Leaked plans for "Lightning"

North Defese
25-03-2009, 01:03
All across North Defese and international broadcasts, a man appears on screen, holding a small stack of papers in front of him and a flag with a bear and a lightning embedded on it.

"Greetings North Defese, and nations of the world, I am a member of the Defesian Freedom League, we are fighting the new regieme in our nation, with its dictater lying to the masses.
Our brothers in the new goverment have uncovered plans for a new doomsday weapons being planned by the North Defesian goverment. A new orbital space station, known as the "Lightning" is currently under construction at several top seceret locations dotted around North Defese. Its only a matter of time before our tranmission is interrupted by the authorities, and the Totalitarian State we now live in, they say they are banning the serceret police, but this is a lie! Rise up my brothers! We must bring democrocy to North Defese and end the evil agenda---"
The tranmission was cut with a Goverment message stating technical difficulties prevented the program from continuing

"Son of a bitch!" Major Kemenes Bertha exlcaimed as he threw the manilla envelope on the table.

The other five Black Guard field agents took the folder and passed it around to read the contents and the mission statement within:

Code: KODIAK
For classified eyes ONLY!!!

It has come to the attention of officials within the Free Nation of Ursava that the supposed 'new' government of North Defese is anything but, simply one dictatorship replacing another. Thus it has been decided that it will be necessary for wet-works operation in the from of covert intelligence extraction and possible elimination of various political targets aadressed via various code-names in encoded burst-messages for safety of both the operation and the agents involved. However, given the nature of the Black Guard this will essentially be an act of terrorism. There will be no forms of country markings or identification on any operatives and if confronted, the government will deny knowing said operatives. Insertion will be performed with a C-130 based HALO jump in international waters which will result in the insertion of the team somewhere along the North Defese southern coast-line.

"We leave three hours before dawn." Major Kemenes Bertha stated to his men.

From: Baron Yuri Pavelov

It has recently come to our attention that your nation is currently in the process of creating a space borne WMD. As our nations are very similar politically and socially, we in Volzgrad are willing to lend a hand in this project if you are interested. As we already have several orbital weapons in our arsenal, our nation has plenty of experience in such matters. If you are interested, then we can sent both several of our top military engineers and all the materials necessary to construct this weapon. In return, we ask simply to have a Volzgradien Military Base constructed in your most glorious nation of North Defese. This base is not for offensive use against your nation, that I assure you good sir. It's purpose will be to act as a defensive bastion in case your nation is invaded by another world power. It will allow Volzgradien troops to quickly respond to any major problems or threats if needed be. Grand Duke Alexander Kavinkov II is also very interested in opening diplomatic relations and trade with North Defese. Please respond as soon as possible.

MBSA(Mokastana Bureau of Secret Affairs) HQ, Mokastana City

In an underground room where meetings don't occur involving people that don't exist it was just another day to the spooks that made sure that Mokastana was safe. At the moment an unnamed man was talking to an unnamed committee to see if a recent broadcast should be considered creditable.

"This nation, North Defense, has shown up on numerous intelligence reports over the past few weeks, and while they are not deemed a threat to the People, this situation still requires out attention. Therefore I am requesting that this so-called "Doomsday Device be investigated by a squadron of Mk. 2 External Orbit fighters, if anything to see what they have in the skies above North Defense."

"If our fighters in their space are noticed it could be deemed an act of war."

"Not likely, not only is information on our space based fighters extremely limited, but the EOF-2s do not have any markings on them, seeing as they are completely under our command."

at the head of the table a man stood up and quickly got the rooms attention.

"Very well, I authorize a flight of two EOFs to investigate, allow them to fire if need be, but make sure they cannot be traced to the Genesis."

MSS Genesis, First Militarized Space Station of the People's Republic

For the first time in a while, the MBSA fighter team had received orders. This time it was to do a pass into the airspace of North Defense, photograph and orbiting junk that looked out of place, and take a few random shots of the country side, to be sorted out by the desk jockeys later.

