Death, Destruction, Decadence, A New Nation is Born!

(OOC: This an open RP and introductory as well as Modern Tech, if anyones interested in future RPing with this nation then just let me know or we can just get started off of this premise.)

The skys were gray over the crumbling city of Moralis, the result of which could either be through natural occurrence or through the ruthless fighting that had gone on there for the past few decades. Bodies were in the streets and blood soaked the fragmented cement of the fledgling city's foundation. Moralis was the constantly disputed capitol of the ever divisive and never peaceful nation of Ecmoria. From it's very beginning it has been embroiled in some civil war or another, the various ethnic groups entrapped within its borders only coming to temporary agreements and ceasefires before the guns blazed again. In fact, much of the nation's general history is unknown due to the constant warfare. In the last three decades escalations in hostilities between countrymen had particularly hightened, with two rival factions going head to head in a series of battles that left millions dead and millions more wounded. But alas it seems as though one had finally come out victorious, the faction went by the name "Ecmoria's People Party", but were informally known as the "Mountain Men".

They hailed from East Ecmoria's rocky terrain and had in recent times expanded from their mountain homes down to the valleys and countrysides below eventually enveloping the entire nation under their control with a final battle occurring at Moralis. Civilians were indifferent to this change of regime, because in Ecmoria that meant nothing, they knew that peace wouldn't last long, it never did. But for now there was one dominant power in the nation and one source of order and law.

The leader of these "Mountain Men" was self proclaimed "Emperor" Guvel Shnav, a huge, ruthless, ape of a man who commanded his men with a heart and fist of iron. Today he sat in the ruins of the Capitol Building surrounded by his advisors with his massive, booted feet reclined on a dusty, old desk in what was Ecmoria's equivalent of an "Oval Office". A cheap cigar hung out of the edge of his bearded mouth and his hairy hands rested on his bellowing stomach as he reclined and soaked in his own greatness. He wore a Russian style hat atop his wild, stringy, blonde head and it just barely came above his shifty brown eyes.

"Men!", he bellowed to those around him, "The war is over, we are victorious! We have stomped our opposition into the ground beneath them and we have raped their next of kin as well as take all of their Earthly possessions! Are we awesome? Or are we awesome?"

"Aye!!!", shouted the dozen or so men around him.

"Now that Ecmoria is ours, now that it is united underneath our booted feet we must bring it back up, we must rebuild, we must solidify our stranglehold on this nation!"

"Aye!!!", shouted the men again.

"We must stop killing our own countrymen, however satisfying it my be and become a real nation! Our fragmentation ends today! Send out messages to surrounding nations letting them know of our resources and our desire to rebuild, we'll need some outside help and they'll need motivation to lend a hand. I'm sure knowledge of our abandoned gold mines and our untapped oil fields in the East will give them all the encouragement they need. Get it done as I say, and as quickly as possible, Ecmoria has greatness to achieve!"

Shnav's Deputy of Foreign Affairs grunted and quickly complied, as he exited the room and looked frantically around for a computer in the all but hollowed out building.

"Pass me that AK!", shouted Shnav to a soldier who stood next to him, the soldier tossed him the weapon and Shnav gripped it firmly and walked outside to the steps of the building. He looked out at the desolate, empty, grim streets and at the inumerable dead which littered them. He looked at all the crumbling buildings, set ablaze by the impact of a neverending war. He hoped for change, that one day these buildings would be rebuilt and that Ecmoria's shattered, disgustingly poor economy would be able to someday stand up on its own. But first......Shnav pointed the AK-47 into the sky with his right hand and shot it several times in the air whilst screaming like a mad man. "You are mine Ecmoria!!! You are mine!!!"

(OOC: Ecmoria was almost completely isolated until now and many of it's natural resources are untapped due to constant warfare. I figured this would give people an incentive to get involved . Also Ecmoria's military is almost completely militia with the exception of a few 80's era tanks and a very small and limited airforce that is now under "Mountain Men" control. So if you want to invade and attempt take the entire place for yourself be my guest as long as you can RP it properly .)

OOC: I am not really willing to throw my whole country into the fray but do you think it would be possible if I portray a militant faction from my country trying to gain control. Right now my country is in no way, shape, or form ready to attack anyone.)

(OOC: Of course, this is kind of just free formed, I used to RP a lot back in the day and now that I have some time on my hands I'm trying to get back into it. We can go ahead and start it off if you want.)

ASV Dobbs Carrier Strike Group
Alliance Star Confederation Navy
Approx. 242 Nautical Miles from local airspace

On the deck were rampant motions made by pilots, as F-35Cs were in their final stages of pre-flight check with internal bay ordinance retrofitted with Air Superiority role within the nation; as the pilots themselves received final flight instructions for their soon to be incursion into the nation's airspace. After receiving clearance from neutral airspace, the Alliance Star Confederation prepared to intervene for the betterment of the fact of human life and human rights within the respective nation. It was also an opportunity for the sitting Administration to get a bump on their current approval rating, and to showcase the ability of the nation as a whole. The strike group as a whole formed into a defensive spread to thwart inbound Anti-Ship missiles, with the survival of the carrier taking precedence. The F-35Cs began to taxi along the moving deck of the Dobbs, as the pilots made final flight checks and would soon to be departing the decks of the vessel itself.

Alliance Star Air Force
347th Tactical Air Wing

C-17s from Allendorf Naval Air Force base in the island chain of Virgo, within the Alliance Star Confederation itself were busy being filled with various combat forces of prepositioned Brigade Combat Teams in their efforts against the nation, as well as re-fuelers, tactical bombers, and fighters. They'd still need a bit of time to mark their deployment from the Constellation Islands to the far reaches of the now noisy nation of Ecmoria.

(OOC: Alright, I'm just going to go keep going along to explain the story a bit more.)

Things had calmed down in Moralis these past few days and all pockets of resistance had been neutralized. The rival faction had ceased to be and their leader was beheaded and his innards tossed into the streets. His body was dragged behind a civilian truck with a mounted machine gun on it's bed all the way through the perimeters of the city. Citizens lined the streets as the desacrated remains of a body whizzed by them and threw rotten vegetables, rocks and spit at it as it left smeared blood in its trail. Shnav's troops were taking quarters in citizens' homes until a formal base was established. Hookers and rather loose women had already begun to offer themselves to the victors, which created squabbles between Shnav's soldiers and disgruntled husbands which almost always ended with the husband either standing down or laying down with the force of a bullet. Wild celebrations went on into the night with soldiers enjoying their fill of alcohol, women and local music as they trashed the streets in a drunken stupor.

Emperor Shnav made it a point to survey his new city in a beatup old humvee and made small talk with a few important figureheads. So far no rebuilding had begun and people still lived in hull's of apartment buildings and houses, the dust from war was still settling in the streets. Shnav's government structure was yet unclear, although it was almost certainly to shape up to be a dictatorship as it was an Ecmorian tradition to follow under this kind of leadership.

There are four languages and dozens of different tribes in Ecmoria, but only three prominent ones which have contested for rule over the centuries. The Amorlians in the West, who are known for their stubberness, their particular pride in tradition and their dedication to their religion. There are the Monlinans in the South, who are known for their love of confrontation and their expertise in guerilla warfare. Lastly there were the Azkans, of which Shnav was a part of and the current leader, who resided in the mountains to the East. They are known most for their relentless partying, their love of all things sinful, and their ferocious appetite for land. All of these different people confined within the same borders make for inevitable conflict with only brief peace in between.

Peace had been signed with the other two tribes and as of now all control and power rested on the shoulders of Shnav and the Azkans. All that was needed now was a source of outside help to assist in the rebuilding effort and to solidify Shnav's position as leader before it was inevitable contested by either a rival tribe, or a jealous follower within his own ranks.

To: Emperor Guvel Shnav

Your Imperial Majesty,

We congratulate you to your victory against the corrupt former government. It is with great gladness that we see that a strong and noble man such as yourself will be in control of Ecmoria. Undoubtedly, the nation will prosper greatly under such a just and wise ruler. We offer our assistance in rebuilding your nation and your armed forces. We can supply your soldiers with state-of-the-art training and weapons, we can rebuild your cities and your infrastructure, we can even help you stomp out what remains of the forces of the former government. All we ask in return is that you decrease tariffs on Zaheranian goods and that you let our corporations buy the oil fields and gold mines that you are apperently in possession of. We will of course pay for any infrastructure necessary to start the oil extraction and gold mining. As both of these industries need much personnel, we expect that up to a hundred thousand jobs will be created just during the first year. This will, of course, further benefit Ecmoria in its economic recovery.

Yours sincerely,

((OoC: Hey, do you have a: Map, Geographic World Placement, general numbers of the various militant groups?))

OOC: We seemed to have posted around the same time which I guess is a good things because I unknowingly answered a few questions lol. But as of right now I don't have a map but I could make one, albeit it might be kind of shabby. Ecmoria has an ocean to it's west though, valleys and plains in the south and is mountainous in the east, which is where my buddy Shnav comes from. Shnav is in control of a militia of about 40,000, who are armed with anything from to AK-47s to RPGs. They're trained almost exclusively in guerilla warfare but are essentially rather unorganized compared to a formal military force. The Azkans have a few dozen Soviet era tanks at their disposal as well as less than 10 Soviet era assault helicopters as well. Troops primarily travel in a few old troop transports, as well as civilian trucks and SUVs. Shnav controls the capitol but that doesn't mean he's uncontested, the other tribes I mentioned are vying for control too so you could communicate with them as well if you want to overthrow the Azkans. Also Azkan's stronghold in the East is abundant with natural resources but is deep within their territory. I'll try to make a map soon though if you want.

"Be wary of them Emperor, they may seek to suck us dry and leave.", Mikal said to Shnav after getting the go ahead to begin communications with Zaheran. "Fear not Mikal! This is Ecmoria and we are not to be trifled with! If they were to try such a scandal the grounds of this great nation would turn to fire beneath their feet! Grant them entry, they are developed and we will need their help."

"Aye, Emperor", said Mikal and off he went to relay the message.

OOC: mind if I RP an ultra-wealthy businessman from my nation having a meeting with Shnav, to talk about an "offer" for him and his new government?

OOC: Sure, Shnav is open to anything right now and Alliance Star, what program do you normally use when map making?

