The Grand Duchy of Farenz

Farenz was founded on May 15, 2019 when a group of Americans, fed up with the declining economic, political, military, and educational conditions, raised enough money to purchase the Kamchatka Peninsula and declared it an independent country. Neither Svertlov nor America made any resistance. The constitution was ratified on June 24, 2019. On July 1, 2020, the first Grand Duke, Austin I, took office. Nothing of particular significance happened between then and December 5, 2064 when Austin I retired and Austin II was elected and took office. He still holds office. What little that did happen will be discussed at another time.

The government is officially a Constitutional Elective Monarchy. Farenz's UN category is "Democratic Socialists". The long form official name is "The Grand Duchy of Farenz", although it is more commonly referred to as "Farenz", "DFZ", or "GDF". The country code is DFZ 249.
The Executive Branch consists of the Grand Duke or Duchess who is elected until he or she chooses to retire or dies, the Second Duke/Duchess who advises the Grand Duke and is elected every 5 years, and the Advisor Council who is chosen by the Grand Duke with a majority positive vote in the Grand Assembly. The Grand Duke can be ejected from office by a 3/4 vote of no confidence in the Grand Assembly.
The legislative branch is made up of a tricameral congress, known as the Grand Assembly. The upper house, The Council of Voices represents based on population and sector. Each "Speaker" represents 5,000,000 people, although sectors with less population are entitled to one Speaker. The middle house, The Council of Residence, represents with 5 speakers per sector, including Sector C. The lower house, The Council of Heritage, represents with percentage of the population with certain ethnicity. There are 100 Speakers, with each one representing 1% of the population.
The judicial branch is made up of the High Court which has 15 justices and the lower courts. The Grand Justice leads the High Court with 7 Speaker Justices at each side of him or her. The Grand Justice only votes to break a tie.
There are five major political parties. The one currently in power is the Technological Advancement Party (TA). The other parties are the Clean Land Party (CL), the Conservative Trade Party (CT), the Land Expansion Party (LE), and the Neutral People's Party (NP).

The capital city is Farenz City (Плата за проезд Большой и старинный город). It is located on the southern tip of the Kamchatka peninsula. The country is divided into Sectors, currently there are 11. There are Sectors 1-10, and then there is Sector C which contains the capital. Farenz is Bordered by Svertlov, Nuveria, Azxdcvg, Asiom, and Skaugra. Its natural resources include Gold, Mica, Iron Pyrite, Coal, Natural Gas, Timber, Fresh Water, Sea Food, and Sea Salt. The country is fairly cool and moist. There is significant volcanic activity on the Kamchatka Peninsula.
Farenz has no organized military. Instead, high school students take a mandatory course in Basic Combat Training. Once they graduate, they are given FZ-20 Laser Repeater Pistols. They may choose to go to college to become officers in the direct employ of the Grand Duke. If a war starts, citizens will be drafted.

The economy is a free market. Various items including tobacco, alcohol, drugs, and arms are restricted is some way. The economy revolves around the export of natural gas, coal, and sea food. The currency is the Pax. Its currency code is FZP. Most energy is green with about 50% of it being geothermal. The GDP per person is about $29,463.
The national Income Tax rate is 37%. The current Grand Duke is Austin II. The Second Duke is Alexander Woodson. The official languages are English and Russian. The primary religion is Christianity, although it is not official. The national animal is the dove. The national sport is ice hockey.
