Earth 2425
"Where only the limits of your lightspeed engine can stop you!"

What is Earth 2425?

Earth 2425 is a offsite (Non-Jolt) roleplaying forums that is based around the roleplay of many star systems in the year 2425. Each player, when they register, will create a star system and in it they can have as many terrestrial planets as they wish, or they must just want one and a bunch of rocks and gas gaints!

Players will engage in diplomacy, war, trade, and etc. with one another, prehaps creating intergalactic alliances or wars! Your choices are endless(unless of course you hit the edge of space? If there is a edge?)

Players will also be able to create their own races, if it be a methane sucking race or a weak but highly smart race! Your ideas can never be wrong.

Where is Earth 2425?

http://z8.invisionfree.com/Earth_2425/index.php?http://s8.invisionfree.com/Earth_2425/

Will there be a active community?

There sure will be! If you join, we will ask that you remain active for at least every other day. Our goal at Earth 2425 is to great a good sized group of people who are friendly with each other and are active, creating a enjoyable roleplaying experience.

When can I join?

You can join right now if you wish! The forums have just been finished and people are already roleplaying! So come on over.

Great! I'll check into it.

I hope you do and I hope to see a good turn out on the forums, as in past history it seems that roleplaying forums have been lacking quite a bit. I will try my best to make sure this one doesn't follow the same road!

OOC: spam... if your going to post stuff like this put in general chat, and even there you might get some negative comments. despite this im interested and i cant blame you trying to get members from a role playing community.

OOC: I don't see how this is spam? I've posted theards to offsite roleplaying forums and I have seen others and people I know have as well. This is a roleplaying section and is to help roleplay, if I'm not mistaken?

It's not as I am posting on the behalf of <Blank company>. However, I thank you for your interest in this.

Hmmm.... i joined this forum and it is fun but im not going to lie guys, the constant "bump" and "boost" that takes up two pages is going to deter people away from this thread. they are going to take one look and say, "oh, a thread build on nothing but bumps, must be worthless since no one cares enough to post something cool"

What i would recommend is go back and edit some of your bumps and put instead, examples from people playing to show how fun it is.

for example, he is a quick summary of my futuristic people:

Species: Human (Demarchist)

Quick summary:
The Demarchists are a faction of humanity who have a political system of democratic anarchy, or Demarchy. The Demarchy functions by means of a neural implant that constantly seeks the user's opinion on aspects of Demarchist life. This constant prompting eventually fades away into the user's neural background, much like the ticking of a clock might fade away into background noise for most people. The voting process is run by "Polling Cores" in Demarchist cities and space stations. Each core is tasked with collecting and processing votes, and also determining whether or not the elected decision was the best one in previous elections (voters who continually make "good" decisions are rewarded by having their vote count for more than one standard vote). The Demarchists (particularly the Yellowstone Demarchy) also has expertise in nanotechnology, life-extension, and biological alterations, among other things. They also utilise a sophisticated information network known as abstraction. Abstraction was used to simulate environments and co-ordinate servitors and other robots.

just ask your more interesting users if you can post some of their creative stuff, and I guarantee we will get a bigger group going. you can thank me later.

but really people this is a lot of fun, check it out.

On behalf of the Avarian Shogunate, I hereby bump this thread.

In case it interests you, you don't have to be human. Here's an excerpt from my factbook.

Biology

http://img9.imageshack.us/img9/8521/avarianj.th.gif

(This is roughly what I imagined the Avarians to look like, the coloring is off in the picture)

Height: Avarian males stand at about 6' 6", including their feathered crest. Females stand at 6' 4".

Weight: Though taller than the average human, they have many adaptations to decrease their weight to ease flying. Males average about 40 pounds, and females average about 37.

Wingspan: The typical wingspan of an adult Avarian measures 12-15 feet, with males slightly larger than females.

Coloring: The natural coloring of Avarians is a dampened blue plumage, with a grey back and wings. There is no discernable difference

Speech: Avarians are unable to create an songs or other noises beyond clacking noises they create with their beak, as they have no vocal chords.