Robert Stevens walked slowly up the steps of the palace of the new "Emperor" of Ecmoria, humming to himself. He wore an elegant and obviously incredibly expensive black suit, and held an ivory cane in one hand, the cap of which was a very large diamond. Sunlight glittered off of two exquisitely-decorated golden rings in his hands. Behind him were half a dozen guards, all dressed in suits as well. Stevens smrked to himself, looking around him as he walked. Quite a bit of potential. It just needs a...guiding hand.

The group reached to top of the steps and approached one of the palace guards. "Excuse me my good sir," Robert asked the man, giving him a friendly smile. "but I am here to see your Emperor. Could you perhaps direct me to him?"

The guard's face was dirty with sut and his fatigues showed their battles with holes and patches. His boots were covered in dirt and he wore a black skull cap that covered his ears and forehead. He had an AK-47 slung over his shoulder and he gripped his side pistol as he spoke with the fancy man. "Aye, I might can do that for you, but I need to know who you are and what you need with him.", he said as he readjusted the tobacco in his mouth and spit some of it off to the side. Four of his comrades walked down the steps with AK's as well and ready to fire if necessary. The guards looked the men up and down, highly suspicious of these newcomers, they definitely weren't Ecmorian, and they most certainly were of wealth.

"Ah, yes." Stevens chuckled. "I do apologize for not introducing myself initially. I am Robert Stevens, head of the Sumguaian Commercial Federation and currently the wealthiest man in the Hegemony. My total assets are worth in excess of six trillion Universal Standard Dollars. I have a proposition for your Emperor which would be very beneficial for him, your nation, and myself."

Several hundred yards away, a number of what appeared to be passers-by watched the scene.

The guard grinned a brown toothed smile and looked back at his comrads who were also showing off their less than satisfactory dental hygiene with gap toothed and crooked smiles. "Aye, you're that rich are you?", the guard said boastfully as he took a step forward and menacingly looked the man up and down before once again looking back at his comrades. "How about this? How about you give me 1,000 of those dollars you speak of, disarm yourself and your men if you are indeed armed and then and only then you can speak with the Emperor. Sound good?"

"Aye, sounds fantastic to me", chuckled one of other guards as he continued to carefully watch the men before him.

Robert laughed. "Give you money? My good sir, what makes you think that a trillionaire such as myself came to a war-torn country such as this one with only six bodyguards as protection? Try to take anything from me by force, and you will be dead within seconds" He continued to laugh, his eyes twinkling. "And why on earth would I enter into the "palace" of a man who until recently was a warlord without armed guards to ensure that some fool doesn't get the idea of kidnapping me? They accompany me until I reach the room where the Emperor is or," He reached into a pocket, taking out a stack of bills. "I just might change my mind about sharing these thirty-thousand Sumguaian dollars with you fine gentlemen."

04-02-2009, 23:11
"Aye, give me that stack you've got there and I'll take you where you need to go.", said the guard looking at the money greedily, eyes wide with desire. His comrades behind him looked pleasantly surprised at the wad of money and immediately began to ease their stances. "But try any funny stuff around the Emperor and it's off with the lot of you, either by death or by forced removal.", the guard said after regaining his composure.
Lord Sumguy
04-02-2009, 23:25
"I'm a businessman, not a suicidal fool." Robert said, He divided the stack into two smaller ones. "None of us would gain anything if I were to try any 'funny stuff'. I will give you half of this now, and half after you have taken me to see the Emperor." He smiled brightly, handing the guard one of the stacks. "Lead the way."

The guard sneered and snatched the money up stuffing it into his pocket, "My pleasure gentlemen, follow me.", he said with a sarcastic wave of the arm.

"You better break that off Schizel!!!", said one of the other guards in regards to the money.

"Of course.", said the guard with a suspicious smile as he lead the men into the building. He pushed through two heavy oak doors which gave way to a dusty, crumbling interior. The building had obviously been the subject of much abuse, some of it very recent as could be seen by the yet to be cleaned blood spattered stains that remained in odd places on the floors and walls. Speaking of walls, some of them were missing in their entirety, as was seen when they passed a soldier relieving himself on a toilet adjacent to the hallway they walked in. The soldier just gave the passing guard and his strange guests a wink as they passed by. Up ahead was a long hallway at the very end of which were two very high doors which was undoubtedly where the Emperor resided.

As they approached the doors manic cries could be heard behind them, it sounded as though someone were screaming, maybe chanting to the top of their lungs as they got closer to the doors. The guard looked back at his guest with another brown toothed smile and kept up the pace. The words coming from inside the doors were audible now...."And unto you, Adrianus the Mountain God, I offer a sacrifice! Accept it from me, your humble servant and continue to bless me with your generous fortune!"

"Here we are now.", said the guard as he pushed open one of the high doors to reveal Emperor Shnav, clothed in some sort of ceremonial robe and holding a jagged dagger high above his head. He brought the dagger down swiftly into the neck of a sheep that had been tied to the top of the desk in front of him. He screamed in an animal like manner as blood squirted from the squirming animal onto his forearms and robe. The Emperor's dozen or so onlookers looked around at each other nodding in approval at the manner of the sacrifice, it was quite remarkable and the gods would be pleased.

Emperor Shnav looked up at the guard and the men behind him, "Who have you brought before us during this sacred ceremony?", he bellowed. "This had better be of the upmost importance!"

"Aye sir, these men come from a land abroad and they are of wealth, this one here wishes to speak with you.", said the guard pointing to the man at the forefront.

"Indeed, Welcome to Ecmoria!", said the Emperor as he approached with an outheld bloody hand, "From what lands do you come?"

The Emperor was a large man standing over 6'5 and built much like a bear, it was unclear if he had on anything at all underneath his red ceremonial robe as he had it tied at the waist and he wore no shoes.

Bidistan Nationalist Forces Camp
25 miles west of Maligla

Tanner O'Mallay walked through the camp with a slight grin on his face as he continued on his way to the podium where most of the nationalist fighters had gathered. O'Mallay walked up to the podium where a microphone was setup and he removed the pipe from his mouth to speak. "Men! Welcome to your new home!" Tanner shouted as the men shouted with him. "We have come here in pursuit of a new life and the resources that come along with this nation. For too long we have pushed around by the former oppressors of our homeland and for too long have we stood by the wayside as we watched opportunities passed by our very eyes!" said Tanner ," No longer will we stand off to the side as those who stand above us shackle us and torment us. We will have our way and those who stand in our way will be crushed!" The men was raised to an almost zealous type of attitude as they cheered Tanner. Tanner raised his hands up in an attempt to silence his men and he said, "Now my Nationalist brothers in arms, go out! Go out and let the factions know that we are here to claim what they could not! Go out and take what they could not so that our brothers and sisters at home may have a new home away from that oppressive regime!" The men cheered him as Bidistan Nationalist anthem played from a cheap loudspeaker. Tanner walked away from the podium and towards the shoddily makeshift war tent. Tanner took his place at the head of the table overlooking a map of the war torn Ecmoria.

Tanner looked at his fellow officers and said "We must strike fast and efficiently, I feel that get the attention of the nations without pulling attention to ourselves is plant members of nationalist army within several of the major cities. We must gain support for our faction before we even decide to attack these factions. Setup BNF bases at Slamont, Hunvilia, Moralis, Ezka, and Ezka." One of officers piped up "Where should our home base be located?" Tanner eyed the officer and then spoke "Here at Slamont. Its location will allow for weapons and material to be transported in. From there we can distribute this to our brothers all around the country. Considering the shoddy security of this nation, it shouldn't be hard to perform this task." One of the officer spoke up again "We will need to disguise this under something, perhaps a political party?" The officers and Tanner discussed this idea for several minutes before agreeing unanimously and leaving the war tent to prepare for the operations at hand.

Tanner walked back to his tent and began to prepare his things for moving to the new base for the BNF at Slamont. He knew that this operation would require several months to implant the seeds of his doctrine and party within the war torn country. He sat down in his chair for one last time and lit up his pipe. Tanner was a slender, tall man in his thirties. He is usually seen sporting long, brown hair and a well-trimmed brown beard. He and most of his nationalist forces are of Scottish heritage. He was a former captain in the Bidistan Black Ops before he and his race suffered great discrimination at the hands of Bidistan government. As he sat, he thought about all the past events that brought him and his forces to this country. His reflections were soon interrupted by a nationalist soldier coming to the tent and telling him that his vehicle was ready and was awaiting him. Tanner stood up and walked out of the tent and into the vehicle which was on it's way towards Slamont.

"I come from the Holy Empire of Lord Sumguy, seat of the Hegemony." Robert said, shaking the man's hand, before taking out a napkin to wipe the blood off of his own absentmindedly. If the fact that a sheep had just been sacrificed disturbed him, he did not show it. "I wish to extend my congratulations on your ending of the war that has ravaged your nation for some time and your uniting of the scattered tribes here. However, I did not some here merely to praise your imperial majesty, and I have a proposition that could make you, and your nation, wealthier than you had ever dreamed possible." He smiled, and looked back at the guards. "Would you mind if we perhaps discussed it's details in private?"

The Emperor smiled and gave the man a hearty pat on the back, "Ah of course, you wish to discuss business, come let us go into my private quarters!", said the Emperor as he walked briskly past the man and a short distance forward to a door on the right. He roughly pushed the door open and walked inside. The room appeared to a be another office of sorts, it was smaller than the first and bore fewer scars of war than the former. The Emperor sat behind the desk that was positioned in front a window towards the end of the room. There were two seats on the other side of the desk and the Emperor beckoned his guest to sit down. Emperor Shnav sank back in his chair with his hands on his belly as his blonde, bushy chest hair shown through his robe.

The guard from the steps remained at the doorway glaring at Robert, "I'll expect the rest when you leave.", he said quietly out of the Emperor's earshot before leaving and closing the door.

"Come sit and let us speak, what is your name by the way?"
Lord Sumguy
05-02-2009, 02:03
"My name, sir, is Robert Stevens," Robert said, smiling, as he sat, propping up the opulent cane on the chair next to him. A tall, lean, and wiry man of only twenty-eight years, he seemed almost to be perpetually amused when one looked at him. "and I am currently the wealthiest man in the Hegemony."

He looked around at the room before meeting the Emperor's gaze again, wearing a faint grin. "Tell me, Mr. Shnav, what would you do for one hundred billion dollars?"

