Immediately after the war against the NSF, President Hasley decided that it was crucial to establish relations with the Soryan government to deter a future fascist or communist presence in the nation. Cazatanian soldiers had already begun reconstruction projects in Olyan and had set up ration stands in areas of the country stricken by the after affects of a war that had claimed many lives on both sides. Although Cazatanian forces arrived too late to make a difference in the war, more than seven hundred soldiers had been killed during the only Cazatanian military engagement of the war. President Hasley was persistent, and would make up for the late entry into the conflict by helping the Soryan people get back on their their own two feet.

However, the President's advisers had told him that he would have to meet with Queen Janata, the figurehead of the nation. When Ingram was told that she was in fact fourteen, the secretary of defense later recalled that the President looked like he had just suffered a brain aneurysm. Ingram had dealt with young rulers, but never one this young. However, he accepted his advisers advice and organized a meeting in the capital city of Soryanastan, Olyan. The President's aircraft departed for Olyan at about 7:50 AM, and would arrive at a makeshift airfield constructed by the Cazatanian national guard at 3:00 PM. Ingram had plenty of work to get done, so the long flight was more of an excuse to finish reading intelligence reports.

The aircraft touched down at the airfield on time. An entire regiment of National Guardsmen had been moved there in case any communist insurgents decided to try to kill the President. Ingram tucked his CSP45 handgun in his coat as soon as the aircraft had come to a complete stop. As the door opened on the aircraft, Ingram muttered "Orlock, June 27th, 2006."
He proceeded down the movable stairs that had been placed there. Four Marines approached him.
"Hello, Mr. President, I'm Captain John Whyte with the 3rd MEU, and these are my men. We helped to secure a beach-head here last week." He said with a grin. Ingram smiled back and said nothing. He simply walked towards where the Soryans were to meet him.

The city of Olyan was still undergoing mass reconstruction but there were celebrations which would be reserved for the visits of foreign leaders regardless of how the city looked - the Zamenov administration declared that it would welcome the President of Cazelia with open arms and Queen Janata could not contain her excitement at the mere thought of meeting him because - after all - everyone assumed Ingram would have met with Zamenov rather than a fourteen year old girl passed off as the Queen of Soryanastan. When Ingram had landed at the airport, he had been enthusiastically greeted by a bunch of suit wearing officials who brought him to the awaiting motorcade - armed to the teeth - which was pretty comfortable to say the least about it. Helmas Doran, the Foreign Minister of Soryanastan, was the first to really get down to speaking with Ingram. "We are surprised to hear that you wish to meet with Her Majesty instead of the Prime Minister but we see no problem in it - the Queen said she is really interested in meeting with you."

Helmas Doran looked at Ingram with a smile - as if the thought of the President of Cazelia talking about politics with the Queen of Soryanastan was pretty amusing to think about. "Our government is honored to have you visiting our nation and we are hopeful that the Queendom and the Democratic Republic can be good friends. Many of us still speak about the money you have given us for our campaign of reconstruction - we assure you that it's being used to the fullest extent and that all of us are sincerely grateful."

It did not take too long for the motorcade to drive into Olyan - plenty of the buildings were still in ruins or being swarmed by contractors - and Helmas pointed out to Ingram that much of the city was still being renewed but that it was expected to all end pretty soon. As they pulled up at the palace - the route to the entrance was marked with soldiers of the Royal Guard - Helmas Doran and his associates led the Cazelian President into the palace where he was greeted by a stern looking man in military uniform and the pretty young girl standing right beside him in a lovely dress. The Queen smiled at him and bade him welcome to her home. "It is a pleasure to finally meet you,' Janata said excitedly, 'but I must say that I'm very surprised that you chose to meet me over the Prime Minister. Don't mind my companion here. He is Asylov, the leader of my Royal Guard. Anyways, shall we go for a brisk walk? I hope to show you around if that's possible. Don't worry, along the way we can talk about whatever you want."

Ingram smiled at both Janata and Asylov.
"I'm fine with taking a walk, as long as you don't mind my men accompanying me." Ingram said. Whyte and another marine, a black man, passed followed Ingram as he in turn followed the Queen.
"Your Majesty, would you mind if I inquire what will happen to the leaders of the National Salvation Front if they are found guilty?" He asked. Whyte fiddled with his G9 for a second before walking up next to Asylov.
"I hope those bastards get what they deserve. I heard they ran child brothels and massacred entire towns for no reason at all."

"It would not be a problem to have your men accompany you,' Janata said as they walked down the halls of the palace where she had been raised for fourteen years. There were still repairs being done to this elegant abode - the portraits of old folk heroes and royal leaders long dead were hanging once more upon the walls - and Janata made sure she pointed out the significance of each of them. As she heard Ingram's question, she cringed, quite a bit. She went silent for a moment, as if remembering something she had tried to put away in her mind, but then she replied. "They'll probably be executed. That's what Asylov has told me - they'll all be killed."

