In planning the ASoGM's latest mega mall, designers are going to attempt to create the world's largest Monolithic dome. The plan for the structure calls for a 500 meter diameter, with a total height of 60 meters. Construction of the structure will start with a massive airform, which will be completed with foam, rebar, and concrete. Skylights will provide natural light, supplemented by energy efficient artificial lighting.

Planning to open in the mall is a multi-screen movie theater, an aquarium approximately 57,000 square meters in size, a massive food court, grocery stores, department stores, and a park/playground. Construction will take approximately 3 NS years to complete, and will celebrate its Grand Opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony. There are talks of a Phase II as well, where a second dome would be constructed adjacent to the first.

"Sir," a file clerk says, handing the floor manager a print out of a news paper article. "The ASoGM is planing to build the worlds largest Monolithic Dome. Maybe even two."

The Floor manager read the document over, before rushing back to his office. He picked up the hammer shaped phone handset, from it's tool belt shaped base, that connected him with the President. "Sir," he said. "This is Palmer Jones, from DSC, yes floor 22, Domes and Spheres. Yes. Well, sir, we need to build a dome sir. Yes. Yes. A Monolithic dome, at least 500 meters in diameter, and 60 meters in height. Yes. Yes. Why, well sir, I'll tell you. The ASoGM, is planing, and may have already started one, with a second one in the works. Yes. Yes sir. Three years. Yes. Well, I agree, a must avert this Monolithic Dome gap. I don't know sir. No sir. I don't know whose fault this is. No sir, I had no prior knowledge. Yes sir, I understand it will look reactionary. Yes sir, we will keep it low key. Yes, I will find out how we got so behind in the field of Domes. Yes sir, head will roll in the dome department. No sir, no issues in the Sphere department, we still maintain a proper number of spheres of the proper size. I assure you sir, there is, and there shall not be a Sphere gap. Thank you sir."

Palmer put the phone down, and then, using his favorite method, fired half of the Dome department, while promoting the other half. He then gathered them together, and began planing an audacious project. They were going to build three Monolithic domes, in three different rural areas. They would be exactly 1,650 feet in diameter, and 200 feet in height, dimensions slightly larger than the ASoGM's design. They would be constructed from steel, aluminum, and titanium, and some carbon composites. Their use, had yet to be determined, and as such a memo was sent out to sub-floor 5, the Office of Usage Planing. The project was scheduled to be completed within two and a half years. A short announcement of the project was placed. On page A22, of the Beatusian Daily Trumpet. It took up a small section, in the lower right hand corner of the page, and shared the page with the obituaries section. It read,

Government announces building of domes.

Along with a picture of the design concept.

The designers of the Centerfire Mall, as it was now being called, read the Beatusian announcement and viewed the concept pictures, after the Associated Press picked up the story. They laughed as they saw the design, noting the attempt to trump the ASoGM project. The designers of the Centerfire Mall would get the last laugh though, as they knew something the Beatusians didn't.

Floor 22, Office of Spheres and Domes, Balcony

Palmer Jones, was holding his teem meetings, as he often did, on the 22nd floor balcony, as it provided a good view of the Globe Building's sphere. They were discussing the Monolithic Dome project, he was only half paying attention to it, until, one of the architects from the Sphere department, started to talk. "I have an idea, that will make our domes, far far better than anything the ASoGM, can ever produce. We take our initial dome planes, however, we add an 800 foot diameter sphere to the top of it." The room was quite, but not for long.

One of the men from Domes spoke up, "Can we do that? I mean, is it structurally, possible?" He probably knew the answer, but had to do something to keep the project in Domes' hands.

"Of course," the man replied. "We have been running simulations, and we have found the proper configuration, and material to ensure a stable, workable design."

"I like it," Palmer said, thus ending any discussion on the matter. "What will this do to construction time?"

"Well," the Spheres man said. "The best estimates show at least 2 years to complete the spheres, and work will have to begin on site, when the domes are completed, no sooner. The good news, however, that we believe the domes will be perfectly safe, while construction is underway, and therefore, can open on schedule, with minor inconvenience."

"Do it," said Palmer, pleased with this new development. "This will surely give us an ace up our sleeves with the ASoGM." And thus the meeting broke up, and everyone moved back inside, where bug sweeps ensured there were no listening devices, satellites could not see them, and any kind of long range listening device would be useless, to work on the project.

Your offer is accepted. Since you are the first corporation to secure a storefront, you will have several locations to choose from.

Project Update.

