In small craft had caught up to the cruise ship and began to fire. Coming along side they soon got aboard and took over the ship. A broad distress signle was sent

We have received the distress signal from your cruise ship. If you wish, we are willing to send two teams of SWORD (Special Weapons Operational Response Detachment) commandos to assist you in retaking the ship. The SWORD commandos are well-trained in maritime counter-terrorism.

OOC-could I say there are a few Comorostani nationals onboard and RP their actions? or do you want to keep this a strictly international response RP?

Helena Parr was reading a book when the gun shots rang out, and at first she was so engrossed by the twists and turns of the plot that she did not hear the commotion. But when the screams began and when people rushed to the windows to look at the ships in pursuit she set the book on the table and strolled over to find out what was going on. She was a calm and laid back woman, but what she saw shocked her. She said nothing. She did nothing. But she knew that she was in grave danger.

IC-Mike Stevens was in his cabin when the gunfire started. His first reaction was to check it out. Then common sense kicked him in the face. You idiot. Yeah, let's walk towards the gunfire. Those sound like automatic weapons...but I'm sure its nothing. Stupid. Mike went to his suitcase, opened up the top compartment, and pulled out a Ruger .22 pistol. Silent, compact, but deadly. Mike remembered another Comorostani on board, a woman by the name of Trisha...something. OK, meet up with her, then get to the lifeboats. Yeah, that sounds good. Mike made sure the pistol was loaded, then slowly opened the door and sneaked down the corridor.

The commander of the small Blue Corp rescue fleet had directed his officers to slow down slightly, so as not to be detected by the pirates. The attackers were now in sight. He tells two of the boats to spread outwards and move foward towards the scene. He tries again to intercept the cruiseship's radio signal. He leaves a preset message:

Helena would normally have had some witty comment to make to a person who treated her so ignorantly, but she was so shocked by this interruption to her holiday that she simply did as she was told. It was best, she decided, if she did not mention her family; she would be a pretty big ransom to Parilisa if these pirates knew who she was.

The stealth officer already on deck, Jonny, has made it below deck and waits forthe signal to set off the special device. He sees a woman being carried out onto the deck by a pirate. In thirty seconds the deck should fill with an invisible gas that will put all inhalers into a deep sleep. The stealth section has just lost two officers due to a pirate wielding a machete. The commander angrily sends more officers clambering up to the deck.

Mike reached Trisha's room. Empty. D*mn. What to do now? Mike quickly searched for anything useful. He found some money and, lo and behold, apparently Trisha packed. A H&K P-10 pistol was buried under her clothes. Better than a .22. And she won't be using it. Mike slipped the pistol into his pocket, transferring the .22 to his back pocket. Now on to the lifeboats. Then he heard the gunfire. The gunfire grew louder. Mike, from a hidden vantage point, saw more and more pirates streaming away from where they seemed to be guarding the other passengers. An ida grew in his mind. He slipped out of the hiding place, and began sneaking towards where the pirates were keeping the hostages. If I can free the hostages, the pirates won't have any bargaining chips left. There was no way he could take out 20 pirates with 10 rounds of P-10 ammo and another 8 .22 rounds. Mike decided to go back to the hallway. He could find a lone pirate, kill him, then take his AK. Then he'd have some serious firepower. Mike went back into the hallway. He spotted a lone pirate, running to the battle. Mike fired four .22 rounds into his head, and another 4 into his chest.

Blue Corp stealth officers have hidden some tourists in an empty room below deck.

The commander, experienced in bomb disposal, has heard the shouting about a bomb on board. There are now more pirates than Blue Corp on deck. The gas seems to be losing its effect. There aren't many rounds left in his T-G. He had not expected so many pirates. There was not enough time for more Alanean backup. He had to do something quickly.

Inside the closed room, the last of the few innocents rescued by Blue Corp. quietly make their way to the deck. Not so far from the scene...

Nonchalantly scraping a bit of ninja from his boot with the aid of an antique ivory shoehorn, Captain Carlton Contagion listened to relevent radio traffic. Forking out his five-fold share of the last six-months' booty on this state-of-the-art listening post would be worth it, after all, he thought.

"Lads!" He called out, to little avail. "Lads!" This time he added a shot from a flare pistol, aimed square into the chest of an unfortunate hostage, and so managed to rally his comrades in arms, who had been engrossed in a series of expensive wagers on fights between a couple of up-armoured giant crabs and an irate cat.

"It's time, if you'll be agreeing with me."

Having already voted on the matter, Contagion's mates hurried to their vessels, while frequency-hopping radios alerted comrades already at sea. International forces had already begun to respond to a hijacking in the region, and so some two hundred and thirty kilometres distant, the Boucanierians closed-in on a growing backlog of other cruise ships and commercial vessels that had been advised by their various responsible authorities to make new arrangements in light of the unfolding terrorist drama.

Popping up from the wavetops just a short distance out from a second cruise ship traveling a similar route to the already hijacked ship, a gyrocopter clattered overhead and planted itself roughly on deck, close to the ship's bridge, and three heavily armed men alighted, guns blazing. Apparently expert shots, they quickly dispatched several officers on and around the bridge, and a small explosion heralded their take-over. The immediate and repeated use of deadly force saw to it that their capture of the bridge was most rapid and unchallenged.

Shortly, a couple of large speedboats, powered by up to four outboard motors a piece, drew up, and more of Contagion's men were hauled aboard. They quickly set to looting, robbing passengers, and using threats of execution to prise open the ship's safes. Within minutes of the attack starting, one speedboat was already full of loot and heading away, and there was little sign that the other raiders intended to stay for long.

A few miles away, however, just over the horizon, a third ship was under attack, this one also by the Boucanierian squadron of Carlton Contagion. This was a large freighter under some other flag, and it was confronted by Contagion's own vessel, a submarine of at least forty years vintage and armed with a large deck-gun, which had just surfaced giving the civilian target little option but to comply with demands to heave-to and prepare for boarding. The Captain himself had already shot the freighter's helmsman with his trademark M-93 Crna Strela 12.7x107mm heavy sniper's-rifle, indicating that he was more than serious.

From the conning tower of the rusty old diesel-electric sub, a chilling banner was fluttering in the ocean breeze...

OOC: Hi! Hope you don't mind my butting in! These two ships -a cruise liner on a similar route to the OP's and a large cargo freighter- are supposed to be two-hundred and thirty-ish kilometres from the original hijacking, and may belong to anyone who wants to claim them. Contagion is using the OP's terrorists to create confusion and distraction as he launches a well-practiced co-ordinated strike, which he hopes will be just out of range of assets sent to deal with the original issue.