Asylov nodded his head to Whyte. "That's only some of what they've done. You haven't even heard the worst of it - I'm sure they will all be wiped away from our nation like dust in the wind soon enough. It'll be a superhuman feat if anyone can be convinced that they're somehow innocent. It's sad, though, that we didn't get Singhenov and his bitch, his wife, in the bag - I would have really loved to see them get their punishment."

Janata looked at Ingram and sighed. "I hope that the trials end soon so we can put this chapter in Soryana history behind us. I hate having to talk about the people who killed my parents. Had I not been so lucky, I wouldn't be here with you today, President."

Janata stared at the black man - for a moment - and looked intrigued. "We have not had any men of color here before. I've only heard about such people in my lessons but it's nice to see people - of different cultures - in person. Welcome." She turned her head to the President and spoke to him next. "The government of our nation wishes for me to ask you if an embassy exchange deal can be arranged. I'm serving as their spokeswoman. I'm really just the head of the state of the realm and whatever powers I have are currently in my regent's hands. He's a capable man in my mind. When I'm eighteen, I'll get them from him. My powers, guaranteed to me by the new Constitution of the Queendom. Feel free to ask questions, President. I'm a pretty down to earth person."

Asylov chuckled. "Here is a queen who has eaten with common soldiers in a mess hall and who has played with orphans in their orphanages. Some aristocrats may be a tad miffed but screw them."

They eventually all congregated in what once was her father's personal study - the books he had collected were returned along with the portraits he had hung on the walls - and Janata sat down on her father's personal chair while beckoning Ingram and his companions to take their own seats. A maid was called forth to procure some snacks and refreshment. "President, I must say that it is a real pleasure - though unexpected - to be meeting you. You really should be meeting with Zamenov but it doesn't matter - I'm glad you're taking the time to meet me despite my age. Speaking of Zamenov, he's asked me to request trade between our nations along with some sort of date upon which your soldiers will evetually leave Soryanastan. He thinks that - in some time - we'll be able to manage things by ourselves. I hope he's right. Personally, President, I'd like to visit Cazelia in the future. I'm sure it's a beautiful nation. Like my own nation.....once was."

Janata sighed. "You can request a tour of the Queendom if you want - it's something that I often did with my parents before the revolution. We would visit the cities and the towns and gaze upon landmarks such as the statue of Yani Loran in Thaumatas. Yani Loran is my favorite poet - his works are simply marvelous to read. One of his most famous poems is the Hymn to Adra which he wrote in honor of Adra of Thaumatas, a woman who fought in numerous battles when Soryanastan was embroiled in a bitter conflict between the usurper who stole the throne from its rightful owner and, well, its rightful owner - Adra fought against the usurper and became well known for her preference for the heavy swords. Once the conflict ended - it had lasted six years - Adra retired to her farm where she raised a family; all of them were given noble status by her liege in gratefulness for her deeds. I am a descendant of King Lumas - Adra's liege - but my cousin, Princess Kara, is the one who descends from Adra through her second son who married into the House of Kaurov....."

Janata giggled before the maid came along with the snacks and beverages. "I'll stop here because I don't want to bore you with a history lesson. So, President, do you have anything to ask of me?"

Whyte chuckled.
"I would have loved to see what that bastard and his wife would get if they were caught. I hope I get to see some of the executions, since I'm stationed here and all." He said. Ingram, Whyte and the three other marines aknowledged Janata and sat down. Ingram looked at Janata and smiled.
"I'm sure we can come to an agreement about our troops. It has already been set forwards that we leave the country within three years, and within a year we will cut down the number of troops in your country by forty percent. As for trade, my advisers and I have already decided that it would be beneficial to begin trade between the Democratic Republic and the Queendom within two weeks." Ingram said as he reached for a cracker, which he quickly ate. After he finished chewing the cracker he continued.

"Another thing that I would like to bring up is the modernization of your nation's military. As we have already begun supplying you with small arms and drill instructors, I would like to know if your nation would be interested in single-way defensive pact in case some rampaging group of fascists like the IFA tries to turn your nation into their puppet state."

Asylov laughed. "It seems that some Communist fanatics executed him and his wife out of their ludicrous desires to retain control over our nation - they thought that if they signed a peace treaty with their enemies, they would be able - perhaps - to retain control. I'm sure you'll be able to see some of the executions once the judgments have been passed. By the way, I've been told that there are people looking for Singhenov's only child. That's right, the bastard had a daughter but it seems she's gone missing. We suspect she was killed and what a shame that is - an infant being killed in the battle for Olyan."

Janata nodded her head. "I believe that the Zamenov administration will not mind Cazelian soldiers being stationed here for three years although you may want to check up with them about it. It's possible that they may not accept such an arrangement - but I'm pretty sure they'll definately accept a trade deal between our nations."

