Maiden Voyage of the Azure (Char RP; OOC interest)

Notice my profile of the ship. As anyone who has RPed with me before knows, I sort of expect roughly that level of writing (or at least literacy...) from people, though obviously not all (or any) posts have to be that long.

To christen (i.e., give me something to do with) my new line of ocean liners (http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/795/cruise.png), I figured the best thing to do would be to RP the first ship off the assembly line's maiden voyage. The RP will be centered around a voyage beginning in Hafenstadt, Leistung and stopping in a number of ports of call (in other words, I need people to step forward with said ports of call) in various nations, where various...things would happen. So yes, it's open-ended, and no, I don't have every single detail.

In typical NS fashion, something is going to go horribly wrong (duh), because let's face it--on NS, when you board an ocean liner, you're taking your life in your hands.

If anyone's interested, we need ports of call, as well as, of course, passengers. If you'd like to step forward as a passenger, the generic form thingy is below.

Profile

The LSS Azure (http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/795/cruise.png)and her sister ships are the most luxurious ocean liners ever to come out of the shipyards of Hafenstadt, and number among the most luxurious liners ever built. Measuring three hundred fifty meters in length and weighing in at near one hundred fifty thousand gross tons, the Azure is the longest, tallest, widest, and heaviest ocean liner currently operated by Orion Lines. However, superlatives alone cannot describe the grandeur of the Azure, and the once in a lifetime experience of taking a voyage, whether across the world, or across the sea, on the LSS Azure. With a ratio of one crew member per couple and Orion’s famed golden service record, passengers can expect to be treated as royalty would, and with spacious rooms and sweeping golden staircases, they certainly would not be far off.

With amenities ranging from an IMAX theater, a luxurious health resort and spa, a nautical museum, eleven restaurants (including two pubs), a casino, nightclub, library, four pools, and a theater which runs everything from opera to Shakespeare to modern comedy routines, there’s something for everyone on the Azure. There are upwards of six thousand pieces of art aboard the Azure, in addition to flora from the far reaches of the globe and somewhere in the order of ten thousand volumes in the ship’s library.

For older passengers, the King Herman Cigar Lounge, located near the ship’s bow, presents a unique “adults-only” experience, while younger guests can experience the Play Zone for their own brand of age-based fun. The Azure’s crew hails from some one hundred different nations, and even if one does not speak German, the crewmembers that interact with the passengers are all fluent in English, as well as German and French. Members of the staff working in restaurants can be expected to be experts in the fields of wines and food, with chefs plucked from the finest restaurants in the world and placed in the kitchens of the Azure. Dancers can be expected to be world class, and the varied performers are often some of best (and best-known) in the world.

Even the crew behind the scenes is expected to be top notch—the Azure’s veteran captain served at the helm of Bundesmarine vessels for some twenty years, and the ship’s First Officer recently retired from his post as captain of eccentric billionaire Hans Gluten’s own personal yacht to take up his post aboard the Azure. Orion Lines prides itself on quality, and everyone, from the engineers to the oilers to captain, is a leader in their field. The ship’s medical staff, led by the esteemed Doctor Rosen of Leistung, consists of no less than twenty fully licensed physicians, in addition to a stocked pharmacy and pharmacy staff.

Technical and Safety

The Azure is powered by four sixteen-cylinder diesel engines and two gas turbines in a CODAG layout. Propulsion is provided by four propellers in independently rotating pods, removing the need for a rudder entirely. These pods also contain one electrical motor each, powered by electrical generators near the ship’s stern (which in turn are powered by the diesel engines and gas turbines), and the entire layout is completely soundproofed and laid out to minimize vibrations. Nearer to the bow, the Azure has six thrusters (three on port, three on starboard) which facilitate easy docking and can also be used to provide extra steering power under duress. With all propulsion systems accounted for, the Azure can reach speeds of thirty-two knots, far above those normally reached by cruise ships—this is one of the crowning features of the ocean liner.