The Emperor brought a large grubby, blood stained hand up to his beard and slowly twiddled in it as he thought about the question. "Why that's hard to say....I'd do a number of things but nothing to compromise my own, or my nation's integrity! But with that money I'd do several things...perhaps crush my enemies or further Ecrmoria's economy...",he paused and then gave a coyish smile, "...or perhaps I'd buy enough weapons and arms to permantely stomp those fools who oppose me!", he seemed to daydream for a while before looking back at Robert. "Why is it you ask me this?", he asked with genuine curiosity, leaning forward in anticipation of Robert's answer.

All the while the this was going on there was a strange occurrence happening outside that was clearly visible from the window behind the Emperor. Shnav's militia appeared to be unloading bodies from a large storage truck and hurling them into a pile in the middle of the street. The bodies wore fatigues as well, suggesting they were once enemy combatants.

"Because, Emperor, I wish to inquire as to the possibility of my paying you personally one hundred billion Sumguaian dollars, which by the way equates to two hundred billion USD, another hundred billion to be divided among those in your government, and one hundred billion to be divided among your citizens, that is twenty thousand per person." Stevens leaned back before continuing. “All I request in return for the equivalent value of more than ten times your nation's gross domestic product is that you leave the furthering of your nation’s economy, the crushing of your enemies, and the creation of a prosperous sovereign, capitalist, republican government in Ecmoria to me and my associates.” He smiled. “You’ve done quite a lot in your life, Mr. Shnav, I am offering you the largest retirement package in the history of the world, unless of course you wish to continue as a general in the army of a new, wealthy, peaceful Ecmorian republic.”

“Why may you ask am I doing this?” He asked, chuckling. “Offering so much money so that I may ensure that your nation becomes a democracy, besides goodwill and my own love of liberty? Simply put myself and my fellows in the Commercial Federation have realized that in the long run, the three things which are most beneficial to business as a whole are stability, prosperity, and liberty. I don't believe I can do that, especially under the circumstances that I have no evidence of your proclaimed abilities! Aside from your flashy clothes and accessories I'm afraid you have shown me nothing to make accept this proposal of yours. I'll need more than that Mr. Stevens!", said the Emperor firmly before leaning back in his chair visibly upset, but not angered. Not everyone in Ecmoria could be so easily bought contrary to first impressions given by semi-corrupt guards.

Outside the window behind Emperor Shnav the militia had finished unloading the bodies and were now dousing them in some kind of fluid, the storage truck drove off and a soldier smoking a ciggarette approached the pile, a smug grin on his face as he spoke with his comrades around him. What was being said could not be heard however.

A P-28 civilian aircraft, with Ed States government decals, approached the coast of Ecmoria.
The pilot and co-pilot debated: "Jack, should we radio in? I don't know if these loons are gonna appreciate our flying around their airspace..."
"Will anyone respond? Ah, I guess we should. Give a call."

"Moralis Tower, United Ed States Three-Seven-Five-Six-Charlie inbound over the western coast, requesting landing near or in Moralis. We are arriving unannounced, here for business purposes." He repeated the call several times and waited for a response while the small aircraft continued inland.

They did not fear any miscommunication accidents with any Ecmorian troops, as an E-3 AWACS aircraft within range (but far off the coast) was monitoring the air and potential SAM activity. If any incident occurred, the P-28 was to flee immediately to the safety of international airspace.
And besides, if the aircraft and crew were destroyed, it would be of no great loss.

AT THE SAME TIME...
A very low-ranking UES government agent, with his compliment of three men, were speeding towards the Amorlian city of Slamont on a 15 foot ship. They came bearing gifts (including several wads of cash, some electronics/communications equipment, a few rifles, and a sample of gifts). Once they arrived, they hoped to find the leader of the Amorlian resistance and buy him over, just in case things fell through with the current regime...

Shnav's men had only recently taken control of the Moralis's only airport and had little understanding of the equipment within the control room. When a request came in through the transmitter asking for permission to land they were a bit taken aback. The highest ranking man in the room grabbed the reciever and responded back, "Aye, you can land here but don't expect no help landing!", the reply was followed by hearty laughter in the background.

At the very least they could rob these newcomers if they weren't the business men they claimed to be....or maybe even if they were.

Excellent. We will send a delegation as soon as possible. Due to the fact that several nations have stationed naval forces outside your coasts, possibly with hostile intent, the aiplane carrying our delegation will be escorted by two fighter aircraft. We ask you to be indulgent with this, as it was forced on us by factors not under our control. We can assure you that we have no intention of violating your airspace our your national sovereignity.

A Gulfstream G650 with the symbol of the Zaheranian airforce painted on its hull was flying over the Pacific Ocean, escorted by two F/A-18 Super Hornets from one of the two fleets permanently assigned to the Pacific. Their destination was Ecmoria, a country few Zaheranians had ever heard about. The thirteen men onboard the luxury aircraft were no exceptions, they had been informed of the nation's existance mere hours ago. Now they were quickly going through what information was available about Ecmoria, to ready themselves for their visit to the country. Despite the short notice and the lack of information, the motley group of diplomats and representatives for major corporations were still enthusiastic and optimistic. Backed by the Imperial Treasury and the capitals of several of the most powerful corporations in the Empire, they were sure that they would be able to secure an agreement giving them control over the natural resources in Ecmoria, ensuring massive profits for years to come. And if Shnav wasn't cooperative, surely one of his generals would be. After all, loyalty often went where the money was, and they had a lot of money to offer.

As the planes reached Ecmorian airspace, a message requesting landing permission was sent to the authorities.

Shnav's men were very amused by this, "Well it's a party then isn't it?", said the highest ranking before he again picked up the reciever. "You have been given permission to land. Uh....do you have any sandwiches? Turkey sandwiches?", the soldier looked back at his comrades snickering and the room erupted in laughter.

"I could get used to this job! Maybe Shnav'll stick me up here when this situation's all sorted out!", laughed the soldier.

Hunvilia, Amorlian Territory

Amorlian militiamen returned back to Hunvilia defeated and in retreat, after maintaining a steady grip on Moralis for the past five years they had been ousted by the Mountain Men, uncivilized brutes from the East. The fighting had been ferocious, countrymen against countrymen in bogged down urban combat, each fighting for seperate ideals which ironically centered around the same theme, peace. Amorlian defenses had crumbled underneath the Azkan onslaught, they seemed to come down from the mountains in a crazed fervor by the droves until they had completely exhausted the Amorlians and forced their retreat. Now they returned to their homeland within a homeland, Amorlia, broken and battered forced to accept the Azkans victory as well as their terms of peace. The Azkans now layed claim to all of Ecmoria, stating that the entire country should now bend down to their regime and accept unification under their rule.

This troubled Laninus Marc deeply, the leader of the Amorlian people and "struggle". He watched his defeated and demoralized troops come back reluctantly to Hunvilia and he feared that his people might face persecution under a new Azkan regime. The Azkans were reportedly already in contact and in negotiations with several powerful nations who undoubtedly were offering support in exchange for access to Ecmoria's natural resources and if not that then perhaps control of Ecmoria completely. Laninus considered his Azkan counterpart Shnav to be nothing short of a fool and was certain that he could do no good as the leader of Ecmoria. Shnav as he knew him was nothing more than a tyrant and Laninus had heard that he had already proclaimed himself as "Emperor". This news sickened him deeply.

Laninus struggled with the reality that was surfacing around him, "How could the Gods allow such a travesty? How could he allow Ecmoria to fall in the hands of this madman, this caveman, this beast?", Laninus asked his council.

"The Gods have put it in our hands, Laninus, we must do what needs to be done for the sake of our people, of our nation.", said a councilman.

"I am in complete agreeance with you, but how are we to do this when we do not have the means? Are forces are depleted, the Azkans could sweep in and finish us off now if they wished to.", said Laninus grimly.

"Which is why we must request outside help, we cannot do this alone. We have to open communications as the Azkans have. If remain isolated then we will surely be defeated.", said another councilman.

"What of the Monlinians? They have been suspiciously quiet during this ordeal, perhaps they would be willing to enter an alliance to overthrow Shnav and his regime.", said another councilman.

"To hell with them, they are no better than the Azkans. Even if they were to agree to such an alliance then we would find ourselves fighting them once the Azkans are defeated...thus the cycle continues.", Laninus strode around the room, his hands behind his back and his head hung low in thought. He was a tall man in his late 40's, his hair was grayish black, but his face did not show his age. He wore a monk styled robe like his four councilmen which was customary during such precedings.

"We need outside forces, Monlinians cannot be trusted in any long term matter. We must convince the world that if anyone is to unite Ecmoria, if anyone is to bring peace to this land it must be us! That is our only choice, have a message sent out to neighboring nations immediately letting them know of these dire circumstances. We cannot allow Shnav to fool the world, he does not speak for the Ecmorian people and never will, I cannot allow it. This meeting is adjourned.", said Laninus and he turned his back on his four hooded councilmen as they arose and left the room in single file.

Laninus too dreamed of a united Ecmoria, but not one under the foot of a dictatorship, Laninus wanted freedom and he hoped that some nation out there would appeal to his and his people's hope. If not then they would fight to the death before they layed down before the Azkans.

TO: Nations of the World
FROM: The Council of Amorlia

Greetings to you all from Ecmoria, we contact you humbly this day in request of your services. Our land of Amorlia is in a grave situation, a tyrant has assumed control of our nation's capitol and declared himself supreme ruler of this land. His regime's ideals and plans contrast greatly with our own and we fear that we may face persecution under his rule. We no longer have the military capability to oust him ourselves and require your help. Although this tyrant is of Ecmoria he belongs to the tribe of Azkan, they are notorious for their love of war and land. Treating this man and his cohorts as the leaders of this nation could put our entire region in danger and produce uneccesary conflict. If you are a protector of freedom, if you are opposed to tyranny and if you are against the persecution of people based on their ethnicity, religion, gender or race then you will find it within your obligation to support us in our struggle.

Sincerely,
Laninus Marc and Council

"I am an incredibly successful man, Mr. Shnav." Robert said, smiling still. "I have accumulated more wealth than I could spend in a thousand lifetimes on myself, no matter how extravagant the lifestyle. I have decided that just sitting on my money does no-one any good, that I should use it to better the world, and perhaps do enough that my name will one day be in history books alongside those of men like yourself. Do not however think that my motives are entirely altruistic. We in the Commercial Federation stand to benefit greatly from a stable Ecmoria, as such would be a prime market for us to expand into, especially if it also happened to be a tax haven. As far as the authenticity of who I claim to be, you may take my photograph and fingerprints and compare them to public records to verify my identity. Sumguaian news sources and banks can easily verify the scope of my wealth and resources."

