OOC: This thread is open, however keep any troop deployments reasonable. I reserve the right to ignore any posts or posters that are unreasonable. Al-Huabid and Hassid are located in the NS version of North Africa.

AL-HUABID - The suburbs of the Tolvanic colony of Al-Huabid were rocked by rocket fire for the sixth time this month. Local police report that four people, including one police officer, were killed and another fifty-three were wounded when a rocket landed near the bustling Yasser Market just after the peak shopping hour. The latest attack, the sixty-third this year, brings the death toll to forty-four. The rocket attacks have originated from the Adid Province of the neighboring Arab Republic of Hassid.

President Mohammed Assad of Hassid has repeatedly denounced the attacks and had promised that Hassidian forces would take action to thwart the attacks, however they appear to have made little progress thus far.

Governor Sir Ibrahim Hassan has stepped up his denouncements of President Assad and has threatened force if the attacks are not ceased. The Governor's Office has confirmed that elements of the Al-Huabid Colonial Militia have been placed on alert and the Major General Yassim has been in contact with the Commonwealth Combined Staff to coordinate possible punitive military operations against Hassid.

In addition, the Admirality has confirmed that the Royal Navy has deployed additional forces to the Mediterranean Sea. It refused to confirm that the forces were part of any planned operations against Hassid.

We will follow the situation as it develops further.

Taboksol Central News Agency broadcast:

The Dear Leader, Dong Hanuel-hye, supports every attempt of Hassid's in warding off obvious royally-influenced imperialism from it's glorious and independent autonomous borders, to which is a decision of a wise one in partaking to preserve national integrity in the face of adversity.

Songun Congress has announced that it shall send 200,000 elite-class special-ops infantry to support Hassid, on board 4,000 FROG-7 unarmed cruise ships. It is together that we should unify to fight for the cause of self-reliant thinking and acting, beyond the marionette strings of imperialist puppets.

More on the situation as it develops.

FOB Sabre
Near the Hassidian Border

FOB Sabre was one of four FOBs established by Al-Huabid Colonial Militia shortly afterwards the rocket attacks began. As the attacks the intensified the recently activated 77th Infantry Regiment (Mechanized) and its supporting units had deployed to the FOBs to begin preparing for the possibilty of cross border raids to staunch the rocket attacks. All along the brigade's armoured vehicles and personnel were checking their equipment and refining their plans for any possible raids.

In his office the brigade's commander, Brigadier Sir Hasam Faris, was drinking tea with his Operations Officer, Major Jacob Craddock, while they pored over reports. "So in addition to our organic units, we've been given the 2/27th Cav and a company of the Desert Rangers for recce duties. In addition we can count on dedicated CAS from the 15th Aviation Batalion (Attack) plus whatever the RAF and Royal Navy has in the AO if and when things jump off. The locals don't have much but light infantry, towed arty and a few battalions of T-54s, in fact I'd be more worried about the shit loads paramilitaries and "volunteer militias" they have."

Faris pointed at another sheet of paper on the crowded table, "What about these Taboksoli blokes and their 200,000 "elite" soldiers they're sending?"

Craddock leaned back before answering, "Intel says they're not especially well equipped or trained. Given their limited air and sea lift, not to mention the woeful condition of their logistical chains, they'll have a hell of a time supporting such a force in the field, especially in combat."

Unbeknown to the Tolvan people, 10,000 of the soldiers were for-real and non-political-tools; they were lead by an Ace-grade general named Roh Sung-min, who was known to be a strategic genius and the main lead in fighting off the imperialist battles in the Anti-Arctic-imperialism struggle.

Their strategics mostly echoed Soviet military philosophy while combining limited 'Songun'/'Juche' elements; the echelonisation of making the tools charge rightmost would assure the elite's initial protection, and indeed, guarantee a certain number of kills, this is of course without going into further much detail.

The rest is outside of known intelligence; Al-Quafir, South Hassid sea border, approaching into desert...