Four stabilizers serve to prevent ninety percent of rocking on the high seas, and the captain can use the Azure’s advanced propulsion systems to keep the ship at a fixed location without the use of anchors, which can be dangerous in rough weather (though the Azure does have three anchors). A joystick on the bridge controls the vessel’s course, and the bridge comes complete with flatscreen plasma displays to show maneuvering, radar, navigation, weather, and a variety of other vital ship functions.

The Azure also comes with two foghorns which can be heard at five miles away and a single whistle which sounds a traditional deep bass A note (heard at up to ten miles). The vessel is also equipped with an emergency position-indicating radio beacon (EPIRB), and for passive safety, the ship’s hull is composed of reinforced steel, able to withstand hurricane-force winds and seas. Watertight doors and compartments are laid out in transverse subdivisions and close to protect against spreading fires, or, in a worst-case scenario, flooding (the ship is able to remain afloat with seven of its fifteen compartments completely flooded, or all fifteen completely flooded). However, advanced navigation and communications equipment makes collision nearly impossible, and the hull is designed to withstand storms.

C6F12O, or Novec 1230 is used as a fire suppressant in the engine rooms and non-passenger areas as a last-resort defense against fires, though it should be noted that Novec 1230 is dangerous to humans if the rooms are not first evacuated. Inergen is used as a suppressant in passenger areas, which, while still dangerous, is unlikely to be fatal. It is only to be used in the case of emergency, when the fire cannot be fought using conventional means for whatever reason.

Accommodations

The Azure is not a classed vessel, but accommodations are divided into three rooming zones based on price alone. At the top tier of the rooming chart is the two fore penthouses, both complete with whirlpool tubs, walk-in closets, bars, a balcony and master bedroom, and access to the glass elevator on the starboard side of the ship. Passengers rooming in either of the two penthouses can expect butler service (on-call and available twenty-four hours a day). Each penthouse is a full two stories tall and totals roughly two thousand square feet, not counting the private sun terrace and lounge for the two penthouses.

Below the penthouses in luxury are the Royal Suites (six in total), each totaling one thousand square feet and located near the stern of the ship. Passengers here will still experience the luxury of their own personal butler and the service of the full concierge staff, but at a lower price and a slightly smaller, but still grand room. Below the Royal Suites are the Junior Suites measuring in at four hundred square feet each, and below that are the standard rooms (anything but standard). Eighty percent of these rooms have an ocean view, and of those, all have a balcony; whether sheltered or glassed. Internal rooms are slightly larger than ocean view rooms, and all standard rooms come with twenty-four hour room service, a king-size bed, and roughly two hundred ten square feet of living space.

Always nice to see someone be brutally honest :D

One thing though--are we going to be sailing into a warzone over there? And where is East/North Glacia region-wise (not necessarily NS region, I'm asking where the ship should be pointed)?
East Glacia
15-03-2009, 05:26
What do you mean region wise?

And not really, the navy's are really weak, plus they adhere to severely strict rules of engagement (atleast between themselves) so you'd be safe. Plus North Glacia is pretty safe. But come now, you're going to pass up my beautiful country just for fear of being 'shot at', pshhh, panzy. :-p

I can give you a map, and if you want a climate base the weather is a lot like Serbia.

For example, are you located "somewhere," rather than on a fixed point on the RL globe? Not that it really matters, since in NS, ships teleport rather than sail.

Just making sure I'm not sending my passengers into downtown Baghdad or anything.

Lol, um... I guess I'm pretty much located 'somewhere.' So teleport away!

Bio:
Like all Tanaaran Citizens, Star has completed over five thousand basic hours of Federal Service. Her primary engagement was been performing and teaching music. Though as most have, she has been through and passed the equivalent of military basic training. Star could never quite grasp military discipline and never sought to undertake additional training. She is fully qualified to carry her personal weapons, making sure to keep up the required range time. She finds it soothing she says. Though she mostly keeps her family's heirloom dueling pistols in her luggage.

Her family was one of the oldest and wealthiest in the nation, claiming many influential and illustrious Citizens among the ancestors. Now though the family is down to just Star. The vast extended Family had been taking their annual cruise off the north shore of Imitora when the Fall occured, and Star was the sole survivor. She has come to terms with the tragedy, and being alone in the world, but it took a great toll on her delicate soul. Her manager has decided that she needs to get out and spend some time just 'having fun'. Something that is rare for her, having spent all her life perfecting her musical craft.

