<Four Heatons Airways flight 9875Heavy>

The airline flew through the stary sky. It was a quite night, a routine flight from Four Heatons to a far away place. Little did the pilots know their GPS was maulfunctioning and they had just passed unautorised into another nations airspace.

The two pilots were shocked then when a pair of unidentified fighters sped past them a few minutes later.
"What in the world?" The Captain asked.
"Two jets" The Co-Pilot responded.
"Yes I can see that" The Captain said "They're coming back"
From the lead fighter a something was fired.
"Good lord, is that a missile?" The Co-pilot asked. The Captain never responded as the Missile hit sendiong the plane towards the ground.

<Falcon Montain>

President Alanna Watson strode into the Opeartions centre, nearly a thousand feet inside the Montain.
"Situtation report?" She asked.
"we've lost contact with a 747" Luitenant General Tom Ganton of the Four HEatons airforce said.
"Where?"
"We're working it out know"

Over Aquidneckese Waters

Two Yak-28-64 circled back around over where the airliner went down. "This is Tiger-14, reporting splash of Ghost-1. Ghost-1 appears to be of designation Bravo Seven Four Seven. Repeatedly ignored radio attempts across 20.0 kHz - 24.0 kHz, and 10.0 GHZ - 20.0 GHz range bands, and continued to penetrate into Aquidneckese Airspace. Lack of tracers prevented firing of warning shot. It is unknown if there are survivors in the water," was radioed from on of the aircraft, followed shortly by, "This is Tiger-15, confirming two hits, and two Vympel K-13R missiles fired."
The reply shortly came, "Transmission confirmed, hold position, coast guard rescue team inbound, ETA 20 minutes."

Twenty two minutes later the ACGS Cutter North Wood, a converted Ognevoy class Destroyer, was the first ship on the scene, followed shortly by two Ka-25PS helicopters from shore. Rigid-hulled inflatable boats, were lowered into the water, and search and rescue operations began.

High above the scene unfolding below, a U-2 spyplane drifted lazily above the world. They flew during both peace and war, never particularly directed to gain intelligence from one specific target. They generally kept to the coast, never flying far inward without a need, always ready to dart to the saftey of open water and political amnesty.

Sitting in his cockpit Arnold Colbert Solomon Ferdinand viewed the unfolding scene as he made wide circles and relayed the images he took to the DT Strategic Air Command were they were passed on to the Sultan. As the intelligence was faxed into the palace, the Sultan was finishing a meeting and was brought to the Conflict Coordination Control Center in the basement where he was made privy to the pictures and subjected to the speculations of his advisors.

They knew nothing yet, and could only assume that plane had gone down on its own. The only reason the matter was brought up was that the Heaton aircraft identified in the water was not even reasonably close to its logged flight plan.

Orders made their way back to SAC and then on to Ferdinand to remain on station untill a replacment arrived to take over.

Down the road from the base where a second U-2 spyplane was preparing to take off, a DT naval base recieved orders to prepare its small task group, the 2nd Strategic Defense fleet in the event of trouble.

Commander Gorton stood on the deck of the ACGC North Wood, overseeing the rescue operation. He counted almost one hundred civilians in the water. His men, were in boats, helping them move towards the ship, where they would be dry and safe. The two Ka-25PS helicopters were circling overhead, ready to take any survivors with serious injury to the shore for better medical treatment.

Radar detected the unidentified aircraft approaching Aquidneckese Airspace. Following the earlier incident, they were on high alert. Within minutes, a squadron of Su-15 interceptors (6) of the 201st Air Defense Wing, were in the air, moving at Mach 1.8 on an intercept course with the intruders.

The lead Su-15MT, sent out a radio message, on all frequencies, "Attention unidentified aircraft, you are approaching Aquidneckese airspace. Identify yourselves, and turn back now, or we will be forced to engage." Then the pilot switched to encrypted channels, "Red Fox Squadron, this is Red Fox One, prepare to engage the enemy aircraft. Enemy Aircraft believed to be F/A-18 fighters. Remember, your aircraft is fast, and can fly higher than they can, use that to your advantage. Don't engage until I've given the signal."

Star Squadron paried up and began to dogfight with the enemy jets, the lead and two got behind one set of SU-15's and attempted to get missile lock.

Aquidneckese Airspace

Even at the top speed for the F/A 18, the two Su-15s would be pulling away from them, at roughly 2 nm every minute. The longer they took to get the missile lock, the further the missile would have to go. Meanwhile, one of the Su-15s, and that had pulled up above the maximum altitude for the F/A 18, came down on the two F/A 18s that were trying to get a lock. It reduced it's speed to match that of the F/A 18s and launched two Vympel R-60 missiles on one of the aircraft. After the missiles were away it strafed both planes with it's 2 UPK-23-250 23 mm gun pods. Red Fox One, replied to the F-16, "We are defending our national airspace, against hostile aircraft, that have intentionally violated our airspace, and threaten the use of force against us. We ask for your assistance in repelling these invaders."

"We are avengeing our civvilian aircraft which was shot down by these bastards in an unprovoked attack" Star one told the F-16 as he popped countermeasures and pulled a high -G turn throwning the missile system off somewhat. Star Four and Five we're able to avoid the guns pretty eisly though start 5 took a hit to the port rudder. The F-18's chasing the Su-15's finally got lock on the escapiing Su-15's and both planes fired Two AIM-120 AMRAAM's and then a futher AIM-9 Sidewinder each.

