The National Resurrection (Very Open)

Soryanastan

OOC: With the conflict generally about to end with the total destruction of the Communist government - I present to you the aftermath of the conflict with foreshadowing of my future RP plans. This thread is to simply acknowledge the return of democracy in Soryanastan and for your leaders to welcome them back into the fold.

After the total destruction of the Communist faction had been ensured, Zamenov and his associates took effective control of Soryanastan with their program of national reconstruction and immediate trials for the Communist leaders who had been captured by democratic forces. This was the National Resurrection, Zamenov announced, in which the Queendom of Soryanastan would become a prosperous nation once again. As the war crimes trials began with a scathing report on the village massacres conducted by Communist death squads, Prime Minister Zamenov convened the first session of the Soryana Parliament since it had been abolished while Queen Janata was enthusiastically greeted by jubilant crowds. Her regent - a local aristocrat - read her throne speech while she visited orphans - playing with them as if she were one of them. One writer famously commented: "The actions of Her Majesty refute the time honored notion that all monarchs are snobbish and indifferent towards the plight of the downtrodden."

Zamenov's government swiftly delved into its program of the National Resurrection and whatever vestiges of Communist authority remained were being brought down by agents loyal to the revived Queendom. Collaborators saw their property confiscated and given to needy citizens while children were encouraged to throw their Communist manufactured textbooks in bonfires along with anything the Communists had given them. Pero Lamin was given the title of Minister of National Defence by Zamenov's orders and he became even more of a hero in the nation during the swearing in ceremonies in Olyan. Kara Aranov - the secretary of Espar Singhenov - had been given immunity by the Zamenov regime and, after adopting an orphan girl, retired to a seaside chateau where she began writing a book about her experiences.

An enigmatic aristocrat named Helmas Doran had been given the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs and it was up to him not only to represent the return of the battered aristocracy but also to bring the Queendom into the world once again. Despite much of Soryanastan still being in ruins with rampant rationing and martial law, the Zamenov regime was confident that their project would be a success. Foreign soldiers were permitted to stay as long as they needed so Doran's message could be funnelled to their homelands through them. It began like this: "The Queendom of Soryanastan, having thrown off the tyranny inherent in the Communist system, desires to renew contact with the free nations of the world. We seek to establish full ties with all willing nations."

As the moonlight illuminated the darkened streets of Olyan, Queen Janata paced the grounds of her family's palace which was still under intensive renovation with an issue of the daily mail under her arm. She was wearing a lavish nightgown graciously donated by old spinsters and it suited her well, she thought, as she walked. Janata noticed soldiers of the newly created Royal Guard patrolling the halls - saluting whenever she walked past them - the maids and butlers had retired for the night. Asylov noticed her walking around and smiled. He had felt a sort of fatherly affection for Janata ever since the conflict began. It wasn't the sign of a latent perversion but nothing more than an emotional attachment to his duties. Eventually she had noticed him and she giggled. "I hear that Doran sent his message out to the world today, Asylov. Do you think they'll succeed?"

Asylov smiled. "It is entirely possible that it will succeed although I can't guarantee that it will end up drawing in plenty of nations. For all I know about the state of affairs, it could end up in failure - perhaps some Communist nation will try to revive the revolution in Soryanastan. If that happened, I think we'd see a levee en masse of bloodthirsty citizens."

Janata sighed. "I hope that we can live in peace instead of returning to the bloodshed we ardently tried to end. It was horrible to see all of the bloodshed and carnage around me when it first began, staying up late to hear about the late night reports, watching my father march for the last time with his band of loyalists. I could not stand further bloodshed. It's too much of a cross for me to bear, Asylov, and I pray that the people of this nation will see the light."

As the Queen spoke to the leader of the Royal Guard, Nymira reclined on the plush mattress with a sleeping - unclothed - Leslie sleeping quietly beside her after they celebrated the victory over the Communists with some mutual passion. The two of them were madly in love and it was possible to have Leslie become a naturalized citizen of Soryanastan but that wasn't on Nymira's mind at the moment. As she played with her mate's hair for a moment, she heard Leslie's cellphone ring and wondered who it was that could be calling - it turned out that someone unexpected had called. "Hello? Is there a Leslie with you? James would like to speak with her if she's there."

Nymira grinned before playfully nudging her lover up with her hand. "Wake up, Leslie. There's a woman who's calling you on your cellphone and she's saying that James wants to speak with you! Open your eyes and take the phone!"

Ravana Charka paced the halls of her new and improved hideout with Katie Miller beside her - their love uniting them even closer after the Communist government had fallen. Both of them hoped to live together - forever - in the new Soryanastan. As Ravana held Katie's hand, she smiled. "We'll soon see a new nation out of the ashes, Katie. We'll see it all. Let's have some fun. We'll save the best for....tonight, though. However, I'll let you decide what we do."

In the end - with all said and done, the Queendom of Soryanastan awaited the future with much trepidation while Doran's message - chock full of the usual words - reached the desks of national leaders.

