Monteluci Ducareale: Saloon for Heads of State, Executives

Van Luxemburg

(OOC: 56K warning, in case it is still necessary. This car is a competitor to the Mercedes-Benz S-class and, most importantly, the Maserati Quattroporte. Armoured version in post #2, and the specifications and prices have also been added in text form in case the images don't load. IC response can be done in the form of individual orders, sales reports of this car in your nation, news messages, tests that appeared in your automobile press, etcetera etcetera. OOC response is of course also possible, but I generally prefer OOC questions via TG or MSN. Thanks to Mattia Mariani for the awesome design, once again, as well as naming the colours. Thanks to Russkya for co-designing the E/VIP version!)

VENEZIA – Monteluci presents the Ducareale. The luxury sports saloon can compete with the finest of cars that are currently in production throughout the world: It will join the illustrious line of luxury vehicles Monteluci has produced in it’s 101-year history. Passione per gli Automobili in the best way.

Following the recent success of the D-segment Duca, Monteluci was faced with the task to develop a new automobile, nicknamed ‘Progetto Minerva’. It would be a luxury machine, combined with the sportive aspirations that make the Duca. No less than 5 new engines were developed, including one ecologically-sound EcoDrive version. The top-of-the-range V12 SFS will have a world-first: Mass-produced carbon-ceramic brakes will be standard on this vehicle. Next to this, a revolutionary suspension system will be standard on the Ducareale. Once again, an armoured VIP version will become available, especially suited for heads of state and captains of industry around the world.

Revolutionary suspension system

The Ducareale called for the design of a completely new platform, which was designed with top-of-the-line sportivity and unparalleled comfort in mind. Soon, Monteluci engineers realised the current suspension systems were unsatisfactory for the Ducareale. Sospensione Elettromagnetici Versione 1(Short: SEM1) was the result of this: It uses the traditional shock-and-spring setup, but the engineers added a Linear Electromagnetic Motor (Motore Lineare Elettromagnetici), which can extend and compress at much greater speed than conventional fluid-based dampers, since they are not limited to the natural inertia of these dampers. This whole system is supplied by an amplifier, which regenerates power from each time the suspension compresses. This makes the system tremendously power efficient, and makes driving both comfortable and sportive, by rapid reactions made to counter bumps and holes in the road surface. This keeps the vehicle completely straight and stable at all times, up to the level the individual owner desires.

The advantage of this computerised system is not only the rapid reaction to the road surface: the system can be programmed to the individual needs of the customer, if required. This can be done by every official Monteluci dealership, simply by modifying several parameters with a special computer system. The system can be used to match several suspension setups used by cars all around the world, ranging from the Lotus Elise to the Rolls-Royce Phantom. In the unlikely case the system would fail, it can return to a default suspension setting.

New engines: the heart renewed

For the Ducareale, Monteluci developed no less than 5 new engines for the demanding customer. The car is available with 4 Petrol engines and 3 Diesel-powered ones, ranging in power from 180 PS to a staggering 650 PS.

The EcoDrive version is powered by the 1.8 BMD engine known from the Duca, delivering 180 horsepower. With several adaptations, such as increased streamlining, lowering and lightening the car, and has an ‘eco’ equipment setting like on the Duca EcoDrive. With these modifications, it will only consume 1 litre of diesel fuel per 19 kilometres, which is unheard of for vehicles of this size.

Furthermore, Monteluci offers an atmospheric 4-litre V8 petrol engine, known from the Duca SFS, developing 400 horsepower. A 4.7 V8 is also offered, being a modified 4-litre engine, now developing 470 PS. The same engine has been equipped with the highly advanced Biturbo technology from the Duca, boosting power up to 550 PS.

Next to this, the Ducareale has two other diesel-fuelled engines, being a 4-litre V8 diesel engine developing 390 horsepower, and the top-of-the-range Diesel, the 5.2-litre V10 engine producing a massive 510 horsepower.

However, the top-of-the-range model is the V12 SFS, a 6.5-litre beast already known from the Lepanto supercars, delivering a staggering 650 horsepower to the rear wheels. Carbon-ceramic brakes are standard on the SFS, and the car has been lowered to reduce drag. Furthermore, a small deployable spoiler has been added for extra downforce, and a subtle bodykit underlines the sportivity of this vehicle.

Standard equipment

The Ducareale is one of the most complete vehicles available on the F-segment market, coming standard with a satellite navigation system, including a 3D view parking camera that can park automatically, if required. Next to this, it has a radar-controlled adaptive cruise control, that can operate even in traffic jams, furthermore, it has a Rear Seat Entertainment System with a 10 inch monitor being centrally positioned inbetween the front seats. A large panorama sunroof covers some 80% of the roof, and can be made darker and lighter through an electro chromatic system, which is also used in the car’s mirrors. The rear passengers are blessed with heated and ventilated massage seats, like the front passengers, but can also make use of their own climate control, block out sunlight by window blinds on the rear window and the rear side windows (all electronic), and use pull-down tables to be able to do business while underway (a standard 220V converter is included for the rear passenger seated on the right, Van Luxemburger market only). The rear center console has been equipped with a cooled compartment in which two glasses and a bottle of wine or champagne can be stored. On top of this, another compartment hosts the controls for the electric moving action of the rear two seats, as well as the front passenger seat, allowing the rear seat passengers to set their own legroom.

The passengers all sit on luxurious seats that have been made from the best cows in Van Luxemburg, selected by Monteluci upholstery personnel and living in a field where sharp edges such as barbed wire are completely absent. The center parts of the seats have been made out of punctured quality leather, or, if desired, alcantara center parts. In the back, the boot is spacious and offers around 550 litres of dedicated luggage space, whilst also storing a full spare tire. With the Ducareale, a specially designed luggage set is standard, and was made specifically to exploit the large size and shape of the Ducareale’s luggage compartment.

