The Premier's Engagement [OPEN]

Tokyoni

"The fireworks are so beautiful," Nami Matsuda (http://www.nautiljon.com/images/galerie/artistes/high_and_mighty_color/high_and_mighty_color_35.png) said softly, looking over the balcony, resting her hands on her chin. And indeed they were; the entire historic center of Tokyo had been literally engulfed in fireworks by the government in celebration of Matsuda's safe return, and in honor of those brave individuals responsible for her rescue and destruction of the terrorist cell holding her.

Things remained tense indeed for the many citizens of the PRT, but tonight was a night to release their worries, if only just for now. "I can't believe I'm actually here," she said shaking her head, with a bit of a hint of a tear in her eye. "I mean, when I got shot down, I thought that was the end. And it was strange when I look back at it. My greatest fear back there wasn't anything they would have done to me, but just ... that I'd never see you again."

"Nami, I have to tell you," Raito (http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r271/midori_09/Yagami_Raito_bye_Midori_02.jpg) began, "As you know, I've had many difficulties in my life. But the hardest two nights to get through were these past two. Just the thought of those terrorists holding you; I was going insane. I couldn't bear the thought of never again seeing the woman who always embodied to me the essence of the -spirit- behind our revolution.

I can't stand to have you away from my side anymore. And from what you've told me now, and I've long known inside, is that you share this sentiment. You must realize, Nami, that I am a man with many enemies in the world. And the path ahead will not be easy for either of us, but if you are willing, I would very much like to have you at my side, aiding in orchestrating this new era of justice into the world."

"Of course!" Nami exclaimed.

"Now, had fate not thrust fame upon us both, a simple marriage would have sufficed, but of course, even in this country, or perhaps especially so, the media would be all over it. And naturally so; the wedding of a Premier and a Council Chairwoman is likely to draw such attention.

Realistically speaking then, we cannot of course be married simply overnight; though it is not as if such a contract truly means anything between us. And with this situation in Korea, I would not want our wedding to be marred with troubled times. Once the violence there has disseminated, then and only then shall we truly be wed. It would not be auspicious to join our hands in a time of such conflict after all.

But, again, the public will want something of a declaration; especially after yesterday's hasty news broadcast. It's quite possible the entire world is talking about us even right now. And so, to declare to the world formally our intentions, with your permission of course, I have arranged for a public Yui-no ceremony. The same priest who engaged and married my parents will be performing it.

I know this is a lot to ask, but would you accept this?"

"Yes." Nami nodded, "Of course I do... I still can't believe this is actually happening. It's so surreal really.

I mean, I never told you this before, because I thought you would find it stupid; but when I was fifteen years old, and 'Kira' first was being talked about... I admit, I had something of a major crush on the individual. I mean, I sound like a stupid schoolgirl or something even saying that, especially since it was just a name and an idea to me. But as I grew older, Kira always watched out for me. He risked his life to keep the world safe for all its upright citizens. He was a hero, and he saved my life at least twice.

And now he's asking for my hand in marriage. In so many ways, this is a dream come true. I want more than anything to be right there at your side as we bring about a new vision of justice to the world. And of course we will have enemies, but... I accept that. Whoever are your enemies are my enemies and whoever are my enemies are your enemies. We'll face this together, and we, and all our citizens will triumph."

Official Documentation
The People's Republic of Tokyoni

Attention all peoples of the world:

Premier Yagami Raito of our glorious People's Republic of Tokyoni has expressed his intent to eventually be wed to Chairwoman Nami Matsuda of the Okinawa Prefecture. In honor and celebration of this event, and the great accomplishments and legacies of these two noble leaders of our people, and their decision to join as one, an engagement ceremony has been formed, open to delegates from across the world, in our own spirit of global cooperation and harmony.

The engagement will be conducted in traditional Shinto style, in honor of the traditions of our people. Due to space constraints, seating for foreign delegates will be limited. Accordingly, no foreign journalism crews will be allowed on scene. Our own Sakura ENGLISH will be broadcasting, and sales of footage to foreign news corporations can be arranged.

As security is of a highest precaution in this matter, as in all times, no citizens of nations attempting military occupation of South Korea contrary to the Korean peoples' interests, or direct allies of these nations will be allowed within our nation. Citizens of other nations may apply to attend the engagement ceremony; requests will be honored upon a first-come, first-served basis according to the merit of the request.

The wedding shall be held on March 30, 2014; an auspicious day in Shinto cosmology, as two new moons occur in this single month, correlating to a strong aura of rebirth and new opportunities.

Any foreign governments wishing to send delegates to this most auspicious celebration of global unity are requested to send notice to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, regarding the nature of their request.

Sincerely,
Suzuki Katsuhiku
Minister of Foreign Affairs
Bavarian-Saxon Reiches