Early on in the construction process, before the airform was in place, the decision was made to expand phase one and build the second dome at the same time as the first one. This would eliminate the second phase all together, and keep the construction crew the same for both domes. The connection between the 2 domes is also being increased in width and height, to improve the square footage.

With the addition of the second dome, the new footprint is 1,000 meters in length, and 500 meters in depth. The connecting corridor will be 250 meters in depth, and have a height of 45 meters.

Floor 24½, Multi-Office Meeting Room

Palmer Jones was beginning to feel the pressure. This dome-sphere project, could be he ride to the top, or to high blood pressure, and an early death, but that was in Bob's hands now. He stood at the end of a long oval conference table, in the Multi Office Meeting Room, which was an architectural feat in and of itself. The room, was set between the 24th, and 25th floors. Half sets of stair cases lead up and down to both floors. They were short, as the floor of the Multi-Office Meeting room, was set at about the middle of floor 24, and the ceiling was set at about the middle of floor 25. The room, was in the exact center of the building, on the horizontal plane.

Palmer Jones, was chairing the meeting. It was between the Office of Domes and Spheres, his own floor, the Office of Usage Planing, from sub-floor 5, the Office of Prison Construction, sub-floor 10, and the Office of Law Enforcement Design, floor 28. He was nervous. "Okay, give me a rundown of the project as it stands?" he said, starting to sweat.

"Well sir," began on of the men from Usage Planing. "We were thinking of a good use for the sphere domes, and decided, why not make them prisons. Minimum Security, of course. We can contract out, and take in other nation's white collar criminals for a profit."

"This is very unorthodox sir," replied one of the men from Prison Construction. Normally we are given free reign on prison designs, why should we work with these hippies from Domes and Spheres. I don't like it."

Before Palmer could answer, an engineer from Law Enforcement Design put in his two cents, "Actually, looking at the basic designs, this appears to be a very sound design for a minimum security prison. It's spacious to allow for the spas, squash courts, and visitors quarters. Also, access to the sphere section, is a good choke point, and exit from the sphere through the outside, is neigh impossible, due to the shape of the Dome, and at best, will result in serious injury. This could net us a lot of money, not to mention the fact that it solves the issues of people complaining about how ugly prisons are."

At that, the man from Prison Construction, attempted to lunge across the table, at the engineer. However three men from Domes and Spheres grabbed him before he was successful. "Well, I think all points have been made clear, and I doubt Domes and Spheres have any complaints," Palmer replied. "I believe these Sphere Domes have a purpose now. Get to work, I want detailed designs by the end of the month, and I want to see cooperation." He eyed the men from Prison Construction. "From all of you."

IFC wishes to open a consultancy clinic and data gathering centre. The public face of IFC in the ASoGM dome would be offering consultations on fertility concerns such as increased or decreased fertility, family planning and alternative options for procreation.

There are no plans for operating any biological laboratory research out of this clinic at this time and the clinic itself would be more about providing information then treatment.

We might be interested in housing our social and survey research unit in this clinic which would gather data on fertility and population growth in ASoGM as well as survey attitudes towards procreation related technologies.

IFC is interested in information about how ASoGM culture and citizenry are likely to react to such a firm operating inside its borders and what sort of competition already exists. If we are able to do business then it might also be worth our while negotiating office space in a more secure location for a treatment and research clinic.

IFC is a stable and expanding company that holds a monopoly on fertility treatment in Sarrowquand and has offices in Prycuse.

Thank you for your time.

We are happy to accept advice on how best to procede in this endevour, so if ASoGM feels that a second entrance would be useful to our customers, etc then we would like to take you up on the offer.

Are we likely to run into any issues or controversy whilst conducting our buisness, or applying for off-site lab space?

Associated Press:

Only weeks away is the Grand Opening of the Centerfire Mall. From the information the developers have been able to obtain, the 1,000 meters long x 500 deep structure is the largest known Monolithic dome in the world today. As previously stated, the Centerfire Mall will play host to a multi-screen movie theater, an aquarium approximately 57,000 square meters in size, a massive food court, grocery stores, department stores with Shinjuku Outfitters as the anchor store, and a park/playground. Also opening is the Pin Assassins Bowling Alley, with 32 lanes, computerized scoring, a lounge, and snack bar. There is still retail space available in the Centerfire Mall, although it is unsure how long that will remain that way.

The Centerfire Mall celebrated its grand opening today, with thousands of people showing up to view the marvel of engineering, as well as the various businesses located inside. No major problems were reported, although there were a few reports of lost children who were later located in the arcade or aquarium.

A spokesperson for the Centerfire Mall said that there are still rental opportunities available, if any domestic or international businesses are interested.