What else was further heaven, was that they found an old MiG-factory in Hassid which was nonoperational. Roh knew the basics of the workings of such factories; with the help of his additional men, he got it up and running in a matter of 2 NS days. In 4 NS days, the first MiG-23MLD (the last variant of this series) should be fully compiled and ready to perform maiden flight. Although only enough kits were found for 21 additional aircraft, it should be enough to pack some extra punch.

Roh just had to keep this secret from the Hassid authorities.

Al-Huabidan - Hassidian Border

While the Colonial Government, and by proxy His Majesty's Government, had yet to order the commencement of Operation Hammerblow, preparations were already underway should the orders be issued. The 301st Combat Engineer Battalion and the 2/27th Cavalry had deployed from FOB Rapier to a position just inside the border. The engineers were hard at work setting charges to destroy the fences and berms used to combat Hassidian incursions into Al-Huabidan soil. The Cav units were in position to storm across the border at a moments notice to begin reconnoitering the area and smashing the light Hassidian units posted near the boundary.

Further to the rear field artillery and air defence batteries were setting up firebases near the border. In addition to the 77th Regiment’s own organic self-propelled howitzers and MLRS, the 151st Artillery Regiment had deployed a battalion of M221 “Sledgehammer” self-propelled howitzers, with their massive 203mm guns, to provide additional fire support deep into Hassidian territory. Mobile AD units were already staging to following the 77th into Hassid, and more static positions were being established to protect vital targets from enemy air attack, assuming anything Hassdian aircraft survived the opening waves of the attack that is.

The rest of the 77th, mounted in their M18 Dragon (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=8739941&postcount=9) MBTs and M14 Spartan I - Mk. II (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=443087) IFVs were on alert and ready to cross the border within an hour of the order being given.

In addition, the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm were replacing all of their aircraft in theatre, 200 F-194 "Pandora" (http://www.forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?p=13478529) multirole fighters, twenty-four A-6E Intruders, and forty B-1C strategic bombers on alert for air strikes against Hassidian targets. Finally, the Royal Navy’s surface ships and submarines deployed to the Med carried a total of over 350 AGM-305 “Lance” supersonic cruise missiles.

For now, the Tolvanic forces would merely watch and wait.

A small biography of Kim Roh-choek, an old Taboksol MiG-ace.

Kim Roh-choek is mute and incapable of passing vocabulary beyond basic needs and fighter jargon; though it has been his obsession to fly in the skies since youth. Most astounding was that he managed to make the borderline of the IQ test required by the military for entry into the Air Force, by answering all the pattern-related questions alone (for the rest he couldn't answer).

Special fly hour provisions are made for him given this innate talent. Sometimes pilots would siphon their own fuel just to satisfy Kim when he was particularly unhappy. The height of his life was the skies. Under his belt, he has 5,000 hours of experience and up to 200 independent kills in test trials using pre-teen-series F-type aircraft.

"MiG-23MLD number 0013 reporting for duty, flying over Al-Huabid airspace... approaching F-194 Pandora..."

"You'd like to think they intimidate me; but screw them, I was born to die in the skies..."

*after a couple of minutes of admittedly stealthy intercepting given the MiG-23MLD's easy visibility, the on-sight radar had four Pandoras on target; the primary weapons configuration, R-43 missiles, locked on to the windtunnels of those so-called 'multirole' fighters*

*he fires on the very same instant, then making a semi-roll defensive BFM maneuver to avoid oncoming targeted missiles; he then ascends into what would seemingly be nowhere after that*

OOC: Do you really think my fighters would be flying without AWACS coverage?

Over Yassil, Al-Huabid

The AWACS operators had watched with great enjoyment as the maniac flying a lone MiG-23 attempted an intercept of a full flight of F-194s. While the newer Pandoras lacked the raw speed of the RAF's Questarian built F-2 Stalwarts (mostly used to protect the airspace of the Home Islands) or the advanced avionics of the F-22C, they were still deadly in air to air combat. Not wanting to be the ones that started a war, they allowed the lone fighter to close to weapons range and discharge a volley of air to air missiles.

