The following information is intended to give the reader a resource a base of knowledge about the Defesean Defence Force. The military of this nation is not designed to be deployed internationally, furthermore it is barely capable of defending its own borders thanks to the constitutional pacifism. Rather, the Forces are intended to provide adequate defence from foreign invasion, to allow time for foreign allies to render assistance in times of need. Other, primarily stated goals of the Defence Force is to assist local emergency forces under dire circumstances caused either directly or indirectly by natural disasters. Foreign peacekeeping, if thoroughly financed by foreign bodies (like the United Nations for instance), are not out of the question, but are kept to non-combat units like human relations, medical and engineering teams.

Without further adieu, here is the Defesean Defence Forces:

The Military of Defese are known as the Defesean Defence Forces. The Defence Forces are an intentionally small and capably limited force of 24,000 volunteers. Since the recent reorganization of the Defence Forces, the Army, Navy and Air Force have been broken up into four "components" which are as follows.

The Land Component, formerly the Army, is responsible for the defence of the nations border routes. The Army is also responsible for customs and immigration inspections at major border crossings, though supplemented by the Defesean Immigration and Trade Commission when necessary.

During the National Reformation, all tracked vehicles, such as battletanks, armoured personnel carriers, etc, were sold off to be replaced by wheeled vehicles.

The Air Component, formerly the Air Force, is responsible for aerial surveillance of remote national boundaries and is very limited in its offensive capability since a ban on guided missiles was enacted during the National Reformation. In addition to the previously stated role of surveillance, the Air Component is also a vital lifeline to more austere communities in the northern mountainous region of Arak, which is home to a small concentration of nomadic Iknak peoples.

The Air Component is largely notable for the prolific use of its transport aircraft and its near lack of fighter planes, which are largely falling into disrepair with no plans of replacement.

The Naval Component, formerly the Navy, is tasked with search and rescue duties up and down Defese's long and turbulent coastline and interdiction of smugglers, which fuel Defese's growing drug problems.

The Naval Component is mostly made up of small patrol craft and scientific survey vessels, which are technically owned in part or as a whole by the various local universities and science foundations of Defese. However, a single guided missile cruiser remains in service with the Naval Component after much heated debate.

The Medical Component is a newly created branch of the military which is intended for regional service, with the intention of delivering aid and comfort to less fortunate foreigners.

The budget of 3.4 billion Dinars is divided amongst the four components as follows

63% is spent on salaries
25% is spent on equipment maintenance
12% is spent on new investments

The operational commands of the components (COMOPSLAND, COMOPSAIR, COMOPSNAV and COMOPSMED) are subordinate to the Staff Department for Operations and Training of the Ministry of Defence, which is headed by the Assistant Chief of Staff Operations and Training (ACOS Ops & Trg), and to the Chief of Defence (CHOD).

All in all, it seems that the future of the Defence Forces of Defese is uncertain. Whether it will remain as an armed force in the coming decades is in question as the government seems likely to completely disband it at some point, leaving possibly the Medical Component to serve within the confines of international assistance forces for humanitarian purposes.

1. Its Defesian
2. Why are all these Defese clones popping up?
3. Defesians love the sky, and have an overwhelming airforce.
5. I hate 4.
6. Defesians get sea sick very easily, and hate the ocean. So no navy.
7. Smugglers are shot on site.

OOC:

Clearly these aren't the same kind of Defesean, as they are not northern or southern... but just Defesean. Why can't we accept each other for who we are and stop forcing our differences on one another? If that were the case, brother, we would be united as opposed to a collection of banana republics. Don't you think?
