106.8 Star FM, which covers the Eastessexing region of Astholm, has been put up for sale.

This decision was made today by our Media and Culture Minister.

It is currently owned by Barwell Radio Limited, who own 33 stations in Astholm. This station currently overlaps with one of their sister stations, so we have to sell it.

It is profitable for a small station, and we get good listening figures.

The station is networked with its sister stations GCFM 96.5, WTFL 102.3, Solar 105.5 and Star 107.3.

These four stations all share a common playlist, and the same slogan of "Great Music Variety".

Star 106.8 is local at breakfast (6am-10am) and drivetime (2pm-7pm) weekdays, and Saturday and Sunday breakfast (6am-10am) it is local.
Any new owners will have to replace the networked programming with local output; this is a compulsory requirement of buying the licence.

All other content comes from Star 107.3 in Lewincham.

This station will go on sale as of today, and you can bid now.

The bid will close in a fortnight, and the winning bidders are required to submit a 100-word essay on what they plan to do to the licence.

Any major changes to the licence have to be approved by us first.