The flight commander, Major Richard "Widowmaker" Hatch, thumbed his mic and began issuing orders. "All Oscars break formation and activate AAM counters. Eagle Eye, get me a fix on that little bastard."

With that, the fighters broke their already loose formation and activated their onboard AN/ALQ-214 jammers and began discharging flares and chaff from their AN/ALQ-123 IDECMS (Integrated Defensive Countermeasures Systems). While the AN/ALQ-214 was nowhere near as powerful as the bigger AN/ALG-270s carried by the RAF's dedicated EW birds, they would still wreak havoc on any missile seeker.

Even so, one of the missiles hit home and downed one of the F-194s, however the pilot was able to safely eject.

While the fighters were evading the incoming missiles, the E-3 Sentry orbiting some sixty nautical miles inside the border began passing its track data on the MiG to several SAM batteries near the border. One of them was able to hold the track and fired off a pair of AIM-54S SAMs after the fleeing MiG. The surface launched version of the legendary AIM-54 Phoenix long range AAMs, roared after their prey at nearly Mach 5.

It was the MiG's turn to evade now.

Dear Sir,

On behalf of His Majesty King Samuel III and the Tolvanic people as a whole, allow me to express my sincere thanks for your gracious offer of support against the cowardly Hassidians and the terrorists they harbor. I continue to hold out hope that further bloodshed can be averted and that peace can be restored to the region.

Due to the recent mobilization of Al-Huabiddian Colonial Militia and the deployment of Tolvanic Regular Force units we are incapable of adequately supporting additional ground troops within Al-Huabid. However, should we be forced to take military action, your forces will be welcome to deploy once we hace secured adequate facilities within Hassid to support the deployment and operations of your support.

However, my advisors inform me that our existing infastructure can accomodate special operations forces, aircraft or naval units should you wish to deploy such units instead.

We thank you for you support and look forward to standing beside you against terror and tyranny in the region.

We would like to convey our deepest regret to these terrorist attacks. As such we have deployed a modest amount of troops that we feel still ensures our own national security. We apologise for the meager amount of troops and equipment we can send, as well as their per-se "Backwards" technology.

Mediterranean Sea

The ships were nothing more than glorified and newly painted tramp freighters. A small fleet of the ships were moving through the Mediterranean with 4,500 Troops aboard. The Convoy was guarded by six more "Tramp" Freighters mounting two old 5 Inch guns each, one at the bow, one stern. These "Guards" had Two machineguns aboard and nothing else other than it's "Main" armament. However the ships move at a reasonable pace towards the warzone in an attempt to get into the fight.

The Commonwealth welcomes your support and is greatly indebted by your offer of military support should our attempts to defuse the situation peacefully fail. From: Prince Clovis (4th in line for the throne, commander of her Imperial African Army)

"War should never be waged alone," is an ancient saying with my people. We will support any Tolvan attack as of now the Empress 18th Armada is under my command and as regional commander of Ralkovian forces in the area we should figure out a joint strategy so we may wage a most magnificent war against the Hassid. We shall show these throwbacks of a primitive time what peace through superior fire power truly means. As of now the Rejavank colonial guard is at your disposal should ground war break out. I shall be arriving in your theater within a few day once I leave Rabat.

Aerial forces from Rejavank will be prepared for immediate launch sometime in the next few hours as reserve pilots have been called to active duty. We believe we will be able to fight in this conflict with the capabilities for a full aerial, ground, and maritime conflict within the next 4 days. If you have any information on what type of weapons and vehicles the enemy uses it would be most useful.

Sincerely yours,

Prince Clovis, servant to Empress Maria, 4th in line for the throne, Governor of Morocco.

OOC: I don't have time for a proper IC post, so I'll respond OOCly. Tolvan is somewhat isolationist, despite its colonial holdings, and is typically quite wary of formal alliances. As such, it'd be out of character for the Commonwealth to enter your alliance. However, there is no reason why our individual nations can't become allies. If you wish to withdraw or reduce your troop commitment I understand completely.