Though, of course, her Fazioli grand piano and Stradivarius violin will be with her. As will her pair of pure white Borzois.

She is traveling with her long time accompaniest and ladies companion, Bria LaDare, who while sweet, is rather much a nonentity next to the dramatically attractive and artistically tempered Star.

And any one can look up the quality of my RPing...

I'm not interested in having a passenger aboard. However, Port Alex is certainly a port full of culture plus its our industrial center of the nation so you can simply imagine the possibilities. I would be more than happy to have some of my natives interact with you throughout your stay in Port Alex and I hope that Hierphil can add a new aspect of culture to your voyage.

Ports

Port Sayenia
main attractions: Red Banner Fleet HQ, Sayenia Naval Air Station (13th CAW), Red Star Naval Development Center, Sayenia Marine Research Station (aquarium)
Culture: Mitgarian
language: Russian/ Ruso-Slavic Dutch
background: Sayenia was a small fishing village for many years before it became home to the Red Banner Fleet in 1956. From there, it sprang into a modern, technological metropolis, featuring an extensive elevated mag-lev train system. It is mainly a military town, with over 2/3 of the population working either in the military or in the many contractor companies housed in Sayenia. Most civilian contractors work with Red Star-the industrial conglomorate itself is the largest military contractor in the country. Most if not all advanced and new ships are designed and constructed in Sayenia.

Nord Cilla
main attractions: Ruins of Nord Cilla (Norse settlement) Fortress of Sergei the Great (ruins), Northern Palace (czarist-art museum), High Guard Fleet Command, Commonwealth State Observatory
Background: Nord Cilla is arguably the oldest city in the nation; itself founded as a settlement by the original Norse explorers who settled the nation now known as FUS. For years, the Mitgarian crown held Cilla as it's seat of power. This was until 1543 during the failed Grom Putsch, when the crown moved inland to Meridian. Home to the High Guard Fleet, Cilla is still, for the most part, a quiet fishing town, with fishing the main mode of commerce.
Hierphil

Hierphil is located on the northern border of the mediterranean (SP). A map can be found in my factbook (link in my signature. Port Alex is in the Southern Province).

On the water side of the city, there are various boats and tankers from nations all over the world. Its unique position in our nation and on the sea makes it ideal for trade. Shops of all kinds and from all nations can be found on the main street. Naturally the diversity is infinite. Further inland, yet still in the city, is a major industrial neighborhood full of factories, office buildings, skyscrapers, and other buisness oriented buildings. This hardly fits in with the remainder of Hierphil but for the sake of this voyage, it offers more crime opportunity than the relatively peaceful remainder of the nation. I know that my definition is vague, but I haven't a very definite vision of the city so you're welcome to develop on it. Any other information on the city can be found on my factbook under Southern Province.

East Glacia, Port Danzfürth
Highest percentage of German-descendents (64% descent, 46% speak German)
Sixth largest port in East Glacia. There is a steep cliff wall that surrounds the harbor, except the center which is exactly on sea-level. The cliff wall is ringed with two Anti-Shipping Stations on each side, with additional MG nests. The culture is exceedingly German, especially around the port. If you want the English speakers they live farther inland and mostly in outlying suburbs. There's several wine storing and distributions houses, owners of which would be more than willing to allow tasting and purchase of. They love the publicity.

North Glacia, Port le Rezqe (lay Res-keh)
Port le Rezqe is the most beautiful port in the Independent Territory of North Glacia. There's a rich diversity of people, thousands of school children roam the streets near the port purchasing from the random street vendors around there. There's also a fine cheese parlor that is close to the ocean. To the side of the port is a beautiful beech, maintained by the government and it only costs a dollar (Actually 1 Miscellaneous Token) for each entry. This beach also encompasses a picnic area where you may purchase food from the private part of the economy. You will also notice that money is slightly looked down upon, and see a lot of bartering.