He stood up. "And there will be no need for you to step down yet, Mr. Shnav. We need you to remain emperor for a time until a republic can be established. The nation needs your leadership for now, and if we are successful enough in unifying this country, will likely choose you to remain their leader when the first elections occur. You will certainly have the funds to run a very well-done campaign when the time comes."

He picked up his cane, and held it out to Shnav with one hand. "On a side note, this cane is made of pure ivory, handcrafted for no small price. It will be a gift to you should you accept my offer. Together Mr. Shnav, we can bring this coutnry into greatness. Are you willing to be the man who will go down in history as the first ruler of an Ecmorian golden age?"

"You have a deal Mr. Stevens, you certainly talk money now let's see if you can walk it!"

Hunvilia, Amorlian Territory

Laninus poured a glass of moderately priced wine and then sat down in a living chair in his study, standing opposite him was Commander Rodrious Samor, he had shown particular bravery and cunning in the last days of the Azkan campaign in spite of his eventual defeat. "Care to have some?", asked Laninus as he held his wine glass up. "No thank you sir, I do not drink.", replied the commander, he stood at ease with his hands clasped behind his back. The commander was of a muscular build, stood at 6'1 and wore light green fatigues with a black beret. His face showed the wear of battle as he had a jagged scar on his right cheek that ran down the length of his face. His eyes were steel blue and his hair jet black. "Commander I've brought you hear today to discuss with you the recent events that have been taking place across the country. It appears the Azkans not only are in control of the capital but are also in negotiations with foreign powers concerning reconstruction and re-armament. As you can imagine this is nothing short of disastrous for the well being of our people."

"Without a doubt sir.", replied Commander Somar with a nod.

"I'm glad you can recognize this threat as well as I do which is why I've chosen you to lead the military branch of the resistance."

"The resistance, sir?", questioned the commander.

"Yes, the resistance. We by no means plan to cooperate with the Azkans and accept them as heads of government, the council and I have deemed it unacceptable. That being said, with our most recent defeat in Moralis it would prove difficult if not impossible to remove Shnav from power by conventional means. We have reached out to foreign powers for help and so far none have replied, if we fight this battle on our own then we must fight it in a certain way, do you understand?", said Laninus with a raised brow.

"Are you suggesting terror tactics, sir?"

"No Commander Somar, the only terrorists in Ecmoria are the Azkans and any government who seeks to help them, I refuse to accept that title. We are fighting for our freedom and sovereignty and what I'm suggesting is guerrila tactics. I want you to begin harrassing the Azkan borders as soon as possible, let them know that we have not given up. Do not commit any large manuevers, just hit them enough to let them know of our presence and that we do not intend to take this lying down. Foreign troops on Azkan soil are green lit as well, if they are not for us they are against us, we must let them know how difficult we can make life for them if they choose to station troops here. Commader Samor, you and your men know these valleys, forests and fields like no other, so make sure you use that knowledge to your advantage. Take however many men you need and only attack within your means, we'll work our damned hardest to get any kind of foreign commitment to relieve you if things get tough. Make my words so Commander Samor, is everything understood?"

"Yes sir, understood.", replied Commander Samor rather sternly, he had hoped this was the reason Laninus had called upon him.

"Make it so commander, good luck.", Laninus stood up from his chair walked over to Commander Samor and firmly shook his hand, "The resistance has begun."

After setting up a temporary camp outside of the port town of Slamont, Tanner and several of the other men took a excursion to the city of Hunvilia to see about a possible alliance with the Amorlians. As the car rode into the city, Tanner looked out the window and saw huddle masses of people that had suffer greatly from the civil war that has divided the country. Tanner spoke up with a somber tone in his voice.

Just pitiful what has occurred to these people but all I truly see is opportunity. These people need something to look towards... These are trying times for these people and the perfect chance for us.

The car continued on into the city as O'Mallay lit up his pipe. He pondered the idea of an alliance with this nation in attempt to further his ability to gain a new homeland. One of the officer picked his head and asked

What do we do now sir? We are in the city but do we have idea of what we need to do?

O'Mallay shook himself from this thoughts and chuckled to himself.

Easy laddy, what we need to do is go out and get acquainted with these people. I think the best idea is to find a nice local pub and have us a nice, cold pint. While ye be getting to know the locals, I will be out trying to gain us a foothold in this country. So I need you to calm down for the moment and just try to enjoy yourself and let me deal with the bigger picture. Go out and make some friends and tell me if you hear from any of the other parties.

The officers nodded their heads in silence and Tanner leaned back into his seat with a big sigh. The car parked next to a local pub in one of the main districts of Hunvilia. The officers and O'Mallay got out of the car and walked into the pub. Tanner soon walked back out with flask of scotch and he looked around before getting the attention of one of the locals

Excuse me laddy, do you know which way would be to Capital building.

The man looked at him with a strange look and started to question him

Why the hell do you care?

Tanner was taken a back by the statement but soon came back with a rebuttal

Listen you fuckin' ninny, I don't have time for you damn question of your own! I just want to know where the damn yah Capital office was located! A few more random jibberish and cuss words

The man was aghast at all the profanity Tanner had yelled at him and ran away in fear. Tanner was approached by a local police officer who just pulled out his baton just in case. The police officer slowly approached O'Mallay

Sorry about the outburst, I just wanted to know where your damn Capital is but all I be gettin' is load of questions back in my face. Lord almighty, try to be friendly with a stranger and he spits right back in ya damn face.

The police officer still slowly approached Tanner and started to speak with an assertive tone towards him.

Sir, I'm going to ask you to put your hands above your head and get against the wall.

Tanner began to look very flustered with what he was told and he began to yell back at the officer.

Christ on a stick! Try to make friends with a damn country and all I get is this lovely welcome wagon. Listen laddy, I don't want any fuckin' trouble with ya right now. I just want to know where the damn Capital building is located and that is it!

The police officer began to speak in a more aggressive tone and had his baton raised up in case of a confrontation.

I'm not going to ask you again, put your hands on your head and get against the wall now!

Tanner looked at the officer with frustated look and sighed extremely loud. He put his hands on his head and slowly lined himself against himself against the wall. Tanner looked around and could now see that a crowd had grown around the two. As the police officer handcuffed him and took him to his car, O'Mallay began to yell

I know what ye been going through! There is a chance for freedom and a new life away from those other factions to the East and South! I came here as a result of my persecution and I am willing to help with your nation. I am willing to help Amorlia!

Just as he finished the statement, he was shoved into the squadcar and whisked away to a police station in the capital district of Hunvilia.

The jail was rather small with only two holding areas one of which was unoccuppied and the other was now occuppied by the foreigner and two other deliquents one of which slept on a bench and the other who just looked at the newcomer menacingly. Across from the holding cell were a couple of desks and an outdated computer where Amorlia militiamen kept their fledgling database of criminals.

Two of the militiamen joked around with each other for awhile before directing their attention to the new prisoner, "Where are you from with that strange accent? You can't be Ecmorian, unless Azkans are being born with strange lisps these days!", joked the militiamen.

Tanner looked at the militiamen with a steady eye as listened to the joke. He laughed slightly and then leaned back against the wall and spoke.

Aye, I don't be from this country. I came here to escape the hell that awaited me back in Bidistan, my former homeland. I have a question of me own, who the hell are those Azkans that you speak about?

The militamen looked at each other and then shook their heads, "You definitely aren't from here if you don't know about those jolly bastards! It's ironic that you came here to escape a hell because one might be upon you soon, the Azkans are our neighbors to the east and there's been talk of an invasion. If you think this jail is shitty then you don't want to see what our Azkan "brothers" would've put you in as an alternative!", the militiaman chuckled and gave his friend a nudge.

Fuckin hell.. Out of the damn frying pan and into the oven I guess. First you escape from those bastards back in the home country who want to either kill you or enslave you and then get to country where the party just about to begin. Christ f'n almighty... I always hated to have confrontation, especially after all the damn casualties so far. By the way, what in heaven's name are the you two doing in this rathole of a prison?

Sorry if I forgot to introduce myself in the correct manner. I am Tanner O'Mallay and 'my casualties' were my comrades of Bidistan Nationalist Force that died fighting against the persecution of the old homeland. We still have many that are trying to survive and many that are located in this country now. We came 'ere looking for a new country to start a new life in. We escaped just recently from the country after a major crackdown on our resistance movement and they hunted us like wild beasts. It was fuckin hell just trying to get here and shattered the nerves of many of my men.

One of the miltiamen got off the desk he was sitting on and stepped closer to the prisoner, "Your men? Do you mean to say you have elements of this "resistance" in our country right now? How many and where?", the tone of the conversation had drastically changed, it was unsure if this man and his friends were friend or foe, the last thing Almoria needed was another front.

He brought his head back up and asked, "These men you speak of, you said they were a part of some kind of force, meaning they have military experience, correct?"

These men are commoners, they carry no military experience except for simplistic guerrilla and terror tactics. We had to make due with what we could. Only our officers have some military experience and that is spread very thin currently....

Tanner suddenly stops and then changes the subject immediately

10 minutes after the militiaman had made the call a tall, muscular man had made his way to the jail. Two men were on either side of him with AK-47s and he wore a black beret on top his head. He was dressed in fatigues as were his guards and the militiamen stationed at the jail.

"At ease, Is this the man?", asked Somar to the militiamen.

"Yes sir, that's him, he said he wanted to speak to someone higher up, he refuses to divuldge any further information."

"Hm.", said the commander as he made his way over to the cell, "I am Commander Somar of the Amorlian Army, if you don't speak to me I suppose you speak to no one. Tell me the situation about why you're here and what exactly you and your people are doing living in our territory without permission."

Shnav had stood up as soon as Robert had, all too wary of sudden movements, he now looked down at the extended cane and then back up at Robert. His facial expression briefly showcased hesitation before cracking into a smile and he firmly gripped the cane. "You have a deal Mr. Stevens, you certainly talk money now let's see if you can walk it!"

"Quite so, Mr. Shnav." Stevens walked over to the window, looking out. 'Forces of the Commercial federation should be arriving shortly. They should be enough to assist you in bringing stability to the country. If you are in need of more at any point I will be happy to supply them."

