They had been cut off from all communications for 5 days now, and had been there for 10 days. They had set up an outpost with their backs to a cliff, only 20 surviving ODST’s but all of Cedric’s Spartans were safe. They had barricaded the area with machineguns and still had 3 warthogs, 2 fitted with machine guns and the other with a rocket launcher.
“Aiken! Get a hog and a marine, we’re going out to scout,” said Cedric over the comm.
He shouldered his sniper rifle, and kicked at a pebble waiting for a response.

OOC: By the way, mind responding to the Spy Center thread? It's been totally stopped, basically, waiting for your response. I've very curious about how a McLaren F1 could be acquired by an above-average member of your armed forces, when your country is in such dire economic ruin.

Oh, and what's a Marine? Seriously, I dunno in this wacko Halo universe. *backtracts and reads the whole OOC thread*

IC:

Aiken sighed. Cedric's such a moron. He hadn't been very happy the way Cedric had handled himself. Thinks he's the prince of the universe... we should just hand over everything to him! He snorted, unfortunately on radio, and responded. "Whatever!" He walked over to this new Marine he had met, Vic (OOC: At you Salzland!) "Cmon, the idiot wants us." He hopped into a nearby warthog with what appeared to be a machine gun. "Don't be shy."

ic:

Cedric saw the warthog pull up.

" Get out Vic," said Cedric hopping into the driver's while Vic got into the shotgun.

"Aiken, keep your eye's peeled, watch out for camo elites," said Cedric activating a thermosensor.

"Seems that way, sirs." Luke popped up from behind cover, holding the rocket launcher. "And from here, you don't need to worry about elites, if I may sir. They can't shoot over range for shit, mostly 'cos most of them don't have Beam Rifles. It's those birdbrain Jackals that'll get you."

'Figures the LT bought it on the way in,' thought Victor Hughes. 'He was the only one of us briefed on this mission,' he continued, sparing a brief glance at the Spartan driving their Warthog. For days they had been led across this God-foresaken planet, as part of an ONI special operation that only the platoon LT and the Spartans had been briefed on.

Now that the LT was dead, trying to pry mission details from these Spartans was like squeezing blood from a stone. It wasn't that he had anything against them personally; the UNSC needed every good man and woman under arms that it could get, and the Spartans were the best. But the way they acted- they were almost like robots. They kept to themselves, didn't bother to interact with the Helljumpers unless it was to issue an order, and barely spoke more than five words during those few times when they had to order his men around.

Which led to the present situation. Vic had no idea why they ordered him on this patrol, considering he was the senior Helljumper on site. He hoped the two Spartans accompanying him were either going to brief him, or at least show him something relevant to their mission. Because co-operation was the only thing that could possibly allow them to accomplish their goals.

Their transport, an ONI Prowler-class stealth ship, had cut communications five days earlier. If they were lucky, the ship had just gone dark to avoid a passing Covenant patrol. If they weren't, then they were either going to be fighting off a massive Covenant invasion, or their tranpsort had been detected and destroyed. Though prior to the mission ONI had assured them that no Prowler had ever been recorded destroyed, the ambiguous wording of the spy's promise left Vic feeling more unsettled than anything else.

As UNSC protocols made it clear that the Spartans would have operational control over this mission, Vic had little to do except wait and hope that one of these super-soldiers would see fit to include him, and what was left of his men, in this operation.

Donald was digging graves for the dead by digging a hole with his SMG + planting a grenade inside, followed by wondering why they were never issued shovels, food, fuel, or even basic medical supplies, just tons of ammo...

He then went to the "kitchen" which was just a large pit in the ground with a grass-pile, water, and a flamethrower...

While that was happening, he was reviewing how to treat a bullet-wound to the head /w/ CPR, how to remove a needle/spike with bullets, using plasma-grenades in place of stitches, and other "low-cost" remedies.

