The Eternal Swarm
26-03-2009, 11:25
This thread goes out to all nations, without exception. MT, Past, FT, Fantasy, you name it, you can have a role in it.
So let me tell you what The Swarm is doing now.
In Deep space, where only the FT'ers dare to tread, an ancient wooden box was found floating. Where it came from, and how it got there is a mystery. Inside this box was an aged and ancient book bound in flesh. The pages were made of a strange paper the swarm had never encountered. Similarly, scrolls and journals accompanied it. Granted, 99.99% of the swarm doesn't read, but Irene can.
What she read filled the swarm with a biting curiosity, and has driven it in search of what the books and scrolls spoke. What they spoke of, were the ancient and powerful entities known as The Great Old Ones. We've all heard of The Great Old Ones, so we all know what The Swarm's looking for. Their genetic data, to assimilate them into the swarm.
Now, we all know the great old ones fought against the gods, and they were defeated. Since we here have all the gods, I find it more likely that The Great Old Ones were killed, not just put into a coma to someday wake up when the stars came right, but outright obliterated.
So all I'm gonna find are their remains, but that's enough.
So what do we do?
Simple, you get ten posts to stop me from finding a clue to their remains. You won't know what I'm doing there (unless you can somehow divine the Overmind's thought) only that some foreign visitor up to some strange and disturbing activities. (No persons will be murdered unless you attack me first. Although Graves will be robbed, Mueseums looted, and libraries left bare.)
So, who's in?
Oh yes, everyone gets "robbed" simultaneously. All information will be passed through the Overmind. No I'm not going in with a giant armada of ships, I might not even bring in a ship. I might come in on a routine transport. Regardless, I'm there, somehow, and once you stop me, I leave, or, once I find what I'm looking for, I leave.
One person will be selected to host the actual remains, and removed from the first round. This person gets the dubious good fortune of dealing with Hive Fleet Kraken as The Swarm pulls together what forces it can to get those remains no matter what.
Part 1 is Character only. I will have at most, five Swarmlings of any variety. Two luck nations get Cerebrates Zasz and Dangaloth. The One facing a portion of Kraken Gets Irene!
SO, here's what I need:
Location: Replace this run on sentence with where the search is happening, and I don't mean your entire country, I want an exact location such as a graveyard north of such and such city.
Item searching for: Replace this run-on with what I'm looking for, such as a note or scroll buried with it's owner, or a map or some such in a mueseum, or a particular book in the library.
Are you open to hosting the remains of The Great Old Ones?
Da list:
"Lucky" nation who is held in reserve for round 2:
I will decide what is on each note based on who I select for round 2.
As for what I'll have, I'll post that when it becomes relavant.