To confirm the images being relayed by the spyplane, a sattelite pass over the area using one of the Griffencrest corporation's space assets revealed the Four Heatons fleet fast approaching, along with the inbound Daniel's Island ship. Subsequent intel revealed the dogfight already under way.

Shortly after the first signs of conflict were brewing, the DT airbase across the sea from the downed plane was mobilized. Fighters were scrambled and AWACS reconossaince planes luanched along with B-52's equipped with high-intensity IR laser countermeasures and towable electronic countermeasure dummies. In thier holds rotary luanchers held missiles ranging from AMRAAM stand off air-to-air missiles to long range cruise missiles with heavy warheads. F/A-18E/F Super Hornets accompanied the AWACS.

A message was broadcast through the forward AWACS to embattled area:

Official Response of the Fascist Federation of the Grand World Order

The Order finds the recent acts between the nations as silly and unnecessary. We are deploying the GWO Air Force to prevent the continued aerial warfare. Should an invasion attempt be made by either nation, the Order will deploy forces to stop the invasion force. Any malicious attacks on Federation personnel will be an Act of War. Something as simple as a country defending their airspace is no grounds for war. As far as the "Offending Nation" was concerned, that plane could have been a bomber carrying NBC weapons. However, the "Offending Nation" should have made radio contact before shooting down the plane.

Both sides are wrong, and this is the final verdict of the Order.

With Love, the Grand World Order Office of Foreign Affairs.

Two of the Su-15 aircraft were hit, on a direct hit, and exploded, the second, a near hit, which severally damaged the aircraft, but allowed the pilot to eject. The other Su-15, which had been strafing the F/A 18s, fired two R-98M1 missiles at one of the F/A 18s, at quite close range.

By the time the second wave of fighters had been detected, things at the airbase had changed, the entire base was on alert. Following the loss of two Su-15 aircraft in the fight, it was determined that interceptors were not enough, it was time to send in a squadron of multirole fighters. Within seconds, 8 MiG-21bis aircraft, that had been prepped for just such an occasion, were in the air, and quickly climbing to 58,000 ft. where they would be well above the maximum altitude of the F/A 18s. In a little over a minute and a half, all eight were flying at Mach 2.0, at 58,000 ft. They were not heading towards the main air battle, but instead heading towards the incoming squadron.

This is the P.A.F.N. Leopard submarine. Do not attack us, as we are currently starting an operation to rescue survivors. Do not sink us, as it will result in the deaths of many civilians.

Treasure Island was usually the northwestern limit of Saevitian combat air patrols. A hundred nautical miles from the nearest island of any consequence, it was home to about five thousand permanent inhabitants, including the personnel of a med-sized air base where the routine patrols often stopped to refuel.

Over Treasure Island a pair of K-39s circled at about fifteen thousand feet, just one of the many patrols active all around the Archipelago on a routine basis. The lead Gryphon, Tech. Sgt. Matt "Bugs" Holbrook, was in communication with ground control, his wingman circling just above and behind him.

"So where are you sending us this time, Control? Over."

"There's some kind of disturbance about two hundred en-em northwest of here. I'll send you coordinates. Over."

"All right."

"Snapshot it and we'll pass it on to WC. They're a little concerned, see. Over."

"Roger that. You copy, Lionfish? All right, Bugs out."

Holbrook angled down and activated his thrusters, pushing his K-39 to its cruising speed of Mach 1.5. His wingman, A1C André "Lionfish" Smalls, accelerated alongside him. Operating under EMCON, the two stealth fighters would be nearly impossible to detect unless you were specifically watching for an aircraft coming from Saevitia and had really, really powerful radars. A combination of minimized radar profile, radar-absorbing paint, cover of darkness, and low altitude helped this.

An hour or two passed with little conversation (radio silence was generally maintained under EMCON, as the CSSA was nothing if not cautious), dropping off as they approached the target zone. About forty nautical miles from the zone, Holbrook took his eyes off the instruments and scanned the aging but well-maintained console to fix in his mind the activation switch for the recon gear that had been affixed to the stealth fighter in place of one of its hardpoints. Then he began to slow his speed.

Twenty nautical miles from the zone, he broke radio silence: "Lionfish. Now." Then, in rapid succession, as his wingman broke away from tailing him, he activated the recon gear, the fiber-optic link back to Treasure Island airbase, and the radar. He kept the radar on for a three-second sweep, then deactivated it again and banked hard into evasive maneuvers, again minimizing his profile to avoid detection. Now they would know there were other planes out there, but not where they were, or how many they numbered. (They could search with active radar, it was true, but not without giving their position away to the enemy.)

Ten seconds later Smalls did the same thing, but from a completely different angle. This would continue until the Saevitian aircraft had gained a more complete picture of everything going on around there.

Just 50 nautical miles north of Treasure Island, the P.A.F.N. cougar, a Nimitz Class carrier, had just received the rescued civilians. They were about to leave on a flight organized by the admiral of the ship. This would take them back to the Four Heatons. But before that happened, 15 fighters, plus 2 Apache helicopters, lifted off and flew to the battle. The fighters were comprised of 1 squad of 5 F-35s, codenamed cheetah, and two squads of 5 F-15 interceptors, codenamed lion 1 and 2. They were followed by two pyshorian made attack submarines, who were in the ocelot class. They had a top speed of 35 knots, and were fitted with the Barracuda Prototype torpedoes. These torpedoes were seeing their first action. They could travel at 1.2 times the speed of sound, making them un-traceable by sonar, but were smaller than most torpedoes. With their mission carried out, the leopard and the cougar headed back to Pyshoria.