On the dashboard, no effort has been spared to give the passengers a quality feel. It is covered by high-quality leather that is either coloured in the same tint as the rest of the interior, or dyed in a contrasting colour. The switchgear is made out of real titanium with a chromed decoration ring, and all have only one function: user simplicity. The standard entertainment system aboard the Ducareale is made up out of a single 7 inch touchscreen, with buttons that allow for quick access to certain areas of interest, such as the CD/DVD/Bluray player, radio, car settings or the navigation system. The system makes use of icons and graphics to increase simplicity, and the whole system is displayed in 1080p Full High-Definition, including the car settings and the navigation system. The audio system was supplied by Mark Levinson, and uses an array of several speakers to generate a fantastic sound, unrivalled in the market today. Next to this, the system has a hard drive of 500 gigabytes, allowing the owner to store his favourite music in MP3 format on the car’s hard drive. Interior decoration on the dashboard and doors comes in several exclusive wood, metal and composite material sorts, suitable to everyone’s tastes. As standard, the Ducareale comes with silver interior decorations.

The Ducareale is equipped with an electric handbrake, that can automatically engage as the vehicle is parked, and will disengage if the driver presses the accelerator pedal.

Meanwhile, the drivers’ cockpit is well-equipped with a heated and ventilated steering wheel finished in leather, that also houses controls for various systems in the car, including the adaptive cruise control and the onboard entertainment. A small colour information screen in the instrument cluster carries standard board computer information, while also allowing the driver to display the latest instructions from the navigation system, or the MP3 he is currently playing. Next to this, the Ducareale sports a Night Vision system with Head-up Display, that is also able to display speed and rev counter, as well as navigation instructions. This allows the driver to keep his eyes focused on the road, while also being able to check vital information. The rest of the instrument cluster uses a fairly conventional lay-out, with descriptions in Italian, analogue speed and rev counters, as well as water (Acqua), Oil (Olio) and fuel (Benzina/Gasolio) meters. These are all made by the famous Swiss company Jaeger-Lecoultre. On the dashboard, above the entertainment system, a central clock and several other meters (Press. Olio, Ampere, Volt, Potenza disponibile) have been placed, the clock being placed above all meters. The center console is slightly driver-oriented, making it perfectly operable.

Technical and Exterior equipment

Not only the SFS now has new technology in the form of carbon-ceramic brakes. All Ducareales are equipped with LED daytime running lights, and bixenon headlamps. These headlamps are adaptive, and can follow the car into a corner, illuminating the road ahead perfectly.

The brakes were made with the help of Brembo, and every Ducareale has 380mm brake discs all-round, with six-piston callipers in a single aluminium block. These provide superior braking power, and with the help of the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), ABS and EBD are coordinated in case of emergency. The Ducareale’s weight distribution is near-perfect, and the car uses a transaxle setup, in which the engine is placed behind the front wheels, essentially making the Ducareale a mid-engined car. A 48% front and 52% rear weight distribution is the result of this.

Electronic Power steering makes the steering precise and direct, and it takes only 2 360 degree steering wheel turns to go from the front wheels pointing extreme right to pointing extreme left. A special ‘city’ option is integrated, and can be activated at the push of a button: it makes the car extremely light to manoeuvre, and easy to handle in cities. A seven-speed semi-automatic gearbox, an in-house development of the company, is hooked up to the car’s engine as standard, and can be operated in manual (using the stick to shift up and down), semi-automatic (using the + and - flippers behind the steering wheel), or fully automatic mode (no actions required). Settings for special circumstances (Grip, for a more active Vehicle Dynamic Control, or F1, for a more sportive feel to the vehicle.)

The Ducareale comes standard with 19” wheels, ‘Veloce’ bi-spoke style. An option is the 20” ‘Moiano’ wheel style, offering both a classy and sportive look to your Ducareale. The car is also equipped with a keyless-go system, in which the driver can approach the vehicle with the key in his pocket, open the door without pressing the ‘open’ button on the key, and then press the starter button to unleash the full force of the Monteluci engine.
On the outside, Monteluci stylists have also added several chromed details, to underline the classy appearance of the vehicle. These include the door handles and the window surrounds. The mirrors are made out of carbon fibre, to make them extremely light. Next to this, they can be heated and folded electrically, to aid in the comfort the driver enjoys. The rear lights are equipped with LEDs as standard, to increase safety both at night and at day,

Safety

The Ducareale is a remarkably safe car, and has a true range of airbags safeguarding the driver and his passengers, including front and side airbags for the rear passengers. The Ducareale also has a bonnet made out of soft materials, and lifts up several centimeters upon collision with a pedestrian. A small airbag deploys from under the bonnet, making the impact safer for the pedestrian. Other safety amenities include ISOFIX attachment points for child safety seats in the rear seats and the front passenger seat, a front headlight washer system using high-pressure cleaning jets, and light and rain sensors that automatically activate the lighting and wipers respectively. A blind spot monitor (BSM) is also installed, and monitors movement in the drivers’ blind spot, warning him of possible dangers.