The External Orbital Fighter was designed for exactly what it sounded like, Orbital combat, without ability to enter the atmosphere, developed in secret the fighters were armed only with twin rail guns, each capable of firing a guided 20mm High Explosive shell every 5 seconds. Resulting in a fire rate of 2.5 seconds. Using Infared/radar scanners the shells could track a target (assuming it was not below the horizon) and use pressurized gas to turn the shell to correct any in flight errors it may have in getting close to the target.

However it was not the weapons of the EOF-2 that would be used in this operation. The goal was to just fly in and take a few pics, nothing more. Shaped oddly similar to the F7U-3 Cutlass (http://www.bluejacket.com/usn/images/ac/f/f7u_vought_cutlass_b.jpg) the two were painted black with radar absorbent materials to try and appear smaller and more like mere space junk following an orbit.

The two space craft soon left from the Genesis heading north to create a false direction to come from, and once they created an orbit cut their engines to reduce heat signatures and began orbiting towards North Defense.

His Majesty Robert J. Hamson. It had a ring to it, and he was enjoying his new title with a glass of champagne when a officer from Logistical Command, (newly hired) entered the room.
Bowing, he placed a folder on the desk marked "TOP SECERET" on the top. He then stepped back, staring straight ahead and saluting, arm not moving from his head as His Majesty read the report.

"This looks important" His Majesty remarked, opening it and skimming down the pages.

When he was finished, he looked up at the officer.

"What is this?"

The officer, finally lowering his arm, responded.

"A terrorist orginization consisting of old officers from the old regime has somehow leaked information regarding our new space station. They have blown it out of proportion, instead of saying its an experimental anti-missile shield, they are running around yelling doomsday. They had a broadcast earlier, ive included it in the report. Its on the last page..."

After reading the full report
"Have any arrests been made?" His Majesty asked calmly.

"None so far, weve prepared a statement for you, international response will be swift and brutal if they believe we are building a doomsday cannon."

"Let me see the statement..."

The two orbiting fighter/cameras....

As the duo made it near North Defense Airspace all radio chatter was cut, Radar was shut down, leaving only Infrared to detect anything unusual. With the engines cut they would have to rely on the pressurized gas tanks to gently move them if anything appearing to be in their orbit and could be dangerous. Of course there was not an aspect of this mission that wasn't dangerous, they were flying experimental spaceships into the airspace of another nation without warning or notice, cutting engines and communications, and relying solely on cameras and heat signatures to guide them out.

By the looks of it there was not much orbiting over the country, at least not much in geosynchronous orbit anyway. Most of what they found was either just abandoned satellites, debris or other active devices that belonged to anyone who wanted to have their junk shot into space.

However one satellite caught the crews attention off in the distance. Not sure of what it was many cameras zoomed in and began taking pictures, heat signatures for it were normal, and unfortunately the route they were taking was not going to let them get close to it.

Yet it was becoming more and more apparent that the NDs were up to something, what it was now was something to be discovered later.

The JDN (Jacobian Defense Net) looked over the information before them. They did not trust North Defense, but they did not trust shady organizations inside the country either. It has been suggested that a fake missile be sent sent into the country, to see if the satellite was indeed a missile defense system. however, this was deemed to risky and anything that alerted the satellite of a potential threat would be considered an act of war. they decided to wait on the situation, being that they had more immediate matters to attend to...

The station showed no signs it knew it was detected, but several brick sized and conr shaped drones were released, and sped towards the orbiting fighter/cameras with rocket propulsion
When the drones reached the fighters, they latched all around the fighters, and self-destructed. A drone by itself might have only damaged the fighters, but several where latched on each one. And when they exploded they blew them apart.

Onboard the station, a man looked outside from the huge inch thick glass that seperated him from the vacuum of space. When he saw the explosions, he smirked then went back to the weapons lab...

IC:

"What is that?"