[OOC: A torpedo that can travel at those speeds is actually going to have to be pretty huge, very noisy and rather short-ranged, given that a real supercavitating 533mm (standard-sized) torpedo can travel only about 14-15 km at 200 knots and is presumably quite easy to detect.]

13-02-2009, 23:58
The torpedo prototype exists, and the reason it is quite small is because it is shaped like a dagger. It is currently being jointly developed by the Germans and the Swedish. Each attack submarine carries just 1, and mainly relies on normal torpedoes.

Of the 8 Super Hornets escorting the two AWACS planes, 4 were EA-18G Growler variants luanched to carry out electronic jamming on the area. Each carried five ALQ-99 jamming pods and were equipped with the INCANS Interference Cancellation system. The jamming provided by these planes intercepts and jams all radio communication between aircraft and is effective in neutralizing most surface-to-air missiles.

The Growlers broke formation to blanket the contested airspace, dampening all combat actions. Furthermore, the 5 B-52s deployed their towable countermeasure dummies. When activated, these dummies presented a radar signature 20x the size of the plane they followed. To the aircraft currrently dogfighting one another and all the planes inbound to intervene, the sky around them would now be an incomprehesible blanket of radar beams and scrambled radio chatter. Acquiring and locking on to targets would now be extremely difficult, especially with the amount of computer and external targeting required in modern planes.

The only exception was that Four Heaton's communications with its seemingly rogue pilot were forwarded through the jamming so they could resolved the unfolding crisis.

At that moment, area pinpointed by the radar disturbance, the P.A.F.N. F-35s swooped in. In the constant array of radar beams just decreased their radar sign, due to the incorporated stealth tachnology. The acute radar system was able to give the F-35s just enough of a signal to understand the area, though the radar scrambling made it almost incomprehensible. They eventually pinpointed the Aquidneckian Mig-21s, which were soaring above the radar mess. The F-35s quickly gained on the Migs, and fired their heat-seeking sidewinder missiles.

"We jammin'?" Holbrook paused, looking over the readout from his last radar sweep. "Yep. It's a jam session, all right. We'll have to do a solo."

He flicked a switch among the instruments and another display hummed to life. The LADAR was most effective at closer range, so he brought himself in a little closer, but he'd seen enough, and so had the recon gear built in. Turning off active systems once again, he brought himself around, accelerated again and climbed to gain sufficient altitude to escape the jamming field. Once above and away from the furball he made another quick sweep, looking for his wingman; following solo protocol, Smalls had done the same, climbing nearly to the maximum operational altitude of his K-39 Gryphon.

"Bugs here. You get anything?"

"Couple of radar sweeps, Bugs. Then the drumkit started up."

"Yeah." The two planes formed up and descended again under the radar, to remain under EMCON all the way back to Treasure Island. "You have any idea what was going on there?"

"I picked up a downed plane, probably a seven-four-seven by the profile. And a lot of birds -- Natos, Migs, suchlike."

"Weird. They were fighting over that downed plane?"

"Seems pretty inconsequential if you ask me."

"I've seen stranger things. Wars over fishing boats.... over whaling."

The grey paint of the planes reflects no water, but the nightdark sea is under it, and goes on in all directions as far as the eye can see.

~ Mouse Island, Saevitia ~

The information would eventually get to Frederickstown, but not, it was likely, until morning at least. It was not important enough, only worth a minor note on the Council of Lords' morning meeting. Here at Mouse Island, three or four hundred nautical miles south and a little east from Treasure Island, it would reach the Provincial Authority; its main city, NĂ¡rtas, was capital of Northwest Province, under whose jurisdiction Treasure Island and Western Command technically fell.

Thus, Western Command identified the combatants where possible, and passed the information on to a minor official of the Authority, who wrote and signed a brief message in the Governor's name.

Official CSSA Communication

To Whom it may Concern:

The Provincial Authority of Northwest Province, of the Constitutional Sovereignty of the Saevitian Archipelago, has noted with some concern an aerial skirmish occurring less than two hundred nautical miles from Saevitian waters.

Whilst all due precautions will of course be taken by Western Command to ensure the safety and security of all Saevitians and Saevitian shipping, we must request information regarding the origins of this conflict, as it threatens to destabilize the region should it evolve into full-scale war and the involved powers do not seem to have shown any particular animosity towards one another prior to this point in time. If its causes prove to be minor and its eruption preventable, we invite the involved parties to settle negotiations on neutral, Saevitian soil, should they so desire.

"This is developing into a pretty serious war you know..." Said a voice as a middle aged man enetered the office...

"I was wondering when you were gonna get involved" Said the young man seated at the desk with a smile on his face...

After the communique has been sent. Two fighter squadrons consisting of Philippinian Eagle 02 (Sukhoi SU-30M Build) fully armed and battle ready has been readied for immediate takeoff with destination 247,101. In the map it reads "Four Heatons Borderlands". The Director of the IIA has authorized the mission.

Captain Parker will be leading the charge. Their mission is to successfully make a roundtrip from Maniylad, Philippiniada to the Heaton's Territory.

The IIA has been on standby on the desk of OIC in the Airbase. With every word that the boys at IIA will definitely change the scene on the Airbase. For the first time since the Great Civil War of 1992. A code red would be announced in the Airbase named after a great civil war hero. The people at the airbase hold their breaths for the decision of the President...

[OOC: The current situation is near the Aquidneckese Islands, not the Four Heatons, so I don't know why you are sending aircraft there.]