Pricing, Guarantee and availability

The Monteluci Ducareale is conveniently priced at prices starting from $75,000 (excluding local taxes) for an EcoDrive version, while one needs to bring $160,000 to take a Ducareale SFS home. The vehicle is remarkably well-equipped, and only several options are available: a 4D Four wheel Drive system is available at the price of $2,200, the 20” ’Moiano’ wheels are installed under a Ducareale at the cost of $1,500, and a factory pick-up, including a driving course at the Moiano track, being priced at $600 for clients located in the Grand Duchy of Van Luxemburg, and $2000 for international customers, including an airline ticket and a hotel stay in Venezia. Monteluci maintains a 5-year Guarantee period for the Ducareale, regardless of the kilometres driven. 5 years of guarantee is given on the paint, excluding damages made to it by accidents or parking incidents. Furthermore, Monteluci guarantees that the Ducareale will be devoid of corrosion for the coming 15 years.

The Ducareale is available at every local Monteluci dealership, and every dealership should have a demonstration model available. However, seeing that the Ducareale is an expensive and exclusive vehicle, partially handcrafted in the Monteluci factories, the timespan between order and delivery of a vehicle is at least 3 months.

DUCAREALE VIP, The ultimate protection underway.

VENEZIA – After the relative success of the Duca ‘E’ and ‘VIP’, Monteluci has made the decision to modify the Ducareale in such a way that it can also be used as an armoured vehicle. The Ducareale is meant for heads of state and captains of industry that desire ultimate protection when underway. It was jointly developed with the Russkyan company Kolma OBORFAB, under guidance of the Taganrog Institute.

The Ducareale VIP makes use of the 4.7 V8 Biturbo engine, that produces 550 PS (Other engines available on request). The chassis, coachwork, brakes, engine and suspension all have been severely modified to withstand the increased weight and stresses put on a vehicle produced for high-level VIP transport. Since the SEM1 system can easily stabilise the vehicle, even at massive weight, the system was left unmodified, and has even been tested with the vehicle driving with only 3 wheels (to simulate one wheel lost to mine damage) The Ducareale VIP is assembled in a special department of the Moiano factory grounds, handbuilt by the best experts available, next to it’s Duca counterparts. The advantages of the complete construction of the car is the advanced integration of the armouring in the design of the Ducareale.

To allow the VIP to carry a security officer on the front passenger seat, the footwell there has been modified to allow a passenger to store a compact assault rifle or submachine gun, such as the Heckler & Koch MP5, Beretta PM12 or SIG SG552.

Defensive Systems:
The Ducareale, as produced by Monteluci's Moiano factory, incorporates a number of survivability measures developed by the Taganrog Institute and Tanovgorod Arsenal. These components are manufactured by Kolma OBORFAB. These are essentially the same as on the Duca E and VIP, as presented earlier.

Beginning with the basics, the vehicle is painted with a five millimetre (5mm) thick coating of OVR fireproof paint. This provides protection against open flame and incendiary devices such as the umbiquitous napalm and white phosphorous, at temperatures up to 1800°C for as much as thirty minutes. This coating helps to protect the vehicle from the famous "Molotov Cocktail," which could easily be used by crowds of protestors or aggressors making attempt on the vehicle and its occupants.

Specially developed Pirelli tyres are fitted to the Ducareale VIP. These are run-flat-capable kevlar reinforced tyres proofed against common handgun and submachinegun calibres ranging from 9x18mm to .45ACP. A side benefit of the reinforced tyres is that when inflated at low pressures, the vehicle is more able to cross soft terrain such as sand. Combined with the fifteen centimetre (15cm) ground clearance, the Ducareale VIP are provided with a measure of off-road or rough-road capability.

A combination electronic countermeasure and electromagnetic protection system (ECM/EMP) provides protection against mines and explosive devices equipped with magnetic fuzes. The electronic countermeasures consist of a radio signal detector and the MRKS-32 all-frequencies local area jammer coupled to a defensive systems computer. The signal detector operates independently of the radio jammer and exists only to warn security personnel of abnormal radio signals. The jammer and detector operate on the LF, MF, HF, VHF, and UHF frequency bands. The computer can be programmed to allow or prohibit certain frequencies so as to allow the reception of local radio stations on the AM/FM bands, the communications equipment of the security personnel, and so on. The local area jammer creates an oblong safe zone measuring twenty-five meters (25m) to the sides and forty metres (40m) to the front and rear of the vehicle, in which no radio/cellular telephone signals can be received. This prohibits the use of most command-detonated explosive devices.

The electromagnetic protection component of the ECM/EMP system generates a large circular magnetic field around the vehicle, out to thirty meters (30m). This convinces magnetically-fuzed explosives that the vehicle is within the blast radius and causes a premature detonation of the explosive. As the vehicle draws nearer to the munition, the field increases in intensity, to a maximum of four times the vehicle's actual magnetic signature at a distance of ten meters from the vehicle. To protect the occupants of the Ducareale VIP from the dazzling laser used on the Duca E and VIP versions, the windshields are tinted with an anti-dazzle reflective material, not particularly dissimilar to a two-way mirror

Armour Protection:
In order to provide optimal protection for the Ducareale VIP, a careful choice of materials was a necessity. The Taganrog Institute determined that protection against kinetic energy (KE) threats would be the priority, as no vehicle of this type could be built to survive a chemical energy (CE) attack which could be expected to include, at minimum, the ubiquitous PG-7 or PG-7V rocket.

Armoured bulkheads separate the boot from the passenger compartment and supplement the firewall which separates the engine compartment from the passenger spaces. These bulkheads make use of a high hardness steel plate 10mm thick, backed by a 30mm thick carbon-chromium-molybdenum perforated plate encased in hardened rubber. The perforated plate is then backed with 5mm of ductile steel and a 10mm kevlar liner. The overall thickness of the armour scheme is 55mm and provides multiple impact protection against threats up to 15.5x115mm from any range. Further protection for the engine is provided by 30mm thick panels (5mm high hardness steel face-plate, 20mm perforated tungsten-molybdenum plate encased in ductile steel, backed with 2.5mm of kevlar provided with a 2.5mm thick epoxy coating) applied to the hood, side-panels, and behind the bumper. Air intakes and vents cannot be armoured.

