So, throughout my rp's, i've sometimes mentioned a company called "Gordonopian Enterprises". I don't know if it's a good idea or not, but I want to see if people think it might work to make a storefront. It's totally civilian, not military. It's more of a just for fun thing. The company has several divisions.

Gordonopian Games (Video games, I'm using this in the NS E3)
Mega Burger (You could get franchises, I don't know, it's just for fun)
G-Soda (Kind of like Mega Burger, but sodas)
Imperial Hotels (Gordonopias highest end of the large hotel chains, I guess i could sell the name rights)
GGN (Gordonopian Global News, I wouldn't use this in the storefront, but I might eventually make a news thread)
Gordonopian Mining (This is probobly the most useful of all of them, it mines Iron, Copper, Coal, and Diamonds. I could sell those)
GInsurance (This one doesn't have any purpose. I'm just listing it cuz it's gonna be on a GE website I'm making)
Deska Mart (A big retailer, I could sell franchises to I guess)
Gordonopian Bank (I dunno, you could store your money)
Gordonopian Automobiles (This one also has kind of a point, it makes cars. It already make the Gordonopian government's armored cars, so it could sell those and civilian cars to)
Gordonopian Mobile (This one has a virtual monopoly on the cell industry. The other small ones are controlled via controlling interest on the board by GE. I guess that I could sell cell service.)

Anyway, just tell me if this is a good idea. I was just bored, and thinking of a way to do. This either gonna totally flop, or do ok. If there are parts i could include, and parts I shouldn't just tell me that to.

It's totally civilian, not military.
That's refreshing, since there are already more aircraft carriers than people on NS.

Odd collection of fields to be involved in - finances, resource extraction, heavy industry, tech/entertainment, food, and tourism. If you explain how they came together, it would be interesting. Heck, who dominates?
Do keep in mind that civilian storefronts don't get much traffic - banks and cars get the most, with everything else there (except news, of course) being far behind (if not nonexistent). This might be more useful for a factbook, to be honest.

For the hotels you could offer to build an Imperial hotel in whatever nation and promise a boost in your nations tourists going their, as your international chain becomes more established you could have a slogan like "Tourists of the world know they can sleep easy in an empire of travel" and use that reputation as a selling point (also design a model for the hotel) and start linking NS tourism and run the occaisional Rp of people staying in such and such a nations Imperial hotel.

Well, I got the idea from using the parts of these divisions in several RP's. So, a few days ago while posting on spanish states NS e3 thing, I got the idea to combine them, and add a few new things, into a storefront. As for dominating, the largest divisions domesticly are the retailor, the restaraunt, games, the hotel, and the cars, with mining close by. Oh, i forgot to add the cell phone service provider that I came up with, I'll add it to the top.

I imagine the cell phone & video game companies may be fairly closely linked - both probably growing out of a tech offshoot of one of the companies - maybe the mining company?
I don't just mean dominating in terms of profits, I also mean how the company is organized. You've got an intriguing mix of firms in one big conglomerate, and I wonder both when that occurred and what industry is it 'known' for ICly - for instance, while General Electric makes around half its profits off financial services, and owns many media outlets, it's known primarily as a power company. Similarly, GM used to make a lot of money off real estate and other forms of finance (through GMAC), but it's still known as a car company first.

Ah, I understand

Well, the first of the divisions was a tie between the mining and the automobile, because the mining division used to mine oil, so they decided to merge and create a much more powerful company. They then bought out the hotels, because they already had a strong grip on their respective industries. From there, the other divisions were either aquired during recessions when they were cheap, or they were created. The games and the cell phone were one division, Gordonopian Tech, but they divided it into two branches in 2001 when the cell industry grew rapidly.

In terms of what the company is 'known' for, it's probobly a tie between the cars and the hotels, with the games in a close second. All three are by far the dominant company in their respective markets, but these ones are more of household names. Their cars make up about 86% of all of the nations cars, the hotels are by far the largest chain, and the games makes the only major console in the country. The others divisions, with the exception of the cell phone and GGN, are all big competitors, but either have some large competition, or are beaten by only a small number of companies.