North Glacia, Port of Light
Port of Light is a largest port in North Glacia, and is the buildings site of en Moco A's ships, and also is home of en Moco A's constant exportation of goods. About five nautical miles outside the port is a group of three oil rigging sites that are constantly having oil shipped to port. Also, there's a ring of three light houses, one to the west, one to the east, and another one that is right in the middle of the tower. Each on of them is forty stories high.

If you need anymore just ask.

As for a port of call, the historicly rich, and stunningly pretty port city of Höfn.

Also, I don't know if you can tell by the photos, however, there may be some strife between Mr. and Mrs James, and heavily involving their adoptive son. Should Mr. James decided to kick them out of the penthouse, in the middle of the cruise, there would be an extra room available for them, or what would happen? Also, does the ship have a helicopter pad? Mr. James will most likely want to be speaking to his divorce lawyer too during the trip, that is if he finds out.
Fatatatutti
15-03-2009, 06:54
Your ship is welcome to call at Fatatatutti. We're in the mid-Pacific, somewhere south of the equator. Our main port (for tourists, anyway) is on the north coast and it's just called Fatatatutti.

We're a tropical paradise - think Tahiti, but the size of Australia. Our culture is basically a beach-bum culture. Anybody who comes ashore is likely to be adopted by the locals and it will be hard to leave. We have all the modern amenities (circa 1965) but we're a simple people and we don't try to trap tourists - so your more finicky passengers might not want to spend the night ashore.

The primary language is English but we have refugees from all over the world, so your passengers might be able to find somebody who speaks their language - if they know where to look.

If you can make it, National Luau Week starts on April 10 and continues until Junish. At other times of the year, the luaus start Friday after work (say noon) and end by Wednesday or so.

Gender: Female
Nationality: Fells Point Citizen
Occupation: Marine Force Reconnaissance Operator
Family: Elizabeth Clarke, Mother
Picture: Alexa Clarke (http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/halofanon/images/f/f3/PFC_Clarke.jpg)

The byproduct of a strict military upbringing, Clarke has spent nearly her entire life living by Marine standards. Born into a military family, her mother and father both active duty personnel, Clarke had a strong exposure to the military from the beginning. During her childhood, the young female learned to shoot at age eight, and was enrolled in the Marine Academy at age nine, continuing her education through graduation.

During a counterterrorism operation in northern Fells Point, Alexa’s father Richard Clarke was killed in action when an improvised explosive device destroyed the Captains HMMWV during a routine patrol. At age thirteen, she was confronted with the death of a man she barley knew, as his constant deployments had crushed any hope of a father-daughter relationship between the two.

During her time at the Marine Academy, her instructors noted Clarke’s tenacity, determination, and leadership skills. Following graduation from the Academy, Clarke bypassed Officers Candidate School for an opportunity to join the elite ranks of Marine Force Reconnaissance as a special forces operator, participating in ground operations appealing to her more in lieu of the months of training and command position of being an officer. Her proficiency with firearms exceeded the average accuracy ratings, earning Clarke a position as Designated Marksman in her Marine Special Operations team Alpha Four.

As a commando, Clarke proved extremely reliable and capable under combat conditions, also picking up battlefield medicine over her years in the Marines. Despite holding the marksman qualifications to become a scout sniper, Clarke has chosen to keep the current role she holds in Alpha Four, stating that she “enjoyed the rush of kicking in doors and driving vehicles”.

Currently Clarke is on "leave", and has acquired a cruise pass for the maiden voyage of LSS Azure.

Parilisa’s Ambassador to the WA and chief of diplomacy with ODECON, Hirsch is an incredible woman. Her courage and daring lead to her being highly commended during the Parilisan Revolution, and she has honorary membership of several organisations, most notably the League of Parilisan Feminists and the Association for Environmental Protection. Hirsch was the first person in Parilisa to receive a divorce after its legalisation in 2005, and the first woman to be enrolled in a University in the same year. Hirsch was not active in Government during the first year after the revolution, preferring instead to spend her time studying. However, in 2007 Klein asked her to take up a position as Ambassador to a foreign nation, and her career has now lead her to higher levels.

