Unification Wars (MT, semi-open)

OOC: I am going to set the stage for this thread first, and roughly what I am asking of any who wish to participate.
This thread will basically be a military/campaign-based thread (not character, per-se, though characters will be involved, generally of a military nature) detailing the final wars that the Alemannic Federation fights with sectionalist forces to create the full Federation. The main thing is this: this is a war of conquest, not destruction, so NO strategic WMD's will be used by anyone, including myself. One may join in as a nation seeking to aid the Federation, aid the sectionalists, or actually being the sectionalist forces. The beginning, at least, will be conventional warfare (all sides will have armies, with tanks, infantry, artillery, etc.)

There will be multiple fronts, and for reference, this is a normal map of Europe used. Territory for each force/faction will be listed. These are the bare minimum, and other factions can be created as needed. This will also, most primarily, be a ground war, with limited naval involvement (but plenty of air fighting). Any of the sectionalist factions can be replaced with another nation if anyone wishes to take the place of one (though eventually the point is for the sectionalist forces to lose and the Federation to emerge fully).

One final note: this is my first time with a thread like this, so please tell me if I do anything glaringly impossible or resembling a godmode.

Factions/Nations:
(Note: For all except AFG, 1 division is 20,000 men. For the AFG, one division is 31,500 men.
The Alemannic Federation of Grimmeberg (AFG) - Territory: Austria, Germany, East Prussia (Western Poland), Northern Croatia - Total Ground Forces: 1,134,000 troops (36 Divisions 1200 Leopard2 MBTs, over four fronts)

The Pan-Slavic Alliance (PSA) - Territory: the former Yugoslavia, occupies Hungary - Total Ground Forces: 220,000 troops (11 divisions 240 MBTs (type of your choice), Danube Front)

Alsacian Nationalist Forces (ANF)- Territory: provinces of Alsalce and Lorraine, occupies Belgium, the Palatinate, and the Netherlands - Total Ground Forces: 140,000 troops (7 divisions 160 MBTs (type of your choice), Rhine Front)

Scandinavian Federation (SF)- Territory: Finland, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden - Total Ground Forces: 320,000 troops (16 divisions 380 MBTs (type of your choice), Baltic Front)

The New Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (NPLCW)- Territory: Poland (excluding East Prussia), Lithuania, the Ukraine - Total Ground Forces: 420,000 troops (21 divisions 430 MBTs (type of your choice), Eastern Front)

Fronts:

The Rhine Front - Factions: AFG, ANF - Regions: Alsalce-Lorraine, Low Countries, Switzerland.

Danube Front - Factions: AFG, PSA - Regions: Former Yugoslavia, Romania, Hungary, Austria

Eastern Front - Factions: AFG, NPLCW - Regions: East Prussia, Poland, Belorussia (the Ukraine)

Baltic Front - Factions: AFG, SF - Regions: Scandinavia, Denmark, Northern Germany

OOC: Organizing thoughts.

I would like to join, on the side of the Federation. I would contribute one FNAT Division to the Eastern Front. This would be a force of 26,400 men, with, due to combined arms nature of my military, would have 42 M-21 Valkyrie MBTs. What do you think?

That would be good, though I would prefer it if you rp'd one of the sectionalists. But that is ok.

Yes, with the exception being thermobarics and tactical nukes. But yes, cluster bombs, bunker busters and gas are all aceptable.

Sounds good. I don't know how much navel warfare there will be, as I don't seem to currently have a functioning navy to speak of. I should probably do something about that.

I'd advise starting to consider how you'll be dispersing/depoying your forces. You control the entirety of the Scandinavian peninsula, and Denmark. That's especially important for you, because I'll probably be sending the most forces your way.

Also, a general note on troop quality for the sectionalist forces and myself: due to the rushed nature of the raising of my armies, 1/4 of my forces are rather poor quality, 1/2 are decent quality, and 1/4 could be considered 'good'; the sectionalist troops are mostly decent troops, with about 15% being considered 'poor quality' for the most part.

ok. so the main fighting will be in Denmark, then probably a naval battle in the straits, then an amphibious invasion of Norway/Sweden? oh also, are we using the same city names as a map of Europe?
Grimmeberg
02-03-2009, 02:40
Yes, the same map and city names, though I personally use Germanicized names (i.e. Polish 'Gdansk' becomes 'Danzig' and 'Pozny' becomes 'Poznan.' This has little affect on Scandinavia and Denmark however.

Alright. I'll make a 'flotilla' (navy is probably the wrong word for it) to fight in the straits then.

We can probably start a thread for the Baltic war, if you want, though we can wait if you want to see if anyone wants to support you.

I'll add the weaponry I know that I'll be using:

Steyr AUG (assault rifle)
M-60 machine gun
Leopard 2 MBT
Dassault Mirage Fighter
A-10 Warthog (close-support plane)

Troops committed to Baltic Front:
14 Divisions (441,000 troops, 500 L2 MBT's)

ok. If you want to set up a Baltic Front thread, go ahead. I warn you, though, my internet access is random so sometimes war threads can go really slow. just a warning.
Grimmeberg
02-03-2009, 03:01
That's okay. I can wait.

02-03-2009, 03:04
whatever.
Grimmeberg
02-03-2009, 03:04
BTW, we'll open all of these by posting ORBAT's, ok?
Comorostan
02-03-2009, 03:08
ok.
Comorostan
02-03-2009, 03:18
wait, do you mean opening the individual front threads? with ORBATs I mean?
Grimmeberg
02-03-2009, 03:46
Yup.
Grimmeberg
02-03-2009, 03:47
The first one should be up now, and I've put my ORBAT in.
Grimmeberg
02-03-2009, 03:56
It doesn't need to be really detailed, just a basic large unit organization (by division or regiment or whatever should work.)
Grimmeberg
02-03-2009, 04:09
Shall I begin with opening maneuvers?
Jakra
02-03-2009, 04:28
I would like to support the Scandanavian front as my country.
Grimmeberg
02-03-2009, 04:29
Ok. What size force would you be committing? Keep in mind the relative force sizes on both sides.
