Conserative Morality

"So, Hostus, how is Propesita going?" Decimus smiled, circling the holograph. "Well, Decimus, as you can see, some of the smaller rural farming areas are still putting up a fight, they still think that the reason that the urban areas fell was because of their 'moral failings', or some other garbage like that. Although I'm pretty sure we can handle it, between the restaffed Legions and the First Battalion, we can subdue them." Decimus nodded. "That's good, I suppose. But how are we going to get the Senate back together? Should these people still be allowed to vote? I mean, do you think-"
"I think that there won't be a Senate after this." A voice echoed from behind him. Turning around, Decimus immediately recognized The General's tattered Rain Jacket and arm patch. "Gneaus. Good to see you again, but what do you-"
"Keep it 'General'. I mean that the Senate barely could keep it in line before. You really think they can keep it together after this?" Decimus frowned at him, crossing his arms. "New men in the Senate, new faces, new minds, better men, men who can-"
"Sorry Decimus, but he's right. The Senate can't keep CM together anymore."
"You too Hostus?"
"I'm sorry Decimus. The Senate was weak from the start. We need a stronger central figure, a man who puts on a face for all of CM, a strong central figure."
Decimus nodded. "Of course, we can always bring back the old office of 'President', but the Senate would-"
"Decimus, you aren't thick. Stop acting like you are. We're talking about an Emperor." Decimus, his faced twisted in shock, took a step back. "No, you can't be serious! An Emperor to be feared and despised, a man above the will of the people, a tyrant! No better way to trample every idea behind democracy!" Gneaus scoffed. "And tell me, where did that get us to? I'm not sorry in the least, but our vote is 900 to 50, in favor of an emperor, if that's any consolation to your 'democratic' notions. I would have preferred to just appoint the damn fool." There was rage in Decimus' eyes as he swiveled around to confront Gneaus. "And I suppose that person would be you? Let might make right, eh general? " If the General was shaken by this, he didn't show it. "I don't consider myself a fool, and the soon-to-be Emporer is in this room." Decimus turned once more to face Captain Hostus, surprise written all across his face. "Hostus, how? Why?"
"Goddamnit, Decimus, stop being so thick! You know who's going to Emporer, and it isn't me or Hostus."
"Wha-, me? I can't! I'm no good in positions of authority, I mean..."
"Decimus Valerius, born in Five AA. Credentials: Graduated from the sixty-sixth Legion's camp, passed basic telekinesis aptitude scan, family with long military history. Has had six commanders eliminated and has taken field command each time. Shown incredible aptitude for command, performing well under situations of extreme duress. After each incident, he transferred to a new Legion, preferring to start over in a new Legion, stating "History of Family service" for each new Legion. Opting to keep his slate clean, he has been recommended for promotion to Legatus Legionus twice. When and if Decimus is released from special duty with the Moralite Shock Force, promotion should be carried out."
Hostus closed the file in his hand. "Really then?" Decimus shifted "And why me? Why not someone with some experience? I'm not qualified to run CM!"
"People listen to you. People like you. You have common sense. Something sorely lacking. And best of all, you don't want to be Emperor."
"So, I have no choice in the matter?"
"No choice at all, my poor Decimus. Or should that be, my poor Emperor?"
"That went better than I expected." General Gneaus muttered as the door closed behind Decimus. "Indeed. I was expecting him to take it a lot harder than that. Of course, he hardly even realizes how he's been practically in charge of the operation from square one."
"More important things to think about I suppose. Already starting out like an Emperor."
"Well, let's start broadcasting it. Send it out, and pray to the gods that we don't lose everything we've worked so hard for..."
Official message from the military government of CM
To: The citizens of CM, and all nations interested in the affairs of CM.
After a long and hard struggle, we have finally united all of Conserative Morality. We wish all of you good health and good fortune in the coming months, but the purpose of this message is not to wish you good luck, but to inform you that the Senate no longer exists. As you know, the entire Senate was killed, what you do not know, is that they will not be reformed. The Senate is dead. Only a strong man, a man of power, authority, for a nation divided cannot stand, but collapses onto itself. A man must be appointed, a man who has the interests of our great nation at heart. The Coronation ceremony will occur in two days, in the ex-Senatorial chambers, which will be converted to the Emperor's throne room. Any foreign dignitaries must announce their arrival and await aproval before arriving. Long live the Emperor!
