Illegal arms auction

OOC: This is an auction being run by the Iron Fist, a criminal organization in the ASoGM. Those people already signed up in the OOC signup thread (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=585657) should come here. Also, I think we should convert the signup thread to an OOC thread.

IC: Videos began popping up on Youtube with a cell phone number, advertising an auction for a nuclear weapon, as well as other illegally procured arms. There was to be a 30 kiloton Peace of Hell nuclear warhead, 500 Stinger missiles, 250 XM-25 grenade launchers, 1,000 CheyTac M200 Intervention rifles, 1,000 Barret XM-500 rifles, and 500 Hellfire missiles. All of the weapons were unserialized so there was no way to trace the source to the auctioneers or the ASoGM. No information about who was running the auction was given, where it was taking place, or if the auction was real. Similar ads were taken out in Craigslist, and eBay. The ads didn't last long, but as they got deleted, more appeared.

This of course soon came to the attention of the Battlehawk Intelligence Service. A nueclear weapon, into the hands of who knows what. A single agent would be sent to auction, a navel cruiser would be on standby near enough to provide assist.

Agent Carrolson rang the number the you tube video had given and waited for a someone to pick up.

The pre-paid burn phone rang, but nobody picked up. Once the caller hung up, they used the caller ID on the first phone to call the potential bidder, using another pre-paid burn phone. Once the person picked up, they would be asked their name and country of origin, and given their instructions.

"I need you to give me your name and country of origin. In two days, go to the Airport, and make travel arrangements. Your route will take you from your nation to Ameriganastan, to North Defese, to the Third Spanish States, to Gesford, to the ASoGM, to Daiwiz, to Jakra, to Madurastan, back to your nation. No weapons are allowed at the auction, and make sure you're carrying your phone the entire time. The auction is a single bid, silent auction, and payment is to be in negotiable bearer bonds".

Wondering what he would find in such an auction, he absentmindedly tapped his foot against the pristine tiles of his office. After no-one picked up, he hung up the phone, and poured himself a drink. Too bad, Dr'klow really wanted to know what was being sold on the Black Market these days...

Civil Authority Precinct 42 Anti-Cyber Crimes Unit
An officer was at the helm of a large, multi-monitor and computer workstations trolling for illicit activity that was connected with a nationwide Net of similar units looking for and, hopefully, heading off potential attacks against the Dominion through the Internet. Since most agencies and the military switched over to the revolutionary 'Net' as it was generally called, with each organization having its own specialized, private version, the necessity for such units was deemed paramount and legislators were talking about federalizing the effort in a special government investigative branch.

He had pulled archived records, a sort of snapshot of Craig's List at the time of the add. His eyes widened slightly. Since the Dominion version of the FBI was not yet in place he forwarded it directly to the Dominion Intelligence Ministry. Once there the phone number was dialed into one of the Ministry's own burn phones. After allowing it to ring several times, the Attache to the Regional Supervisor put it down, ready to dismiss it as a false ad. Special Agent Cassandra Hayworth would have been the agent on the case.

"Hold on," she told the attache, "Let's wait a minute or so more for a response."

Obviously irritated, the attache agreed and sat back down, glaring at the phone.

United WeaponsTech Corporate Headquarters

Darius Kendall, CEO and head of the Board of Directors for the Dominion's largest weapons manufacturer, was seated at the head of a massive oak conference table. Arrayed before him were of course the Board of Directors, his Chief of Security (his official title, unofficially the man was the head of the corporation's private army), and several advisers who headed up certain projects that UWT kept out of the public and, more importantly, the democratic government's eye.

UWT was the last of the Ruling Five, five massive corporations that had ruled the nation until a hostile takeover from within the Government Complex. Being the strongest it was last on the list to be bought out by the government, which used the profits of the other companies to buy out the next biggest. It was only after a quick change of allegiance and assisting in the seizure of the Dominion Financial Credit Union's central office that it was allowed to remain, albeit in a more downsized state.

The situation had been explained and the same ad was on a massive LCD monitor recessed in the wall behind Kendall. He passed a phone to a man immediately to his right. His name was unimportant, as was his appearance; both changed to often for anyone to bother. On it was a post-it note with one word circled in red pen: 'Nuke'.