At that moment, the Virginia Class Submarine sent a transmission to the Daniels Island Fighters. It read:
<Daniels Island fighter planes, state your objectives and purpose. If your mission harms this submarine or any Four Heatons planes, we will fire. The cause of this battle was an unprovoked attack on a Four Heatons Airlines 747, a civilian aircraft, resulting in over 350 deaths. If you attack us or any of our allies, we WILL fire missiles at any of you. This is a Virginia Class Submarine, I repeat, a VIRGINIA CLASS submarine. We also have a Nimitz class carrier on the way here. If you wish to remain unharmed, do not fire.

The other Foxtrot Class Submarine, which picked up the transmission from the unidentified submarine, operating in Aquidneckese territorial waters, went to general quarters, quickly loading, and flooding the bow torpedo tubes, while a firing solution was plotted, from a composite of the passive sonar, and bearing of the source of the radio message.

"This is Spartan Leader, hold fire! I repeat hold fire! turn your attenions to defending Four Heatons aircrafts! we have a Virginia Class Sub giving us direct orders.."

"Spartan Leader this is Spartan 1.. why are we doing what they tell us too?"

"Because we are a peacekeeping nation and it is The Four Heatons that are under attack!"

"Understood"

This message, was also picked up by Aquidneckese forces in the area. An encrypted transmission was quickly dispatched, via an ELF band to the Foxtrot class submarine tailing the D.I 21 ARK. The message, when decoded, ordered them to attack. The Foxtrot, loaded, then flooded tubes two and four, and launched two 53-65 torpedo, at close range, towards the D.I 21 ARK.

The interference made the Su-15s radar useless, the same as the information from the datalink with shore radar. Luckily the Su-15 pilots didn't rely to heavily on radar for areal engagements.

Cruising through the serene waters of the ocean was Task Force 28 Of the Armed Republic of the Wolf Hold. The flagship of the Task Force was an updated Iowa Class Battleship supported by a Carrier and 4 Heavy Cruisers, 2 Aegis Cruisers and 6 Frigates. They were escorting a Wolf Hold Marine Expeditionary Unit that was going to provide medical supplies to a Island which had recently been hit by severe storms. As they cleared a particular bad piece of radar and sonar disturbance, the klaxons on all the ships began to blare as there sonar and radar lit up with contacts.

CIC, WHS White Fang, Iowa Class Battleship, Task force 28

"Captain we have multiple contacts on Radar, same with sonar! We have multiple unidentified aircraft duking it out to the northwest, sonar reports multiple surface contacts!" The runner was breathless as he relayed this information to the Captain of the White Fang. A veteran of many battles in service to his nation the Captain quickly took reacted to this new development.

Picking up the ships phone and changing it to the All Ships Frequency "Attention this is the Flagship defensive formation, I repeat Defensive formation, All hands to battle stations! This is not a Drill! This is Not a Drill!" Placing the receiver back down, he moved to the status board which displayed the movements and dispositions of his forces. The board suddenly lit up as the ships changed from station holding to full battle readiness and the carrier launched its 2 F/A-18 Squadron supported by a squadron of Rafle Ms. A total of 18 planes. Glancing over at his adjutant, he growled "Get the radio set to full broadcast!" As the adjutant hurried to complete the order, the rest of the bridge crew were waiting for the next order, all except a radio operator who was sending off a contact report to Wolf Hold Central Command. "Radio is ready sir!" yelled the adjutant. Walking back over to the radio broadcaster, picking up the receiver and began to speak.

Flight Red-209, a Super Hornet and Growler, broke away from the fighting to cover the fleeing ships. The DT command was quickly lending its services to prevent further loss of life. Since its attempts to put an end to the conflict had failed, it was now concerned with moving as many parties as possible away from the battle.

Even as radio signals from all the other involved parties were eaten up by the AQ-99 pods, so did they recieve the distress call from the Daniels Island ship.

The second DT AWACS plane sent out a message to the stricken ship: "DI.21 ARK, DT ships are headed for your position. Repeat, friendly ships are headed to your position. (OOC) Aquineckia, ask yourself this: How can an aircraft from the 1970s outspeed a modern F-35? Being an aircraft, not army or navy, but aircraft expert, I know the F-35 can reach Mach 3.8, while the to speed for the ancient Mig-21s is Mach 2. Plus, since the Mig-21 has a somewhat blunt nose, it occasionally disintegrates at that speed.

((OOC: Well, first of all, the Mig-21Bi has the "Super Afterburner" feature (Though its engines actually do get destroyed while doing this). Without that, it can still go at 1,385 MPH (Mach 2.1). The F-35's maximum recorded speed was 1,200 MPH (Mach 1.6, approximately). Also, the MiG-21 was made in 1959, not the 70's. Its nose is actually relatively sharp, which leads me to believe that you have the wrong MiG in mind. Remember; the F-35 was made more like a strike aircraft, not an air superiority fighter.

Should've gone with with the F-22 and F-23, good sire.))

Upon noticing continous conflict, the P.A.F.N. Cougar returned to the scene. It was escort by the P.A.F.N. Wildcat and Puma, two heavy destroyers. The Cougar launched a transmission to the WHS white fang, as the pyshorian planes landed to refuel. Since it had not arrived during the period that the Cougar was there, the admiral was worried that it was another threat.

That is all"

The 5 Heavy Destroyers and 1 Aegis Cruiser began to place themselves between the crippled DI carrier and the Four Heatons Ships, whilst the newly arrived Task Force 34s 2 Battle Cruisers and 8 Frigates placed themselves infronnt of the Physhoria Naval vessels.

"We've received no responses, Major," said the young man at the first terminal.