He turned and regarded the Emperor for a moment. "I assume that I don't need to remind you that with the resources at my disposal I am more than capable of utterly crushing you and your little army should you attempt to deceive or double-cross me. That unpleasant fact aside, we must address your image. Fear, Mr. Shnav, is a potent tool for a warlord, but not for a man who would unify a nation. To effectively bring this country out of it's current...difficulties, you must from this point on be utterly benevolent in both word and action. Your troops will abide by the ethics codes of the Commerical Federation security forces, and any who breach said codes will be subject to disciplinary action from my men, who will be spread among your units to ensure that all act appropriately. There will be no more public executions, no more killing of noncombatants, no looting, and no acts of extortion on the part of your men. From this day forth you and your men are a proper and moral military force acting only for the betterment of the citizenry. Any who fail to act in such a manner shall be removed. We must win the hearts of the Ecmorian people Mr. Shnav, something that no amount of weaponry or brutality can achieve."

The soldiers hooted and hollared as they thrust their weapons in the air. The one who had set the fire took a flask out of his chest pocket and took a hearty swig before passing it to his nearest comrade.

"I don't take kindly to threats, Mr. Stevens.", said Shnav in a low tone. "Fear might not be a tool of necessity in your world, but it is in mine. A thunderous roar was heard over the skies of the city, producing a rattle that shook the walls and interiors of nearby buildings. Two militiamen on the back of a truck with a mounted machine gun that was patroling the city were startled by the noise.

"What in the blue hell was that?", said one militiamen as he ducked his head and looked off into the night sky.

"Hell if I know but it was damned close, probably's got something to do with those men Shnav's been talking to. This is a time of change man, permanent change this time I've been hearing.", said the other militia men as he looked in the sky as well searching for the origin of the noise.

Shnav's men had only recently taken control of the Moralis's only airport and had little understanding of the equipment within the control room. When a request came in through the transmitter asking for permission to land they were a bit taken aback. The highest ranking man in the room grabbed the receiver and responded back, "Aye, you can land here but don't expect no help landing!", the reply was followed by hearty laughter in the background.

At the very least they could rob these newcomers if they weren't the business men they claimed to be....or maybe even if they were.

The co-pilot swallowed hard. Awkwardly, "Uh... thanks..."
The pilot, a bit more confidentially, answered, "Roger, we understand." He turned to the men in the back of the craft. "Get your crap ready. If these nuts start popping off shots, we're gonna get out of here in a hurry."

Within a few minutes, the pilots successfully navigated out of the clouds and onto the runway. They taxied to the nearest structure on the airfield, opened the door. The pilot began to pop his head out. He wondered if there would be a greeting party to meet them...

A group of militiamen drove up to the plane in a truck which had a mounted machine gun on its' bed. One of them in the back stood up waving his AK, "Aye, welcome to Ecmoria, politicians and businessmen I'm guessing?", he yelled.

The truck pulled up beside the plane and four men hopped out, all armed and in fatigues, awaiting for the passengers to unload.

The men piled out of the aircraft, four of them total. Their gruff manner and precise stride resembled a military exercise more than anything else.

The pilot and co-pilot wore not suits or flight-crew uniforms, but a ratty old Hawaiian shirt with blue palm tress and a generic button down khaki shirt, respectively.
Next to emerge were the men in the back seat, outfitted in Khakis, with dark gray vests.

All men were armed, but not heavily. The pilot and co-pilot clearly had 9mm pistols in their belts, and the other two men had G-36 rifles slung around their shoulders, but with only one magazine in their vests.

A tall man, apparently the leader, answered the militiamen. "Businessman? Politicians? Aren't they one in the same? You see Spence over here?" He motioned to the man behind him. "He kills politicians for a living. And businessmen. Foreign ones all, of course. No friend, we have no allegiance to business or money. We are here on our Prime Minister's behalf."
The leader had exaggerated a bit. Though experienced in the art of killing, they were not exactly international hit men. He just hoped to come across strong, for first impression's sake. He hoped it worked.

The leader approached the truck, and offered a handshake to the nearest militiamen. "I'm Agent Charles Davis. It's a pleasure to meet you."

"Aye, he shouldn't be!", yelled the militiaman from the driver's seat, before ducking his head back in the cab and pushing the pedal to the floor. The truck sped off like a bat out of hell and whizzed out of the airport perimeter which immediately gave way to plains and plains of grass. The grass continued for about 10 minutes until they approached the outskirts of Moralis, some sectors of it still smoking and it's crumbling infrastructure clearly visible even from a distance. Within minutes the truck was inside urban part of the city, bending curves and nearly running down civilians as they went deeper into Moralis.

There were plenty of strange sights to see on the way, dead soldiers still littered the streets as well as civilians, some effort was made to cover or move them however since some of the bodies were covered with blankets or white sheets. Almost all the shops and businesses they passed by were hollowed out, the windows broken and their insides ransacked. They passed several of Shnav's men who yelled out greetings to the driver and the militiamen while casting suspicious eyes upon the others. Children were seen playing amist all the carnage, as children will be children under any circumstances.

Eventually they made their way to what seemed to be the capital building, judging from its size and architectural style. They swerved and parked directly in front of the building, quickly unloading and shouting out greetings and playful jeers to the dozen or so guards who sat and stood on the steps all armed with AK's some smoking ciggarettes and others chewing tobacco. The men on the steps looked at the foriegners as if they were newcomers in a prison, eyes hungry with potential exploitation.

One of the men on the steps yelled out, "Aye! These boys break you off anything proper before you brought em' here?"

"You'll find out soon enough!", yelled the driver back.

The driver hopped up the steps and led the men into the building's dusty and disorganized interior. He waved his arm suggesting they follow him as they mad their way through the building eventually coming across a large hallway at the end of which were two very tall doors. The driver made his way down the hall only to be stopped by another militiamen outside, "Aye, Shnav's busy, what do you need?", he barked.

"These men here need to speak with him, more foreigners, they talk money just like the last.", the driver said.

"Well they'll have to speak with the Deputy of Foreign Affairs for right now, Shnav's not got the time."

"Alright.", the driver said turning around to his guests, "Will that do you just as well to speak with the Deputy?", he asked with a grin.

"Whatever you say.", said the driver with a smile as he walked past Davis and a little back further down the hall. He stopped at a door on the left and gave a knock, "What is it?", was the reply from inside, the voice sounded irritated, or tired or perhaps a combination of both. "There's some men here who want to speak with you Mr. Mutz, foreigners, they talk...", the driver was cut off as the door swung open and an awkward looking man emerged. He was rather pale and had slicked down brown hair. He wore gold rimmed glasses and an obviously cheap suit grey suit with an obnoxiously red tie. He straightened his tie and looked around, after spotting the visitors he introduced himself shaking all of their hands, "Hello, hello. I'm Mikal, Mikal Mutz Deputy of Foreign Affairs, come in, come in.", he said as he lead the men into his office.

He half walked, half jogged to his desk and sat behind it, extending his arms and inviting the men to sit in the three chairs in front of his desk. "That'll be all.", he said sternly to the driver and the other militiamen. They grunted and left, closing the door behind them.

"What have you gentlemen come to discuss?", he asked leaning forward and folding his hands together.

Davis made himself comfortable, then began, "We understand that by now you surely must have had dozens of greedy nations who have made contact with you, and you people are smart enough to know that these nations will become increasingly pressing. The arrogant and self-interested societies of the world have thrived on the feeding off of the resources of the competent but less-capable of the world. We have known it in our history, and your society is now feeling it as well. We, on behalf of the United Ed States, offer you not unfair resource-extraction or self-serving profit terms, or anything of that nature. In fact, we want nothing to do with your resources. We want nothing to do with your society, nothing to do with your buisinesses, or any of it. All we want is a small pocket of land.
The United Ed States is offering an incredibly generous offer, though admittedly not one born solely out of our sympathy for you and your people. We wish to purchase a small, otherwise useless, hunk of land, so long as it borders on the sea. On this piece of land, we will house all the fittings of a small military base. It will hold no more than a few hundred troops, much too small a force to be of any threat to your forces.
We will build a small refueling station for our aircraft and naval forces here as well. If you wish, we will gladly agree to terms that include some clause that limits the size and power of our naval/marine and air units in and around the base at one time.
We will also be glad to rent the land, if you so choose.
We will give your inspectors a tour of the facility as often as you wish, just to prove to you that we have no bad intentions.
All we want is a small base of operations in the area."

Davis tried to guess Mutz's first impression of the deal, found it difficult, then continued.

"In return to a generous payment for the land (or generous rent), we will recognize your regime's sovereignty immediately, declare you a friendly nation, and therefore entitled to all the gifts a friend may get. You will be supplied with satisfactory rifles, tanks, artillery, aircraft, helicopters, ships, and more. If you choose, we will allow encourage trade with your nation. Economic aid will also flow in. We admit that the initial delivery of weapons and economic aid will be only a trickle, but we guarantee that within 6 months (long enough time to cut through the legal red tape), the flow will increase tremendously.
Until then, of course we offer effective military support of our own to deter your enemies, and only if you do not mind."

Davis bit his lip and waited for Mutz's reaction. He knew the UES wanted land in the area very badly, and it'd make his life and the two nations paths in history so much easier if the guy just went for the deal. He knew the Ed States would;t want to comit to a fell war, but they were known for getting things done in non-war but still lethal means...

OOC: haha In all honesty I don't know what my next move would be if the deal were rejected.

Mutz smiled and nodded all the while listening to the specifics of the deal, after hearing it all he looked down briefly, pushed up his glasses and replied, "Well, I have to say....this proposal of yours sounds very enticing, very interesting Mr. Davis. Of course, as you know, as the Deputy of Foreign Affairs and given our style of government, I do not have the final say in these matters but I do hold a tremendous amount of weight in these sorts of dealings. I don't see any problem with what you've discussed so far but there might be a few complications on the area of the proposed base. While Emperor Shnav and our regime are, as you can see, quite in control of the capital we have not completely solidified our grip on the entire country. The only places where our country borders the sea happen to be located deep in contested territories, at least for the moment being. Therefore, even if I could give you the go ahead on such a project I could not completely insure you that the locals in the area would comply with my orders. You have to understand, we're freshly out of a very long and very bloody civil dispute and until we know for a fact that we can control all three tribal territories it would be unwise of us to authorize the building of bases in them.", Mutz paused briefly as if remembering something and then continued.

