Golden Rebirth

(OOC: This is intended to just be a weak little RP-ish statement in order to break a little from of the previous RP continuity I may have built up as GR and/or Random Kingdom, start bringing Golden Rebirth back in line with its tech level (it's supposed to be FT, or at least NFT, but the last time I RP'd as it it was so technologically backwards as to be MT/PMT), get me back into nation roleplay, and just stave off boredom. Feel free to ignore, reply, point out OOC/IC problems or inconsistencies, or whatever.)
8th March 2600, Rosewater City
President for life Ami Rosewater III today unveiled the nation's first nationally designed and built hyperspace-capable "faster than light" spacecraft, the latest stage in an attempt by the nation to set into motion the beginning of the end of its reputation as a backwards third-world country.
"Soon, the name Golden Rebirth will be as synonymous in the furthest reaches of space with liberty and equality as it is in our local solar system," the 29-year old head of government and state proclaimed at a press conference at noon, "and the days of playing catch-up to the great intergalactic powers will be long over."
The spaceship, named Unity, is modest to say the least, with a capacity of 4 crew and 4 passengers, but is seen as a remarkable step forwards for a nation that has previously been required to import all FTL ships, at significant expense.
The news comes weeks after Golden Rebirth announced the deployment of a new fleet of 5 new non-hyperspace asteroid mining ships, in order to significantly increase yields for the state-owned mining initiative.