"Dmn."Ghost muttered to himself for about the third time that day alone. He had, unfortunately gotten truly screwed on the drop into Covenant territory. His primary chute had failed and he had relied on the secondary to get in safely. Even worse, a near miss from an embedded plasma Cannon had tossed his pod way off course. "Damn" he muttered again as he watched an Elite lead a patrol of grunts across the ground he wanted to cross. He took a deep breath, Sited then fired in quick succession. The Elite went down to a head shot, fast, two grunts died as well and the rest of the pack scattered. Ghost moved fast from his hide, crossing the ground quickly then bunked down in the next available hide. He had been hopping from hide to hide as he headed for the primary landing site. Unfortunately, it was taking him quite some time and he was running out of food, ammo and water. Fortunately high-tech thermal and optical camouflage had kept him alive so far.

Suddenly, a bolt of plasma hit the side of the hog, they had been driving for 10 minutes.

"Jackals, Vic, take them out, Aik, watch out for an ambush, I'm going give you an angle for those cliffs, that's were the brutes, and grunts are I bet.

Just as he said that, a suicide grunt popped infront of them, "SHIT, AIK GET IT!"

As the grunt died, more kept on appearing, that had been ambushed," Hang on, oh shit, GET OUT!" Yelled Cedric as a plasma grenade landed right on the windshield. Cedric jumped out himself, and loaded his rifle.

Cliffs, Covenant encampment 1400 hrs.

Galdalkus had just finished his afternoon sermon to his pack, when a report came in that the foward scout unit he had sent out earlier, had engaged enemy units......and was recieving heavy losses. "Worthless grunt's.." he said to himself.

He ordered defensive plasma cannons to be positioned at the entrance of the canyon, that lead to the main base. "I want 6 Jackles on the top of that canyon" he barked.........."and for the sake of the prophets, try to stay hidden"..he added.

Meanwhile, he ordered two Brute choppers to engage the oncomming human forces. "Be careful, I hear Demons have been seen in the area" The two captains smacked their chest armor in compliance, and mounted their choppers.

[OoC; I'll be RPing as my Spartan and my Elite. And, for various reasons, I'll be supposing that there's a Hornet left for me to bug the Covvie forces with while RPing as my Spartan. He is a pilot, and not actually exceptionally skilled at anything else. But for 101sts sake, I didn't actually go in the Hornet. It made sense, in case the GM doesn't want it here. So I'm going to use my trusty Mongoose instead.

TO avoid having a one-sided ambush, I took out my own Wraith. As to stop myself from Godmoding.]

Valkyria watched as the Grunts approached the Warthog, only to be shot down by the various Spartans and ODSTs that had hopped out because of a plasma shot. The Elite watched with interest as the battle unfolded, watching the different strategies of the ambushed troops. Once he had felt that he had learned enough, the hulking Elite headed to the small troop of Elites, accompanied by a single Wraith, a distance away. Hopping into his own personalized Wraith, he began ordering the rest to bombard the stranded troops from a distance, while the Elites and Ghosts (Piloted by Grunts) would head in to clear the rest.

Using the targeting system, Valkyria began firing multiple deadly plasma shots that arced over and began exploding near the Warthogs. He slowly began inching forward as he felt more and more safe with entering the battle directly. When his fellow Elite in the turret gave him the signal that it was clear, Valkyria hit the boost, shooting forward to catch the Spartans by surprise, with his fellow Wraith shortly behind.

---

Jacob swore as the radio signals from desperate troops came in, warning of a Covenant ambush on the latest of scouting excursions. Glancing at his Hornet, he sighed in despair. He was close enough to repairing the engine, but it was too dangerous. It would be a waste if the survivors lost both their only hope of aerial support, as well as a Spartan. So Jacob called for an Assault Rifle wielding ODST, and hopped into the driver's seat of the closest Mongoose.

"C'mon, we have to save the darn scouts. I'd gladly do it alone, but if I could get some help, it wouldn't be so bad."

