Falkasia

Official Falkasian Press Release

The Glorious People's Republic of Falkasia cordially invites members of all nations to take part in an international conference regarding the Evolution of Warfare that has taken place within our world through the recent years. All nations are welcome to send representatives to take part in discussion, or simply to observe the proceedings. The conference will be held in the Cherkov Ballroom inside the Kazyenko Independence Tower, at the 170th floor; directly above the cloud layer.

Talk will be based on the continually changing spectrum of warfare within the world, and how it affects nations and people as a whole. Such topics will likely include the now widespread usage of WMDs, how certain technologies have effected modern day tactics, and the role certain strategies and tactics have had on nations and the world as a whole.

These are only a few topics suggested, and during this conference, nothing is off-limits to be discussed. It is, after all, a meeting regarding how much the world has evolved militarily.

Once more, we look forward to seeing representatives from all nations attending!

Signed:
Vladimir Kazyenko
Premier of Falkasia

(This will be both an IC and OOC conference, as there is plenty I'd like to share OOC that would be very difficult, if not impossible to share ICly. All other nations are welcome to share their realizations and feelings in OOC as well.)
East Glacia
23-03-2009, 04:21
East Glacia wishes to send Second-Grade General Jordan Freeman to attend these talks.

[OOC: My quality of RP in this be very low, seeing as it will just basically be dialogue, so don't expect anything longer then a paragraph or two, unless the response needs it to fully express my thoughts on the subject.]
Falkasia
23-03-2009, 04:22
OOC: Perfectly fine. I was going to prelude this with a post titled "Fourth Generation Warfare," but decided how I was going to word it would more or less exclude other nations from participating.
Daiwiz
23-03-2009, 04:24
Daiwiz wishes to send General Kratlik to the talks.
Fighter4u
23-03-2009, 04:30
Fighter4u will send Rear Admiral Baldwin to the conference.
Third Spanish States
23-03-2009, 04:31
The soldiers, sailors and pilots of the Confederacy are too busy experiencing such evolution in practice to send any representative to the conference, as all qualified to discuss warfare are currently deployed in our conflict with the totalitarian People's Republic of Spain. We cannot afford to let the people of Spain suffer under unspeakable atrocities or occupy the precious seconds of the MilNet tacticians and strategists outside of battle.
Defense Corporations
23-03-2009, 04:33
The Confederacy of Defense Corporations wishes to send Matahir Law, a lawyer who has successfully represented the Confederacy's interests in such conflicts as the Whiskeasian-Fictions war. Further, we wish to enter into negotiations to podcast the discussions, for an appropriate fee, so that those who cannot attend might still gain some insight into the proceedings.

OOC: Yes, feel free.
East Glacia
23-03-2009, 04:54
[OOC: Just letting you know, this is going to be bad.]

General Freeman finally got off his aircraft and made his way steadily to the conference room. He was unguarded and unarmed, he was fresh an arm-chair general that had no real combat experience but had the East Glacine Ground doctrine pounded into his mind. He would make a good representative for them.

23-03-2009, 04:57
OOC: It's fine, I really expected more interest in this than 3 or 4 representatives. Also, how you RP is really up to you. Good or bad are subjective terms, to be determined and handed out by those reviewing or reading the post. To be honest, it's fairly good for only having 41 posts.

Fatatatutti would like to send General Castro-Stalina as an observer. Since Fatatatutti is a peace-loving nation and since the General has spent her entire career avoiding bloodshed, she might not have a lot to say, especially if the talks concentrate on more efficient means of shedding blood.

As the Silenkov SL-12 Luxury Jet began to land, General Kratlik was looking over his notes. Being one of the few generals who have not actually fought in battle, he was green in some respects, but showed great promise in the war games. Stroking his moustache, he bore a striking resemblence to Stalin, up to and including the uniform. He very well could have been his son.
Sighing, he stowed away the notes, as the seatbelt sign blinked off. The door began to open with a satisfying shish and he began to leave the plane with a small group of Captains, Majors, and Leutenant Colenels. He quickly strode toward the small line of cars waiting to take him and his entourage to the meeting area.