Also, some notes on the area:

Al-Huabid has a population of 2.4 million with just over 35,000 in the Colonial Militia, mostly ground troops, most air and naval forces are from the RAF and Royal Navy
Hassid has a population of about 5 million with a 150,000 man army, about 100 combat aircraft, and no navy to speak off
There are an estimated 50,000 militiamen in Hassid some are governmnt backed paramilitaries (think Saddam's Fedayeen) and others are simply terrorists (think Hezbollah)
Hassid's populace is almost entirely made up of Arab Sunnis
Al-Huabid's populace is almost entirely Arab, but about 80% are converts to Christianity
Despite the population imbalance, Al-Huabid's GDP is about three times that of Hassid and the populace is much better educated, unlike Hassid where 60% of the population are functionally illiterate

I'll post ICly later today to brief my allies ICly.

(Even if you were isolationist, it would be an important part to further your trade and while this may be a formal alliance you are quite self-sufficient so you could sell much to our members increasing commerce while you have the capabilities to leave at any time and to remain isolated[lots of exporting few imports]. Moreover, your sovereignty and trade would be extended over a much larger area and in certain cases your naval forces would be strengthened as they would be allowed to use members ports. This is an economic alliance and your trade can only be increased at this point.

Even if you won't join I'll still help you. As you said their is no reason why we can't individually be allied. )

We have arrived within the Theatre, my Combat ships have arrayed themselves between the Land and my Transports. Any instructions you could give up for Landing Operations would be helpful, my troops have no armored vehicles however they have brought Greater War Hounds, as well as numerous towed Artillery peices. We are prepared and ready for landing at your order. While short ranged compared to modern military weaponry our 5 inch guns should have the reach to hit enemy ground forces at the landing point if there are any.

However, if you want us to provide rear security because of our relatively small number of forces we will not shun the choice or the task.

A smattering of high-level government and military officials, clad in fancy business suits and full military regalia, sat around a wide ebony conference table in the Council Chamber of Anderhaal Palace, chattering quietly to one another. The grand door opened and a secretary holding a black binder appeared. The small crowd of men jumped up from their seats as the secretary was followed by His Majesty, Frederick, Prince of the Realm.

The secretary opened the binder to a specific page and passed it off to the Prince, who examined it for several seconds. After the brief silence, he snapped the binder shut, proclaiming, “ah yes, the defense briefing on the Al-Huabid situation that I asked for.”

Prince Frederick walked up to the table and, only just realizing that everyone was still standing, announced “Please be seated,” as he took his own seat. Having only been crowned several weeks ago, Frederick was still getting used to the pomp and ceremony surrounding his new position as the Sovereign of the Realm. “So, Minister Fehrenback,” he flashed a smile at Otto Fehrenbach, his good friend and newly-appointed Defense Minister, “What is going on in that turbulent part of the world today?”

“Actually, Your Majesty, if I may,” jumped in General Braunshweig, the Army Chief of Staff, “We have another small issue here at home that the Defense Cabinet thought we should address first.”

Prince Frederick, puzzled, nodded his assent, “Go on then.”

“Well, Sire, it’s the Free Corps,” the General continued. Suddenly, Frederick bristled, the Free Corps was an elite shock formation of Andermark’s Army and had been Frederick’s home of fourteen years before he had ascended the Iron Throne. General Braunshweig was a Reg, a soldier from the Regular Army, and, in Frederick’s opinion, and the general opinion of the Corps, Regs had it out for the Corps.

“Listen General,” Frederick’s voice rose, “I know you’re a career military man and I value your counsel, but I’m not going to sit here and let you just badmouth my men.”

“No sir, that’s not it,” the General followed up quickly, “but there have been… discipline issues,”

The Prince quieted down. In all frankness, this wasn’t too surprising. Most Free Corpsmen were formerly hardened criminals who had enlisted in the Corps to escape the long arm of the law. They had been trained into something different, but hazing, fighting, and the like were far from unheard of in the Corps. “Issues, how so, General?” he asked.

