Captains Personal Log,
Starbase One, the Planetary Republic of the Hawk's first out of solar outpost. In orbit of a poteintial colony world in a system, four lightyears from home, Starbase one is the first time our people will be permenantly away from Home. And I've been given command of it. The Planetary republic has been out of the home system for a year and a half now, we've got twelve Valiant class ships across a twenty lightyear sphere, another twelve are expected this month alone as six months ago our scientists invented a new type of replication system that has enabled us to drasticlty increase our production, the only thing holding us back is, the construction time, the small amount of construction facilitys, currently twelve, and training a crew. That said, Starbase one will provide six more construction bays within a month of becoming active. The Starfleet is growing and we are spreading. Alright, I'm waffleing again now, Computer End Log
Captain Simon Leach, walked into Starbase One's operations centre. The clean and efficiant looking space was empty, waiting for a crew. Walking around the circular room, Simon took a moment to look at each console, before moving to the CO's station and logging on.
"Good Morning Captain" The Computer said "Welcome to Starbase One"
"Thank you computer" Simon said "What's the intizinalisation status?"
"Engineers have already been aboard and activated the reactors, power systems approaching 100%, reamining crew will be aboard from the Transports in thirty to fourty minutes" The computer reported.
"Good, thank you computer" Simon said, getting to work.
Executive Officer, Commander Suzie Sato, stepped onto Starbase one, through the airlock from the transport. She began to walk along the corridor towards a turbolift. THis wasn't her first deep Space assignment, she had served on the UHS Sentinal for a year and she was used to seeing a strange new world outside the ports. She smiled as she got to a turbolift.
"Operations" She requested and the Lift began to move.
MInutes later she arrived at Ops and stepped in. She spotted Simon at the console and promptly salutes. HE smiled and saluted back.
"Welcome aboard" He said
"Thank you, sir, good to be aboard" Suzie said.
"Indeed" Simion said "We are being hailed"
On the screen appeared a woman, Captain Elizabeth Langley, UHS Valiant.
"Look what the cat dragged in" She commented "Having fun on your space station?"
"But of Course, much more fun than scooting around space" Simion replied.
"YEa, right" ELizabeth said "We're on our way, we need a resupply, we'll be there in 90 minites"
"We'll be ready"
"I hope so" Elizabeth grined "Valiant out"
Simion turned to Suzie "Once the crews aboard prepare docking port one for the Valiant" He ordered and Suzie nodded getting about her work.

A small scout ship emerged from Ethereal Space, and began moving back and forth. A second and a third also appeared, and the trio began scanning the nearby planets. They moved planet by planet, testing only the atmosphere, before jumping back into Ethereal space to emerge above the next planet. The work was menial, but the scouts didn't mind, they were only droids. The scouts were moving closer and closer to the starbase, and soon were upon it. Realizing this was a military base, the scouts went into stealth mode and scanned the entire base, a much longer process. When they were finished they moved a significant distance away before jumping back into Ethereal Space to report to the nearest Imperial ship.
---
Capt. John Michaels was patiently waiting for the scouting reports when news of the scouts came in from the radars. Hurriedly walking to the bridge, Michaels was just in time to see a page uploading the information to the largest of the various holographic viewers in the bridge. Information about each planet came up, and was added to the ship's log, to be sent later the Department of Colonization for study. Then came the news of the starbase, causing most of the active crew to fall silent. After a matter of seconds a murmur rose, until one crew member decided to voice the general opinion and ask what the course of action would be.
"We have to report it and ask for reinforcement. We are going to colonize this section, and too promising to share with any other empire's. We'll blow up or take over the starbase and then use the planet's lush resources ti create better defenses. After all, if we can destroy the starbase, the Federation probably will be able to as well. So we'll need better defenses. But first forward a message to command asking them for clearance for reinforcements, as well as their general opinion. If we mess up, I want it to be with command's approval."
Michaels nodded and the crewmen and women hurried to work. If this was going to turn into a bloody campaign, Michaels didn't want to be the cause of it. So it was time to send an envoy to the starbase to meet with them and instigate war.

A console was beeping quietly in the Operations centre, the majority of the crew was aboard now, and OPs was bustleing with officers and NCO's. One of the younger officers, read the report and passed it onto his supiriors, just a unusual reading from nearby space, nothing serious.

A frigate emerged from Ethereal Space a safe distance from the starbase. The frigate began circling the starbase while a communications link was set up. Once it was safely established, a communication was sent to the starbase.
"Hello, this is an ambassadorial message from the Grand Heirosoloan Empire. You are in space designated for colonization. Because of current circumstances, we will either set up a deal, wait for you to leave, or obliterate you. To avoid misunderstanding, we wish to board the starbase and communicate with your commanders. That is all. GHES 'Ambassador 5' out.