Hirsch sees this voyage as an opportunity to meet new people and to explore the cultures and traditions of many places of the world she would not normally have the chance to visit. In addition to this she hoes to raise awareness of Parilisa’s sea faring culture, often forgotten even by the proudest of Parilisans.

Port Name: Exengrad
Region: The Baltic
Although heavily industrial, Exengrad has a vibrant culture and a typical Parilisan nightlife. Infamous as a haunt of sailors on leave, the city has recently tried to recreate its image as one of culture and sophistication through the building of tourist attractions such as museums, theatres and a concert hall. These have gone a long ay towards renovating the city and it is now becoming a popular destination for holidaymakers once again.

If you're arriving in Hafenstadt by boat, the surrounding seas are frigid--think the Baltic Sea year-round. We would like to lend a port for your ship to sail to. It's the biggest port in Birkaine, the Ferrograd port.

Well... maybe it's not the most idyllic locale around, but our tugs will help dodging the shipwrecks and stray submarines, along with the ocassional dead whale or cubical jellyfish. On the plus side, free flags are given out, the population is half-nice, air is almost breathable, propaganda towers will make your tourists happy and it offers a magnificent view of the majestic Birkanian Navy (or at least it will do so once the 1st fleet is back from casting aside our hapless enemmies overseas). There's also no trace of pirates around.
http://isiria.files.wordpress.com/2008/12/industrial-pollution.jpg
Notable locales include the Ferrograd Iron Works shipyard, the largest shipyard in the region, the Krasnaya Birkaina steel factory, the Bernzev Industries assembly lines, the OKR chemical plant, the Valentin Gruznov thermoelectrical plant, the RRMB rocket assembly factory and finally the local favorites: the 11 enormous coastal batteries surrounding the city, salvaged from old battleships. Our natural tourist hotspots include the glowing Cherenkov Falls, Getacancersky Valley and Fishbed Falls, made completely of old Fishbed and Frogfoot wrecks.

Several precautions must be taken, and we trust that your ship has a very good air filter. Also, avoid smoking on the deck, for the water is flammable.

Causing nation-spanning disasters such as the Great Storm of Meat or the Second Great Hailstorm of Helicopters (disasters that have been burned into the memories of the already-paranoid Birkanian populance) because of sheer incompetence would have gotten anybody executed for negligence in Birkaine, but not Jessica. Being one of the few people that managed to survive the catastrophic Great Rocket Science Foam Wrestling Championship of 2002, a ritual fight between the graduates of the BRMB academies (actually, the 2002 championship was so devastating that most rocket scientist of Birkaine now study in foreign universities); she has a few privileges and a good lawyer.
As the mastermind (if one could say that) behind the ill-fated SS-N-65 "Shellshock" (later renamed to "Sardine" and then to "Sadface", probably after the expression the military officials had after witnessing the majestic, if accidental mid-air explosion) ballistic missile and the more succesful RT-105 ballistic FAE rocket currently in use by the few ships large enough to handle it; one could say that she has a liking for rockets and high-explosive fuel, something which had horrible results in the efforts to stop the legendary Fourth Great Tide of Used Cars that ravaged the eastern coast, but I digress.
Her personality is cheerful and very inventive (to the dismay of the Birkanian generals), if completely lacking in patience. She doesn't like office jobs, and instead likes to work in the assembly lines supervising the construction of the behemoth missiles herself (which has the mysterious effect of making them fail). She is rival to pretty much everybody in the BRMB.
The Birkanian goverment has more than gladly given her vacations to keep her away from fuel storages and rocket-propelled munitions.

He is a fairly large man, and can settle many fights by just standing up. He is a good friend once he gets to know you, and loves a good drink. He has been awarded leave to take a trip with his wife Laura on their 10th anniversary.

Might I suggest the Takaram city of Rolana as a port. In real life, it is actually Venice, Italy. You needn't worry about piracy, as Takaram actively hunts down any hint of piracy due to the threat it could pose to trade. Rhodes would do just fine with a normal room, but a suite would be preferable.

