Mortars fired at Imperial Palace: 9 dead, 20 wounded

Earlier today a mortar attack occured as militants fired at the Imperial Palace for 30 seconds before scattering. Her Majesty, Empress Maria suffered minor injuries after being rushed from the Sun Garden to the Imperial Palace. Several of her security personnel and the Minister of Agriculture, Lord Dunmire, were killed. Among the 20 wounded was Empress Maria's boyfriend General of the Armed Forces Lord L. Lamperouge who was taken to the Noble's Hospital for emergency treatment.

The radical democratic group known as the 'Shining Shield of the People' claimed responsibility for the attack and expressed deep regret that the Empress was not killed.

Death Guard Conducted several raids and netted over 200 members of the radicals and executed them on the spot and civilians calling themselves the 'Shining Sword of the Empress' have begun lynching democratic party members in several revenge killings. Government forces have not done anything to stop the civilians.

Empress Maria has not appeared on camera since the attacks. The main mystery of these mortar strikes is how the radicals knew where Empress Maria was. Investigation has begun and Death Guard Task Force have been assigned to the case.

This has been the fifth attack by the 'Shining Shield of the People' who's cowardly assaults have already killed 200 people. Most being civilians rather than government officials.

Oh no. This is terrible. Simply awful. So much for safety under fascism, though.

THE REPUBLIC OF PARILISA

Empress Maria,

We see it as tragic that your regime forces the freedom loving populace to arms and although we do not condone terrorism in any way, shape or form, we cannot avoid sympathising with the oppressed who sought to liberate themselves through this violent act.

The Republic is more than willing to allow suspected members of this “terrorist” organisation to emigrate to the safety of Parilisa, where they will be more than welcome. We understand that you wish to bring these people to justice, but Parilisa is aware that you have killed many innocents during your campaign of terror against these freedom fighters. Again I emphasise that we will be happy to accept these people into our nation; they won’t be a problem to you anymore, and you don’t have to kill innocent citizens.

Yours Sincerely,

Such a shame that they missed...out on the opportunities provided by the democratic system. We hope that less violent activists will bring around the return of freedom in Ralkovia.