One of the pilots guiding a camera noticed that one of the floating satellites began to deploy small items heading their way. After a second or two of disbelief he turned on his radio and bellowed orders to his wingman.

"Echo Echo, incoming!"

The pilots struggled to get the craft back online, firing up the engines and navigation systems since orbit had to be broken. The first brick size items were attaching themselves to the craft as the engines fired up and shot the craft forward. Alpha 1 began to have small explosions tear up its outer hull, causing decompression and system failure as more attached. So he did what he could. Using any satellite network available, he began to broadcast the photographed on open frequencies hoping the intel would make it to useful hands. About 5 photographs had been broadcasted openly before the eject system shot the pilot out and the craft exploded.

The Pilots cockpit normally could survive re-entry, with a 95% probability of success, but a few bricks had detonated and weakened the hull. The pilot and cockpit both burned up in the atmosphere.

Alpha 2 had a little more luck then alpha 1. The first wave of interceptors hit alpha 1 just as both craft's engines activated. Alpha 2 shot up towards the vastness of space with interceptors in chase, only a few had attached and caused damage. The pilot turned quickly towards the station and fired off three 20mm high explosive rounds, unguided unfortunately because he had not the chance to activate the weapons system. The rounds would have to rely on their own IR systems to guide them to a target.

His broadcast of photographs was more secure, aimed at a Mokan Satellite miles away, hoping it might pick it up. His maneuvering however and counter-attack allowed the interceptions to catch up and begin to tear his craft apart before he shot the engines in at full power. At this point he volunteered an ejection before the craft was completely destroyed and soon his cockpit was flying in the atmosphere and towards the ocean. He could only hope that someone would find him, someone who was allied at least.
Farenz
28-03-2009, 04:51
It was the pilot's very luck that there was, in fact, a friendly ship in the immediate vicinity. The cockpit splashed into the ocean about fifty feet from the port side of a marked Farenzian trading vessel bound for South Defese. The crew crowded around the railing to see what it was. Asfter a minute, there were many shouts of "Hey, there's a man in there!" and "He needs help!" These statements were in both Russian and English. The ship changed course to get close to the capsule. The cargo crane was deployed and the capsule was pulled safely onto the deck.
((OOC: Hope you don't mind me jumping in.))
Mokastana
28-03-2009, 07:16
OOC: go right ahead, I wasn't sure what to do with the pilot actually. So this is perfect

IC:

The pilot was dazed, confused, and fading in and out of consciousness, the into-atmosphere ejection system was never formally "tested" so the fact that an attacked craft could launch and successfully bring a man alive home was, in of itself, a miracle.

The hull however, had seen better days, the heat shielding that collapsed over the windows of the cockpit had ended up melting together to form a layer of charred metal over the top of the craft, until one panel fell off. The parachute did deploy once it was at the right height, but it dropped the craft nose first into the water where the system deployed "floaties," or in a sense, really big bags of air. If the craft would of landed on ground, the thing would have smashed apart.

Inside the pilot stirred. The heat inside was near unbearable, he was sweating and taking off any gear he could, trying to in vain cool off. Looking out the smudged and blacked glass where a heat shield panel had fallen off the craft, and began to bang on it once he saw human shaped shadows vaguely through the mess. At that point he turned a bruised and warm head towards the handle below the panel: "MANUEL OVERRIDE."The cover over the handle comes loose when the cockpit is ejected, to ensure the pilot can reach it when the craft lands.

He pulled up and the side window opened, letting in a cool rush of sea air.

"It's about time." He said in spanish, right before passing out. On his panel of controls one unmarked red light flashed every 5 seconds, normally it would have gone unnoticted other then the fact that it was the only thing lit or moving in the entire craft.
Farenz
28-03-2009, 20:42
The unconscious man was disconnected from any devices that might hold him in and carefully lifted out of the capsule. A few people examined the flashing red light, but couldn't make sense of it. The man was taken below deck by two of the crew and placed in one of the lower bunk beds. One of the men who carried him got a chair and stayed by the bed to keep an eye on the stranger while the other went back to his post. The man who stayed conveniently spoke fluent Spanish.

