptor
Capable of protecting the structure, and a considerable area around it, from most forms of teleportation.

Rhunate Tradeship
Export Model (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v652/blaesa/PRA%20junk/Tradeship.jpg)

Diameter (Primary Unit): ~72,000 kilometers
Diameter (Satellite Units): ~8000 kilometers
Power Supply: Gigaliter Conversion Plant
Propulsion (STL): 1 Conversion Torch Drive
Propulsion (FTL): Core-mounted Rhunate Wormhole Projector

Defenses: Redundant planetary-scale shielding, atmosphere
Armament: Lased conversion torch, capacity for aftermarket installation of planetary-scale defense systems

Population (Per Satellite Unit): 5,000,000,000
Population (Primary Unit): 12,000,000,000,000

Inspired by Rhunate Tradeships, the Otagian method of housing a massive population on a mobile platform is, while perhaps the simplest, one of the boldest techniques. Capable of easily housing fifteen billion in its satellite facilities, a Tradeship is simply a Jovian-scale gas giant with a single hyperscale pillar sunk almost to its diamond core.

Enormous intake vents surround the center of the pillar, pulling in huge amounts of matter to fuel its conversion plants. In turn, these fuel a pair of monstrous rockets, mounted on each end of the pillar. While one such jet of nuclear fire prevents the pillar from plunging into the diamond core of the gas giant, the other blasts into the sky, providing thrust. Smaller rockets scattered around the equator of the pillar allow it to move through the sky of the giant, allowing precision steering. Guidance is, of course, provided via onboard digital sentience, due to the inherent complexities of piloting a rather slow moving vehicle with enough gravity to destroy civilizations simply by moving through inhabited systems.

FTL is provided by a Rhunate wormhole projector, built into a hardened structure built into the planet's diamond core. This device is powered by its own conversion reactor, and features heavy shielding and gravitics to protect itself not only from external attack, but the massive pressures present at that depth. The structure is completely automated, controlled by the vessel's digital sentience.

The intended location for most of the Tradeship's population is aboard its satellites, which orbit the equator of the vessel. Lit by the artificial sun of the conversion rocket, these moons are fully capable of sustaining their own ecosystem. Each satellite is large enough to house three billion safely, and mount significant defenses on their poles. A typical Tradeship features five moons, although specimens with more or less satellites exist. With sufficient effort, additional inhabitants can be supported in the habitable pressure band of the gas giant itself, up to an estimated 12 trillion.

Tradeships are extremely heavily defended, with numerous entrenched facilities both on its moons and floating through the giant's atmosphere, and both moons and giant feature their own individual planetary-scale shield projectors. In addition, the conversion torch can be focused to act as a massive DEW, potent enough to shatter planets with ease.

Subject: Space Gypsy Capital

Since it is unusual for gypsies to have a capital in the traditional sense, it strikes me as appropriate for your people to follow more traditional means of transportation, specifically, a space-going variant of the horse-drawn wagon that has supported gypsies throughout the millenia.

My proposal is thus as follows:

Space Wagon in Space

Designation Space Wagon
Manufacturer Whoever takes up the licence
Dimensions Circa 40 m x 8 m x 4 m
Mass Circa 128 t
Cost [Enter sensible number here]

A frontal harness to fit dual STL/ FTL propulsion, as well as slots to fit your desired set of sensory equipment and maybe some token guns/ shielding are of course available. Since national differences in this regard tend to be quite wide, I feel it is better to leave this up to you. Logistics alone would be a pain if not.

Exit/ entry points are at the back and front; space is too tight to fit airlocks, though, so you better know there's an atmosphere on the other side when opening it. On the bright side, this simplifies maintenance and makes the wagon both, cheap and fast to produce.

With an estimated population of eight/ wagon, it is of course obvious that the number of space wagons will have to be in the billions - needness to say, this extremely high level of redundancy basically ensures your continued survival, unlike a fixed, one-lucky-shot-and-its-dead capital.

I hope to hear from you again.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth

This is my submission. The planet Earth is roughly 6,358km in circumference and travels at around 30,000 km/s. It is protected by a series of force fields, collectively known as the "atmosphere." It comes pre-stocked with numerous resources and many distinct and unique species of wild life, which are all ripe for exploitation.

If you like my proposal, please telegram me. I will sell it to you for fifty standard Universal dollars.

Oh, and let's not forget how succeptable the planet is to orbital bombardment, as demonstrated by a natural event at around 65 million years ago.

Yeah, but it's the problem of actually getting those planets into a rosette in the first place, not to mention getting them to move. IIRC, the Puppeteer rosette was just chucked in the opposite direction as the supernova cascade at a fast enough pace that by the time the galaxy blew up it would simply be too far away to matter.

That, and I was thinking about a gas giant rosette anyway. ;)

"Hmm. Not a bad design, but it won't handle even meteorites with only steel and titanium." Jacob Masaki, the Alchemy Master, shook his head.

"No shields, armament that would make a Super Star Destroyer laugh aside from the giant ion weapon, and no sign of any ability to fight off FTLi attempts aside from fighters." General Roy Mustang grumbled. "Does this designer think we'll ever hire him? If this is his best, I think not!"

"Well, the design itself is sound. It's modular enough for our purposes and I recommend we keep and upgrade it to Alliance standards whenever we need a secondary city ship. But I agree, this isn't a winner."