The morning talk shows typically aired on the radioes of the citizens of Olyan had been replaced by the stoic declarations of government officials urging citizens to accept martial law until further notice was given; the democratic government was trying to encourage people to get involved with reconstruction efforts and, although they were generally successful, some citizens lost their faith in government and some even began advocating Anarchism despite its comparisons to Communism by supporters of the democratic government - people were generally encouraged to speak their opinions as freely as they wanted. News of the Imperial response to the government's declaration had been met with positive reviews.

As reconstruction efforts continued amidst the ongoing trials of the surviving Communist leaders, the citizens of Soryanastan began to enjoy the benefits of returning to the old way of organized politics. Freedoms were restored, women could walk safely in the streets again, and children no longer had to fear the red boogeymen who could snatch them from their beds without hesitation. The war crimes trials had revealed that one Communist officer had annual raids on farmers who were forced to surrender their daughters to nomadic brothels managed by other Communist officers. The headlines were often grim on these days and the prosecutors often presented graphic evidence such as pictures and videos of the aftermath of village massacres.

One writer looked upon the trials as the victory of justice over oppressive tyrants - he wrote first hand accounts of how the prosecution brought forth survivors of massacres to speak about what they experienced. One witness alleged that Communist officers brutally murdered the children of dissidents, another alleged people were burned alive in churches, and then there were witnesses who themselves were the survivors of the inhumane prison camps. Kyrad Ludokrin had resigned from his post during the Free City of Sevestres' transition to rejoining Soryanastan and had decided to hide out in the countryside where he wrote various rants and essays on the reconstruction efforts in his homeland while raising his children with the woman he loved. "The mission of the new government,' Kyrad declared, 'must be to secure a future for Soryana children. It is essential that this become the foundation of any government to rule over our beloved motherland. This is a common truth for all nations regardless of what ideology prevails - it is a universal truth."

There were mass rallies in the streets held by pro-democracy supporters which urged the people to rise up and assist in the reconstruction efforts. They would shout all sorts of patriotic slogans, they would violently wave their flags, and they would march through the streets in the hopes that the nation could be unified as one - united they would stand. As they marched, they held up old portraits of folk heroes and shouted their allegiance to the Child Queen of Soryanastan. Janata's regent declared that he would surrender authority to the Queen when she turned eighteen; it was decided that they would organize Soryanastan according to a Prussian style constitution in which the Crown and Parliament would split powers between them. The Regent would be responsible for using the Crown's powers until the Queen turned eighteen.

The first national election since the Soryana Revolution would be held in three weeks according to the Zamenov Administration's spokesmen. It had been rather immediate that political parties were created - Greens, Social Democrats and others would launch vivid campaigns chock full of promises and dreams. The Zamenov Administration attempted to appeal to the people who had fought under them against the Communists - stating that they would be able to bring the nation to prosperity and triumph. The Greens hoped to create an environmentalist democracy while the Social Democrats proclaimed their intention to create a welfare state in Soryanastan. The Fascists were permitted to run in the election despite criticism from intellectuals and they seemed to renounce their once violent ways in favor of a peaceful transition to Fascist utopianism. This, though, came into further controversy when people said a victory for the Fascists would bring an end to the democracy hundreds died to create. Each of them said they were in support of maintaining the centuries old monarchy - only the Republican Association advocated the abolition of Soryana monarchism.

The message to the world's leaders still awaited more responses.

That sounds suspiciously self-serving. If nobody would vote Communist, what's the point of disallowing Communists from running? It looks to us like your aristocracy wants to prevent Communists from running because they will get votes.

I never said that they were disallowed from running; it's just that the public wouldn't take too kindly to such a thing if it happened. Now, please start posting IC posts here as I don't want to clutter this thread with OOC.

From: President Ingram J Hasley, the Democratic Republic of Cazatania

The people and government of Cazatania are delighted to see the return of the Queendom of Soryanastan and hope that your nation's people are as ecstatic about your return as we are.
As an act of kindness, the Cazatanian government offers NS$20 billion to the government of Soryanastan for reconstruction purposes as well as the DRMC and DRA soldiers currently stationed in your nation to aid with repairing and rebuilding damaged and destroyed areas.
We also offer our support in reforming your armed forces. The Cazatanian government would like to offer some of our professional Drill Instructors as well as our all of our armaments (http://z4.invisionfree.com/NSDraftroom/index.php?showforum=38) free of charge.

If possible, I would be very interested in visiting Soryanastan to meet with Queen Janata and talk about Cazatania and Soryanastan's future together as friends. I would be pleased to hear back about a possible meeting time and location.

To the nations willing to take advantage of Soryanastan's current weakness, if you dare but set one foot upon Soryan soil you will have signed a declaration of war against the Democratic Republic and her colonies. You have been warned.

Sincerely,
President Ingram Jonathan Hasley

President,

It warms our hearts to hear that the Democratic Republic is still willing to support the Soryana nation after the bloody conflict we waged against Communist tyranny finally ended in total success. It is a pleasure to read about the generosity of the Cazelian nation and it would be a pleasure not only to accept your offer but also to ask for the creation of full diplomatic relations between our nations in the spirit of solidarity between lovers of liberty and freedom.

