Yanbania Strikes!

Yanbania
21-03-2009, 21:29
After a long silence and an eventual tumble into anarchy, Yanbania has made a comeback. The dilapidated army corp, originally composed of Hampshire's greatest, was in shambles. The former general presiding over the army corp, General Eerie X. Briggs, was shot to death two years ago due to ineffectivity. Since then, Yanbania's military corp has faded from the spotlight and grew slowly. The army, now a swelling 1.226 billion in ranks, is trained and ready. It is time for Yanbania to take back its spotlight.

Yanbania Central Military Office, West Yanbanis Army Center, Yanbanis, 2100 hours

"Sir, preparations are ready for Operation F.U.B.A.R." reported a liutenant. The operation had been in its alpha planning stages for 6 months now, and it was time to strike.
"Good," replied General Echo X. Briggs, the corp's new presiding general. He lit up a cigarrette, then continued, "Upload the message to the datalink files and send it to all Hampshire leaders."
His liutenant did as she was told.

From the Datalinks of Liutenant Amy Charleston

To all Hampshire Nation Leaders

General Echo Briggs, Yanbania's new general, is sending you this message in urgency. As you read this message, the Imperial Sashelik Forces (ISF) will be airdropping troops into Hampshire's Red Zone. All nations able to assist are called to do so, as General Briggs has issued a Code Blue. Operation F.U.B.A.R. to drive the Sasheliks back is beginning. All nations, to arms!

Some people would later call it "The War of the Giants" or "The War to End All Wars". For now, welcome ladies and gentlemen. This, is DEFCON I. And we are ready.

Yanbania Eastern Blue Zone, 02130 Hours

"Sir! It's the ISF! They're arriving!" yelled a scout. The army droned into action. Tanks were being set up and artillery pieces were being loaded. Soldiers turned off their safety's on the guns and aimed.
Then...
Over the horizon came a single, lone figure. Then the lone figure began to grow into hundreds, into thousands. A strange language, with a strong accent, could be heard being yelled from the horizon.
"All soldiers, dig in!" was heard from a nearby captain.
"Ready..."
"Aim..."
"...Fire!"
Shots began ringing out as machineguns and rifles lit up the horizon.
"Keep firing!"
The waves of men were almost toy-like, the kind you'd expect to see being played with by a kid. They droned, overruning the preliminary defenses and destroying several sandbag emplacements.
"Fall back! Fall back! There's too many of 'em!" yelled the head commander. And not a moment too soon. ISF artillery began pounding on the Second Defense Line. Yanbania was off to a bad start in the war, but it was far from over...

OOC: Start posting immediately and please post a datalink letter asking to join the war first. Thanks.

OOC: Just to tell you, but having a military of 1.226 billion is ludicrous in every detail. How exactly is a force of this size expected to be logistically supported? Unless that number also includes logistics personnel (which still would be ludicrously large), then you would nee another 2 billion just to keep moving forward. Communications and leadership would be a nightmare even with modern technology because coordinating such an army would be the metaphoric equivalent of trying to get a room full of 300+ people to listen to you while having lost your voice. The sheer amount of supplies and transport equipment necessary to even move this army 5 kilometers is mind boggling.

I'm curious though, how exactly do you intend to run a country if YOUR ENTIRE POPULATION IS IN THE MILITARY? That means that every single man, woman, and child of every age in your nation is up in arms. This would mean that your soldiers have next to no training, making them even harder to coordinate and use effectively in battle. Also, how precisely do you intend to use infants and the elderly in the military? Good luck trying to invade a nation when half if not more of your army has barely gone through grade school or are too old to even remember their first name. Believe me when I say that I had a good chuckle imagining senile seniors trying to storm a bunker while under fire. Going back to logistics, how exactly does your army obtain food and manufacture new arms and equipment if you have no civilians?

By the way, I like how you planned ahead with your operation's name. I can imagine your army will be "F***** Up Beyond All Recognition" fairly soon.

OOC:
1. How the hell do you support a nation if all of it is in the military, babies, children, women and all?
2. How the hell do you support a military of 1.226 billion?

Please advise, good sir.

OOC: I think the insinuation that it's ludicrous for women to be in the armed forces is a tad outdated. ;)

Generic phrase, don't judge me by it. :P

((OOC: I don't think any country in NS could hold a military of over a billion.

Actually, I'm pretty damn sure (100%) that none could.))

OCC: The largest nation in NS is something like 14 billion, so 1.2 billion is something like 8% of that, which is sustainable temporarily so long as not all members are of pure military occupation.