“Well, as you know, the Free Corps is quite well known for getting into scuffles,” the General said, thinking to himself that he was making the understatement of the century. The Prince nodded in agreement, as the General spoke. “Well, last night, there was another… altercation. According to the provost marshals on the scene, it started out as a little barroom brawl between a Free Corpsman and a few Seagrenadiers, but ended up in an arson that destroyed both the bar in which it took place and the neighboring property, and two dead Seagrenadiers, three dead Civvies, and a dead Long Rifle who somehow found his way into the wrong bar. Not to mention the serious injuries to the establishment’s owner and a number of bystanders.”

“I see,” the Prince spoke, conveying no emotion, “well what do you intend to do about this, General?”

“Frankly, sire,” the General cringed, “We’re still looking into it, one option is to relocate the Free Corps base to a more isolated area, but initial research shows that the civilian population, and most of the military supports disbanding the Corps in its entirety.”

The Prince glared in disapproval, then snapped, “Well, anyway, tell me about this Al-Huabid issue, Otto,” to the Defense Minister.

Otto Fehrenbach produced a number of maps and other images, laying them out on the table. “For a while now, Al-Huabid, the Tolvanic colony in North Africa, has been suffering terrorist attacks by way of the neighboring nation of Hassid. Though the Hassidian government officially claims to be cracking down on the perpetrators of the attacks, they haven’t really been doing anything. In order to ensure its colony’s safety, Tolvan has begun launching an invasion of Hassid. Other nations have jumped on board with Tolvan, including Telvira, Ralkovia, and Sutufinai. One nation, Taboksol, has allied itself with Hassid.”

“Hmmm,” the King thought, “I may have just had a brilliant idea. We can kill two birds with one stone.”

“Your Majesty?” enquired General Braunschweig.

“Well, here’s my thinking. We can send the Free Corps units in question off to war in Hassid. We’ll help resolve the situation, and with the Corpsmen gone for however long, the folks at home will soon forget about the ruckus they cause. In time, they may even become supportive of the Corps.”

The Prince smiled deviously.

OOC: Not for long. It's it's alright with you, I'm going to invest heavily in Hassid. It's not right that stereotypical roleplays like 'IMPERIALIST VS TEH ARAB MUSLIMZORZ' are happening. We will announce this in a more IC manner tomorrow; it may not be alright with you, but seriously, I'm a hard person to shake off once you've let me into a roleplay.

To put it in a rough budget perspective, I plan to inject $80 Billion into Education for Hassid, provide free healthcare to all malitia citizens and their families, and start a huge illiteracy-tackling program, as well as a techno-illiteracy-tackling program for the party intellectuals.

30,000 of the current soldier make-up in Taboksol were ex-teachers or even ex-proffesors at some point in their lives; they will quite easily be able to teach the people these skills, which should self-sustain in their increase once the Hassidians have those skills. I will post rates of their economic growth each year as a result of my assistance of their country. It won't be too disproportionate; just gap-narrowing really.

Here's an image to illustrate my point more clearly. (http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/8227/modmap.png)

OOC: You're assuming of course that Assad and your forces aren't driven into the sea by the Royal Army. Mind you, I have no problems taking this in a different direction, but don't think for one second that the Commonwealth will stand by and allow some long term build up of Hassid without acting.

Admiral,

As a final decision regarding the nature, or the need for, military action has yet to be made we request that your forces redeploy to join the Royal Nayv's Mediterranean Squadron deployed off Hassid. RE: Deployment of Andermarkian Forces

Dear Sir,

As the final decision regarding the nature and necessity of military action against Hassid is pending, I ask that you delay the deployment of your forces until such time as operations have formally commenced. Unfortunately, Al-Huabid's infastructure is currently taxed to the limit supporting the activation of Colonial Militia units and the arrival of additional Regular Forces units and we cannot accomodate your men at present. Should you choose to pursue an alternate location for deploying your troops my nation will gladly assist you in doing so.