So Jacob and his gunner roared off away from the cliffs, warning the remaining troops of the ambush, and to lookout for any nasty cloaked Elites. As they roared rather loudly over the strange planet's surface, Jacob noticed a volley of plasma shots arcing into the sky. Swearing to himself he angled the Mongoose in the direction the plasma shots were going to land. As the surrounded ODSTs and Spartans came into view (As well as the advancing Wraiths) it became clear that this was a slightly one sided battle, with the Covenant having the advantage. The Mongoose flew into a group of unlucky Grunts, who were quickly dispatched by the fast moving vehicle, the remainder being gunned down by the marine on the back. The Mongoose moved in broad circles, gunning down Grunts, as well as a few Elites, as it went. When it came to the Warthogs, Jacob jumped off, and immediately headed towards the second of the approaching Wraiths. Avoiding the shots from the plasma turret, Jacob lobbed a grenade, waited for it to explode, and jumped on the back of the Wraith. The Spartan began punching through the armor until a sizable hole was created. Placing another grenade inside, Jacob sprinted away, not turning back to the the tank explode, sending fragments everywhere.

As the grenade blew, the warthog flew towards, Aiken, "AIKEN GET OUT OF THE WAY!" Yelled Cedric and kicked him out. Then he ducked and primed a frag grenade. The horde of brutes were 20 yards away... 15 yards, they were shooting their needlers now, 10, Cedric through the grenade, right above the brutes, in midair the nade exploded, spreading shardes all around them.

Coming to the crest of the hill he saw the covenant ambushing the small Human contingent. Settling into a relatively Safe hide, Ghost unslung his Sniper rifle and opened fire Slamming his first bullet through the head of the lead Brute.

When he spotted the wraith, he dropped down behind some debris and shunted the barrel of the rocket launcher up, taking aim at the enemy wraith. He took a couple of seconds to account for velocity, then shot a rocket towards the turreteer of the remaining wraith. As soon as the rocket left the barrel, he sprinted from cover to another piece, keeping ducked.

[OoC; Well. Since this thread grew a page and a half through the course of a single day, I'll go super-speed to catch up, and ignore the fact that my entire post was near blatantly ignored by 101st and Kenavt >.>

And Augmark, one cannot strafe enemy troops. You can flank enemy troops, but not strafe. Strafing is moving side to side to avoid oncoming fire.]

As the battle turned for the worst, Valyria began moving backwards in various strafes. When the mysterious sniper took out the brute, the Elite commander realized it was past time to leave. His point was further proven when a rocket roared out from the surrounded Spartans and left his Wraith heavily damaged. Smoking, Valyria fired one last shot and then turned and ran, the remainders of is strike force sprinting away to be gunned down. Left with only a smoking and half destroyed Ghost as a companion, the customized Wraith sputtered back to the Covenant camp.
Upon his return, he met with a group of Covenant commanders, who were discussing yet another lance sent to be destroyed by the indestructible Spartans. Although he believed in most of the Prophet's speeches, he did not think of the Spartans as Demons. Valyria was not zealous enough to think in such a way, and therefore had no hopes of becoming the next Arbiter. But then again, he was too zealous to believe that an Arbiter could change anything.
But the business of sending another lance was foolish. They were going to lose precious Elites, although the death of Brutes would not be anything to mourn. And as shown previously, they could and would lose vehicles, which was one of their few advantages over the UNSC forces stranded on the planet. If they lost all their vehicles, they had no hope.

---

As the other Spartans left on a recon mission, Jacob sighed. His efforts had been near ignored. No one bothered to talk to the Spartan who had driven all the way from camp to save them. And now they were going to go 'scout' out the enemy encampment. Basically, they were going to go get themselves mired in more trouble. But this time Jacob had no intention of saving them. He just wanted to fix his precious Hornet. So he hopped on his Mongoose, turned and waved to his gunner, and drove back to camp. Maybe he would help them when he fixed his Hornet. Then again, maybe not.

They were correct, the base was there, and there were many weapons there also. 5 grunts were on guard duty, 20 were asleep, 2 elites were talking, a group of brutes were eating near a fire. The brutes would be a problem. But most of their forces were gone, but where?

"Ok, Ghost, give me covering fire, I want all the brutes out, I'll get everything else. As soon as we're done, radio base and call in support. I'll take a banshee and find our hog, you stay here," said Cedric, and without waiting for a reply, he charged out, rifle firing, and the grunts scattered.