Diet: Avarians are completely carnivorous, and generally eat smaller creatures such as rodents and fish.

Respiration: Avarians are an oxygen breathing species, and have an extremely effective respiration system. They have a 90% use of oxygen they intake, and can survive in atmospheres with as low as 3% oxygen.

Brain: The brain of Avarians is not merely located in the skull, but also extends farther down along the spinal cord, increasing their reflexes by an infinitesimal amount.

Vision: Avarians have excellent clarity of vision, a trait left over from the days when they would soar over the land in search of food. Their eyes have excellent depth perception and are located near the front of the head.

Hearing: Avarian hearing has a narrow band of hertz they can hear, most of which are low frequency. However, through use of modern implants, this range and the acuity with which they intake sound, has greatly increased into the higher frequencies.

Reproduction: Avarians take part in sexual reproduction, and take part in a mating season in the early spring of their planet. Avarians don't mate for life, and the father takes no part in raising their young. Being a carnivorous species, the young must be taught not to hunt other youngsters or other Avarians. Young Avarians are very independent, being fully independent after 4 Earth years.

Lifespan: Avarians have an average lifespan of 40 Earth years, with no noticable difference between male and female.

Another excerpt, this one coming from one of my favorite handheld weapons. And as this proves, you don't have to be a physics major, and barely have to conform to physics at all.

Name: Avian Handheld Magnetic Field Generator
Developer: Avarian Imperial Labs
Service: Avarian Imperial Marines
Type: Unclassed

Length: 3.824 feet
Weight: 11.492lb

Magazine Size: No magazine
Round Type: No round
Range: Limited by information. Typically LOS, but slightly farther

The AHMFG began largely as a civilian tool to extract and move metallic ores, and to aid in the movement of extremely large metal sheets into position. The military saw another use for it. The magnetic fields could be used to neutralize and destroy enemy vehicles, disrupt some computer systems, and aid in docking strikecraft.

The AHMFG is an unusual weapon and tool. Instead of firing a slug, energy, or other projectile, the AHMFG creates a controlled disturbance in the 14th dimension through use of an electromagnet. While most magnets create the disturbance around themselves, the AHMFG computer calculates and creates a wormhole in the 14th dimension, transferring the disturbance to the chosen location. There, the magnetic field generated functions as it would have where the magnet is, and by moving the barrel of the rifle, the magnetic field can be moved, the contents along with it.

Unfortunately due to the high energy output required of the weapon, an AHMFG can only be used for 30 seconds of magnetic field creation before requiring new hydrogen fuel cells.

Another bump, this one being an excerpt from one of the roleplays that is in the process of moving to a joinable state. I took the liberty of adding correct grammar and editing misspellings.

Yellowstone's Razor, 1 day away from reaching Delta Pavonis

Calvian awoke noticing things that where very wrong. He was no longer in his sleep casket. He was in the maintenance halls. He had a sharp pain in his head. He was lying on a steel table. He was wearing standard combat armor. He could hear gunshots and large tearing noises in the ship. The lights where flickering... they never flickered. There was a red glow shining beneath the door. There was a strange smell... smoky but sweet, the smell of burnt flesh. There was black slush on the floor... those where his implants. Calvian suddenly felt a feeling of being very alone, he had no contact with anyone. He would have to speak vocally to get help.