The light signaled to a Mokan Satellite that the craft had successfully made it down. This situation started out as a typical black op to discover information on what someone was doing. Something the government did on a semi-regular basis, but now it went to hell, and the MBSA had to work fast.

The space department was new with the orbital fighters, while the land launched fighters for space combat were on the second generations. However they had not planned for a situation like this, sending forces around the world to make an emergency rescue was hard. So what they did was load up a Mk.3 Eagle Trasport, an evolution of the original Mk.1 Eagle Starfighter (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13655146&postcount=378). This craft was designed to load up on a group of specialty trained Jaguar Elite commandos to retrieve the equipment, after being deployed to the area. Orders were simple: A) retrieve the pilot, B) retrieve the intel, C) destroy all evidence of the vessel.

The craft took off from an undisclosed location in the mountains of Wellovia, and flew towards the last known location of the escape pod.

On the ship, the man slowly regained conscious, not sure of what happened, he looked around a little, and noticed a man sitting next to him.

"Donde estoy?" (where am I?)

"Trading ship, that means, uhh....astronaut right?...I am an astronaut. Need to get home."
Farenz
29-03-2009, 23:01

30-03-2009, 20:35
The pilot waited for the man to come back, as his thoughts and memories began to come back to him, despite the throbbing in his head. Did the files get sent? Who was he spying on? How was he spying? plane...no that wasn't it...astronaut, spaceship?

Halfway around the world the Eagle Star Transport was entering the atmosphere, turning off the in atmosphere engines and activating the ion engines to speed over the continents towards the downed craft. GPS showed that it went down over the ocean, but the craft was on the move, speed and direction implied it was on a boat heading towards North Defense, the last thing they wanted was the enemy figuring out who was spying on them. So a military rush was ordered.

The only military units in the area was a submarine, the MNS Explorer, on a routine patrol through a Mokan shipping lane. Yet when an order from high command, more interestingly the MBSA, they immediately changed directions, orders and went towards North Defense, to act as a pick up for someone, or something they were not allowed to know.

With a clunk, the ungainly craft detatched from the high altitude jet, and ignited its main engine with a roar, ascending into space. Miles away, the Starfighter transport was re-entering the atmosphere, this was always the hard part, shutting off the ion engine and then hoping the jet fuel ones would kick on while the massive plane glided down towards the ocean. The plan was to make the soldiers para-drop into the ocean. Along with the supply crate, each soldier and the crate were fitted with buoyant equipment to engage once they hit the water. The soldiers would then swim towards the crate, and unload the inflatable rafts and wait for contact from the the Explorer.

However they would be in charge of the operation, currently they were going to land between the freighter and its intended port, allowing them to intercept it and hopefully board it, then continue with operations.

The star transport long range sensors picked up the fact the ship was closer to the coast then anticipated, and this mission was going to be hard and close. The plan was changed to something more dangerous and, probably suicidal. They were going to paradrop right on top of the freighter, and force it to turn around, or at least makes sure there MBSA secrets remain secret. With or without the use of explosives.

But first, they had to do something important.

Inside the astronauts ear, a buzz went off, signaling that MBSA units were in route and within radio contact, the earpiece began to broadcast to the Star transport everything it heard.

"Ramsey, are you alright? say something if you are, speak the code if you are compromised."

"Thanks," he said aloud, "I feel better now, umm....so what is going to happen when we reach shore? My government would be willing to pay handsomely if you can keep my ship and me quiet."

As the man left the pilot checked out to make sure no one else was around by getting out of the bed and checking the hall outside. Then went back to the bed and spoke to the command unit, in a whisper but loud enough for the ear piece to pick it up.

"Jaguar Teeth, this is Flying Circus, I believe this is a neutral freighter, claimed to be of Farenz origin. As you heard I am trying to bribe my way home. What is the situation?"

