Concerning weapons, can we produce our own, or do we have to purchase them from storefronts?

you can make your own, but you have to create teh specs for them, and it's suggested that they get approved by the NS draftroom. (http://z4.invisionfree.com/NSDraftroom/index.php?act=idx)

OOC: You can produce RL weapons (like M16s, AK47s, F22 Raptors, Migs, Nimitz class carriers, etc) on your own, without any sort of license. If you want to make your own designs, NS Draftroom is a great place to check out.

OOC: Wait wut? You mean I wasted money buying DPRs for these things?! :$

OOC: Yep. If it's a real world weapon, your nation doesn't need DPRs.

Yeah... not needed, but still, please, don't go overboard.
And if your country isn't advanced enough, or lack materials/trade to produce them in-coutry, then you have to buy it at their insane rates.

You don't need specs to RP them, especially if a 'single-issue' item, like a prototype plot device. Just be ready for when someone calls BS, and if you can't justify, drop it.

OOC: Generally, though, I think buying them is better; you can't go crazy like some other nations...

OOC:

Yep any Rl equipment is fully open for you to produce yourself.

As HT hinted at it is generally more interesting to actually RP the various issues about producing anything yourself be it the availability of materials, the actual costs of production i.e. you still need to build and tool up the factories so the prcies you actually pay might be slightly higher than the RL unit procurement costs or the cost diferences involve din building the stuff yourself instead of buying it. These are issues RL nations need to consider themselves when striving for procurement sovereignty.

Now when it coems to buying DPRs to real life stuff generally it is frowned upon unless by DPR they mean more then "here's the blue prints and a bundle of license stickers" i.e. the DPR package actually includes direct support in the form of adivisors and technitions to help you design, build and stream line the entire production process as well as full machining instructions.