"Hmmmm...." The Major in command at present rubbed his unshaven chin and stared into the dark sludge that passed for coffee grounds occupying the bottom of his mug. "Not one? We've identified at least four different military units in the area."

The young man remained silent; that hadn't sounded like a question. And indeed, the Major continued a moment later.

"I suppose we should direct another transmission at the contested area itself. A narrow band transmission, obviously." He pulled over the laptop and began to type. A few minutes later the ships and planes in the area received an incoming radio transmission, open, and originating from a small island two hundred nautical miles or so to the southeast.

Attention all combatants, this is Western Command (stop) Your actions have been brought to the attentions of the CSSA (stop) Immediately disengage and cease fire, repeat, disengage and cease fire (stop) We have targeting solutions on all combatants, repeat, targeting solutions on all combatants, take aggressive actions and you will be destroyed (stop) Now explain your current situation, directing all transmissions to Western Command (full stop)

As the rescue detatchment from the DT fleet came within range, seven SH-60 Sea Hawks luanched from the FFG-7s, joining the Wolf Hold to find survivors. The Um al Maradim's weren't far from the reck and prepared inflatable rescue rafts to pull the DI sailors out of the water and onto their ships.

Circling above, an EA-18G Growler intercepted the Saevitian transmission as it was jammed. The signal was processed and listened to on one of the E-3 Sentrys. It was relayed to command and an appropriat response was sent back and the original message forwarded out to all parties.

To Saevitian Western Command
Your assistance in this manner is not required, nor will your threats be appeased. All your active targeting devices have been detected by EW aircraft and any weapons release on your part will result in their complete destruction. Long range weapons are prepared to intervene on any attack you submit to this conflict.

The Radio tech watched as his captains face turned a red in anger. Slamming his fist into the command console he cursed loudly, "Why in the name of god does everyone presume to give us orders!" Walking over to the radio desk he sent back a reply.

[Start Transmission]
To Saevitian Western Command
This is the WHS White Fang, you are about the 3rd person to order me to disengage, So I will repeat my self for the last time, we are currently occupied in the rescuing of one of our carriers damaged in the engagement and we are also rescuing sailors of the Daniel Islands Carrier. If I detect any missile launches, the missiles will be shot down by my air power and we will consider it an act of war upon our republic. Now why don’t you go do something useful like polishing your brass and leave the fighting to the real militaries. [End Transmission]

In the mean time, the Wolf Hold Sea Hawks were picking up the stranded DI sailors supported by DT S&R teams, the S&R Co-ordinator sent a flash to the DT ships.

"Sir? Any orders?" The young man at the first terminal raised his head. "Do you want me to launch any missiles?"

"What? No, of course not," the Major assured him. "Waste missiles on something like that? Do you know how expensive those things are to produce? Seriously, whose dumb idea was it to develop a surface-to-air missile with a nine hundred kilometre range?" He shook his head. "Anyway, there hasn't been any shooting going on since we sent it out. Put me back on the line."

Thank you for being so willing to submit to our orders (stop) We appreciate that disengagement may require some time due to damage sustained and rescue operations, but are pleased that you have chosen to cease fire rather than risking the wrath of the CSSA (stop) We are especially interested to hear from the Aquidneckians, in whose national waters this dispute appears to have originated (stop) once again please direct all future transmissions to Western Command (full stop)

"What in the name of Sam Hill is the Wolf Hold doing!?!" yelled the DT commander overseeing the conflict as he recieved reports of their latest actions that were sending them into a direct confrontation with Heaton forces. "Lock down all their communications, stop forwarding their radio signals through and jam everything they have that uses more power than a microwave oven."

His orders were carried out and the Wolf Hold planes in the air were cut off completely from their controllers and their ships. The holds of all five B-52s opened up to let the rotary luanchers lower themselves partially into the air stream beneath the planes. The 8 multi-role fighters also prepared to fire along with the DT fleet in the water below. An Aim-120 AMRAAM was loaded up for each Wolf Hold plane and radar painted them from every direction to set off warning sirens in the cockpits and send the message to the pilots that any aggressive action would not be tolerated.

An E-3 controller sent out a message to the Wolf Hold pilots:
"Lock weapons and return to your carriers. Agression towards Heaton forces will not be tolerated."
The only communication that would be forwarded through the jam to the pilots would be an order to stand down.

Meanwhile, combined search and rescue operations continued between DT and WH ships even as the atmosphere between them grew tense. The 40mm guns on the bow of the fast attack craft assisting in the rescue turned on the WH ship(s) (OOC: I don't remember what you have at the rescue) and Sea Skua missiles were fed firing solutions for the ships as well. Similarly the FFG-7s fed solutions to theri RIM-66 missiles and Mark-32 torpedoes as well as training their 76mm guns on the enemy.

One of the Growlers providing close air support for the rescue buzzed warningly close to the WH ship(s) to warn them of their peril. A message was sent from the DT ships to the WH ships: "Continue with rescue operations and depart when you have recovered your rescue helicoptors. Then proceed to regroup with your fleet. If any of your weapons systems are detected activating it will be considered a severe act of aggression."

Control of the situation was quickly slipping out of DT's hands. If resistance to the wishes of outside nations continued, the peacekeeping forces would undoubtedly become involved in a blood bath between the Heaton, WH, and Aquidneckia.

Rathert than returning to the carrier, Lion, cheetah, and puma squads attacked the aquidneckiese fighers. Puma leader and Lion 3 got behind a pair of Su-15s, locked onto them, and fired their sidewinder missiles.