"We can't allow colonization by another race, not this close to home" Suzie commented to Simon.
"I agree, open hailing..."
"Sir!" LT Commander Daniel Johnson at tactical said "We're being hailed by the Valiant, they've just dropped out of warp"
"Don't worry, we'll handle this" Was all Elizabeth said. On the viewscreen The Valiant could be seen near the frigate.
"Unidenified Vessel, this is the UHS Valiant, you are in space claimed by the Planetery Republic of the hawk, please leave immediatly" Elizabeth transmitted before closing the channel whilst they waited for a responce "What's the fleet status?"
"Command has redirected the Sentinal, the Guardian and the Samuri, the Defiant is off our bow wth us" Tatcial Cheif Vaughn reported "And we are running with shields up and phasers charged sir"
"Good" Elizabeth siad
"What's the stations weapons status?" Jenny asked
"They've got more powerful phasers than we do, and more torpedos and better shields, but most is kept behind a powerful thoron field, that ship out there should think the station is defenseless, well their in for a suprise ma'am"

The men on board the frigate glanced at each other.
"Are they complete IDIOTS?"
"I have no idea, but since there are military ships moving I think they intend to destroy us. Pah. Good luck."
"They said unidentified vessel. We identified ourselves."
"Apparently not well enough. Send them a message."
NUTS!
The frigate turned and jumped into Ethereal space, away from the starbase and it's military defenders.

OOC: I was refering to my ships and stations
"Alright, I'm not sure what to make of that" Jenny commented
"Agreed" Elizabeth said "It could be perhaps that they somehow figured they were out gunned by the Space Station and have gone for back-up"
"Perhaps, we should still get our ships here ASAP"
<Starbase One>
"Well, that went well" Simon commented
"Yes, almost too well" Suzie replied "I'm glad we had the Valiant and defiant en-route already"
"At least command protocals insist that any threat means that a good part of the starfleet heads our way at max warp" Daniel Johnson commented

[OoC; Righto. I see.]
The first thing to jump out of Ethereal Space and into Corporeal Space near Starbase 1 were the fighters. Small groups of fighters popped out, followed by frigates, each class of ships jumping into Corporeal Space larger than the last, up to the 'Behemoth' class war ships. Again the 'Ambassador 5' approached the starbase.
Insolent fools. You have sealed your doom. Prepare to be destroyed.
We could have worked out a deal diplomatically, but instead you chose to threaten our ambassadors. It would be the equivalent of us bombing a city full of civilians relentlessly. Now you will pay the price, as all who oppose us have.
The fleet sorted itself out, the larger slower ships accompanied by faster ships to keep them from being too heavily damaged. The fleet waited ominously silent and still. Every now and then a warship or support ship would jump into corporeal space, adding to the size of the fleet.

"Red Alert, All hands to battlestations!" Simon shouted as the fleet entered the area "Activate Point Defense Phasers" Suzie ordered.
The Stations shielda activated and the Thoraon feild dropped, showing the fair amount of weaponarry the station boasted.
"Lock the heavy shit onto the bigger craft, leave the fighters to teh PDP's and the frigates and smaller ships to the Valiant, Defiant and the Incoming fleet" Simon ordered.

The fleet began to surge forward, and as it did, another group of larger ships appeared from Ethereal space, moving to the front of the group. Once they reached the front, a large metal ring began to expand around the ship. Once it was done expanding, a large shield filled the expanse between the ship and the metal ring. It was an interesting tactic often employed by the Grand Empire, but one that worked most of the time. The shield ships hung in front of the smaller ships, which floated behind the shields. Groups of fighters swarmed in front of the shield ships, ready to attack any enemy ships that got too close.

[OoC; The frontal part of the ships is entirely destructible. It would be indestructible, but that would be godmoding, so you can blow up the actual ship and the shields would go away.]

OOC: Should I just have my ships find out the weakness or would it show up on sensors?
Heirosoloa

[OoC; Either way works for me. The front end is generally weakly shielded, so scanners would find that out.]

"Tactical, get me a firing solution" ELizabeth ordered
Vaughn nodded and entered commands "They appear to have weaker shields at the front, we should aim there"
"Make it so, Number one, tell the station what we found out" Elizabeth ordered Jenny who nodded "And don't fire unless they do first!"

"How fun." The small Baldur-class scout craft hung in motionless, refractive materials lining it's hull distorting the light around it, adding to the difficultly of visual ID, heat sinks absorbing the ship's expended heat and sensor jammers creating a hole in any sensors watching. "I got bets on the fleet."
"I dunno, battlestations are pretty badass."
"At any rate, we should probably tell Nav Com. I reckon they'd want to know of a possible power change on the border."
"On it already sir." The desk monkey tapped out a message that got sent through the relay satellites. After a few moments, a reply came back.
Reinforcements standing by. Send hail, ask whose claimed territory, relay.
"Very impersonal is command. At any rate, keep us cloaked, send a hail."