"But what I can do gentlemen, is put you in touch with the leaders of either territory which borders the sea and you can talk it out with them so long as they recognize Emperor Shnav as their emperor. I personally would advise that you go to Amorlia, considering we haven't been in political communcation with the Monalinians in several years. Would you like a number or address?", asked Mutz quirky manner, unaware that he could possibly be aiding in his own destruction. If these men did get in touch with Amorlian leadership and offered this very same deal, then all the weapons, money and men could potentially be used against Shnav's regime. Shnav and everyone for that matter else were completely unaware of a growing Amorlian resistance movement in the west. But to a naive Mutz the war was clearly over and Amorlia would most likely accept Azkan leadership after its decisive defeat in Moralis not so long ago.

"Get the Prime Minister on the phone," he told his men. "It looks like we're gonna pay a visit to the Amorlians."

Our men can escort you to the border but no further than that, we wouldn't want to uneccesarily reignite any burnt out flames. I'll have my men leave you with a map to Hunvilia, the Amorlian's largest city and where the old leadership resided. Once there you should have no problem finding who you need to speak to once you show your credentials. I would suggest that you all stay armed though, not that there's any serious threat but just as a precaution.", Mutz stood up and walked outside into the hallway, "Hey!", he yelled, "Hey you! Come here, get these men a vehicle, they'll be needing it for business! Have it out front and get it in a hurry!", there was an inaudible reply and the sound of someone marching off.

Mutz stepped back in the office and bid his visitors a farewell, wishing them good luck in Amorlia and telling them to make sure that whatever it was they worked out there that the Amorlian leadership complied with Shnav being their emperor.

Once outside the guests would find that their fetched vehicle was an old, busted up SUV with its entire left side riddled with bullet holes. There was blood splatter on one of the back doors but the interior was suprisingly clean. To the front and rear of the vehicle were trucks with mounted machine guns on the back and about four militiamen inside and on the bed. The bald driver who had brought them here stood outside of the SUV holding the keys with his outstretched right dangling them with a smile. "Aye, here's your vehicle, you boys ready for a ride? We'll be ditching you at the border of course.", said the driver.

Davis looked over the vehicle. One of his men couldn't help but mutter, "Holy crap, we are going to ride in this?"

Davis' men radioed their man guarding the plane to hang out for a while and notify the UES of anything new, then Davis' men piled in the truck.

Davis had, until now, managed to keep his nerves under control. He was, after all, a seasoned veteran of wartime politics. He had negotiated with renegade tribes, murderous rebels, and now, these people. But as he entered the truck, he suddenly had a moment of doubt...

"Full steam ahead, guys!"

"Aye, a beaut ain't she!", yelled the driver with a sarcastic smile as he rubbed the dirty hood, "Alright you heard em', let's move!" he shouted as he hopped in the truck up front and sped off. Ecmorians, in particular the Azkans, had to be steadfastly gaining a reputation for reckless driving amongst their international peers as the driver veered crazily down the city's streets, braking only when he felt his convoy couldn't keep up the pace. As they left the city they saw much of the same sights as they did coming in, corpses, hollowed out buildings, children playing, burning cars, everything was checked down the list of what to expect in a recently wartorn, fledgling country. The city streets and buildings soon gave way to less and less signs of civilization, finally flattening out into rolling plains of grass.

They drove for a little over two hours and towards the end of the drive the plains began to turn to dense forests and the paved road, which had turned to dirt road not much longer after they left the city, was now best described as a wide trail. The truck up front pulled over, signaling for everyone else to do the same.

The driver hopped out of the truck up front and walked over to Davis' vehicle, "Well this is as far as we take you, boys. Little bit ways up is Amorlian territory and you'll be on your own there.", he pulled a folded map out of his chest pocket and handed it to Davis. "That map has where you are now marked and will tell you where you need to go to reach Hunvilia. These forests continue for quite a while and there are a few villages in between....don't stop to sight see, just keep going. When the forests turn to plains again you'll know your close and eventually this trail will take you right into the heart of the city. If you find yourself lost when looking for the proper authorities find yourself a fellow who's dressed like me and my men here but not nearly as handsome, tell them who you are and they'll take you where you need to go."

The driver looked around at the car's passengers, gave a wink and wished them luck. He hopped back in his truck up front and manuevered till he was facing the opposite way. Before he sped off he pulled alongside Davis' vehicle and said, "Tell those fuckers Shnav sends his regards will ya!", he then laughed as well as his men and double tapped his horn and sped off, the other truck of militiamen in hot pursuit.

OOC: Just for RP consideration, Hunvilia is a city of about 400,000 and is not nearly as in bad a shape as Moralis since the majority of the fighting took place in Azka. Also the people are not as "crooked" and the city is still underdeveloped by most standards.

Davis pulled out the map the militiamen had given him, and pushed forward.

The men carried on slowly and cautiously, taking the advice, passing by villages and houses, preferring not even to make eye contact with the locals.

Finally, after what seemed like an incredibly long, nerve-racking trip, the first signs of a city began to appear. "Slowly," Davis ordered, "keep going until we find someone who looks to be of authority..."

Moralis, Azkan Territory

A thunderous roar was heard over the skies of the city, producing a rattle that shook the walls and interiors of nearby buildings. Two militiamen on the back of a truck with a mounted machine gun that was patroling the city were startled by the noise.

"What in the blue hell was that?", said one militiamen as he ducked his head and looked off into the night sky.

"Hell if I know but it was damned close, probably's got something to do with those men Shnav's been talking to. This is a time of change man, permanent change this time I've been hearing.", said the other militia men as he looked in the sky as well searching for the origin of the noise.

Tanner stands still for a moment trying to recall all the locations and the size of the groups sent out.

Hmm, This is a tough one. We have sent medium size groups to infiltrate the major cities of Ecmoria. We wanted a good look at what we were dealing with before put our heads above the ground from the hole. Don't want to get the head chopped off because we were too hasty you know. If you want a good idea of our size, our numbers are around 700-800 due to all we could take with us from Bidistan. We are fairly sure more are on the way and as you may or may not already, we have our primary base at Slamont. As you can understand, we want our brothers and sisters from Bidistan to know that we are here and waiting for them, we hope you will grant them access to your country.

"Hm.", replied General Somar, "Let him out, he's coming with me."

Tanner was led out of the cell and into a black SUV outside of the jail, he was ordered inside and General Somar and his two guards piled in after him. They began an uncomfortably quiet drive to the outskirts of the city, Somar sat in the back with Tanner, not looking at him once. After half an hour they arrived at a fenced off cabin and they pulled up to the gate. The two guards at the gate immediately granted them entry after recognzing the vehicle and who was in it. They pulled up beside the cabin and hopped out, walking up to the porch where yet two more guards were standing. They saluted General Somar and one opened the door for him allowing him inside.

The cabin's interior was rather modest, there was a twin sized bed, a simple kitchen and a quaint living area with a small television. In between the kitchen and living area was a red oak desk, where Laninus Marc sat, scanning over papers and documents. He wore reading glasses and was dressed casually in khakis and a light blue polo. He seemed to be unaware of his guests and General Somar spoke up letting their presence be known.

"Sir.", said General Somar, and Laninus looked up with a moderately surprised expression. He cast his eyes first on General Somar and then on Tanner, he looked the man up and down and then pointing his pen at him asked, "Is this the one?"

"Yes sir, this is the man who claims to have men within our territory who are willing to fight for the cause in exchange for citizenship.", replied General Somar.

"Ah.", said Laninus and he stood up from his desk and made his way over to Tanner, "So I've been told that you have a fair amount of experience in what one would call "Freedom Fighting", is that information correct?"

Bridge, Command and Control Vessel Retribution

The sun set peacefully on the horizon as Admiral Yustev Schneider peered out across the assortment of vessels under his command, taking another sip from his glass of fine Urgu tea, a naturally sweet tea which was renowned for its metabolic boosting properties.

Turning to make his way through the maze of corridors which crisscrossed the interior of the ship Schneider made his way to his quarters. Modest as they were for an officer of the Admiral rank.
Nevertheless Schneider was content, if anything his modesty had gained him a high level of rapport and respect with his men and this was something he was proud of.

Schneider himself, the newly appointed Admiral over the 32nd Expeditionary and Colonial fleet was relieved to have finally made some progress in his career after spending the first twelve years of his navy career as an understudy and staff officer to High Admiral Von Ostel, one of the most decorated officers in the Imperial Navy.

As his first assignment in his own command position Schneider had been tasked to project imperial force and to pressure the emerging government of Ecmoria into allowing the establishment of a small military base to be used by Imperial forces as a resupply and as a forward position.

Or should the Ecmorian government refuse Schneider had orders to carry out an operation codenamed Devil's Advocate which only Schneider and his staff were aware of the exact details which remained sealed in the envelope with the official Admiralty orders.

For now however Schneider and the 32nd sailed on unabated and unmolested. As was standing operating procedures Schenider had ordered constant combat air patrols around the fleet from Lu-45 fighters in six hour intervals. As well as submarine screens by SH-105B anti submarine helicopters in four hour intervals.

Below decks in the numerous troop transports some thirty two thousand Imperial marines waited anxiously for a chance at combat, combined with the array of armor and other supporting equipment the thirty second would prove to be a formidable force in its own right.

The map showed the tribal divisions of the country and there were several brightly colored tacks along the border of Azka and Amorlia. Laninus wore a plain black suit with a blue tie and a golden tie clip, he turned his attention to Davis.

"Well, you come from Moralis, but you certainly aren't Azkan.", Laninus said, "I'm Laninus Marc, acting leader of this territory, what have you come to discuss today?", Laninus turned back to the map and the guard left, closing the door behind him.

A frantic man came before the ruling council during their weekly meeting, disrupting precedings and causing a minor uproar. He bowed his head before them and asked for forgiveness but insisted the news was urgent, "My lords, forgive me for interrupting, but we've just recieved a message from a nation called Unkerlantum, they ask that we allow them to have a base within our territory or face grave consequences! They've also stated that if we allow them to build a base here they will supply us with weapons, they've also demanded that we become a protectorate of their nation!"

The 12 councilmembers all looked around at each other, faces showing surprise and concern as they sat at a long table, 6 council members on each side. "Why have they chosen to bother us, why don't they deal with the Azkans?", one councilman asked, other members cosigning the question.

"My lord", said the man with his head still bowed, "I am not sure why it us they have chosen to bother, but this message was recieved only minutes ago."

"Leave us with the message and we shall have council over it, this could be of use to us.", said a councilwoman.

"Yes, my lady.", the man handed left the a copy of the message on the end of long table and was escorted out. The council members viewed the message, debating over it for a little over an hour before deciding upon a response.

Skies over Ecmoria,over of Apton

As little was known of the nation of Ecmoria other than it was a war torn, resource rich territory with no organized army and by all accounts ripe for the taking.