A few hours later

The cars began to pull up to a magnificently tall tower. It spanned the great distance between sky and Earth, seeming as if it was reaching out to pull down the sky. Which it probably could, he thought, at that height.
The quickly filed out of the cars, and a few minutes later they were outside of the ballroom waiting for the door to be unlocked.

General Castro-Stalina stepped down from the C-130, dressed in camo fatigues and a red beret, with no insignia except her name above her right breast-pocket and her parachute badge above her left. The loadmaster threw her bag onto the tarmac beside her and slammed the door. The Herc that she had shared with two vehicles, a dozen sleepy soldiers and a handful of suspicious-looking civilians was already moving again, the prop-wash nearly blowing her off her feet. At one-and-a-half meters tall, with blonde pigtails, she expected to stand out at the conference.

She shouldered her bag and wandered toward the terminal to find a cab.

Here we go again, Matahir thought. Once again, he was 'volunteered' to represent the Confederacy. At least this time he got them to let Naz come along. Officially, she would be helping set up the audio equipment, but all involved knew why she was really coming - she wouldn't have let him go otherwise.

Three black cars drove up, and grim-faced men and women came to the door. Ever since the incident at the bank a month ago, security rose in prominence throughout the Confederacy - even as many of the trained security people got transferred over to GPI. Still, the security team was more than on his last sojourn abroad. On the plus side, they'd be carrying the baggage.

An hour later, they were en route to Falkasia, and already fast asleep. After all, they hadn't slept much the night before - they had had to finish packing, and by the time that was done, they figured it would be easier to get some rest on the plane. Certainly more comfortable than the little flat they called home...
---
"Good evening, sir and ma'am. Well, technically, good morning. We've arrived in Falkasia," the pilot said over the intercom. "Your car is waiting outside to take you to the Tower. It was impressive from the skies; I'm sure it'll be more impressive in person. Enjoy your stay!"

As each party arrived one by one at the main entrance of the Kazyenko Tower, they were carefully screened by the well-trained and relentlessly suspicious secruity guards on duty. Even though most came from trusted nations, no expense could ahve been wasted to insure utmost secruity. Upon clearing the gate and driving inwards toward the entrance itself, each automobile pulled up to a set of white marble steps where a doorman quickly came up and opened the doors; allowing the occupants access to the exterior world.

General Castro-Stalina strolled across the ballroom toward the windows, aware of the eyes on her. At first glance, most of the officers in the room seemed soft, overweight and a little prissy in their oppulent uniforms. She smiled to herself as she tried to picture them jammed into the belly of a Herc or lying in the mud trying not to die. When the bullets are only centimeters above the ground, that's when it pays to be thin.

She stood by the window with her hands in her pockets and looked down gingerly. She didn't like heights - looking up at a tall building made her knees watery - but looking down at the clouds wasn't as bad as standing in the open door of a Herc with the trees rushing by. "If you're getting leaves in your teeth, we're too low," the pilots used to joke. The clouds were patchy and here and there she could see what must have been the city below.

While sipping his water, he noticed many heads had turned towards the newest arrival. Not thinking much of it, he continued to look about out the window. Being at great heights always made him feel comfortable; it had become a running joke with this under his command that he had been born a bird, then the war department peiced him together out of body parts of dead G.I's, keeping the head of a bird. His face looked like one of a hawks, except his eyes looked nothing like that of a bird of prey. If his gaze was to be compared to anything, it would be to a cat. Cold, calculating, and curious, but very kind and sad when he did not have to be around those that either commanded him, or that were commanded by him.
Finally looking at the new comer who had walked to one of the many beautiful windows, he realized with a shock that the officer was a women. He was surprised, to say the least, that a woman had been sent to partake in such a discussion. Quickly controlling his surprise, he walked over and extended his hand along with a "Hello, I am General Kratlik, of the Daiwizian Military. May ask your name?"