On another note, understood. The passenger will arrive by air in a routine flight onboard a poorly maintained BirkAir craft. A common room should suffice.

10) Kaiserslautern, Leistung

12) Hafenstadt, Leistung

If you're arriving in Hafenstadt by boat, the surrounding seas are frigid--think the Baltic Sea year-round. The city is a huge harbor and metropolis perched on a series of cliffs which ring the entire island. If anyone needs a reference for the city area itself, think Stockholm (but much, much larger).

EDIT: No, Beatus, there probably wouldn't be an available room, but one of the ship's officers would probably give up their stateroom if asked. Unfortunately there is no helicopter pad either, because of the obvious risks involved.

That's okay, the lawyer can be dropped onto the deck, by rope from a hovering helicopter. What does Mr. James Jr. pay him for, if not for that, right?

Also, a little more on the City of Höfn. Think Roman/Egyptian architecture, along the shore, with more modern, skyscrapers further inland. Think the location, of RL Hoboken. It would also provide a great view of St. Fabian Castle, a centuries old fortification, taking up Manhattan Island, just across the Hudson River, in the Nation of St. Fabian. Very nice place, though travel to St. Fabian would not be available as they are currently closed off from the world at this time, and thus the castle would only be visible from across the river.

the Azure was constructed so soundly that naught but a rogue wave could phase her, and with the latest in navigational equipment, the pack ice which had caused so many Leistungi captain’s sleepless nights at sea was well-documented and well taken care

Tanaara
17-03-2009, 22:24
Oh I have little doubt that that will be one of the more interesting things to happen, given that this is NS.

I can see us having to deal with pirates while a rogue wave bears down upon the ship which has had its bow thrusters damaged due to a collision with a large lump of somehow unobserved pack ice and the medical staff is all tied up by the bio terrorists who have poisoned the lobster dinner... and of course no one is listening to the ten year old asking about the UFO hovering off the port bow. And what about the fate of the passengers in the hijacked 747 that is about to ditch some hundred yards away -because the art theives need some way on to the ship...

I'm also a bit of an action adventure movie junkie

Tanaara
18-03-2009, 00:34
Ah, but that’s just it, they got to the airport where their stolen copter was to be waiting but it never showed. In desperation and really, really wanting all the art on the Azure they saw a just then boarding 747 and realized they could get into the plane via the baggage compartment. One of them was really really good at flight simulators, and there were no snakes being transshipped they decided to stow away.

Little did they realize when they broke into the planes avionics compartment from the baggage hold that they inadvertently damaged critical components and when the flight simulator junkie tried to take over - after inadvertently killing the pilot, KOing the co pilot and leaving him with severe amnesia - he was unable to fly the plane...but the new autopilot had an 'engage emergency landing - water ' configuration choice and he took it.

None of the flight attendants had any knowledge of how to fly the plane anyway, because due to the intensive new regulations since 9/11, none of them had been allowed to bring the flight crew coffee. With the flight crew having to leave the cockpit to get their own coffee, none of them had had the chance to impress the stewardesses with their 'right stuff'...erm flying wise. I can't speak for any other prowess’s...

Besides since none of the thieves looked like Steve McQueen, George Clooney, Paul Neiman, or Charlton Heston, they wouldn't have been able to seduce any of the stews into helping them any way.

But as one of them had an uncanny resemblance to a young Leonardo DiCaprio, every one knew they were going to sink any way

Now if Catawaba had written this it would have been ten times better - he's a real Troper!

He was dishonorably discharged before he even was a full soldier for sneaking rohypnol ("Roofies"), laxatives, and hallucinogens into his Senior Drill Instructor's coffee.

I also have an idea where something goes horridly wrong on the Azure and it's forced to anchor at one of Iron Province's ports, or it goes near GWO waters and has to send a distress signal out. Iron Province, as you know, Leistung, is the biggest producer of GWO weaponry, and there are A LOT of ships. LOTS. Family: Cecily Lockhelm(sister), head of state in an anarchist Confederacy, Jack Bauer Lockhelm(stepbrother), vigilante specialized in kicking fascist terrorists asses, Camilla Tarragón(mother), Spanish revolutionary war hero, Todd Lockhelm, British anarchist press publisher.