We would be glad to accept Cazelian assistance in the construction of the Queendom's armed forces - we are graciously thankful for your generous gift and assure you that the Cazelian nation's deeds will never be forgotten by the masses of Soryanastan. Her Majesty the Queen graciously accepts your offer and aspires to meet with you in our capital, Olyan, whenever you are free to meet with her - the Queen hopes that our nations can be close friends.

We look forward to further correspondence,

Rumors that the President of Cazelia would be visiting the Queendom spread like wildfire across the battered nation with citizens eagerly awaiting his arrival with much jubilation - the Queen was absolutely amazed to know that the President wanted a personal audience; she may have been a fourteen year old girl under a regent but she didn't mind giving a personal audience because - as some aristocratic companion exclaimed - it'd be beneficial for her to learn about diplomatic meetings first hand. The nation needed as much support as it could attain, Zamenov had announced, and everyone believed. The war crimes trials continued with more news of the massacres and Communist pogroms against the aristocrats filling the televisions and radioes of citizens. The death toll steadily rises in the thousands as mass graves are uncovered all across a nation once praised for its idyllic charm.

The national election was moving along smoothly with posters plastered upon city walls while speakers would try to convert the masses to their platform. It was decided that all Communist candidates would be banned from office until further notice - not one citizen dissidented because it was they who asked for it, they who demanded it, they who declared it would be a triumph for liberty and freedom. The calls of Fatatatutti to allow Communist candidates to run for office went unheeded and were even criticized by Soryana writers. No one knew that secret remnants of the Communist Revolution - rogue and independent - were organizing themselves in the Soryana underworld where perverts and murderers lurked. The underworld - the poets called it the abode of the sinners - was where Communism would attempt to regain control.

Food supplies had to be hastily made for the villagers still suffering from the effects of mass starvation. They had once been self-sufficient communities but Communist rule had starved them dry of everything they had. Rumors of cannibalism were mentioned several times in the war crimes trial and some jurors even walked out when they were told of the deeds of the Communists. They couldn't bear to hear the sickening reports. They would just wish an immediate death before they walked out of the courtroom. The families of victims would parade in the streets to demand unconditional justice and to remember the loved ones they lost. Teenage pregnancy rates had skyrocketed under Communist control due to the mass war rape epidemic, officials announced, and it was said that many girls had sought abortions despite the restrictions against such work.

Despite the overall feeling that the Queendom would be able to rebuild itself after the conflict - there was the looming spectre of death that came over the masses with all the mass graves found, all the famine survivors fed, all the children saved from the Communist officers' brothels. Kara Aranov, the secretary of the mastermind behind the Revolution, decided she would write a book on her experiences. She had only worked for Singhenov because she needed the money - she wrote - she had never once supported Communism. She was of the opinion that it was mere utopianism - an opinion long voiced in Soryanastan and around the world. The book - titled My Story - would be chock full of information. As the trials continued, the question of Singhenov's daughter was still up for answers. It turns out that Nelenna had been smuggled out to a refugee family that fled Olyan during the final weeks of the conflict and that she was being raised as one of their own. No one knew this. Nelenna would never know that her parents were the two most hated people in the Queendom.

Operation Sherlock Holmes
March 4th, 2016

Fifty three days had passed since Cazatanian forces set foot in Soryanastan. Army and National Guard units numbered in the tens of thousands, handing out food, medical supplies and water, as well as setting up refugee camps outside the city. The Cazatanian press called it a 'resounding success' as did the people. Until an effective Soryana police force could be established, the Cazatanian military and the Marines in particular had been the keepers of law. Soldiers in full combat gear drove through the streets in M153 Aggressor jeeps armed with heavy machine guns and GPMGs, Infantry patrolled the streets with loaded assault rifles and even light anti-tank missiles. Communists were often verbally abused by Cazatanian soldiers who would yell phrases like 'Better dead than red!' or 'Fucking pedophile!'. Some Cazatnians went to the extreme and killed ex-communist soldiers. Security was increased when word of the President's visit reached the ears of the Operation commanders.

In areas that had been deemed safer than others, loudspeakers were set up that would blare German industrial metal or anti-communist/fascist propaganda at different times of the day. These methods were controversial in the homeland but it was not a major issue, as these methods were used in other Cazatanian occupation zones. The first imports from the mainland had begun to arrive and they made life a little bit easier for both the Soryana people and the soldiers stationed there. Capitalism was beginning to take effect as charitable organizations from Cazatania began helping the military with its aid and reconstruction efforts and small Cazatanian-owned businesses began springing up around the country, providing luxuries that would hopefully improve the 'morale' of the people.
Things that the communists had previously banned, such as drugs, guns and brothels were re-introduced in Cazatanian occupation zones in an attempt to bring back a living image of the pre-war Soryanastan. Billions were being poured into Soryanastan in an attempt to turn the nation into a monarchist mirror view of Cazatania, and not a mirror view of the fascists and communists that had been imposed on so many other countries.