[OoC; As a summary to my entire post, my Covenant character is leaving Augmark's camp to go form my own, using the Spartan attack to steal the vehicles.

What kind of planet is this? For now I've been treating it as a desert/savanna planet, but it would be helpful to know.]

Valkria exited the small building, quickly checking to make sure no one had noticed him coming and leaving. As of late, the Elite had devoted his time to checking with all of his allies that they would indeed leave with him to form a new camp, leaving the foolish commanders and there Brutes to die while the new camp prospered. When Cedric ran into the camp firing, Valyria immediately ducked back into the building. Inside he had gathered all of his allies.

"There are Spartans attacking the camp, we need to move while the guards are distracted, quickly, and don't get killed."

Checking outside, the Elite commander watched as a combination of Brutes and Elites began firing at the Spartan, a combination of blue and red plasma shots scorching the earth as the armored soldier ran. Checking to make sure the defenders and the attackers were distracted, Valyria beckoned to his allies before sprinting towards the hangars. There a larger group of Elites, mingled in with Grunts, Jackals, and four Hunters waited, obviously shocked by the sudden attack, and torn between defending the camp and waiting for their new commanders. But when they saw Valyria running, they all got into the nearest vehicle and waited for the commanders to arrive. As all the positions were filled, the vehicles began to speed off towards the designated rendezvous point, the Banshees and Phantoms flying low to avoid being shot at by ever-so-dangerous rockets, or Spartan Lasers, if the stranded troops had any.
When the forces reached the new campsite, an old hollowed out volcano marked as resource heavy only accessible by a smaller, heavily guarded and shielded entrance, the Phantoms immediately landed on a large flat surface, and the troops on board unloaded the sniper towers being sent up as a defensive precaution. Shortly after a combination of Grunts and Jackals, watched over by a pair of Elites, filled up the four towers, each armed with a Carbine or Beam Rifle.
When the heavy vehicles began to arrive, the new campsite was constantly patrolled by a rotating schedule of Banshees, Specters, and Wraiths, determined to guard themselves and their precious resources until more tanks and defenses could be created.

OOC: Now thatI have a mongoose, I'm going to assume one of the ODSTs are calling for help as they just saw a Spartan fall. Also wondering what/how many ODSTs are still at the base.

IC:
After a long pause, the radio crackled to life "Spartan down! Spartan down! In need of medical assistance!"

Donald cursed to himself, being the only surviving medic and without any doctors, the best he could honestly hope to do was stabalize him and hope the spartan could do the rest... Plus, there was something in the contract about never letting a Spartan die, Donald didn't want to be the first to let that happen.

He ran off towards a nearby mongoose, and called for a nearby ODST to ride backseat, the remaining warthogs were also ordered to load-up and prepare to move-out. Losing a single spartan would be bad, losing your only medic and all your spartans would be worse.

OOC: Paging: Devon Parker, could really use that BR...

Mike climbed out from a nearby cliff side, glancing at the ensuing battle going on not even 2k away from him. Damn, I was supposed to be the only one here. Looks like they forgot that; I'd better get down there and find a way off this rock. He walked back into his small cave, grabbing all the ammo and weapons he could reasonable carry, including a SPKNr and two LOTUS mines. He then stood atop the cliff, and found a Spartan (Aiken) standing in front of a warthog. He turned on his single-beam transmission, and signaled a green status light to the Spartan's HUD, also sending his name, rank, but oddly missing a number.

Literally running down the side of the sheer face of the cliff, he landed on the level ground after about 15 seconds of near free fall. Without pause, he started to sprint the one mile towards the Spartan, arriving there in four minutes. He grabbed the bottom of the hog, and wordlessly began to lift on it to help flip it.

The mongoose soon overtook the ponderous Warthog as it sped towards the Convent outpost. Donald hoped to aquire a sniper during the re-organization, but that just didn't happen...

The plan was a quick in and out, warthog-crew providing coving fire for the escape and the lone ODST as a diversion long enough for Donald to make a diagnosis of the situation...

What he saw was a wounded Spartan flying like a banshee, well, in a banshee...