The Su-15s, had though everything was over, the enemy aircraft had retreated, and the thread seemed to have concluded, when two Su-15s were blow out of the sky by Pyshoria aircraft. The others quickly took evasive action, and attempted to turn the tables on the new enemy. Meanwhile the MiG-21bis, dropped down on the Pyshoria aircraft, quickly locking onto their targets, launching 5 R-73M missiles at Cheetah squadron.

While the fighting had seemed to die down, four salvage tugs, was dispatched to tow the D.I 21 Ark to the nearby Sanderson Naval Shipyard, for extensive repairs. Three Aquidneckese Coast Guard Ka-25PS helicopters were dispatched from shore stations to begin the rescue process of the Daniels Island sailors.

Most of the Four Heatons survivors had either been taken onto the ACGC North Wood, or taken by helicopter, to shore facilities for further treatment. One of the last lifeboats still in the water, was that with the flight crew in it.

The D.I Tornado GR4's Screamed through the air as they flew in attack formation...

One after another flew along the DT's Carrier taking out the marines as they ran from the ammuntion being fired...

"Take Carrier out!" Yelled Spartan Leader as his fighter ripped just above the heads of DT Carrier the targets were DT's Aircrafts placed on the carrier the GR4's continued circling and swooping into the attack of the carrier...

OOC: There is no carrier.

IC: DT commanders picked up on the DI and WH aggressions in their early stages and did not hesitate. 12 Sea Skua and 14 RIM-66 anti-ship missiles flew from the rescue boats along with the shells from their respective guns at both DI ships and WH ships assisting in the rescue operations. The rescue choppers returned to their ships and every DI sailor aboard a DT ship was taken prisoner. Even as the rescue party fired their missiles they turned and steamed back for the bulk of the fleet that was fast approaching.

In the air the fighter squadrons where already locked onto WH planes and ready to attack. The moment they were painted with radar they loosed their own own salvo of AIM-120s and jinxed away to avoid being hit. Higher above them the 5 B-52s switched their targeting to the new DI planes and fired at them as well. A missile flew at every attacking plane, two missiles for some of the WH planes.

When the enemy missiles came to bear, three of the fighters were destroyed, the missiles targeting them having broken through the radar decoys and electronic clutter, a testament to the missiles' ability. One of them was of the EW variant which left more strain on the remaining three to suppress the enemies communications. They turned up all five pods to their maximum power to fight the WH counter-electronic warfare. However, it was easy for the pods to track the resistance to the jamming back to the WH AWACS and this signal provided an unbreakable lock on the target. One of the DTS Idyllic, one of the battlecruisers, fired two RIM-174 AA missiles at the AWACS using this trageting information.

Meanwhile, one Super Hornet had broken his missile lock early, losing it in the radar dummy being towed behind a nearby Stratofortress. An attack was expected on DTs own E-3s and it moved quickly to fescort one. As it arrived, Raccoon flight was bearing on the AWACS. The pilot loaded up four TALON missile defense munitions and radioed to the fleet below. "This is Bumblebee-4. Requesting sea support to engage hostiles south of Red-Alpha."

The Idyllic responded. "Affirmative Bumblebee-4, luanching now." A pair of RIM-66s flew from the decks of the Idyllic to each of the planes in Racoon flight. And still there were luanchers and missile to spare. The 13 Um al Maradim assault ships left with the main fleet fired their Mistral surface-to-air missiles at the DI GR4's buzzing around the fleet.

On the bridge of the small fleet's flag ship, Admiral Montcalm was not surprised to hear the reports of the attacks. He remarked this to the captain. "I knew they were fools the moment we sailed in. Even as tensions rose dangerously high they continued to harrass and attack each other. This misunderstanding has been blown far out of proportion," he sighed.
"Yes, I agree Admiral. But we are embroiled quite heavily in this conflict now," the captain, a stout man by the name of Richard.
"Now that we have been attacked, they will have to feel the brunt of our nations might.," Montcalm surmised. "Open fire on both their fleets, I will call for additional ships."

The 2nd Strategic Defense fleet, though the smallest formation in the DT navy, was by no means lacking in fire power. Meant as a show of force as much as it was to decimate the enemy ships, the salvo Captain Richard prepared is best described as overkill, even considering the larger fleets of the enemies it targeted. 720 missiles launched from the battlecruisers alone split at a ratio of 2:1 between C-802 AShM and Tomahawk SSM, all but 120 at the distant WH fleet. The remaining 120 headed towrads the much nearer DI fleet along with 26 Sea Skua antiship missiles and 16 Harpoon anti-ship missiles from the support craft. The DI ships were also in range of the fleets bigger guns, the 10 Battlecruisers firing their 250mm and 140mm cannons along with the battleships 9x Mark 7 guns, 12x Mark 12 guns and 32 BGM-109 Tomahawk cruise missiles and 16 Harpoon anti-ship missiles.

For a grand total of 600 missiles at WH and 210 missiles at DI plus the fleet's combined broadside.

But even as this terrifying and expensive cloud of destruction rose from the decks of the DT fleet, 16 F-22 Raptor air superiority fighters took off from the DT base to intercept enemy fighters in the next stage of the battle and replacments for the Super Hornets and Growlers followed suit.

Over the defening sound of the battleships broadside, Admiral Montcalm struggled to concentrate on the message he was writing. He wrote back to central command to send any available ships to aid his fleet. Even as he put the finishing touches on the communications and sent it out he knew what the response would be.
1) The closest reinforcements were 24 hours away, around the mainland and in the waters closer to Deserted Territories. But that was no problem, he was sure he could hold the enemies off long enough, if they didn't turn tail when they saw what was coming. Which brought him to point number 2.
2) He knew the only fleet not currently engaged in some other crisis happened to be DT's largest fleet, the 1st Conflict Intervention Fleet. It was made up of mostly smaller ships, but losts of them, designed for force projection. It would serve quite handy in this conflict.