100mm of space was allocated to the designers of the armour package at the Taganrog Institute. A 5mm hardened steel plate is spaced 15mm from the primary armour package. The armour package consists of a 40mm thick tungsten-molybdenum-chromium perforated plate (mesh) encased in hardened rubber for ease of handling. 5mm of kevlar coated in 2.5mm of epoxy backs this, to which a 10mm ductile steel plate is installed. A synthetic spall liner (15mm thickness) completes the armour package. The total armour package, including void space, is 92.5mm thick. Perforated plate (mesh) provides multiple impact resistance as any cracks caused in the plate will terminate at the nearest perforation. Perforations in the plates used on the Ducareale VIP are 6.5mm in diameter.

Underside protection is provided by a V123 HF titanium-vanadium-aluminium plate, shaped to create a very shallow V. At its maximum depth, the distance between the apex of the formed plate and the ground is 15cm. This assists in deflecting any underside blast, though the limited angle available due to the dimension restrictions means that it will be less effective than comparable plating on a combat vehicle such as the R-18ISC. Ballistic plastics backed by a ballistic fabric (synthetic-lined kevlar) prevent spalling of the V123 HF TVA plate into the transmission and other drivetrain components. Windows are manufactured of Aluminium Oxynitride (AlON).
Tyres are designed to fly clear of the axle when they are struck by the force of an exploding landmine. This reduces transmitted shock to drivetrain components and makes it easier to repair the vehicle in the field. When half-filled with water, the tyres can further reduce the effects of landmine blast. This principle of protection is widely used in the Russkyan military.

Overhead protection is provided by the armoured roof. The roof armour package consists of V123 HF titanium alloy plate (10mm) covering a series of 10mm thick boron-carbide ballistic ceramic tiles encased in five millimetres of ductile steel. This is backed with 10mm of epoxy-coated kevlar. The entire armour array has a line of sight thickness of 35mm and protects against 15.5x115mm fire. Protective effect is enhanced by certain operational considerations; engagement of the plate at a perpendicular angle is not possible as that would require being directly above the vehicle to fire down onto the roof. Therefore, any engagement of the overhead armour protection will occur at an oblique angle, allowing the "sloped armour effect" to assist in countering the projectile.

The Ducareale ‘VIP’ is costly, at a price of $600,000 USD. Monteluci however thinks that it is worth it for a vehicle that can protect VIPs even in the most extreme situations, while also being able to defend it’s passengers to the fullest degree. A variant to the Ducareale ‘VIP’ is the ‘VIP L’, a somewhat lengthened Duca (+50cm) which can serve the role of an extended VIP vehicle, as it offers more legroom and the features of the normal ‘VIP’ version, while also offering space for up to 4, or even 6 passengers (including the driver). In this version, fold-up seats mounted to the back of the front seats offer space for more guards, if required. These folding seats can also be used as footrests for the rear seat passengers, if required. The price for the Duca ‘VIP L’ is $640,000.

Official Message From Alexander Kirillovich Kazansky, President of the United States

Ah, the glorious quality of VLT products. Though I think Allanean Arms does better SUVs, (pardon me, I own stock in it) nobody does a luxury vehicle quite like the the Van Luxemburgians. Allanean luxury vehicles are toys with high speed ratings and lots of shiny gear – but Van Luxemburgian luxury vehicles are works of art that can be fully appreciated only by men of true taste.

As such, I request a pair of Monteluci Ducareale V12 Squadra Forze Sportive cars with four-wheel drive, painted jet-black. Have the interior done up in Pelle Onda and Nero Pianoforte, respectively. I will be more than glad to pay 340,000 dollars for these wonderful cars, and will be happy to endorse the products of your lovely company.

Additionally, I would like to donate fifty billion dollars out of my [ur=http://z12.invisionfree.com/Allanea/index.php?showtopic=71]personal funds[/url], to be earmarked for research of additional excellent vehicles, as I am sure are bound to be created by your company.

Thank you for your excellent service and worksmanship. God bless you.

Special Edition: Monteluci Ducareale Edition 188

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b76/VanLuxemburg/tipo188le.png
The commemoration plaque featured in the interior of the Edizione 188.

To commemorate that the last Tipo 188 racing car still roadworthy was found 20 years ago, in 1989, Monteluci offers a new limited edition of the Monteluci Ducareale: The Edition 188.

In 1936, Monteluci constructed the 12th Tipo 188, the last one to be built that year, and one of only twenty-four ever to be constructed. It was a rally version, one of just 6, and could transport a driver and a navigator at high speeds to the finish line. It participated in several Mille Miglia’s worldwide, winning most of them. However, it was most successful in Van Luxemburg itself, where it won nearly all road rallies to be driven at the time, dominating the industry in the late 1930’s.

The car was equipped with a 3-litre V8, making it eligible to take part in the Grand Prix’ of the days. The V8, backed up by a powerful Fiorentini-built Supercharger, spat out an amazing 388 horsepower. (Fiorentini used to have a line of performance motoring products, but nowadays, the company focuses solely on the production of military-grade small arms)
The Tipo 188 was capable of attaining speeds well over 300 kilometres per hour, quite logical when the vehicle weighed around 800 kilograms and was powered by an engine that was almost as large as the entire car. Former Tipo 188 navigator Silvio Cattaneo once said that it was completely impossible to read the rally instructions when the vehicle was doing 300 kilometres per hour at around 6000 rpm, because the sound was truly deafening. It was also dangerous to get out of the car at the driver’s side (left side), simply because of the fact that the exhaust ran right under the door and became so hot, that one was certain of third-degree burning when touching it. And even though the car was reasonably reliable, it often suffered from fuel line problems and was particularly sensitive to low octane ratings, often stalling the engine when octane ratings below 96 RON were used in the two 60-litre tanks that were carried in the back of the vehicle.