The mongoose power-slid to a halt whilst running over a hapless grunt, with Donald and Tucker taking cover behind.

"This is madness..."

Having already arrived and left the mongoose, leaving before the hog showed up to provide covering-fire would be suicide, and the Banshee didn't seem to take much notice of them for the time being...

Tucker decided to turn on the mong's radio to pass time, for some reason, the carrier-wave ressembled polka-music (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPcdp8A_Bsk)...

"Finally, covering-fire..."

Donald charged, SMG/pistol blazing away, towards the controls of the goose as Tucker finished reloading.

The added bullet-spam and the arrival of rapid and accurate firepower from the 'hog' meant that any convent forces with any sense of self-presservation would stay away from the wall of fire and assuming it was all coming fro,m LMGs and assault-rifles rather than risk exposing themselves to enemy fire hoping only to get winged by a SMG.

This allowed Donald and Tucker access to the goose long enough to restart the motor and make an immediate tactical withdrawl. Let the fighters do the fighting...

"Tucker, you take the banshee back to the base; Luke, you get the mongoose to safety, as for everone else, I'll need some help getting this spartan into the hog; We've done enough for one day" Donald ordered, as he gestured to the smokey ruins of the covenent outpost.

He then looked a bit closer at the patient, blood-loss was severe, but with staunch treatment and about a week's worth of rest, he should be fine...

He then gestured to Aiken after pulling the visiable shrapnel out, "You, put your hand HERE and press down, just enough to slow the bleeding. Give him plenty of fluids and he should be OK."

He then patted the helmet of the Spartan driving the hog, "GO!"

It was around this time the medic realized he just sent all the vehicles back to base without him...

He then turned to the ghostly ruins, no doubt there were some brutes still inside, but more importantly, something their base could use... For everything else, well, there's a reason why they issue two grenades...

He crouched alongside a low-wall, firing had ceased, apparently the sight of all the vehicles leaving made them think it was a reatreat...

He then noticed Hawk/Hathcock in the distance, and signaled via LOS that his job would be overwatch with the sniper-rifle.

He fitted a silencer to his M7 SMG, and then crept into the ruined base, frag-grenade and M7 at ready. He quickly decided to arm himself with a needler though...
For some reaon, this reminded him of a certain job done centuries ago, usually by whoever was smallest, regardless of rank. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6ZbPqvfvBI&NR=1)

He then ordered the brutes guarding the foward outpost, to leave, and engage the enemy units moving towards the base.

The ambush point would be made about 1 klick east of the foward base, consisting of 5 high ranking Brutes, and 6 Jackals. Only 4 brutes and 6 grunts were left guarding the foward outpost, but if all went according to plan, the enemy forces would not have the stamina to take the outpost, not to mention the Covenant base.

Jacob sat around the radio with a group of unarmed ODSTs. Every now and then a transmission from the Covenant camp would come through, and money would change hands. It might have seemed cold under normal circumstances, betting on fellow soldier's lives and decisions, but the stranded troops were bored and alone. And the Covenant couldn't attack them. They were busy trying to kill a group of insane Spartans who had mired themselves in trouble, just as Jacobs had thought they would. As a stunned ODST reported that one of the banshees had begun strafing the camp, a mixture of groans and cheers went up, and once again, money changed hands.

"Told you they would take a banshee."
"Liar. I bet you it's just a Brute with horrible aim killing his own men."
"Men? More like his own gorillas."
"Hey guys, wait a minute, I think I see something heading towards the camp."
"What is it?"
"I don't know, looks like there's more of them now. Hey, it almost looks like.."
"Like what?"
"Someone get a scanner. I think we're under attack"

The ODSTs scattered, running for their weapons. When one ODST glanced into the scope on his Battle Rifle and confirmed the approaching objects to be Wraiths, accompanied by a Banshee, there was a chorus of swearing. Men began to rush to the defenses, the stunned troops who hadn't been around the radio asking what was going on. As the MG nests filled up, along with the defenses along the crude sandbag wall, Jacob looked for a good place to pick off troops from. Taking a sniper rifle and an assault rifle with him, Jacob headed up one of the cliffs, perching on a lower rock jutting from the wall. When another ODST climbed up Jacob looked surprised, but it turned out to be his gunner, who had a rocket launcher and a Magnum.