Nodding and giving a smile that possessed no joy whatsoever, he dialed the phone and got the same results as the DIM.

Cassandra had given her name as Veronica Aldo of the Dominion and received the message. She put in an order for proper supplies and logged the travel plans. Within a few hours she was en route to the airport.

Then man gave his name as Steven Blanding, a Credonian national 'based' in the Dominion and part of a terrorist organization based out of Grays Hill. He was given a small holdout derringer made of polymers and 5 specialized rounds, to be hidden in his boot. He was making his way to the airport where the private jet had been forgone to comply with instructions.

Both the Dominion Government and United WeaponsTech had wired a few hundred million to shell accounts to be picked up upon arrival, to be cashed in bearer bonds. UWT had no ceiling. They wanted the nuke and money was no object.

The government had the same strategy, but for a different reason: They would get the nuke without benefit to the black market. The rest of the cache would make a hell of a bust, but the nuke was priority and they deemed it the only objective. A specialized team was being assembled and would be inserted discreetly once the location was found.

"Just your typical 'score one for the Free World' type of raid'," the team leader had said to his men.

They would be inserted via a modified Sikorsky CH-53K Pave Low. A message would be sent to whatever nation the auction took place in, but the DIM hoped it would be neutral; asking for permission was a sign of courtesy but didn't change anything, and they worked better with no rules or laws over their heads. Once the nuke was secured it would be loaded aboard and disarmed by a NEST team en route back to the Dominion. Cassandra would report via encrypted burst transmission as to the situation and a satellite would home in on the location to provide orbital surveillance. A secret meeting of the United Defense Directorate was being called down the street at Regional Headquarters in First City.

The command center had been active now for seventy two continous hours, three days of unrelenting intelligence gathering as information flowed across communication and data infrastructure. For a week now the Office of Electronic Surveillance had been occupied with subverting the attempts of an unknown entity of uploading data to the nations internet services, each time being met with failure as another advert appeared on the servers.

Officers were busy conversing with each other, if the few yells they uttered across the workstation seperators could be called a conversation. Shouts concerning telephone numbers, internet protocol adresses, and various nations names were common as the whole of the sixty personnel stationed within the CASTEL Complex worked towards the same goal, finding the owners of a mysterious phone number.

The sale of a nuclear weapon between nations was always of concern to international entities, yet a sale of such a weapon by a private organization to the highest bidder would be enough to make even the most steadfast leader cringe. Nuclear proliferation was one of the most dangerous threats to a country, even more so when known anti-government groups seeked to take advantage of the exchange of a weapon of mass destruction.

Staff Seargent Michelle Gale was now a cog in the machine that was the joint taskforce of OES and the J&R Intelligence Division seeking to halt the transaction. The last nineteen hours had been some of the most boring, tense hours of her life, the tension in the command center had manifested itself in every aspect of its now abnormal operations. Voices were harsher, orders barked, and results mandatory as the whole of base personnel attempted to stop what could be the changing of hands of an actual nuclear weapon.

Not nuclear material, not weapons blueprints, a fully functional nuclear warhead.

Information Corrupt - Data Recovery in Process - Estimated Time of Completion: 9999 Hours

9999 hours, the machine might as well have said that it was nonexistent, the maximmum time allowed to be displayed meant that all it had was a history of the data being there, enough to begin the data recovery process, fruitless as the information was most likely never going to be found.

How could they pull this off? The question burning in the mind of the agent.

A message from the officer in command of the complex appeared on the display, its contents simple and to the point, nothing more. She hated this job, she was a field operative, and was only here due to a recent operation gone bad that left her team dead and landed her in a foreign prison.

Make the call, authorized use of electronic surviellance and call masking measures.

Her heart was pounding, this was it, this could make or break their attempts to crush the arms sale, Gale had to convince them that this was real, that she was a terrorist, scum that wanted to purchase a nuclear weapon with malicous intent. Pulling her headset on, the software started up, creating a faux telephone number that would appear to be any normal number used by a private organization or citizen.

This was it. The tone of the line reverberating throughout Seargent Gale's mind.