No. 12 was originally commissioned by Gilberto Monteluci, who himself was too old to still engage in racing. Instead, he contracted Andreas Herrmann, together with Silvio Cattaneo to race the car, being particularly successful in the Arvaglio-based Van Luxemburger Tour rally. During World War 2, it was hidden in a farmhouse near Pavignano, to make sure no-one was able to loot the vehicle. However, as the war progressed, Gilberto Monteluci died, 63 years of age, meaning he took the secret location of the vehicle with him into his grave. Only in 1989, the car was found by the new owner of the farmhouse, after he had been knocking down several walls for a reconstruction of the house. As it was made known that the car had been found, Monteluci itself was quick to buy the vehicle, and ordered the vehicle to be restored in it’s former glory. Since then, it has participated in several classic rallies, and is currently believed to be the only rally version of the Tipo 188 still alive.

Currently, only 4 Tipo 188’s are believed to be in existence. The first one to be ever built, and also the most successful, is in possession of the Grand Duke of Van Luxemburg. A rally version, no. 12, is owned by the factory and is currently stationed in Venezia, no. 13 is currently exhibited at the National Automobile Museum in San Giustra, and a fourth car, no. 20, used to be in driveable condition and in possession of the Walter family, but the vehicle flipped over and landed in a ditch several years ago, injuring the driver. Since then, it has been in restoration, but suffers from a lack of available parts. Since then, only two vehicles out of 4 are still in driveable condition, being the Monteluci-owned and the Grand-Ducal Tipo 188. The San Giustran 188 has not seen the outside world for nearly 40 years, and is probably in need of a complete body-off restoration, in order to make it driveable.

Now, Monteluci offers the Edition 188, a model of which only one-hundred and eight-eight will be made, as the name implies. The Edition has been based of the only vehicle worthy of bearing the name and with an engine similar to the one in the original racing car, the Ducareale V8 Biturbo. It features an all-new bodykit, which underlines the sportive ambitions of the vehicle. The outside is coloured in a special metallic white, Bianco Pavignano, with several dark blue accents around the grille, air intakes and mirrors. The headlights have a ‘smoke’ look, adding to the sinister atmosphere that surrounds the vehicle. A special ‘188’ logo, together with a silhouette of the Tipo 188 racing car, are placed on either side of the car, just underneath the side air intake. It features titanium-coloured multi-spoke wheels that remind the world of the original Borrani wire spoke wheels used on the original. In the interior, the vehicle features a calfskin/alcantara combination interior in a unique blue tint that is the same as used for the exterior accents, along with piping in a contrasting white colour. The interior decoration strip is coloured in Bianco Pavignano once again, and features a commemoration plaque for the Tipo 188 racing car and the number of the particular limited edition car (1-188), as well as the name of the owner. The car silhouette is also embroidered in the headrests.

The Monteluci Ducareale can only be picked up at the factory in Venezia: delivery is not possible. With his visit to the Monteluci factory, the new owner will not only receive the keys to his new vehicle, but he will also get a certificate signed by company owner Alfredo Monteluci, and he will be granted a short drive of the Moiano test track in an original 1936 Tipo 188, no. 12.

Obviously, the Tipo 188 cannot be ordered with other engines than given, and cannot be ordered in VIP or VIP L version. The Ducareale Tipo 188, with the V8 Biturbo engine, is available at a price of $185,000, all-inclusive. Monteluci reserves the right to refuse sales of Tipo 188’s to certain individuals, and will refuse sales that will allocate vehicles disproportionately.

Dear Mr. Monteluci,

Upon receipt and perusal of the invoice I noted that I am being charged for only one VIP - L and not the pair as I had originally requested. One is for me, the other being for my wife, as a wedding anniversary gift.

I have included a wire transfer for two, totaling $1322820.

Would it be possible for you to transfer this additional funding to the National Automobile Museum in San Giustra, as an anonymous donor.

Included will be found a second wire transfer for $188,000,000.00 – One hundred and eighty eight million with the request that what is needed of the monies go to the complete restoration of the 188 exhibited there. The remainder may be applied to any scholarship programs the Museum sponsors or into other restorations needed, or a general building maintenance and landscape fund as the museums board decides.

Additionally I would like to place an order for 3 Tipo 188 – One is for myself; the other two are to be wedding presents for my mother and her new husband. If possible could we have numbers 1,2,3? I would gladly pay a premium for such a privilege.

Sincerely,

Rob Hexx

I do not believe I have ever purchased from this company before, but I find myself absolutely fascinated at the quality exhibited by the quality of Van Luxemburgian vehicles. As such, I wish to purchase a single Monteluci Ducareale V12 Squadra Forze Sportive for the use of my household. I would like it painted white, the interior done in Pelle Sepia, and the decoration done in Nero Pianoforte.

Please have it delivered directly to the Indaris estate, twenty miles north of Angenteria City.

We are terribly sorry for our mistake. The sales representative on international duty has probably misread your order, and accidentally entered only one of two vehicles into our system. The second car is being integrated in the system as we speak, and will be finished only a day later than the original one.