"You're going to kill an Elite with a Magnum?" Jacob asked, surprised. The ODST laughed and shouldered the rocket launcher.

"Nope. I'm going to kill the Elites with my rocket launcher. I'm going to kill the banshee with the Magnum."

Jacob laughed, and peered through the scope of his sniper. As the Covenant troops and tanks began to come into the range of the snipers and battle rifle, shots range out, either falling short of the approaching troops, or bouncing of armor and shielding. Laying down on the rock, Jacob began aiming his sniper, and slowly picked off the Elites he could find. There was a strange lack of Brutes, but that didn't really bother Jacob. Brutes were annoying to kill, and there muscular arms spelled death for any ODST that got too close.
His comrade began firing the rockets sparingly, aiming for pockets of Grunts and Elites, as well as the Wraiths, which were easy enough targets, being too slow to easily dodge the rockets coming at them from different directions. Above, the Banshee soared, simply circling around while not firing any bombs or plasma shots. Confused, Jacob fired a sniper shot at it, which cracked the cockpit and forced the Banshee to turn and dance out of range. it was a small victory for the Spartan, but hopefully one that would pay off in the long run.

The besieged UNSC forces held the advantage only by the MG nests, as well as Jacob and his ODST gunners desperate push. The Covenant forces had neared the cliff, and now small arms fire began to land all around it. The ODST pulled out his Magnum and fired into the group of Grunts that were trying to knock down the cliff, and Jacob was firing his assault rifle at a desperate speed, only trying to injure the enemy troops rather than kill them.
Then he remembered the Spartans that had left on the recon. trip. Normally he wouldn't have forgotten, but he was busy holding off a small army. Grunting, he activated his radio, and sent a transmission to where the Spartans should be.

"Hello, this is Spartan 134 sending a distress signal. The camp is being attacked by an overwhelming number of Covenant forces. Requesting backup, repeat, requesting backup. We may not last much longer"

Hoping it would be received, Jacob began firing his assault rifle some more. The message was right. They wouldn't last much longer.

OOC: Cutting off blood circulation completely is a noob-move for a medic, may want to look up the proper usage of a tournequet, it may save you (or anyone you may have to stop severe bleeding on) from getting gang-green/frostbite. If slowed to a trickle, the blood should congeal on its own over the wound, use of coagulants improves the chances of this regardless of wound-size.

Giving him water/fluids is to help the body replace lost blood, the other option is for blood transfusion, but I don't think we've got those sorts of medical supplies, and I have no intention to post improvised blood transfusion methods...

After a brief commotion, he saw a group Brutes and Jackals give chase to the warthog, leaving the battered outpost apparently deserted...

Still, if there were enough brutes left to mount an attack, they were bound to leave a reargaurd, composed of either their best troops or their worst, he hoped it was of the herb-smoking variety. The stench of blood, methane, and burned flesh was thick in the air...

He then came face to face with a brute, a dead one, well, actually just the upper torso, head, and an arm... A rocket had detonated at his feet, gibbing his underside pretty bad. Still, from his initial POV, he merely saw the head, hand, and a twisted helmet...

He then heard something... a whimper?

OOC: Er, you're not serious, right?

IC: Mike shrugged. "Sounds like we have bigger problems anyway," he said as he received the transmission from Jacob. "You heard that, right? How about I'll drive this punk back, and drop you off to help out that camp?" Mike's voice gave the impression that he was ordering, not asking, Aiken to do so.

Mike saw an encampment of human forces up ahead, facing off with the Covenant. He swerved around to the back in the trees, trying not to get noticed. "I'll drop you off behind the Covenant forces, maybe about 1k off or less. Just leave him with me, I'll try to slow the bleeding." He paused for a moment. "One quick question. You guys are stranded here, aren't you?"