"Flying Cirucs, you are approximately 25 miles away from port. We are using an Eagle Transport and have a diver on route. Insertion may have to wait until night, if bribe fails we will know and act accordingly. However enemy may be picking us up, so once the decision is made we will be unreachable."

The communication officer on the transport used his words carefully, despite the heavily encrypted channel, they still wanted to make sure anyone listening would not know what they are talking about.

"Understand. What happened to...you know."

"Not as lucky. Be careful out there, we wont leave you."

-------

In a bunker that didn't technically exist with people of the same quality stress was brooding. Whatever this was, it had blown up the fighters and therefore was a lot more advance then previous assumed.

"Now Gentlemen, this could still be a missile defense program, albeit more advance then assumed, but with the way it acted, we can assume they have something up there and are paranoid about it."

"In that case put up some Eagles, preferably two six craft teams. Arm them with space combat load outs."

"what about the pilot down?"

"What do we have in the area?"

"One transport with Elite troops, and a Sea Wolf on the way.

"Very well, since the freighter is to close to ND shores to sink. Get satellites over the area, two Spy and one FOBS, one with the EMP/Nuclear loadout."

"Yes sir."

With this recent meeting, three satellites changed orbit to head over the ND space. two were unmarked weather satellites, and the third was registered to Mokastana News Network.

The man came back in the room and shook his head a bit. "Sorry, the captain says its our duty to report this, he's going to send a short-wave radio signal to the Farenzian government once we reach South Defese to tell them what happened."
((OOC: Why do you keep saying North Defese even though I keep specifying South Defese?))

OOC: wow, sorry, wow....Normally I am multitasking when I post so i tend to over look details like that as of late. Ok then, satellites still going to North Defense, but South Defense may complicate things.

IC:

"Is that so? Very well, I guess you should do what you must."

All information was transferred to the orbiting Eagle Star transport. Which then transferred the information to MBSA HQ, it was no secret that other nations had space militarization, but so far Mokastana had managed to keep its extent mostly hidden from the world. However the solutions were growing smaller, destroy the boat and pilot to keep state secret from possible allies, or attempt to contact SD and Ferenz governments with the need to get their man and supplies back.

((OOC:Its all right))

The ship was about ten miles from the port now. The man looked at the astronaut and asked, "Have we gotten ourselves into anything we shouldn't be involved in?"

Logistical Command
Currently at Defcon 4
Earl was snoozing in his cubicle when his computer began beeping and a pop-up alerting him of forgien satillites entering North Defesian space. Procedure dictated during Defcon 4 forgien satillite's entering Defesian space are to be monitered. If they are commercial the feed its broadcasting will be recorded and the place it is broadcasting too in order to assure its authenticity, then it will be put in a report and sent to the supervisers. If it was a military satillite it was to be monitered, and his superiors immediatly alerted.
Earl clicked away the messages, and attempted to locate what the satillite was and where it was broadcasting too.

on the ship...

"Let's just say that there are some things that are better kept quiet. I do not know how my superiors will handle this, but you can expect that they want to keep this quiet."

At this point the Eagle transport stayed in radio range, luckily the small transmitter in the pilots ear was magnified by the "ejection seat" and broadcast to the transport who kept listening in. The commander was waiting for the right moment to para drop his units in. At the moment he was in lower orbit planning a para drop onto the docks and taking control of the ship from there, but not sure how that would work out.

SPACE!!!!!!

Two of the spy satellites were just transmitting basic info back and forth and some back to Mokastana. Both were unmarked and the signals were encrypted and sent threw at least five different national satellite networks. The MNN satellite was passing back and forth broadcasts around the world and the occasional static.

((I actually forgot about it, but here is something to get it moving again.))
The ship docked in South Defese and deployed its on-board cargo crane. The cargo hold was opened and the crane began to unload various crates onto a flat-bed semi truck. The captain got on his radio and used a special station to begin sending a report to the Farenzian government. "So, what should we do with your pod thing?" Paul asked.