For the time being the war ministry had decided that the Azkan tribe to be of the greatest threat, especially following the Emperor Shnav's victories in solidifying his territory. It was deemed vital that the Azkan tribe be forced into submission first.

As this was the case the numerous armada which flew unmolested through Ecmorian airspace would now bring to attention the Reich's presence, the town of Apton would be the first to feel the pressure despite the extremely high civilian casualties to be expected. The ministry hoped the message would be clear and the Azkan would not draw out the conflict into a needless bogged down battle.

The Ministry had designed a two pronged strike aimed at knocking out the Azkan and Amorlian factions swiftly. The Amorlians who were still regrouping following their recent defeats were not expected to be able to withstand landings by the 32nd, while the Azkan territory would be assaulted by massive air campaigns and eventually a 32nd ground assault with reinforcements from the 105th Airborne corps and 45th Expeditionary forces.

As the twenty four Albatross' bombers took their patterns for bombing runs final coordinates were locked in and preparations made the first twelve bombers exposed themselves for the first time to radar as their bomb bay doors opened and steel began to rain from the sky onto the likely unsuspecting populous below.

The first wave would be shortly followed by the second and in a simlar fassion they too would rain death from the heavens mercilessly in the form of combined effects munitions, high explosives, and even incendary munitions.

At the same time three GL-133 heavy bombers delivered more precise cruise missile strikes at known military targets, communications centers, power plants, and airfields.

Coupled with the bombing runs several teams of Guard De Korps commandos were to be HALO dropped into Ecmoria to gather ground intelligence, and began sabotage operations against enemy power plants, and major transit systems.

500km off the Coast of Ecmoria

The 32nd had finally reached their destination, having no naval enemy to fear and no organized force to resist them at beach landings the first wave of five thousand marines was rushed into their landing craft, coupled with the numerous pieces of armor some 120 Nakil tanks in total.

The landing zone codenamed Star, was a few miles west of the town of Ruckton.

Not wanting to risk the lives of his troops, and perhaps more importantly his career Schneider ordered a massive beach bombardment as dozens upon dozens of cruise missiles, and massive shells from the numerous uprgaded battleships pelted whatever resistance if any awaited the landing marines on the beaches.

IC:

Apton, Azkan Territory

The ground of Apton violently shook and rumbled as bombs were dropped on the city's streets, homes and businesses. Apton was of no particular military importance and only had a small band of militiamen stationed there. The town of 350,000 was completely caught of guard and had no means of defending itself against such a robust aerial attack. The city was partially leveled, the casualties ranged in the thousands and were overwhelmingly civilian. The few militiamen in the city attempted to retain order but were widely unsuccessful amongst the widespread panic and fear. Convinced that this was the doing of neighboring Amorlia, a mass civilian exoddus began within hours of the attack, fearing reprisal from Amorlian troops.

A convoy of civilian vehicles, coupled with a few dozen technicals and comprising of more than 115,000 Azkans began their long journey to Moralis, in hopes that they could be protected there against this onslaught. They left the city of Apton burning behind them, thousands of unburied corpses would remain there, burning in the streets with the rest of their surroundings. Ecmorians were used to warfare, but nothing of that magnitude, there was no one who hadn't lost someone in that intense bombing whether it be a family member or possession.

Beaches Near Ruckton

A small fishing village was annihilated in the missile bombardment, the small collection of modestly made homes burned and crackled and small wooden boats belonging to the fishermen that lived there were blown into splinters. Consisting of 800 people one minute, the population was reduced to 250 the next as people scrambled for cover not knowing from where or when the next attack would come.

Amorlian militia stationed in Ruckton were made aware of the attacks on the village shortly after they happened and were ordered to patrol the outskirts of the area. A group of 500 militiamen were sent into the forest between Ruckton and the beaches to scout for enemy activity. It was uncertain who was attacking and why, but all of Amorlia was placed on high alert and militiamen were patrolling the streets. Civilians were advised to stay indoors and the territory was effectively on lockdown.

"If you promise the UES a generous hunk of land in the region for a base, I will immediately message the UES that I have determined the Azkans to be ignorant warlords, not capable of maintaining such a deal. If you wish, I will instead recommend they ally themselves with your forces, seeing as your are the 'clear moral warriors.' The UES has interests in the area, and I guarantee you they will have no problem entering the theatre on your behalf if they were to be guaranteed a base."

Davis continued, "It is a wise choice to accept our friendship. We will help you gain complete region, then we will leave this area to your rule. Also, you will gain an industrialized friend with whom to trade and do business with. All the UES will need in return is a small base, the more generous the better. And we are, of course, open to another other suggestions..."

He took a few paces towards Davis and continued, "I'm willing to allow a base to built within our territory, under the condition that you agree to train and arm Amorlia's militia. I'd prefer the base be built here, in Hunvilia, on the outskirts of the city. Amorlia needs to build it's defenses in the wake of a growing threat in Azka, as it stands we have no navy or airforce and I'd like for you to assist in the formation of both. These are my conditions, do you agree to them?"

Davis had his men set up their satellite phone, and relayed Laninus' offer. No surprise to Davis, the UES officials back in the Ed States immediately agreed.

Davis took Laninus' hand, and shook it with a friendly enthusiasm. "Well, sir, it looks like you just got yourself an ally."

Meanwhile, Davis phoned his man to get out of the city of Moralis ASAP. The pilot quitley made his way back to his aircraft, which he had been virtually living out of until this point. He prepared the craft, and, unannounced, suddenly rushed down the runway, gaining the desired airspeed. He was confident his sudden move would throw his adversaries off guard and they would not realize gather the scope of the situation until he was safely in the air...

With little to no resistance met by the first wave the additional assault waves were rushed forward, along with their armor and other heavy equipment. . Within the hour more than 20,000 marines with more than fifty percent of their armored support would be ashore.

While the already landed forces began setting up defensive positions in case of a counterattack

To further deter any attempt to remove the beachhead cruise missile strikes continued against known military targets, particularly communication centers, and circling just off the coast were some sixty five strike craft ready to harass advancing columns with an assortment of munitions.

Meanwhile while the advancing forces continued to set up and prepare for the next offensive the leadership of the 32nd met in a secure conference room briefing the War ministry of the coming offensive, codenamed operation steamroller.

Red group consisting of 13,000 marines with armor support would strike south of Ruckton, with 6,000 attacking the city directly and the remaining 7,000 holding the southern flank from any possible reinforcement.

Blue group consisting of 7,000 marines would assault Ruckton directly behind an armor spearhead while Green Group of 5,000 marines would take the north flank with 2,000 assaulting ruckton from the north. The overall plan would cut the Amorlian territory into three pieces and isolate Ruckton from any assistance.

With the 143rd Division en route to reinforce the 32nd the number of imperial forces would surge to near 53,000 with more than 400 tanks and other equipment.

Meanwhile on the Azkan front long range strike craft and cruise missile strikes hit targets close to the Amorlian border.

10 Miles Outside of Ruckton

A group of 500 militiamen made their way through the thick, heavily wooded forest that stood between Ruckton and the small fishing village that had just been the target of a massive missile attack. The majority of the men were armed with AK-47s, while platoon leaders were armed with M14s and one in ten men were armed with RPG-7s. As they made their way to the all but destroyed beach village they came into contact with an unknown infantry presence. These unknown soldiers were assumed to be linked to the attack on the beach village.

The Amorlian militiamen halted and allowed the foreign troops to approach within their ranks, hiding within the heavy brush before opening fire following the orders from their platoon leaders. The RPG-7s aimed exclusively for the armor among the foreign invaders, taking care to aim at the tracks and other vulnerable spots. The militiamen armed with AK-47s and M14s darted in and out of cover, getting the best shots they could at the enemy before finding areas to take cover. Militiamen who were close enough for hand to hand combat pulled hunting knifes from their side holsters and thrust them inside the bodies of their yet unknown foes, as well as using the heads of their rifles to stun them to the ground. The Amorlians used their knowledge of the land to their advantage, hiding in the nooks and crannies of the forest as they hurled grenades and rained fire down upon their enemies.

Hunvilia, Amorlia

As the deal was being concluded with Davis and the UES, Laninus stressed that military aid come in haste, "Friend, perhaps your troops should arrive as soon as possible, it seems that we face a threat from our ocean borders, I have received word that we are being subjected to some sort of invasion by a tyrannical nation by the name of Unkerlantum. Their soldiers are headed to Ruckton as we speak, I'm not sure how long we can hold them off."

The perimiter defends were caught off guard by the ferocity of the assault, and already several outlying positions had been overrun and several light tanks and IFV's disabled or destroyed.

The remaining lines response was swift as 203mm naval artillery rounds began to rain down over the beachhead bombarding positions infront of the defensive lines.

The strike craft which had been on alert got into the action as well spraying infront of the line with 20mm cannon fire while other fighters dropped combined effects munitions dangerously close to the marines below.

Lastly some two dozen attack helicopters fired off their own 20mm cannons with straffes of hellfire missiles, the enemy's attempt at concealment was for not as the helicopter crews utilized thermal imaging making the attackers more visible and directing return fire accordingly.

At sea cruise missiles ripped through the air as they rocketed off towards the city of Hunvilia. Long range strike craft were launched as well as they prepared to knock out roads leading towards Ruckton.

It was Schneider's hope that this would bring the Amorlians to a negotiation table, he anxiously awaited a reply from the Azkan as if they could be persuaded into assiting him, Schneider could force the Amorlians to fight a two front conflict.

Outside of Ruckton

Amorlian militiamen held their ground against the onslaught as their positions were heavily pounded by a steadily advancing enemy. Bodies were thrown left and right by continuous explosions and landed amongst the forest in abnormal positions, agony upon their faces. The Amorlian front line had been nearly decimated, but they continued their fight, some 300 left of them refusing to give up an inch. The commander of the original 500 men warned his comrades in Ruckton of the carnage via radio, advising them to hide civilians and hole up in the city because this offensive was likely not going to be stopped. Despite being on the verge of defeat the Amorlian's showed no signs of letting up the pressure, they continued to fire with anger and precision at their enemies, screaming curses like wild men as bullets pelted into their foes.

Amorlian forces in Ruckton implemented the commander's advice immediately, rounding up civilians and encouraging them to board up in their homes and stay out of the streets. From reports in Azka, it appeared the enemy showed no mercy upon civilians and would most certainly kill them as though they were enemy combatants. The 8,000 militiamen available to fight began to setup booby traps and sniper positions, it seemed an assault on the city was imminent with its' only buffer in the forest on the verge of destruction.