Inside Cedric's Mind

"Hi, my name's Cedric, what's your name?" asked a 5 year old Cedric to a girl with brown hair.
She turned around and said," Hi, my name is Amy, do you know where we are?"
"No, do you want to be my friend?"
"Sure, come on lets find some more people"
Then Cedric spotted Aiken," Hello what's your name?"

ooc: This is a flashback from when they were kiddnapped.

With the Spartan attack on the forward Covenant camp, Valyria had decided to make it even by attacked the only UNSC camp. And his plan was working. A single Wraith bombarded the inside of the camp with plasma bolts, and the only thing holding off his Elites was the two MG nests mercilessly gunning down any Elite that got in there line of fire. There was also the pesky Spartan allied with the ODST that were distracting his troops, but they were surrounded by Grunts, so they wouldn't last very long. Because it was time to unleash their secret weapon. Although it would have been nicer to just wipe out the entire camp with a Scarab, they didn't have one, so they made do with a pair of Hunters. The armored beasts were hidden inside the ranks of the forces that were being smashed against the crude sandbag wall.

Valyria sent them the signal, and they charged out towards the sandbag wall, followed by a host of Grunts and Elites, with the Jackals being used as support. The pair of Hunters ripped apart the wall, and used their fuel rod cannons to decimate any foes nearby. Now that his troops were inside the camp, the UNSC forces would be hard pressed to stop them. Turning back to the cliff ledge where the Spartan was, he saw the plasma bolts take their toll, and watched as the cliff ledge crumbled and fell, killing the unfortunate Grunts that were to close.

---
Jacob looked over to where his ODST partner lay, unmoving. A rage built up inside the Spartan, and he roared out of the dust, slamming into the nearest Grunt with his assault rifle, and filling the rest of the surprised Covenant infantry with bullets. When he turned to face an Elite, there was a moment of connection between two physically matched races, before Jacob rolled out of the way, avoiding the stream of plasma bolts that had erupted from the Elite's plasma rifle. The Elite then pulled out a carbine, and began systematically shooting around Jacob, before the Spartan grabbed a plasma grenade from the corpse of a Grunt, hit the Elite with it, and ran as the Elite exploded.
Jacob ran to the insides of the camp, clearing out invaders as he went. Then he hit yet another obstacle, the Hunters. He ducked and rolled behind a dead Elite, trying to sneak around the armored beasts, but to no avail. The corpse exploded, sending Jacobs sprawling. The Spartan rolled and got up, narrowly avoiding another fuel rod blast. Grunting, he threw one of the stolen plasma grenades and sprinted away. Hunters. They were such a nuisance.

OOC:.... you can read minds?

Also, could people RP their characters in your flashback? Just an idea.

IC: Mike swore inside him helmet, unheard by others, before turning his intercom back on. "You saw those Hunters, right? No time to set up an ambush, get going." Mike power slid to a stop near the base, on the opposite side of where the Covenant was, and literally pushed his rocket launcher (one of two) at Aiken, pushing him out of the warthog. "Use this however you want, just please try not to lose or break it," Mike said with an air of annoyance. And he immediately drove off, using his HUD to locate the base while he finished applying biofoam to Cedric. "Pansy," he muttered, not bothering to turn off his intercom. "Even without thinking to bring biofoam, he should've lasted longer then that." He floored the accelerator, heading back to camp at full speed. "Still, he should be able to keep going even with just biofoam..."

A short bit later....

This is a camp? Great thought Mike as he stopped next to the camp, picking up Cedric with both arms and climbing out of the warthog. Forgot how heavy this armor actually is. "Somebody fix this guy!" He called out, not sure what to expect.

IC: The brute got up, whimpering (even though brutes have pretty much no emotion..... sigh) as he picked up ammo from another fallen corpse. The brute had a deep wound on his left arm, so he used his right. As he turned around, he suddenly saw the ODST standing there, just as surprised as he was. After half a second's hesitation, the brute reached for a grenade with its bad arm as it pulled a Brute Shot forward with its good arm, albeit slowly (as it was using only one arm) and it pulled the trigger.

Then Cedric saw the Hunter pair, "oh, fuck it," he said, and before waiting for an ODST, Cedric drove off and 10 seconds later, he was within 20 yards of the 2 monsters. Then he pulled 2 stolen plasma grenades on a pass by, he strapped one to each of the beasts before they had a chance to fire.

