This is something I thought about doing for a while. I'm sure that anyone reading this has an idea what this is going to be about. Basically, there will be two sides, one that will be christian nations and one that will be islamic and arab nations. I will be on the christian side while the islamic side will include a puppet nation I will create for the RP.

The IC reason for the war will be that a nation that I will create for the RP has recently attacked my nation and has taken a lot of territory while inflicting heavy casualies and my nation has decided to turn to other christian nations for help to regain their territory.

The reasons being offered by my nation for anyone to be on the christian side are either protecting christians, recapturing the holy land(I'm basing the borders of both the nations I will be controlling on RL countries and Palestine is a part of the nation I'm creating for the islamic side) or gaining territory from the nation.

The motivation for anyone who wants to be on the islamic side will be either protecting a fellow islamic/arab nation from agggression, defending holy sites and the possible rewards that my puppet can offer, such as access to their vast natural resources.

So, after that long winded description, is anyone interested?

I wouldnt get invovled for any religous reason (I'm neither Christian or Muslim in RL and nor is my nation) but I would defend an invaded nation from either Christian or Muslim extremists if the need was there.

Interesting. My own nation is heavily based on the Byzantine Empire. Just incase anyone is wondering, that includes it following the Orthodox Church.

I could make an islamic puppet. Maybe it's an islamic militant organization with maybe 100,000 fighters that also hires maybe 50000 of my Kjeldoran mercenaries.

Sounds interesting, and I would have liked to be a part - i've always been a bit of a boffin on Templars, Crusades etc - however, I cannot be part of this as Religion is highly regulated in Ustio by the Political Enforcement Agency, and so if I was to enter this then realistically i'd have to declare war on all nations with religion. But the PEA isn't that powerful, and won't really care.

I'd like to join in on the Christian side, if thats acceptable. VT is part of CIS, plus Ordo Faek Sythdol likes to show how death-happy fanatical their Crimson Templars are.

No offence Valladares, but I think I'm going to stop accepting players for the Christian side for now, as it is presently larger than the Islamic/Arab side and I'd prefer that the sides are roughly equal in size if possible, so that this doesn't turn into a dogpile on the Islamic/Arab side.

May I join as a Christian state? My nation is sorta (kinda) like what the late Byzantine Empire could have become, had it survived. (In fact, there's quite a nice little storyline somehwere on my flashdrive - I'll tell you sometime if you're interested.)

Can I join as a third party with no religious motivation? My nation could be interested in destabilizing the situation for war profiteering. I would most likely play both sides.

OOC: It says MT in the thread title which is Modern Technology. If it was Tech c.1200-1500 then he would have stated that in the thread title. But it is commonly (If not regarded as a general rule on these forums) that MT means Modern Technology.

Guys, its modern tech(MT). I don't know where Torturous Chamber got the idea that this RP is set in Medieval Times. New Chalcedon and Ventares, you're accepted. New Chalcedon, you are going to be the last person I'm going to accept for the Christian side and yes, I would be interested in reading your storyline.

Thats quite restricting see as how Islam is a religion for all people, not just Arabs.

What Islamic/Arab means is the Side is for nations that are either Islamic or Arab.

At the moment, the Empire of New Chalcedon is meditating on joining the Christian side.

However, Osea's membership of the CIN makes that difficult - I hope that Cukarica and Wolf Hold realise that they will be on the opposite side from Osea.

I think that the CIN members on this thread need to discuss the issue on the CIN boards, *before* taking actions that may see any/all of us expelled from the Commonwealth.

NOTES

The Templars in Stevid are the luckier than any religious military order in the NS world (A bold claim I know, but I can back it up ;) ) The government is pro-religious and directly funds the Templar military through 20% of the funds alloted to the Church in Stevid. The other funds come through chairty to the Templars through collections of dedicated charities throughout the world. The Order of the Knights Templar in Stevid is truelly global. This is why they can field such powerful equipment and have so many Knights. It's also why my government is directly contributing Stevidian Armed forces as allies with the Church.

OOCly they're just fun to RP with, ICly they shouldn't be under estimated. I needn't have to prove it but if you ask then I will- BUT I have RPed with these guys before and they have gain somewhat of a reputation on NS.

They've been sorted, and I am joining the Christian side, although the Empire won't officially get involved.

I guess I should have read all 50-odd replies. I just looked at the first post and saw Osea on one side and WH and Cukarica on the other. Now that that's been amended to be more clear, I'm quite happy with things.

The forces here will essentially be volunteers raised by the Orthodox Church, and will consist of the following:

First Battalion.

Commander: Nikolaus Pherides, Lt.-Col. (retd.), Imperial Army.
Troops: 5 companies, 200 men each.
Vehicles: 12 Leopard 2 (PSO variant), 16 CV90 APCs, fitted with MEXAS armour.
Support equipment: 8 Apache helicopters, configuredwith AGM-77 Hellfire missiles in anti-vehicular role. Additionally, 1 Battalion possesses some infantry-based anti-tank weaponry.
Support personnel: 200.

Second Battalion.

Commander: Elena Parthalimbos, Col. (retd.), Varangian Guard.
Troops: 6 companies, 180 men each.
Vehicles: 24 Leclerc main battle tanks, 24 CV90 APC, with MEXAS armour.
Support equipment: Significant quantities of infantry-usable anti-tank weaponry. In addition, this company emphasises personal armour for its troops.

Each company has attached a team of 10 field doctors, with supplies for both field surgery and base care.