Taboksol Central News Agency

The Taboksol Songun Congress of Foreign Affairs and External Trade have recently announced a plan to increase the economic productivity of Hassid three-fold, in what the Dear Leader has described a "brave arduous stand against Al-Huabid and their imperialistic cronies." To celebrate this, we have a new musical piece inspired by Taboksol's own agricultural transformations over 100 NS years ago, entitled 'We Are Masters of The Farm'. Largely, this is a cultural exchange as well as an economic exchange, given that we operate under totally different work and military strategic values.

(music plays; click here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-2pPhw0RuY&feature=related))

The vision by the Dear Leader, for the Hassid people's over the next 10 NS years, entails the following:

- An elimination of illiteracy
- An elimination of technological illiteracy in the intellectually capable (IQ>100)
- An increase in the military industrial production base by 250% of it's current value; extending to larger scale factory projects than exist at the moment.
- An increase in civilian industrial production base by nearly 500%; including diversification into middle-tech industries such as modern textiles, metal-refinement, precision machinery manufacture and car production.
- A huge infrastructure overhaul as demonstrated in the map.
- A tap into current sea-oil reserves which are estimated at half a hundred billion barrels, with production initially starting at 40,000 barrels per day; to increase with economic demand.
- A reversion of 70% of Hassid's economic control to the Taboksol state beurocracies, of which we will build 5 new offices in the capitol; including a second headquarters of the Songun Ministry of External Affairs and Foreign Trade.

Before and after visions of the capitol:

General,

We understand completely that the possibility of armed conflict is only a possibility and not, at this moment, a reality. If such an event were to occur, however, Andermark is prepared to stand side by side with yourselves, deploying its noble sons of Freikorps in your aid, should such a course of action be taken. We will, of course, not deploy our forces without the prior knowledge and agreement of yourself and the Commonwealth of Tolvan.

Currently, the Ministry of Defense's contingency plan, if the Freikorps was called upon, if such a military intervention were to occur in Hassid, would not require much in the way of support from Al-Huabid or its infrastructure. The 1st Free Parachute Regiment would conduct a regiment-wide air-drop by an airfield or port in Hassid and launch an assault on the position. Once the field or port has been taken, it could serve as a receiving and staging ground for further units of the Freikorps, including the No. 4 and No. 6 Free Demi-Brigades, fully sufficient combined-arms task forces that can supply themselves for extended deployments. In such an event, however, we would like to closely co-ordinate our battle plans with yourselves and allied forces.

Faithfully,
Otto Fehrenbach, Minister of Defense for the Realm, Principality of Andermark

Dear Leader Dong Hanuel-hye is approached in the Songun Ministry building by a mid-ranking military officer in full uniform and all honoured medals,

"You knew I felt my innate senses tingling..." said Hanuel-hye,

"I'm not sure about that; but if there is any more orders that could be carried out?"

"Surround all airports with 20 Juche-po artillery all loaded with AAA missiles; send a scramble order to the current 21 MiG-23s in service, including our only ace; make our only ace patrol the border with 4 assisting interceptor pilots so that he can concentrate on actual fighting; I want the rest to generally protect the area of our capitol. Once the first of the factories are built within the larger region of HI, all priority of production must go to infantry mechanisation and anti-air artillery. Do you understand?" commanded Haneul-hye.

"I understand, my Glowing Sun of the Revolution." The military officer bowed down in response.

Then he raised his fist to the air. "MAN-SE!!! MAN-SE!!!!"

Off Shore, Sutufinai Naval Det.

The Sutufinai naval detachment followed it's orders, it cruised down the coast billowing massive columns of black smoke. Those tramp freighters seemed to be really the only thing the Sutufinai Navy had. They rumbled down the shoreline the wolf-like crew-members going about their duties as lookouts on the masts watched the horizon and shore for anything dangerous.

Captain MacDonald stood on the shore-side of his flying bridge, looking at the shore he sighed. Lowering the looking glasses as his tail stopped it slow bored wagging side to side and looked to his Executive officer, "So, what do you think we're going to run into when we start landing these boys Geoff? I havn't seen hide nor hair of a damned Shore emplacement or heck a ground unit out there. The lookouts have no either. Other than the wireless messages we've sent to this Lord feller, I don't think anyone knows we're out here."