"Very well. This design will not be considered in the final run but will be made available for future consideration." Jacob Masaki nodded and stamped "BARELY ACCEPTABLE - FAIL!" on the design.

Design Contest Note: The design is good, but the execution falls short of expected parameters. If there weren't menacing Super Star Destroyer-type platforms running around, we'd consider this a good choice. As it is, this is a runner-up for effort alone.

The gun orbs and the nested shells concept was first put forth in my national fact book back in Jan of 2008 and thus is not something new but has been merely design updated.
Rina whistled. "Now this is a design worthy of my support! I'd like to get a look at those weapons and armor!"

"I agree. This would make anyone think twice about attacking it. And plus, it's one heck of a worldship. We could keep building layers for additional space." General Mustang nodded.

"I, for one, would like to analyze the materials of this armor for further review." Jacob grinned. "In the meantime, Huntaer's gonna have some competition..."

He stamped it with "EXCELLENT!"

Design Contest Note: A very good modular design and one that may be considered for construction. We may not build this immediately, though.

OOC: Work in progress!

Agriculture Dome:

Military Facilities

Force Training

Technology

Alliance Jump Drives

Hyper-X Replicator Torpedo Launchers

"It's the Huntarian Alliance. It's got everything we'll ever need and then some." Rina grinned. "They don't lack for quality."

"Agreed. I would say it's a clear winner, except we still have to finish the contest." Roy smiled.

"It would be hard for anyone to beat the Huntarians." Jacob agreed and stamped this one "EXCELLENT!"

Design Contest Note: Expected nothing less than the best from you, Huntaer and we got it. Looks like you're gonna be the winner!

Around the ring are, depending on the size of the Ringship desired, 4020 equilateral triangles (http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c98/kentrien/TriangleArrayDisk2.jpg?t=1239322285) that can be designed to fit any function the Coredian’s desire. Serigate Plasma, however, recommends that some of these triangles be reserved for the powerful FTL drives which would be needed to move such a vast structure, space docks that allow for the construction or repair of ships (considering that each triangle has a 12.5 square kilometers of space, it’s possible to construct capital ships in such giant space docks composed of four or more connected triangles), and others dedicated to creating powerful shields to protect the Ringship from danger, as well as general triangle formations that contain weapon systems to fight off any fleet bold enough to attack such a structure. Our recommendations are;
40 FTL Drive Triangles, spaced evenly around the disk,
120 Shield Triangles, creating a powerful grid system of shields,
480 Space Dock Triangles, allowing for the repair and construction of entire fleets if need be,
Thus leaving 3380 triangles for any other purpose the Coredians desire (However, of small note that the triangles on the outer edge of the ring would need some space dedicated to maneuvering thrusters to keep the ring spinning for it’s gravity, as well as to tilt or move for sublight travel).

"A good design, this one, but a bit big for our tastes." Roy said.

"Yeah. But it'd be excellent as a terraforming station. Or if we ever decide to show off our engineering skills." Rina said. "But yeah, I agree it's a bit big for our current purposes."

"We'll save this design for later consideration, then." Jacob nodded. He then stamped this design with "GOOD - FAIL FOR BEING TOO BIG!"

Design Contest Note: A good design, but this isn't exactly what we're looking for. However, it could work well in conjunction with Tanara's design, so we'll consider this for a later project.

"Lacks a good picture, but there's enough detail so I have a good idea of what this city-ship may look like." Rina said. "It's light on actual details though."

"Agreed. The design is sound and the multiple interconnecting module idea is quite novel. I think we should use that. Each module could be named after one of our planets for nostalga purposes." General Mustang said.

Jacob nodded. "It seems we have a good potential for second or third place here, then."

He then stamped this with "VERY GOOD! NEEDS PICTURE!"

The three judges sweatdropped.

"No." Rina said.

"Just no." General Mustang said.

"Hell no!" Jacob agreed. He stamped "FAIL!" on the design.

Design Contest Note: Of course, like all the designs, it'll never be thrown away. Perhaps one day, if Coredia started a planetary construction and terraforming business, this design could be brought back into action. But until then, it'll never again see the light of day.

It took five minutes for the judges to stop laughing.

"I think not!" Rina laughed.

"Do they think we're actual Space Gypsies?" Roy laughed. "We're Semi-Nomadic, not Entirely Nomadic!"

"Agreed. This is fail." Jacob grinned and stamp this 'design' with "FAIL!"

Design Contest Note: Space Wagon...fail. The concept of every family having a spaceship though...not fail. But yeah, this particular design is fail.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earth

This is my submission. The planet Earth is roughly 6,358km in circumference and travels at around 30,000 km/s. It is protected by a series of force fields, collectively known as the "atmosphere." It comes pre-stocked with numerous resources and many distinct and unique species of wild life, which are all ripe for exploitation.

If you like my proposal, please telegram me. I will sell it to you for fifty standard Universal dollars.
The three judges sweatdropped again.

"Fail." Rina said.

"Absolutely." Roy nodded.

"Agreed." Jacob said.

He put the final stamp on the design: "FAIL! FAIL! FAIL!"

Design Contest Note: By the way, the Andromeda and Pegasus Galaxies are for sale for only 45 Universal Standard Dollars in total.