The Captain yelled out orders as he was bombarded by warnings! "Sir, Four Heatons ships are going Hostile!" A radar tech called out, "Have the Kirovs engage them! They hit the ships deck in a giant ball of fire and balck smoke.

The Wolf Hold Task Force responed to the incomming missile with an equal barrage of missiles, the Missile crusisers emptied their magazines at the DT ships, most of the DT missiles were shot down however some got through.

<F/A-18 Pair>

The Trailing jet was destroyed but the leading one was able to get missile locks on all four B-52's one after the other, each had an AIM-120 speeding towards it. The F/A-18 then took a missile to it's engines sending it heading for the sea.

Admiral Lower Class Griffin Yeats stood at the bridge of his Dreadnought (Not a classic one, so don't get all pissy), the FWS Franco, overlooking the ships in his armada. Most of them were AA ships and Nimitz carriers (Along with a couple of Gerald R. Fords), but several wolf packs of T-212 submarines and even a pair of GWO-Modified Akulas were slinking around somewhere. A few Destroyers were present to provide some protection against attacking fleets, but the main defense against attackers would be the air capabilities of the fleet.

The Admiral was looking forward to this; satellite feed had shown him that the belligerents in question weren't really much to worry about, especially not to a fleet like his. Yeats had only had one bad experience on the seas. It was a battle near Greenland against the Red Tideans. He had lost dozens of ships and planes to them, but the Red Tide still withdrew. Afterwards, he had been demoted from a position of Admiral, Upper Class to Rear Admiral, only recently getting promoted to an Admiral, Lower Class.

(OOC: PLEASE READ: There never were and still aren't any DT carriers. All the DT aircraft are launching from a base within an operational radius from the battlezone, including the F-22s. so don't attack a DT carrier, all the planes are taking off from solid, dry land.)

As the DT salvo reached the WH fleet and their response took to the skies, counter-measures were already prepared. S-300 missiles from the Battlecruisers matched up a goodly number of the missiles and took them out of play long before they reached their targets. As they grew closer Sea Darts thinned their ranks even further and finally CIWS systems did their best to knock a few more off. The missiles affects were minimized in this manner, with hardly any of the attack penetrating the formation and reaching the capital ships. 6 Um al Maradims were critically damaged and had to be abandoned, an FFG-7 took a solid hit amid ships and turned slowly to limp back to base. Two of the Battlecruisers had near-misses and sustained significant damage to their hulls and deck, cutting their speed and effectivness by a third. By the time the WH wave made it to the DTS Bluebonnet all that was left was a rogue piece of shrapnel that decapitated one unlucky sailor.

With fires to put out, repairs to attend to and luanchers to reload the sailors became very busy. The main guns continued to fire as fast as they could reload and everything that was still loaded got a target.

Long before the B-52s made it over the fleet, they were detected and frigates launched another 2 RIM-66 missiles to accompany the FH attack.

Another expolsion wracked the ship, "Another hit?" The same tech as before answered "Yes Sir, a broadside from the FH ships!" Looking at the ships status screen, he could see that there were some hits to the hull and superstructre, "Damage control teams to those areas! Oh and a relaitory broadside if you please XO!"

The remaining 12 inch guns of the WHS White Fang turned in there turrets and unleashed a slavo of shells at the FH Flagship, alongside this a swarm of 120 SS-N-19 Shipwreck Missiles headed for the FH flagship.

The CIWS support of the Battleship and her escorts shot down the missile and the ENd All Class's heavy armour allowed her to shurg off the hit with minimal damage to primary system. She fired another two broadsides at the enemy carrier. The escrots fired Harpoons at the enemy cruisers. The Dreamfall continued to fire Broadside roughly every minute as they were reloaded

"Reload the SS-N-19s, they obviously have firing solutions keep firing as we move, All ahead full, we need to sink that Flagship!" The White Fange began to move out of the FH flagships line of fire and continued to fire broadsides. The Kirov Battlecruisers of the 81st response force continued to fire their SS-N-19 Shipwreck, which using there unique swarm missile system sped for the Dreamfall. Then the captain of the White Fang rembered the 2 Typhoon Class attached to his Task force. Getting on his radio, he hoped they had their comms mast up. Luckily they did. "WHS Unity and Opression you are to go deep and move close to the FH Flagship, once close you are to open fire with all the weaponry you have, ram her if you have to! Sink her and your names will forever rembered as hero's of the republic!"

The Only response The captain got was that of the two submarines disappering of sonar.

The Regrouped F/A-18's took advantage of the distraction caused by the Dreamfall, flying low and fast they we're able to get back into range of the Wolf Hold ships. Within seconds nearly 200 Anti-ship missiles were fired at nearly point blank range.

"Vampire! Vampire! Vampire! Incomming! Brace for impact! Brace for Impact!" Too late had the radar techs noticed the F/A-18s and their missiles, CIWS and flack got about 60 but that left 140 streaking towards the ships and some target DI ships but that left 100 missiles for wolf hold ships, the missiles brackated the 1st of the remaining two carriers sending it up in flames, large stress fractures opening in its hull, a Kirov was also sunk and two others damaged, finnaly the White Fang was now listing slightly as even her improved armour could not stand against such punisment.. However the F/A-18s attack would not last long the 8 specalist Aegis Anti-Air destroyers and the opperational Kirovs launched there multitude of SAM weaponry a total of 200 SAMs flew into the air after the F/A-18. As well as the SAM barrage facing them, 12 F-22s came in underneath them and began unleashing missiles and sidewinders off at close to point blank range.