"Alright sir, if you're sure. Sounds like I'm needed up there anyway." He unclutched the brakes, sending the mongoose screeching off. After a few minutes, he reached the UNSC base. He saw one of the hunters spot him and turn it's bulk to face him, raising it's arm. "Oh fuck." He pulled on the brakes then jumped off, narrowly avoiding the green beam that passed by his head. He crawled over to a barricade, next to 2 other ODSTs. "So, hows it going lads?"
"Not too bad. Could use those Hunters dead though." Luke peered over the barricades, ducking down again as he came under fire.
"Well, that Spartan is down there. With all luck, he'll do it."

OOC: Oh, my bad, I thought there were two camps, this is a tad confusing...

IC: Mike was working his way around the edge of the battle, moving toward the middle structure where the hunters were. Strange, they're in the open... perhaps luring idiots like that nearby, he thought as Cedric approached them in a drive by. (which shouldn't be possible without getting blown up probably...) Mike shot off a rocket at the two hunters from his position in the trees (just before Cedric planted the grenades), a good 220 meters away, and ran to another spot instantly to stay hidden. That rocket'll hit when those grenades go off, as long as they stay still. Maybe if we're lucky one will die.

The grenades didn't stick but fell to the hunters' feet, but before they could run away, a rocket screamed towards them. The combined explosion dropped one and left the other one limp. Cedric got off his mongoose and took his rifle, planted it to the remaining hunter's head and fired off a clip. Reloaded and snapped the remains of it's 'spinal cord'.

But, whatever.
IC: Mike shook his head. Lucky sonnuva... He opened a transmission to Cedric's HUD. "There's still quite the covenant force at the eastern edge of camp, no time to celebrate now." With that he took off at a run, putting away the SPNKr and pulling out his assault rifle. "And be more careful next time," he added before leaping in the back seat of the Mongoose.

"Ok, let's go scout again," Said Cedric revving up the engine.

They had been on thier way for 30 minutes now and had lost radio contact with the rest of the base unknowingly. "Erh, Mike, check in with base and tell them our current location."

"Sir, we can't establish radio contact," Said Mike(I hope you dont mind)

"Shit a wraith!" yelled Cedric swerving out of the way. They had blundered right into another covenent outpost right next to a steep cliff.
"Hang on! Oh shit!" said Cedric, he had almost pulled out of a turn right next to the cliff the the wraith had clipped him ever so slightly and sent the mongoose careening down the cliff. Cedric grabbed Mike and got hold of the wall slowing their desent.

Instinctively, the medic ducked behind cover as he saw the living Brute draw a weapon, he then checked to make sure the needler he picked-up was in working condition; only one magazine...

Donald could hardly believe what he had just seen though, an injured brute had fired a wide area-effect weapon in a very confined space, with no cover...

After the noise had died down for a moment, he chucked a frag-grenade around the corner he was hiding behind and retreated further towards the outside...

He must be stupid to have thought he could raid an occupied convent base single-handedly...

Still, here he was, a quick survey outside didn't reveal the sniper he saw earlier. He was on his own for now...

OOC: I'll assume you got away from the brute.... and the only thing is that Mike wouldn't have said 'sir'. Ever. So I sorta mind, a tad anyway. But not enough to care. (If that makes sense)

IC: "Hold on to me!" Mike grabbed a LOTUS mine from his back while Cedric was holding on to his shoulder. He pushed the bottom of the mine against the cliff wall while falling, and activated the locking mechanism on the bottom. After a few tried, it suddenly took hold on the side, jerking the two to a complete stop with enough force to rip a normal person's arm off. Mike glanced down the cliff without hesitation; they were still quite a ways up the side. "We'll have to free fall from here to not get shot, activate the bio-gel in your suit when we jump." He then clicked off the the locking mechanism, putting the mine on his back again as he kicked off the cliff side to avoid incoming Covenant Plasma rounds. He wordlessly activated his shock-gel, along with locking up his suit to absorb the impact of the fall.
