Typhoon Akiko

LIVE COVERAGE

Music cued up and the lights reveal the news anchors.

"Welcome, I'm Yuriko Yoshida for MNBC. We want to return to our live coverage now of typhoon Akiko, the first major storm of the season is now making it's way to Motokata as we speak. Winds are now clocking in at 117 knots and could still potentially climb before it begins moving over land. Going to our live coverage right in the heart of the city, is Koji Katsuma."

Over the wind he has to shout:

"Thanks, wind speeds are steadily increasing, as you can see the rain is now coming in sheets, we already are seeing a major rain band moving through the city and most of the country. Keep in mind this is again the first storm of the season for Motokata but already it's likely to be the first severe storm to strike. Flood and storm surge is expected up to 10 feet along the coast and 5 feet inland. Already I can feel it swelling up to my ankles, we'll keep you posted as the storm moves further, back to you Yuriko."

"Thanks Koji, stay safe out there. Let's go to sky tracker as you can see the outer bands of the storm are already approaching the coast, the eye wall looking pretty heavy as we get closer to the eye there. Likely were going to see some hefty damage. CyberLink3's student exchange program is ongoing, thus many foreign students are likely to be caught in this. With me is Akito Souma, he's been covering the student program since it began. Akito."

"Thanks, well these students are likely in safe hands all being placed with Motokatan families, and Motokatans are no strangers to this kind of weather. Still as precaution CL3 is now phoning all families to inform them of the situation."

"What are the plans in the aftermath?"

"Well a list of all participants is being gathered, every shelter has one, all students will need to sign in as soon as they arrive in a shelter. Then all the parents will be given the status of their child."

"Let's talk worse case scenario, some students get killed."

"Well we hope it never comes to that, but all students signed a waiver before arriving, now if this does happen, the Government has a Monetary fund to cover funeral costs any other medical expenses that may arise in the near future, but we do hope no one in this program is killed, as long as they stick with their host and follow all the safety precautions, they should be fine."

"Thanks, Akito. Once again you are looking at live coverage of Typhoon Akiko a class Very Sever Cyclonic Storm is bearing down on Motokata. There is the possibility if it being upstaged to Super Typhoon Storm, if winds begin to exceed 120 knots or 140 mph; 220 km/h it will be a Super Typhoon Storm. This just in radar is showing a Cyclonic Touch Down, now that is a tornado in Motokata, a touch down has been reported in Sayu County, that's about 35 miles south of us, all residents in that area, please take cover right away, this is a fast and dangerous storm. Please stay tuned for more updates, we will continue running the Weather Marque at the bottom of your screen."

The lights fade and the music plays.