The surving Rafle Ms which were loaded with Anti-Ship Missiles took advantage of the loss of aircover over the Dreamfall and using similar tactics the Rafle Ms unleashed there larger anti ship missiles straight at the battleship.

"Sir active sonar is pinging us sir.Thinking for a moment " go down deep, as deep as possible" Captain Nikoli ordered, stroking his small beard. The submarine passed the saline layer which would deter most passive sonar, then they passed the safe zone for there hulls, popping noises could be heard as the hull began to suffer under the pressure. "use the sound of the carrier exploding to mask the sound of flooding our torpedo tubes, make sure you relay this to the others"

OOC: What the hell DI?, those that we'n't shot down by my Battleships escorts or my Harriers would have been able to fire, those missile would have been shot down, only one or two whould have hit, and you can't just claim that 120 missiles just hit target.

<F/A-18's>

Their mission completed they tried to get back to the carrier group, none made it back alive, though some had ejected.

<FHS Excellence>

A cheer was heard through fleet as the first carrier was destroyed, and the WHite fang listing. The Problem now was the lack of Superhornets and the small amount of Harriers.

<FHS DReamfall>

The Harriers from the Invicible Class's were too slow to get off the deck. Whilst the SAM cover was able to shoot down some of the enemy jets, and the CIWS shot down some of the missiles, two missiles hit the Dreamfall in the stern.
"We've lost the portside engines" A engineer reported "Damage control responding, we'vve also lost our aft SAMs, we'll have to rely on the escorts SAM cover.

"And.....Mark!"

The two typhoons kicked there engines into full and began to rise noses facing the underside of the FHS Dreamfall. "Clearing danger zone, ok we can fire torpedos, we are in range!" Nodding Nikoli smirked "In the name of the Wolf FIRE! All torpedos Fire! Lauch tube 1 through to 6!" Okay you got our co operation what do you want?

Before a response could be made, a nuclear explosion occurred.

Drifting somwhere in the ocean close to both fleets and any GWO forces in the area, was the Nuclear reactor from the WHS Ratchet, its armored compartment had survived the suicide run and was now about to go critical.

The resulting shockwave and explosion expanded for 3 miles and threw radiation into the stratosphere

It was extremely luckily, that the fleet battles were quite a distance of shore, and that the prevailing winds, would carry the resulting radiation away from Aquidneckia. On Foxtrot class submarine, however, was destroyed in the explosion. The Salvage tugs, had managed to tow the D.I. 21 Ark, to a safe distance, before the explosion. However, much of the eastern coast, would see some radiation, and it would put a damper on fishing, what was a major food staple, and industry for Aquidneckia. The Four Heaton civilians had been rescued, as had many from the D.I. 21 Ark.

(OOC: Daniels Island, can I get some info on the D.I. 21 Ark, specs and what not? If it's acceptable to you, I would like to repair, and keep it for naval use. I am sure that your people assume it was destroyed with the rest of the ships in the area.)

OOC: Whoops, missed the party.

IC: (Fluid Time) - before explosion:

"Oh no they don't," said Admiral Montacalm of the fleeing DI ships. "Make chase!"

The DT fleet was relatively removed from the Four Heatons and WH battle, but close enough to make an attack on the DI fleet before they got away. Another full compliment of AShM missiles were loaded up to strike them as they turned tail.

In the air, the scant remains of the original Super Hornets were relieved by fresh planes which took their place in the dogfight above the FH ships. The F-22s had altered course to fight the DI planes, but just as the critical moment came to bear, the enemy hit the after burners to engage the FH ships. By the time the F-22s had circled back over the fleet and were about to get new orders, the DI planes were already returning, flying in and right back out of the battle. As the number of enemy planes grew, commanders didn't want to take their chances and the messae went out to yield to the 91 DI F-22s.
"Okay, Buggin' out." The F-22s turned tail and rocketed back to base.

As that drama unfolded, the fleet was ready to fire and leading firgates had turned, in range to fire torpedos.

Admiral Montcalm made his way to the bridge of the DTS Bluebonnet, where he was told the fleet was ready to carry out his order. "Very good," he said. "Fi--"

The floating reactor failed and sent sensitive equipment buzzing and beeping in objection. He watched as explosions rippled through the fleets and saw million dollar jets, specks from this distance, tumble from the air like so many peices of ash.

Alarms sounded and sailors rushed to the protection of steel bulk heads as a shockwave hit and radioactive trash showered the ship. "Cancel the attack," the Admiral ordered as reports of the lost Super Hornets and one of the E-3s having gone down reached his ears. "Turn back, we're done in these waters."

The remaining E-3, stationed above the fleet and the adequately high B-52s returned to base.
Some of the smaller ships had taken damdage from the shockwave and many crewman were already injured, countless more would surely fall sick in the coming weeks and days.

As the dust, debris and clouds left by missiles and explosions cleared, a view of the broken sea was revealed. The U-2 spyplane drifted lazily high over the wrecked ships, recording the damage.

Stricken hulls, unidentifyable debris; it all drifted equally depressed. After it had surveyed the last of the damage, thick and dark clouds drifted over the area obscuring the cameras view, no doubt partly formed by the exhaust and explosions the battle had produced.

The U-2 made a slow banking turn to reach some other obscure corner of the world and sailed on its high aspect ratio over the horizon and away.
