The Royal Commonwealth's delegation was closing on Miami on board an ensemble aircraft. Normally embassy staff would be sent via commercial air travel but this was a special case as they knew they would get a lot of attention from the local media so figured they should give a good impression. The aircraft itself was unarmed and looked very much like concord and suffered the same problems. It look nice, was fast, but very noisy, cost a fortune to maintain and drank fuel like there was no tomorrow, thus had never been a commercial viable craft. How ever it had been a status project and the commonwealth's population would not stand for them being scrap so when they had been withdrawn from service the government had taken them on. Normally only senior nobles and monarchs travailed on them, also from time to time senior politicians, but rarely due to cost.
Before sending the delegation the commonwealth had organised to have bank accounts set up for them as they would largely have to locally source their needs and embassy staff were given a living/entertaining allowance while on station. They had also organised the cell phone contracts, well blackberries in this case as though they had satellite comms with them they were expensive to use and limited in bandwidth. They were only to be used if they go in trouble or were sending the most sensitive information.
Lady Sinie sat impassively, she hated flying, she was a leefen, a feline race of black puma* like anthropomorphic creature. She was waring the traditional sari like clothing of her people and her long straight hair was left down, she was old, a peppering of grey covered he black fur and she had a goodly amount of grey hair. She was monitoring the local media to see how they were likely to be greeted. Well actually randomly flicking though channels looking for something to watch to take her mind off things. She was joined by Ne, he second joined her, she was also trying to take her mind off things, it wasn't flying though. She was of her age and hated being off-line, he comm(Cell phone) back home was always on-line keeping her in-contact with her very wired world. She hoped she could get a local contract and device here, otherwise she didn't know what she would do. The fact she had not checked her various social networking sites or even her email in the last six hours worried her. She was different from Lady Sinie as she was a teerie, a race of green arboreal skunks, like the other she walked upright and was about six foot four. She wasn't waring traditional teetie dress as well that involved waring nothing and she suspected the local population would have enough of a shock with out her turning up naked.
She know one resident of Miami was in for a surprise, she had been talking to him on-line for a while, never expecting to ever meet him. Like most non-humans on-line she had always been vague about her appearance and nature to avoid unwanted attention. When she got a local cell she would have to give him a buzz, a 'native guide' never went a miss.
Ne's bushy tail twitched and she asked Lady Sinie “What do you think they will make of us?”
Lady Sinie shurgged “No idea.” she was just keen to get off the aircraft.
“They have no real experience with people out with there species?”
“Not to my knowledge and your friend is likely to be a little shocked.”
Ne gave a devilish smiled “It's been a while since I've blown someone's mind, He'll probably run a mile as I said I was just a civil servant, then again he seems to be fairly broad minded.”
Sinie laughed “I bet he does, just watch your self I've heard there are some very weird humans out there.”
“And we don't have our share of weirdos?”

“Miami control this is KCE6 requesting approach instructions. Do you copy? Oh yes can you book a large table or tables at the local restaurant for us? Do you copy?” the pilot asked.
The commonwealth delegation had no intention of hiding out in there embassy, better people got used to them and saw them doing 'normal' things, also after the long flight none of them fancied cooking. The flight crew were to overnight at the embassy before heading home the next day properly rested, to allow for the aircraft to be refueled (it takes standard aviation fuel) and to allow time for the aircraft to be unloaded.
There was also a small number of people from the UBC (Unified Broadcasting Corporation, think BBC) covering events from the commonwealths point of view They are also likely to be looking for local partner organisations to aid in news gathering.
*Yes I know you don't get black pumas, but you don't get bipedal talking ones either ;-P
OOC: Have fun with the media/popular reaction, it's up to you if you want to bring in the poor guy Ne's been talking with over the net (I assume I'm right in assuming your modern tech? If not I will rewrite.)