Geoff chuckled, "Well Cap, I been thinkin' bout this. Y'know how all them new countries gone n' launched those intelligence satellites up into space? I'm guessin, just guessin' that their goin' and watching us right now." He shrugged and looked down on deck watching the soldiers preparing for war. They were going up against assault rifles, with bolt action rifles and semi-automatic rifles...

The Captain looked back at Geoff for a second and then looked up at the sky, "Well if theys watchin' They can kiss my furry ass." He promptly flipped the bird at the sun.

Geoff couldn't help but chuckle before walking back into the bridge, leaving his captain there alone on the flying wing of the bridge.

Despite this, the X.O. couldn't help but hear the prayer on the foredeck by the troops as they stood assembled, "Oh lord, forgive us of our trespasses, and lead us not into temptation but deliver us form evil. For this we are thankful, Amen." Geoff was just looking over when a grizzled old sergeant chuckled,

"An' Lord! Prepare us to be thankful for what we are about to receive!"

Chuckles ran through even the bridge, punctuated by the deep thump of the steam engines.

--

The Fleet of ships moved steadily onward down the shore, at the moment alone, but heading for it's link-up. It was almost laughable probably, to be sitting on the shore, or in high tech fleets, or even up via satellite in space to see 1910 era ships, spewing coal smoke into the air. They were from an era before even the rampant use of submarines was prevalent, they had no aircraft, what could they possibly do against high-tech modern armies?

Kensford, Tolvanic Home Islands

The meeting including most of the Commonwealth's most powerful figures. Key officials from the National Directorate of Intelligence, the Combined Staff, Most oft he Government's Cabinet members, several high ranking MPs from both the Ruling Coalition of the Conservative and Crown Loyalist Parties, as well as key figures of the Opposition Liberal-Progressive Party. In addition several key members of the House of Peers were present. However, the center of attention was His Majesty King Samuel III and his Prime Minister, Sir Tyler Hutchins. Hutchins had grown weary of the lengthy back and forth between the Opposition and Government MPs and Peers that had bogged the meeting down for the better part of two hours, finally he'd had enough.

"Ladies and Gentlemen if I may have your attention," he said loudly as he stood, "This squabbling is getting us nowhere. While I appreciate the Opposition's position that military action may further exacerbate the situation in Al-Huabid, it is obvious that diplomatic overtures have made little headway with Assad and now he has lured in foreign aid to upgrade his economy and military. We all know that Assad, being the insufferable ass he is, will eventually piss off his new "allies" and drive them way, but in the mean time they may suceed in empowering Hassid sufficiently to seriously threaten our interests in North Africa." Hutchins paused to survey the room, but the Opposition was silent. "Now, we've heard General Vega's and Admiral Lord Fitch's reports on the situation on the disposition of our forces and that of the enemy's. Even with aid from Taboksol, Hassid is badly outnumbered and vastly outclassed. After speaking my Ministers and the King, we have reached the decision that the exercise of military action against Hassid and the Taboksoli forces in theatre is warranted and will be undertaken." Hutchins paused once more to look at Reginald Newhouse, the leader of the Liberal-Progressives. Newhouse merely nooded to register his assent and Hutchins began anew. "Very well, as we are in agreement we will launch Operation Hammerblow as planned. Robert, please see to notifying our allies of our plans and issue the ultimatum we discussed to Hassid and Taboksol. Admiral, make your final preparations ."

Your support for the Arab Socialist Republic of Hassid has not gone unnoticed by the Commonwealth. Be advised that the Tolvanic Royal Military and the Al-Huabid Colonial Militia, in conjunction with our allies, are preparing for eminent military action against President Assad and his reigime for their support of terrorist attacks on the Crown Colonial Holding of Al-Huabid and the unwarranted attack on a Royal Air Force fighter in Al-Huabid airspace by a Hassidian aircraaft. You have twenty-four hours to commence the withdrawal of your troops from Hassid or they will be considered as hostil combatants and engaged at will by the Royal Military.