"Castro-Stalina," she said. "Fatatatutti. Call me Marie-Louise." She took a half-step back from the window.

"Our suits look a bit out of place," Naz muttered. "No stripes, no stars, not even a little medallion."

"True, true." Matahir replied. "Still, we're wearing the uniforms of our jobs."

"I suppose so."

"I suppose I should do some meet-and-greet, then?"

"Naturally. See you by the cocktail bar!" With that, the two parted ways, Naz going over to talk with the Falkasians setting up the podcast and Matahir drifting towards the center of conversation in the ballroom. He caught a few annoyed looks, but simply smiled back. It was an old trick, but it usually worked to lighten peoples' moods.

He struck up a conversation with a friendly-looking officer - "Hi, my name's Matahir, and I'm representing the Confederacy of Defense Corporations. Is there any piece of military equipment you want to upgrade?"

Dr. Toft gazed out the window while nervously fiddling with the sheaf of papers in his hands. Toft had always hated mingling with other people, especially at conferences such as these, and today was no exception. Still, this conference, hopefully, would be extremely insightful into the state of the world's militaries, and it was his duty, as one of the premier civilian representatives of the Kereptecean Department of War, to attend.

As the cluster of buildings that Toft had reasoned was his destination grew closer, he became more and more nervous. Taking off and landing were the most dangerous part of any flight, he knew, and flying in general was a nervewracking experience for him. When the jet landed, he breathed a sigh of relief. Grasping the small valise and briefcase that held nearly everything he would be needing for this journey, he stepped off of the plane, and into the back of a waiting car.

The journey to the Kazyenko Independence Tower was a peaceful one. By the time they had reached the main entrance, to be screened by vigorous security officials, Toft had almost completely forgotten his fear. After being searched, the car continued toward the tower, pulling up at a set of marble steps that went up to the main doorway into the building. Toft left his bags in the car, to be taken to his hotel, and stepped out. He looked up for a second, marveling at the massive facade of the building stretching above him. Toft was, somewhat paradoxically in light of his fear of flying, quite at home high above the ground, especially in skyscrapers.

Quickly, he walked up the steps, through the doors of the building, into the lobby. Reaching the elevators, he wracked his brain, trying to remember which floor the conference was held.

"Ballroom... Cherkov Ballroom... one hundred something... Aha! One hundred seventy!" He said, under his breath, as he remembered. Entering the elevator and pressing the button for the one hundred seventieth floor, he prepared himself, one last time, for the conference. The ride was a somewhat long one, up into the cloud layer. As the elevator smoothly glided to a stop and the doors opened, Toft put on a smile, and stepped out.

As each delegate entered and made their way away from the elevator shafts and into the main ballroom itself, each was greeting by the building's proprieter and the ballroom clerk. Each guest was only allowed entrance after his or her name was cross-checked against a list of coming guests. Security was, to say the least, at the utmost caution. A few stewards and janitors had already been detained after what appeared to be gunpower and detonation cord was found in their lockers. This was, however, not mentioned as it had been dealt with swiftly and silently.

The ballroom itself was a marvelous feat of beauty unto itself. Gigantic window panes light up the large expanse of a room with the evening light, whilst casting glances of the small city below upon onlookers. The parted clouds only further amplified this effect, making the patrons feel almost surreal about their position high amongst the realm on angels. Occasionally and helicopter or passenger jet would appear, only to disapper underneat the cover of clouds orover the horizon. The ceiling had been decked out with lavish ornaments and ornate chandaliers, adding to the window's effect with an almost artifical glow. The floor was all white marble, near perfect in it's shine and wax. In the middile of the room was a single long table, stretching almost from wall to wall and capable fo seating well over 100 guests. At it's foot was a long stage, complete with curtains and a pedistal for the conference's host. Every measure to ensure comfort and luxury had been made, and it would only be a little bit until the party began.