Second, we would like to thank you for your gift to the National Automobile Museum in San Giustra, where one out of 24 Tipo 188's will now be restored to it's former glory, completely driveable. Even though your gift was indeed anonymous, as requested, we would like to invite you to take a drive with this particular 188 when it is finished. The museum directorate has also allocated some of the funds for several other restorations, including a recently uncovered Monteluci Pangea (1908) and one of the first ever VLT's, an L3 prototype built in 1946. Furthermore, there are plans to allocate some of the money to a nationwide history project, funded by all major players in the automotive sector, in order to make the Van Luxemburger youth more aware of the Grand Duchy's automobile heritage. Other plans include the complete translation of the museums' guides and brochures into 24 different languages, and hiring extra people to do guided tours around the museum. As you can read, the National Automobile Museum is extremely grateful to you.

We would also like to thank you for your order consisting of three Ducareale Edizione 188's. Sadly, we haven't been able to reserve the particular vehicles you requested, as numbers 1 and 2 were almost immediately sold on the domestic market. Instead, we would like to offer you the numbers 3, 11 and 12. We are currently reserving these numbers for you, as we currently have to cope with overwhelming domestic interest in this particular limited edition. We'd also like to ask you to be patient, as the wheels and bodykit are built to order for us and will take longer to complete than a regular Ducareale.

From: Andy Smith, Golzow Trade & Industry Minister, Golzow, near Astholm

In our nation of Golzow, within the continent, nation & region of Astholm, we would like to market your vehicle, the Monteluci Ducareale.

Our local distributors, Kilssen Automotive, would like to market this under the Buick and Holden brands, and for our market, a V6 engine is required, as although V8 cars sell well, there is a market for 6-cylinder or V6 models.

Your design is excellent and high quality, and our nation would like to distribute them.

Negotiations start now regarding this; bodystyles, specifications, trim levels.

We also wish to buy 300 4.0 V8 models, 150 4.7 V8s and 50 4.7 V8 Turbo specification models, and if there is a manual version available, that one too, please.

Our nation will not distribute the EcoDrive, or the V12 variants.

Thank you for your time.

Dear Sir,

We are excited about the fact that our vehicles can be exported to the region of Astholm, and will immediately start preparing for the launch of the Monteluci brand name in this region.

However, we would like to point out that, and I think this has probably been said before by one of our colleagues, we think that vehicles like this are inseparable with their brand names, and cannot be seen separate from the heritage these brand names have; We would like to remind you of the Edizione 188, which cannot be sold under any brand name, simply because it would make no sense to have a special edition car that is named after a racing car from another manufacturer.

If necessary, Monteluci can take the necessary measures to produce a 6-cylinder engined Ducareale, but the cost of this project would probably exceed the benefits, as an upcoming E-segment Granduca would fill the gap between the smaller D-segment Duca and the larger F-segment Ducareale. A V6-engined Ducareale would cannibalise the market for the Granduca, and would therefore not be a wise decision.

Our own proposal would be to let Monteluci itself or an endorsed distributor in your nation handle the sales of these vehicles, and let these decide on the proper steps to take in order to market the Monteluci brand in Astholm.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.
We have spoken to our manufacturers, and Buick and Holden have decided that rebadging your excellent Monteluci Ducareale will not be badge-engineered.

I should add that Astholm is a diverse continent of 40+ nations, including Astholm itself.

I can only speak for Golzow's automotive industry, and not the continent itself.

Alfredo, you are welcome to discuss in further detail how you plan to distribute and market your vehicles in Golzow with me, the Automotive Industry Board and the Import & Exports Commission.

Thank you for your time.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for reconsidering your position on the rebadging of our motor vehicles. Furthermore, I of course understand that there is a difference between nations on the continent of Astholm, but it would be impractical for our company to deal with individual distributors in every nation, and thus it would be beneficial to us to establish a single distributor for the whole continent.

From there, all commercial activities would be controlled by a single entity, endorsed by our factory. Dealerships are to be established across the continent, each of them owned and managed by local citizens. These dealerships would need to meet our quality demands and should pass inspections that will be done every once in a while. From there, a customer can order a vehicle of his choice, which is to be produced in our factory in Van Luxemburg. If possible, a vehicle that meets the customer's specification can also be retrieved from a database of new vehicles standing at local dealerships, or at the distributor, in order to speed up delivery. The local dealership will always be the customer's first and foremost company to turn to in case he has any complaints or experiences any problems with the car.

Marketing should be done by the distributor itself, but it is possible to use a set of standard marketing documents, adverts and TV commercials for this, all provided by our company. Monteluci marketing usually focuses on heritage, quality and the combination of sportivity and elegance offered by our vehicles.

Hoping to have provided you with enough information,

Alfredo, regarding continental distribution, I will get Astholm's automotive distribution minister to investigate this.

Some of our makers are interested in the possibility of joint ventures with you; in due course you will hear from them (they are based in Astholm)

Thank you for your order. Sadly, we do not allow indviduals to buy the entire production run of a limited edition. You can only order 1 (one) vehicle per person, and we do not allow an unfair allocation of automobiles to a certain person or nation. Besides, why would one need the remaining one-hundred and seventy-five vehicles when you only can drive one at a time? Therefore, we have decided to allocate one vehicle to your name, and ignore the order for the remaining vehicles. The vehicle you have ordered has been given a chassis number and is slated for production in two weeks. Shipping will commence two months from now, and the vehicle can be picked up at your local dealership after having made an appointment. All Monteluci vehicles are delivered with a 0km service, a full tank of fuel and a short instruction on how to use important features of the car. Manuals and related information will be located in the glove compartment. In case you have any questions, please contact the address above or mail us at a.monteluci@monteluci.vl

We wish you the best of luck with your new car, and urge you to follow the service intervals set in the manual and the sales brochure.