Family's most famous quote:

Therefore, as Cecily Lockhelm, or for some Lockhell, head of State, certified "Bad Cop", Commander Shepard and Jack Bauer's sister, it is my duty to inform to King winnkledinkle the III, serene ruler of TPF, Grand Marshall of the Furries, protector of the Furrian Church, Defender of Freedom, destroyer of World, Ruler of Noobs, and Demon of Humanity, that all this furfaggotry is not for real. For it's a fake, and a memetic virus which promotes immaturity, irrationality and which makes me want to chew bubblegum and kick some cliché ass.

Cecily Lockhelm.

Picture: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/8c/Kim_Bauer.jpg

Bio: Aileen is the youngest of the Lockhelm familiy, and by far, the least known of them, for selling used cars and scamming corporate pigs during international business isn't as glorious as being a head of State or as fighting against fascists, stalinists and slavers. Of course, selling used cars tend to develop different skills from those vigilante work acquire, but it is still quite close to the skills of a politician, except in many ways, her skills to persuade and fool far outweigh those of Cecily Lockhelm. Unlike Lockhelm however, Aileen would not be able to use a gun properly even if her life depended on it.

From an OOC post I made in the IC thread and just deleted:

<<...Stay deep...>> The captain of a distant Birkanian submarine said. He was in the middle of hostile Serbian waters, with the sonars scanning for any possible threats... he knew they were still out there, but he and his crew ignored how many submarines the enemy had. Silence was the key as the crew nervously gazed upon the green sonar screens in the almost pitch-black submarine.

The silence was broken when they all heard the cheap ringtone of an old cellphone interpreting The Entertainer inside the living quarters.

<<Did you hear that noise!?>>
<<What is it?!>>
<<The cellphone! It is in the living quarters, hurry up and turn that thing off!>> The officers whispered nervously to each other
<<I can't see a thing! Where are the living quarters!?>>
<<ENEMY TORPEDOES!>> The sonar operator shouted
<<SHH!>> The captain hissed as the crew ran around the living quarters looking for the cellphone. One of the sailors finally grabbed the cellphone. Instead of turning it off, he accidentally answered the call.
<<GET THOSE DECOYS, FAST! WE'RE GONNA GET SUNK!>> the captain shouted.

Miles away, Jessica was listening the sounds of the panicking crew of a submarine with curiosity.
<<Huh. Wrong number, I guess>> She hung up the phone. She still didn't knew if she had left the TV on.

<<OOC: Wow. Freaking Epic! Sorry, but I can't do an IC post at the moment, I gotta leave for Uni class. You really gotta admire Birkaine's epicness.>>

I don't believe so. The Royal Suites certainly are, though.

By the way, the First Officer will be meeting with all the "important" (i.e., penthouse and suite) passengers in their rooms, where I assume most of you either are or will be going to shortly to prepare for the first dinner.

Alright, there is a reason she is on the ship, its not like it's a government run operation strictly to gather intelligence. Also, how the hell is a hobo in a nation other than his own, did he hop a transocean train car or something? Not to mention the fact that on a cruise ship, it is going to be highly difficult to be a stowaway and remain undetected for the weeks that this voyage is most likely going to take.

I'm with J&R - TSS- 15 year old? oh come on now get freaking real.

Oh course I blame it on manga, and their plethora of 14 and 15 year old world leaders, super soldiers and so on.

I cannot resist typing "LOL" after reading that. I will refrain from explaining why for the sake of civility.

Anyway, in Third Spanish States, selling used cars is the equivalent of working in a fast food chain. In fact, in a nation where people are culturally leaned to ignore persuasion regarding what they purchase, anyone could sell anything by simply having it cheaper and better, or by being the nearest person around selling such thing.

I prefer introducing characters by writing their actions during a RP rather than through descriptions for many reasons. Accuracy and drastically lower propensity to write superlatives being the most important of them.

Regardless... let this go on now without further tangential discussions.