Calvian tried to yell but his mouth was dry, and pain struck him with every movement he made. Gunshots fired. Loud gunshots, followed by a metallic screeching. Voices could be heard.
"Malcolm check if the captain is awake, the rest of you, keep a perimeter and watch the vents, I repeat, watch the vents". The door was kicked open, followed by Malcolm, his cousin, Calvian did not even know he was part of the crew.
"Calvian, good to see you alive" His voice was shaking and his skin pale. "Look... something attacked the ship, we still don't know what the hell it was." He gave Calvian some water from his pack
"What where you shooting at? Is what ever attacked the ship on board?" Calvian said
"No sir, it's... our men, or at least what's left of them."
"What! What the hell is going on?!?" Calvian roared
"Sir... well... Calvian... I'm sure you noticed your implants are gone?" Malcolm removed his helmet to show a pen sized red dot in his temple "Something, probably a virus of some sort, is... controlling all nanotechnology in the ship. About 70% of the crew was infected... now the Implants in their brain control them. Sir, they don't die. the ship is bringing them to the quickmatter rooms and is filling them with it, it has given them prosthetic weapons... Swords, guns built into their hands... In a way they have become, zombies sir."
"Zombies?!"
"in some ways yes... they are more like, reanimated. Their minds are dead but their bodies are not. they ca-"
"Can we kill them?"
"well, i was about to say... you can shoot them in the head and it destroys the nano-technology possessing them"
"In the head? How stereotypical... and we are in the maintenance halls because..?"
"Because the ship kills people in the movable rooms." The lights flickered. That metallic screeching could be heard roaring through the hallway.
"Is that them?" asked Calvian.
"The screeching? Well, its one of them. We have been having trouble killing this one with metal claws who keeps dragging them along the walls, I think he is trying to hit wires so he can cut the power in this area, but as long as we-" the lights went out. Malcom manged to get out an "Oh shi-" before gunshots went off, lighting up the hallway. In a brief flash Calvian saw a hunched figure, flesh ripped from its right arm and thin black wires and flakes of metal where blood flowed out. Large spikes and metal bits grew from the left side of its head, and a large breathing apparatus was where his mouth should be. It had four eyes. two of the original ones twitched and shuttered, while the other two, robotic and alien, came out from its cheek. Long claws replaced hands, and a large tube ran down its back. The room was dark again, save for the red glow that continued to pour though the hallway.
"Dan you there? Dan? Is anyone in the squad there? Shit." Malcolm began shaking with fear. Calvian could see blood begin to crawl through the hallway door. Malcolm Turned on his flashlight for his DK11, and motioned for Calvian to move to him. He lifted up a floor panel and said, "Come on Calvian, lets get in the repair tunnels before that thing gets back" Before stepping in Calvian looked back at the red glowing hallway. From this new angle, he could see the source of the glow. it was the safety lights that lined the floor. The hallway was flooded with a foot of blood.

Yellowstone's Razor, Repair tunnels

It had been a Day since Calvian and Malcolm crawled into the repair tunnels, which where impossible to navigate without implants. Calvian had found a laser welder, maybe not the best defense against possessed mutant robot zombies, but it made him feel safer none the less. At this point they had to be in the system, but where they would go from here was unknown. He asked Malcolm.
"we actually mapped the system before the attack" he said "there was ONE measly planet, that looked like a desert world. It had Strong radio wave pouring fourth from it, so we made a course for us to reach the planet in the shortest amount of time..." he paused. something was bothering him. "But... During the attack... well, the conjoiner drives blew up"'
"oh shit..."
"it ate half the ship... slowing us down a lot but we where still heading strait towards the planet"
"OK, so we are flying towards a planet, that we can at this point safely assume is hostile, and we are going to crash into it?!"
"well... the atmospheric entry will slow us down considerably and some of the ship should hold, so there is a chance we may survive"
"do you know which part of the ship we are in?"
"I say, well, best guess is that we are near the edge of the right hull"
"well lets get as far away from the hull as possible, atmospheric entry will rip it off"
"I was thinking the same, lets move"

Well this game is called Earth 2425 right? Well wonder what has become of Terra and by extension, the Sol System? Well, Earth is a wasteland after an attack by an unknown alien civilization, but the rest of the system is doing just fine.

Territory:
The Jovian Combine is centered in the Sol System. The Sol System has several major and minor population centers, though most worlds, even if only graced by a depot or mining station, have some semblance of civilization.