The crew on the bridge of the 'Ambassador 5,' which was being used as the de facto command ship for the operation, erupted into shouts when they heard the Battlehawk response to the Templarian ship. Angry shouts could be heard before the admiral calmed everyone down by slamming his hands on the hologram display, making it momentarily quiver before returning to a display of the battlefield.
"So they aren't threatened with war?"
"I guess they identified themselves better than we did."
"Let's hope they aren't descended from the same people, or they'll try to shoot an ambassadorial mission too."
"Alright, let's just send them a message telling them about what was going on."
"Agreed."

VTN Greyhound, this is the 'Ambassador 5,'of the Grand Heirosoloan Empire, acting command ship for the current military engagement. Our host ship, the military heavy cruiser 'Revolution' was doing a routine scouting report along the colony sector of our empire when we discovered that these intruders had set up a starbase within our borders. When we sent an ambassadorial mission to open discussion with them, they told us we were an 'unidentified ship' even though we had identified ourselves, and that we had to leave immediately because we were in their territory. There was no acknowledgment towards our ambassadorial mission. After that we determined they were sending military ships towards us, and so we jumped back towards our host ship. We gathered a fleet after that, and are now preparing to remove them from our colony sector.
You should be forewarned that you are dealing with imbeciles who we are not entirely sure know anything but military violence. We suggest you do not send any diplomatic mission towards the starbase, and that if you are not prepared for battle that you request backup from your homeworld. They seem to be capricious at best, threatening us and telling us to leave immediately, but letting you stay.
Also, we had never seen any indication of another sentient nation bordering this sector. If we are in your borders, we shall eliminate these idiots and promptly leave. We are sorry for any misunderstandings, and hope you are not destroyed in the process of removing these invaders. If you wish to contact our homeworld about diplomacy or trade, feel free to contact our ship after the military engagement.
Meanwhile, the Imperial fleet had continued to surge forward. As they closed distance and the enemy ships came into range, ion cannons began firing rapidly towards the Battlehawk's warships, followed by EMP missiles and swarms of fighters split between the warships and the starbase. The fleet made no move to intercept any enemy star ships with the actual fleet, but instead headed straight towards the starbase, quickly closing the distance to give their weapons more deadly power.

"Return fire!" Elizabeth ordered as the ship was rocked by enemy weapons fire.
"Shields at 89%, our shields protected us from those EMP's" Vaughn reported
"Evasvie pattern Theta two zero, fire on the nearest ship" Elizabeth ordered "Get me that ship that turned up, encyrpted channel"
"VTN Greyhound, we have been engaged by the enemy, they have attacked our ships in our space, we found this system unoccupied and unmarked, and with that in mind we claimed this system" Elizabeth said as they fired again "If we are inside your borders we will leave, however we shall require assistance in towing the starbase away, please advise"

"Weapon discharge, raising shields." The ship suddenly appeared on sensors, it's stealth system having all of it's power redistributed to the shields and weapons. A hull shimmered green for a moment before the shield faded out of sight.
"Requesting backup now." After a few seconds while the burst message was sent through the relays, klaxons sounded on the VTN Anvil, an Oppressor-class battleship waiting just inside the borders of the Empire. Captain Iral sat up in the command chair (http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z107/Kain1235/CommandChair.jpg) and spoke into the comm relay.
"All hands, we're jumping into a hostile zone. Shields and weapons to maximum power. Send word to the Rock and the Illiad, have them jump with us."
"Sir." The ensigns on the command deck went about their tasks. After a moment, a green Jump Portal opened in front of the craft, pulling it in.
The three battleships jumped out of warp just behind the Greyhound, weapons charged. The captains hailed each other.
"Greyhound, status? Who fired first and who's in the wrong?"
"Heirosoloans fired first. UHS seem to be in the wrong, from the information we've gathered sir."
"Very well. All ships, concentrate fire on the UHS ships. Shoot to kill, we're not scavving today."
The Templar ships opened up, the battleships firing their railguns then following up with salvos from their turbolasers while the smaller Baldur-class conserved it's ammuntion and moved towards the station, preparing a salvo of Starkiller torpedos for the station.

"Full evasives, take us back to the station" Elizabeth ordered as the VTN ships opened fired on them "Hail them"
"VTN Greyhound this is the UHS Valiant, we have done nothing to offend you, we do not understand why you have fired on us" Elizabeth siad "We do not want a conflict, therefore we shall not fire on your ships"
"Captain?!" Jenny exclaimed as they hail was closed
"You heard me, fire only on the ships that started this mess, tell the station to do the same!"
The Station fired for the first time. A withering barrage of Phaser and Torpedo fire at the Heirosoloanian ships.
