New Martinique

NationState Times:
No motive is known so far for the French invasion of the Caribbean Island chain spanning from the top of South America to Puerto Rico. Last night, several ships from a European rebel group along with thousands of soldiers moved into the area, destroying any town on the islands that wouldn't surrender. The islands taken have been annexed into the new nation of New Martinique.
There wasn't much of a fight, but some resistance sprouted up during the takeover. One theory as to what the motive was is that they wished to take control of shipping in the area. Not much is known about what's going on in the Caribbean right now because radio communication with the islands is limited. While a poll taken recently shows that many people think military action should be taken, most nations are weary to step into this conflict because of the groups unstableness.
(What do you think of my nation's background story?)