This is your only warning.

The communique set the stage for the attacks. The squadron of A-10s was prepped out, and the Royal Marine Commandos began marking targets for cruise missiles strikes. The two Zumwalt-class destroyers began firing off cruise missiles. The A-10s, escorted by F-15s, began roaming over Hassid, searching for targets of opportunity. They were kept in the air by in-air refueling. F-16s roamed as well, unescorted. They could handle themselves in a dogfight.

Sutufinai Convoy

The Sutufinai Convoy had finally arrived at the rest of the Naval Detatchment. The clean burning or nuclear ships would probably laugh at the odd-ships out. Indeed, the sight from above, with these huge fleets and then these black clouds of smoke rising from the center, rear, or side of the fleet where the Sutfen convoy was. However, the Sutfen were ready as they prepared themselves for the call to arms. Weapons were cleaned and prepared, guns were loaded, Greater war Hounds were armored...

The 1st Fleet of Rejavank had finally arrived in range for a missile launch and now the Ralkovian Empire would crush the enemy like a bug.

Prince Clovis watched from the Vegas dreadnought Albtraum as the first tomahawks scream from their tubes. The 300 streaks of fire in the night as they took off for the Hassidians, 150 of which were designated for a strike against the capital. The tomahawks were aimed at strategic government buildings, organization centers, and powerplants.

At the same time, 200 APGM(Anti-Pavement Guided Missiles) "ANTPAV's" were launched, from the Arleigh-Burkley destroyers, at any runway in Hassid. The missiles picked up extraordinary speed as they finally reached their maximum speed of 2.6 machs. The Hassidians would have a tough time launching Migs if the they had nowhere to take off or land.

Prince Clovis smiled as he received word that the Rejavank air force was ready for its first strike. The First Flight comprised of 20 B-52's, 4 E-2's, 80 Su-27 Flanker's, and 6 F-22 Raptor's. Upon the Tolvan command's permission the Ralkovian flight would be ready for take-off. However 20 F-35II's had already received the go-ahead from Clovis for Operation Back-off and would take-off immediately after the missile strikes for a direct attack on air-defense networks, bunkers, and factories on the west side of Hassid.

Prince Clovis had received orders from the Death Guard Grandmaster under the approval of Empress Maria that it would be necessary to take over Hassid to secure an airbase closer to the vile Balkov colony of Tetra. While helping the Tolvan's was the primary goal of this attack a secondary objective was to secure a slice of eastern Hassid. Prince Clovis knew that if he accomplished the Death Guard's goal he would have the chance to expand his governorship and maybe even become Regional Commander.

Still, Prince Clovis's strategy would have to change. If he just decided to wage a total war against them and destroy mosques and civilian centers he would face insurgency forever.

He would have to resort to the precise strikes that Ralkovia had looked down upon,"To destroy a threat you must destroy it absolutely. Its weapons shall be broken, its food burned, and everything it fights for murdered. You must break it fast and hard or it will merely heal itself. Make the defeated need you to survive. Make sure they know that the hand that feeds them is the Ralkovian hand."

The ancient tomes of the Officer's Academy had been drilled into his head but in this conflict to destroy what it fights for would inflame it even more. Clovis had seen that in the books of Morocco. The Ralkovia Invasion had burned everything and followed everything it said yet the Muslims continued to fight. So he would have to hit them precisely he would have to destroy their weapons but if he would burn their food they would use it to light their torches and burn the ralkovians for years to come.

The initial salvo of Telviran cruise missiles were aimed at airfield hangars, the military headquarters, and any large military base.

The A-10s targeted installations as well, swooping in to shoot up vehicles and personnel. They targeted large military formations, aircraft (those that weren't destroyed when the cruise missiles hit their hangars), and major transportation conduits (bridges, tunnels, etc.).

The F-15s ran cover, attacking any aircraft that managed to scramble to attack the A-10s.

The F-16s roamed. Mid-air refueling kept them roaming for long periods of time. They would respond to Royal Marine Commando calls for air strikes, and hit any targets of opportunity.