Janata took one of the crackers and smiled. "The military could definately use some help from what I've heard. This IFA you speak of....I really hope it doesn't try to turn us into a puppet. I'm sick and tired of the bloodshed, President, and I'd hope that the people of this nation can move on from such horrible things. A single way defense pact would be beneficial, I'm sure, but the Parliament would need to deal with it. I have the power to conclude treaties but Parliament must approve in order for it to be legally binding - the power, though, is in the hands of my regent so he'd have to sign the treaty in my name."

Throwing the cracker into her mouth, Janata thought for a moment about what to say next to the President of Cazelia. When she swallowed the cracker - Asylov had walked into the room - she began to speak. "My regent is a local aristocrat whose titles and estate were restored by Parliament - they signed an act which mandated the restoration of the Peerage of Soryanastan. My regent has the power to ennoble families and bestow honors but I'll gain it for myself once I come of age in four years. If I may ask, President, who was the leader of all Cazelian soldiers in Soryanastan?"

"It was Colonel Ryan Dekanski, but his aircraft was the one of the five to get shot down by the communists. But if you mean a living man, I would look at Captain John Whyte here. He was the highest up on the chain of command during our landing." Said Ingram "If there is any man that you should bestow honors to, it would be him." He looked over at Whyte, who looked back, and then at Janata.
"Thank you, but I don't want or deserve a title. I am no higher than the men I have fought with on the beaches or the children that cheer as we drive through their towns in our tanks." Whyte stated and after a short pause Ingram began to talk again.

"I guess I will have to stay here for a few days to work things out with you Mr. Zamenov and you parliment. I'm sure we'll be able to work something out that is satisfactory for both of our nations." Ingram said, smiling. He reached for another cracker, taking a quick pause to eat it before continuing on.
"I hope I don't sound insensitive about asking this question, but how did you manage to get out of the country alive?"

"Rest assured that we will always remember the deeds of the valiant Cazelians along with those of the other foreign armies who sacrifice time, effort and lives to help our nation - one not their own - a very courageous demonstration of altruistic benevolence. You may not get a title, then, but you will always gain my utmost respect for you, Captain."

Janata took a sip from her glass but then turned her head when she overheard Ingram's question. She had strived to free herself from remembering the horrors of the revolution but then she remembered some advice - she ought to talk about it and try to cleanse her mind through action. So that's what she did. "Sometimes I wonder how I had been able to get out of Soryanastan when the revolution had entered its final stages but I was able to escape from the hell the rebels had created through the actions of a gentle and caring maid. She hid me from the advancing rebels and sacrificed herself in the hopes I would live - that I would escape. I ennobled her family as soon as I regained the throne of the Queendom. After I had fled the palace, in nothing but my nightgown, Asylov - who you know is the head of the Royal Guard - took me with a band of soldiers aboard a military vehicle and we fled Olyan, as it burned, my eyes were swimming in oceans of my tears. As we drove along the road, the soldiers would occassionally stop along the way to make camp and check how much supplies we had. Thank God that we had plenty of food and spare tents. I spent the first night in my personal army tent crying like an insane woman. We eventually found our way to a chateau my parents took me to during the summer months. I remember that the remnants of the Parliament had gathered around there, the remnants of what we once had were planning to use my family's yacht as transportation out of our beloved homeland. We stayed there only for a while before we set sail."

Janata wiped a tear from her eye and sighed. "I am perpetually thankful to the nation of Lynion for giving me and my companions asylum. During my days in Lynion, I spent time writing in my journal, remembering my parents, occupying my time in various ways. I was always informed of the news concerning Soryanastan.....and, soon enough, we were finally able to return to Soryanastan with our heads held high. The coalition smashed the Communist tyrants, thank God, and restored peace and freedom to the masses. I hope there won't be any more bloodshed, President, but we will endure what comes towards us."

"I'm sorry to hear about your parents. My family was killed by the Londinians during our war with them. I only escaped because I had signed up for an international school. Like you, I am lucky to be alive and here today." Said Ingram
"I also hope that this peace lasts. We have lost too many people and more violence would simply put us back at square one. All of our reconstruction efforts would be gone. But God have mercy if anyone tries to attack you, for we will show them no quarter." Commented Whyte as he walked over to the table to grab a cracker, which he practically inhaled.

"One can only hope that the world around them will not crumble into pieces like it once had. One can only hope that peace will be restored and that the nation they love will be restored to what it once was. President, I remain devoted to the hope that burns within my heart, the hopes and dreams of the masses of Soryanastan, that we will be able to move on and build a new nation out of the ashes."

Janata rose from her seat and smiled. "When would you like to meet the Prime Minister of Soryanastan?"

Ingram stood up and grinned.
"I would very much like to meet him. As he is currently head of government until you are eighteen, I guess it would be a requirment while I am in the country." Whyte, who had only a few seconds ago slung his rifle over his shoulder sighed and took the G9A2 from his back, nodding at Ingram.
"I think we're ready. I'll follow you, I have no idea where I'm going."
Whyte walked out the door and checked the halls. Ingram followed behind him and stood facing the halls waiting for the Queen.