Dear Sir/Madam,

We are excited that we are contacted by an entity interested in improting our goods into Anghele. Please bear in mind that we maintain strict quality requirements for all our business contacts, though. However, we are afraid that we cannot design and produce special models for the Anghele market alone: the expenses and time required to specifically design a new model (such as the Duca or Ducareale) are too high for the vehicle to be marketed in a single nation. Limited Editions, as done in many nations across the world, are of course possible, since they do not require extensive testing as a new model would.

Automobili Lepanto can only be ordered by International clients through the factory in Venezia, or in the Monteluci/Lepanto flagship store. Anghele is no exception. Other limited models, such as the VLT Alzette and L8, the Monteluci Ducareale SFS, etcetera, can of course be found at several selected dealerships, since this is common practice in all the markets we currently export to. The Monteluci Ducareale VIP can of course be ordered from the dealership, and we have experience with this order system (VIPs have been ordered through regular dealerships in Van Luxemburg as well, seeing the customer sometimes has a very good relationship with the dealership in question, and prefers to order the vehicle from there.)

We will of course make the necessary arrangements for the import of VLT group vehicles in Anghele. This will include the design and production of relevant promotion materials. We hope our business relation will be fruitful.

"You know what I want?" Boris Rotorcraft asked, climbing into bed with Natasha.

"What is it?" Natasha purred, then smiled seductively. The champagne was the right idea - it certainly got him in a better mood.

"A new car. I'm tired of those rifle guys tooling around in their special luxury ZMW SUVs when all we've got are these old Bentleys," Boris said. "Oh, and you, of course."

Natasha laughed. "Hmm... I remember seeing an ad from VLT - remember those guys?"

"Didn't the rifle guys get rebuffed by them?"

"Yup!"

"Haha. We'll take 20 - why shouldn't we have twice as many luxury imports? We're twice as good..."

"You are, certainly. Mmm..."

"Only twice?" Boris asked in mock-horror.

Re: Monteluci Ducareale

I would like to place an order for 18 Monteluci Ducareale SFS automobiles and 2 Ducarelae Edizione 188 - one SFS for every member of the Board of Boris Rotorcraft, Inc, and one Edizione 188 each for myself and my close personal associate, Natasha Rotorcraft. The Edizione 188's should be in Rosso Riva, while the SFS models should all be in Verde Isola. Interiors should be Pelle Tempesta, with Eucalipto decorations in the two Edizione 188 cars and Olive decorations in the 18 SFS cars. Natasha and I will come to pick up the Edizione 188s when they are ready.

I will wire $3250000 from our account at Friedlicher Banking Group.

"Oh, is that what you call me?" Natasha asked, then mimed his voice. "Your 'close personal associate,' hmm?"

"Back to bed, Nat," Boris muttered, laughing.

Not even the sum of eighty nine billion universal standard dollars would cover the expenses of creating a new model ?

It wouldn´t have to be a new model every year, but only in periods of five years.

As to all the remaining conditions,we accept.

Thanks.

Re: Purchase

As it happens, you don't yet have any dealerships in our country - a problem easily rectified. We would like to set VLT up as a preferred automobile supplier for our corporate fleet, with dealerships in Seoul, Burtford, Tokyo, Saigon, Singapore, Manila and Port Moresby. Your dealerships would benefit from special lease arrangements with our employees. What vehicles would you recommend we import, keeping in mind that the majority of your customers would be approximately 50000 middle managers making ~$35000 a year, along with around 800 upper-level managers making ~$155000 a year?

Dear Sir,

We are very sorry for the delay in our reply. Our order book for the Ducareale is filling up rapidly, especially with domestic orders, and this leads to a slowdown in responses to other messages.

VLT (and Monteluci, for that matter) would be honoured to export vehicles to the named dealerships. Normal conditions apply - as always.

For the middle managers, we would like to recommend vehicles such as the VLT L3 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13204254&postcount=7), L5 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13231412&postcount=10) and Monteluci Duca (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=554076), if we use the 'year salary = car worth' as a rule of thumb. For the upper-level managers, we are looking at vehicles such as the Monteluci Ducareale (as presented here) and the VLT L7 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13231453&postcount=12). Of course, other vehicles, such as the L4 (in Convertible (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13204277&postcount=8) and Coupe (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13231198&postcount=9) bodystyles), L6 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13231438&postcount=11), L9 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13239785&postcount=14), L10 (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13239787&postcount=15) and Roadster (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showpost.php?p=13239789&postcount=16), can also be offered to interested managers.

Autovisioun is one of Van Luxemburg's leading automobile magazines, and known for it's writing about more high-class vehicles. It is not so much focused on testing 'budget' cars. The magazine claims to be independent, but obviously suffers from so-called 'Automotive Patriotism'.

Quattroporto Purificata: The Monteluci Ducareale Tipo 188 (V8 Biturbo)

It is not hard to find the gargantuan testing complex of the Automobili Monteluci S.p.A. From the Autobahn, a sign already directs you towards this monumental piece of history. ‘Autodromo di Moiano’ is a standard vocabulary definition for anyone who has indulged himself in the national racing history. And we will be going there today. Not to race the world’s most prestigious supercars, but to test Monteluci’s newest product: The Ducareale.

It is early in the morning when I get into my own VLT and take to the motorways in order to experience a day I’ve been looking forward to: We will be driving a Ducareale, the new 4-door luxury saloon from Monteluci. And not just the flagship of the brand’s line, no, we will be taking out the Tipo 188, a special edition car of which only 188 cars will see the light of day. And we can pick it up at Moiano, the place where the original Tipo 188 was developed. How suitable.