The Galilean Moons:
Europa (Capital) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v120/Ravenart/TerraformedEuropacrop.jpg): 2.2bn
Io: 1.6bn
Ganymede: 1.4bn
Callisto: 1.3bn

The Galilean Moons hold the majority of economic and political power in post-earth Sol. The Capital is indeed, located on the moon of Europa. 6.5 Billion Individuals are spread across the moons, with the majority located on Europa itself.

Europa is the political seat of the Combine as well as the seat of Solar Banking and Commerce, Io, Ganymede and Callisto, although unterraformed worlds are relatively ecumenopolis's - covered entirely in urban sprawl, whose atmospheres are maintained by force shields, thus making such projects unnecessary.

The Galilean Moons, with the status they enjoy are protected by the extremely advanced and deadly Jovian Defense Grid, and are, as such, considered unassailable.

The Capital and main bureaucratic centers are located on Europe, Primarily centered in Ascension City.

Mars:
Mars (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v120/Ravenart/TerraformedMarsGlobeRealisticcroppe.jpg): 2bn
(Deimos and Phobos are both homes to defense, mining and resupply stations)

Mars is the second most populated world in Sol. As a terraformed world it is both verdant and despite large urban and industrial growth over the past years, largely untouched. It is sometimes, although rarely, referred to the Second Earth.

Mars is the current home of ship building and is a major industrial center. Protected by the expansive Martian Defense Grid, Mars is considered second to the Galilean Moons in its security. The Expansive Martian shipyards in low orbit provide an amazing vista during the Martian Night.

Luna:
Luna (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v120/Ravenart/croppedlunaterra.jpg): 1bn

Luna is a terraformed world and was formerly a densely populated world, due to its proximity to Earth. Following the devastation of Luna during the Siege of Earth, its biosphere was repaired and the moon was slowly repopulated - although largely by scientific interests.

Although now the third most populated world in Sol, its constant companion - the embroiled Earth, has made it both the home of scientific progress - although a destination to avoid for those who do not wish to live in constant reminder of the past.

Luna also provides a large amount of usable energy reserves, ironically pulled from Earth itself - who's constant storms and outbursts provide a constant link to relatively safe subspace energy.

Saturn:
Titan: 250m
Rhea: 300m

Titan and Rhea were populated in the Combines first colonization project independent of reconstruction. The two moons of Saturn have proved to be a draw for resourcing interests and the Solar Defense Forces.

The Large system of military installations and resupply bases in orbit of the two have given it a large amount of security compared to the other outlying worlds in the Solar System, who are sometimes plagued by pirates.

Titan and Rhea are currently experiencing a large amount of population growth and it is likely corporate interests in the region will soon lobby the government for an arguable overdue terraforming project.

Neptune:
Triton: 250m

Triton was primarily a world seeded for political gain, although the resource returns soon made the project more than worth it. Triton Industries currently maintains a large refining operation on the world and has since become one of the largest corporations in Sol.

Triton, like Rhea and Titan is experiencing a large growth in population, and it too may become the target of a terraforming project in the near future.

Uranus:
Oberon: 200m

Oberon serves as the last major resourcing operation in outlying Sol. Oberon is the only world in Sol which was colonized primarily by civilian interests without Corporate or Government mandate.

Oberon therefore enjoys alot of civil "liberties" not found in the core worlds, and although regulated by Combine Law, a lot of things deemed too "untasteful" can often be found on the planet, as long as you can find a loophole in the law to allow it.

Pluto:
Charon: 150m

Charon is the last true stronghold of Humanity before large stellar bodies give way to the Oort Cloud and other phenomena. Charon's colony is primarily a military endeavor, although a large civilian population has grown up around it.

Charon will be the staging point for all exploration missions, if the belief the FTL inhibiting field that bathes Sol, is indeed waning.

Sol at Large:
It is estimated that over 100 million individuals either populate orbital or other stations, as well as low grade mining or resupply bases on the majority of solar bodies not mentioned - it is worth mentioning that millions too inhabit the expansive Kuiper Belt mining community.