15 years old is not child labor if the laws of the country have majority earlier. I don't know if Third Spanish States (dude, you have a horrible acronym :p) has an AoM that low, but if he does, as mine does, then it is perfectly legal. And it is more than possible for a 15-year-old to have the skills, maturity, and life experience of an 18-year-old, especially when their respective countries have them each be adults, and have a society and educational system geared for it.

Captain

Alexa
Bria
Tazuren

Empty space ( noted that Elsbeth said that the seat next to her was empty )

Empty space?
Jimmy Janes's wife and adoptive son (the two teens ) - as part of the party in the other penthouse they are probably directly at the Captains left

so a minimum of 2 empty spaces to a maximum of 10?

They've already put effort into the thread by describing their port of call and offering you the opportunity to stop there. You're preventing their further participation in the thread if you've already decided not to stop there.

If all you wanted was a list of fictitious ports that would never be reached, you could have just made them up.

As I actually said in my first OOC post, I didn't know where the RP was going to go, and I was really quite vague about the whole thing.

As I actually said in my first OOC post, I didn't know where the RP was going to go, and I was really quite vague about the whole thing.
You weren't vague at all about saying you "needed" ports of call. That's a fairly strong implication that they (at least some of them) would be used.

It'd be no different if you were to write up a description and I was to reject you for not being able to write.

It's totally different. You accepted people and then told them you were throwing their participation away.

Again, I'm just sayin'... if I see you saying in the future that you need A or you need B, I'm going to want some assurance that A and B are going to get to play, or A and B ain't comin' outa the box. I expect some other people will feel the same way.

We had a couple of people on here today or yesterday talking about how their threads don't get much play. I'm just sayin'... RP in good faith if you want the play.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but the idea that no one will ever want to RP with me because their port of call in "Maiden Voyage of the Azure" wasn't visited for the sake of said RP is quite frankly ridiculous.

I'm not not visiting these places because I hold some grudge against those people--it's because visiting 15 places would take some 10 RL years. The slow way the RP has been progressing taken into consideration, I think we ought to be able to get to three, possibly four if we rush one of the transits.

Well, now I don't know what's going on. One minute it sounds like the Azure won't get out of the harbour before it self-destructs and the next minute you're saying you might get to three ports.

You're certainly still welcome to come to Fatatatutti but if you want any response out of me, you'll have to wake me up. I can see that I made the right call in not putting a passenger on board. The every-breath-you-take pace of the voyage so far is certainly not my cup of tea.

For those who can't be bothered to read the IC thread:

Overview:

The ship left port, and has sailed for several hours.
Dinner has been announced. Those passengers in standard rooms go to the Azure Bay for dinner, those in the suites go to the Kings Pavillion.

Those at the Kings Pavillion, and seated at the Captains table are:

Currently we have - going from 12 o'clock on

Captain
Star
Alexa
Bria
Tazuren
Elsbeth
John Fell
First Officer
Empty space

Empty space ( John Hobo - potential guest of Jimmy James)
Empty space ( Jimmy James - when he arrives )
Jimmy Janes's wife
&adoptive son (the two teens ) - as part of the party in the other penthouse they are probably directly at the Captains left

The table seats 14...2 empty spaces.

Jimmy James and John Hobo are in the ships clothing store, and it looks like Jimmy is going to buy the Hobo new clothes. I think Birkaine is with them.

We have Alexis & Zoe, Ziyo, Michael Rhodes & his wife, Vladislav & Adelai, none of which have posted their people as doing anything more than coming aboard.

(Parilisa’s Ambassador Sophie Hirsch has had to drop out, the player is on vacation as I understand it.)

The Second Officer is on the bridge but the Third Officer has the con, and it is foggy out.

Yeah, don't worry about it either way, anyone could pretty much guess by "lock the bulkhead doors."

And Wolfs Hold, codes like that aren't used anywhere but on ocean liners (in Leistung) and cruise ships (IRL), so if your guy is in the military, he might not recognize them. Then again, he might be able to draw parallels from the order to lock the deck seven external balcony doors.
