Our nation holds many small territories from our imperial days that we never got rid of. Now, one of them has a use. A large island in the North Atlantic was claimed by us nearly 200 years ago. It was used as a minor military base, holding maybe a Batallion and a couple destroyers. But it was terminated about 20 years ago. Now, we've found black gold. Nearly 3 Billion potential barrels of oil have been found. We are taking bids for the mineral right to the island, but the island will remain ours. Bidding will last for one week, and the rights will go to the highest bidder.

Dear insignificant nation,
It has recently come to our attention that it is your nation's official policy to threaten and subjugate as well as annex the soverign territory of another country. As a nation with a strong sea-faring tradition, we find your willingness to attack and attempt to steal islands to be highly uncalled for and also slightly disturbing.
Therefore, our Parliment has voted in favor of an official reprimand and warning against any attempts to act upon your threats. We have little interest in the region or in the nations involved, but should your country feel the overwhelming need to attack another, we will be required by the Blubland Constitution (Article 7, Amendment 7.2) to come to their aid and render your ships into artificial reefs.

There are several bidders from our nation, but they are very low. The larger oil companies have enough supply that getting more would cause a drop in prices, and they don't want that. The smaller companies tend to export more often, as they tend to have a slightly higher price. You could possibly go into an agreement with one of them, or buy the full mineral rights.