On arrival, our car already awaits us. Outside one of the historical pit boxes, we get to see the magnificent four door saloon – a Quattroporte, as the Italians would say – gleaming in the sunlight. Its brilliant white paint (Bianco Pavignano) really seems to be blinding the eyes, and the massive 20 inch Titanium-colour wheels indeed remind oneself of the historical Borranis, mixing perfectly with the vehicle colour. Two aggressive, smoked front lights look at you, almost begging to take her out for a spin. Round the back, double exhausts on either side of the automobile remind you that this beauty is not just to be looked at. Though not as fast as the V12 SFS, this four-door saloon is still capable of 311 km/h. Don’t forget that.

Inside, the changed interior breathes luxury as well as sportivity. The calfskin leather that lines the seats’ sides mixes perfectly with the Alcantara that covers the central seating areas of the upholstery, carefully wrapped around the sport seats that provide superior seating. In the back, the situation is really the same, but sadly enough only provides seating for two, thanks to the centre console continuing throughout the vehicle. Of course, the rear passengers are provided with the best luxuries Venezia could come up with – we absolutely loved the ability to move the front passenger seat from the rear. Furthermore, the passengers can take lots of luggage with them in the specially provided luggage set, that can carry 550 litres of baggage. Behind the steering wheel, All pieces come together. The luxury, the sportivity, the heritage. The interior has switches and buttons that are chromed and partly made out of titanium, while the dashboard has been made in the same leather as the seats, which looks exclusive to say the least. Another defining pro is the magnificent on-board entertainment system, which provides a sound and video experience at cinematic level. The downside of this is of course that it takes some time to get used to the overwhelming choice of options and settings, but even with the most default setting anyone can enjoy the rustique sounds of Ludovico Einaudi, a CD we found in the entertainment system. Strange.

The instrument cluster is a tasteful combination of new and old, with Jaeger-Lecoultre, certainly not a newcomer when it comes to clocks and measuring devices, providing traditional instruments for the Ducareale, which are then mixed with technology from Walter Autotechnologie. Under some circumstances, these analogue instruments have the tendency to reflect sunlight, especially with the sun in a low position and directed on the instrument cluster. Furthermore, the mirrors on the vehicles make use of an electro chromatic system that prevents the driver from being blinded by the headlamps of cars behind him.

But we are not here to admire the car it’s beauty. Behind the steering wheel, it only takes a push of a button to initiate the starting sequence. This means that the oil heating system starts feeding the carter with enough heat to quickly bring the oil to the required temperature, the instruments self-test, and, best of all, the V8 Biturbo in this particular Ducareale revs till 4000 rpm, producing a shout that can cut straight through your bone. And your soul, probably. Our tip would be to do this with an opened window or door, since sound isolation onboard this Monteluci is good enough for a house. Of course, the engine noise is present when you want it to be, but at cruising speeds, a complete sense of serenity overwhelms you.

Putting the 7-speed Semi-Auto in first gear is easy, especially considering you have so much options to do it. By the flippers behind the steering wheel, with the stick, or simply pushing the ‘Drive’ button to rely on the completely automatic transmission to do the work. As you accelerate, and the V8 Biturbo begins to climb into the revolutions, it seems as if all hell breaks loose. A mighty ottocylindri roar breaks the silence around Moiano, and the whining of the turbochargers further enhances the feeling of being in a spaceship that is accelerating to achieve orbital escape velocities. Within 10 seconds, 200 km/h lies within reach on the banked test track of the Moiano proving grounds, and if we’d let the 550 horses under the Ducareale bonnet continue to gallop, we’d approach the magical 300 km/h limit.

And the best thing of this all is, that you hardly feel anything of the bullet-like properties of this car. The special SEM1 system makes you feel nothing at all, as if I was flying. The special linear electromagnetic motors keep the vehicle level at all times, meaning it is extremely comfortable, but also eliminates all pitch & roll movements from the vehicle. And if that is not enough for the customer, the system can be tuned to their personal likings.

Of course, this SEM1 has a major influence on the driver characteristics. There is no roll whatsoever in corners, and the vehicle does not pitch in any way when accelerating or stopping. Even though this gives you a fantastic roadholding ability, it must be said that it also diminishes a bit of the purity of the Ducareale, since the driver does not have the opportunity to ‘feel’ the road as much as the average driver. On the other hand, however, the pedal response and steering feel is on a completely different level, with an unseen directness and responsiveness.

On the Autobahn, it is not very much different. It is possible to catapult to speeds well over 250 km/h without even noticing, and only a background roar reminds you of the engine’s potential when accelerating. Thanks to the Biturbo turbocharger construction, the vehicle has power readily available at every rpm, but is most at home when making higher revolutions. Combined with the silky smooth gearchanges by the gearbox in automatic mode, it is certainly not a punishment to drive hundreds at a time with this vehicle, and by the press of a button (being the ‘Sport’ mode button), it can then change into an aggressive carnivore, which eats corners for breakfast.

And, after a day of driving with the Ducareale, you certainly want more. The positive points certainly outweigh the negatives, and who wouldn’t buy it for its looks? However, Monteluci has proven they still have it, and continues their success after the Duca with the Ducareale. Points of improvement would be the visibility of the instrument cluster under some circumstances, and perhaps a bit more ‘feel’ in the electromagnetic suspension. And, despite Monteluci’s recent reputation in terms of reliability, the cars still suffer from quite some depreciation thanks to the pre-2007 Monteluci era. The Ducareale, however, is nothing but one of the best executives saloons to come out of any Van Luxemburger factory for a while.