Hunvilia, Amorlia

Power went out in the city and buildings crumbled as the territory's leaders were hurriedly rushed away to underground bunkers. Thousands had been killed in minutes, similar to what had happened in Azka, almost all again civilians in the rambunctious attack. Panic broke out as people ran for cover, there seemed to be no building that was safe from attack and death surrounded the occupants of Hunvilia. Massive fires broke out as the city was pummeled, burnt corpses lay in the street, withered in pathetic positions.

General Somar was furious and ordered that Ruckton not be taken at all cost, every Amorlian, be them man, woman or child must aid in the resistance of this most foul invader. The order was given and boys as young as 11 were rounded up to fight in both Ruckton and Hunvilia. They were given fatigues that hung sloppily off their small frames and rifles were thrust into their young hands as they were told by their older counterparts that it was their duty to defend their land.

Shnav turned to look out the window along with Robert, a group of soldiers had amassed around the pile of bodies. The one with the cigarette took a long drag before flicking it on top of the pile of corpses igniting a massive flame that encompassed the entire pile. The soldiers hooted and hollered as they thrust their weapons in the air.

My men might not take so kindly to your proposed reforms, but I'll keep them in line. I'll go along with what you're trying to do for now, but if it gets out of hand then the deal is off. In Ecmoria peace only comes through an iron fist. If these new tactics of yours fail then you'll heed my words."

"I don't make threats, Mr. Shnav." Robert said, looking at the spectacle before him with masked disgust. "Actions such as the one being undertaken outside this window are to cease immediately." He turned, and walked to the door. "Also, I have heard that the nation of Unkerlantum has sent an invasion force to Amorlia with the demands that your nation submit to their rule. For now, the fleet and ground troops that I have sent for is large enough to counter their presence and oppose their invading troops should the need arise. Let us hope they will see their error and realize that Ecmoria will not need their protection. Your first check should be arriving soon, good day to you sir." He closed the door behind him as he left, and threw a stack of bills to the guard who he had bartered with earlier. "Ten thousand Sumguaian dollars, don't spend it all in one place." he said, chuckling, and walked out of the palace.

250 miles off the coast of Ecmoria:

Admiral Jacob Abernathy of the Commercial Federation Security Forces looked at the fleet around him, smiling as he watched the light of the sun bouncing off of their hulls. A fleet of warships such as these had cost a huge amount of money, though the fact that members of the Federation owned the corporations which manufactured such ships for the HIDF did not hurt. He chuckled to himself as he looked at the crews. The Admiral was feeling rather cheerful and optimistic about the mission to restore order in Ecmoria and assist in creating a republic in the war-torn nation, and his only real concern was the invasion force sent by the nation of Unkerlantum. Failing to dissuade their government to call off the invasion, those men could serve as either an opportunity to unite the Ecmorian people behind the Commercial Federation's banner or, if the government of Unkerlantum was particularly stubborn, a destabilizing factor which could result in the mission's failure. The Admiral fervently hoped that the membership in the Confederation of Sovereign States that the Reich and Holy Empire shared, coupled with the immensely negative press that would result from an attack on Commercial Federation forces in Ecmoria, would be enough to inspire the government of the Reich to rethink it's actions and it's hostile stance.

By authority of the Kaiser I propose a 48 hour cease fire to open negotations. Should you refuse Hunvilia will be the targeted for total destruction. A security detachment awaits you at our beachhead headquarters where you will be flown to the Retribution to offically open negotations.

All along the advancing front the tank columns and infantry squads stopped, unexpectedly and frustrating to others as the enemy was throwing boys at them a clear sign that victory was imment. The artillery barrages on the cities of Ruckton and Hunvilia stopped instead diverting to a defensive posture and laying down rounds only directly infront of imperial positions to deter any counter offensive.

The strike craft flew over Hunvilia but dropped no bombs, instead they targeted Azkan positions on the border and gathered reconnissance photos.

They threaten to raze a city to the ground if we dare not meet with them! Send General Somar to converse with these scoundrels, I have no intention of showing my face to these barbarians!", he barked.

Within the hour General Somar of the Amorlian militia was on his way to the designated beachhead to negotiate with the Unkerlantum higher ups. He arrived at the beach in an old Humvee, escorted by a dozen militiamen who drove ahead and behind the Humvee in technicals. General Somar as well as the men who accompanied him were armed with AK-47s and awaited to be flown to the Retribution by their Unkerlantum counterparts.

The remaining militiamen in the forest outside of Ruckton continued to harass enemy lines until they received the order to ceasefire from their commander, apparently negotiations were in progress. They gathered their dead and wounded and retreated back to the city limits of Ruckton, regrouping and helping the militiamen already stationed there to put up fortifications in case of a push into the city by Unkerlantum.

Subj: Unwarranted Attack on Ecmoria

Once again the Unkerlantian Kaiser has managed to throw diplomacy into the wind as his imperialist hordes rip away the freedoms, and indeed the lives of the Ecmorian people. While such actions would normally be considered gross breaches of basic human rights, the taking advantage of a nation in a crisis considered something best left to the basest animals, Unkerlantum has again proved that it is able to carry these actions out without a second thought.

The Federal Republic of Leistung formally decries the actions of the Unkerlantian Kaiser and reminds the Ecmorian government that we will be, now and forever, proponents of national sovereignty. We can and will provide any measure of humanitarian aid that is required of us without monetary reparations.

As the convoy of Amorlian vehicles approached the permiter guards trained their assault rifiles and heavy machineguns upon the lead and rear vehicles.

Upon reaching the first of several traffic control points several marines approached the vehicles from both sides, one marine on each side swept a mirror under the vehicles checking for bombs while others kept their rifles trained on the occupants.

After each vehicle passed the inspection they were allowed through and guided to an awaiting helipad where a SH-96F Seacat and two escorting AH-72 attack helicopters.

As the delegation was led further inside the beachead they would see the numerous crates full of artillery shells and the massive 203mm field guns which were being set up to pound Ruckton incase talks fell apart. Along with piles of other munitons some marked in containers bearing a biohazard symbol

A slender man dressed in a formal uniform stood before the Amorlian delegation, the numerous medals that adorned the left breast pocket of his white freshly pressed jacket glistened sharply in the afternoon sun.

"Good day to you General Somar. I am Lieutenant Gerald, I will be escorting you to the Retribution. There is one minor problem.
Only four of you may go, and that's including the yourself General the rest will have to wait here."

Gerald's tone was condsending, to him the commanders of rabble milita were little better than leaders of a street gang and were not worthy of the title general as it implied being sound, educated military commander.

Fourteen C-130 Hercules aircraft (with their fighter escorts) quickly made their way to the a predetermined drop-zone, an area just South of Hunvilla (still within sight of the city). They, along with the many cargo planes that followed, para-dropped their cargo of barricades, paratroopers, and a few combat engineers, whom were tasked with clearing the drop-zone of foliage so that a make-shift airfield may be established.
The 1,000 paratroopers (more to come soon) were of the 1st Regiment of the 12th Airborne Division. Their commanding officer, Colonel Grant Garfield, was to be in charge of all operations on the ground.
After successfully parachuting to the ground, the Colonel organized his men; the paratroopers began to set up make-shift barricades, organize a perimeter, ready their weapons, etc.
The Colonel then made his way to one of the Land Rovers that was dropped in its protective covering. He and his personal bodyguards unwrapped the vehicle, started it up, and sped towards town.
The Colonel wished to begin talks with the Amorlians immediately as how best to organize their collective national militaries effectively.

General Somar nodded and instructed ten of his men to fall back, they stepped back warily to their vehicles gripping their AK's tightly, not at all trusting the Unkerlantum soldiers around them who not but a few hours ago had so viciously ravaged their lands. General Somar couldn't help but catch the Lieutenant's tone, but he chose to disregard it, he had expected this from a people who were fond of bombing civilians. General Somar and his three militiamen tossed their weapons to the men who had fallen back, "May the talks proceed now?", asked General Somar blankly.

Hunvilia, Amorlia

Several militiamen ran out into the road, guns aimed at the unknown vehicle that had just broken the city perimeter. The men had been told to honor the ceasefire, just hours ago the vehicle would've been sprayed with bullets. "Halt!", they screamed as they closed in on the vehicle from both sides of the road, guns drawn and faces tense.

"Right this way."

Gerald nodded his head and several marines escorted General Somar and his guards onto the choppers, a few moments later they were flying low over the waves bound for the Retribution arrayed before them was the entire 32nd fleet, a vast assortment of combined carrier battle groups.

After a brief circling of the fleet the helicopter carrying general Somar and Lieutenant Gerald landed aboard the Retribution the ship looked somewhat out of place as it resembled somewhat that of a cruise ship instead of a vessel meant for warfare.

Any doubts of the Retribution's capabilities were quickly put out as Gerald led Somar and his escorts through the catacomb like decks of the ship, tons of computer equipment, wiring, and other electronics filled nearly every room with crews busily looking over new satellite images and other pieces of information.

Finally reaching the conference room, which was guarded by several more marines Gerald led Somar into the conference room, it was a lavish room decorated with portraits, coat of arms, red carpet, and a large oaken table, dyed black, with several cushioned chairs along its side.

Seated at the head of the table was a stocky man, wearing a similar white uniform his breast pockets too adorned with numerous medals, a blue stripe ran up his pants leg, and his shoulders were adorned with a elaborate insignia of a wreath surrounding a cluster of cross'.

"General Somar, I would have expected someone else but this shall suffice. Welcome to the Retribution. A fine ship isn't she?"

Before Somar had time to answer Schneider cut him off

"Of course she is, but we are not here to discuss the marvels of the Reich's engineering, so down to business shall we?

And I don't believe guards to be necessary at negotiations between men of such stature as you and I don't you agree General?"

Schneider waved his hand motioning for Somar to take a seat and dismissing his guards, expecting Somar to follow suit.

"How foolish of me, I forgot to introduce myself Admiral Cavlor Schneider, Commander thirty second expeditionary fleet."

Schneider's tone was a bit more friendly than Gerald's but it was clear he did not hold Somar in the same regard he would as other military commanders.

General Somar signaled for his militia guards to wait outside, they complied and stepped uneasily out of the room to join their Unkerlantum counterparts. General Somar seated himself at the far end of the table and took off his black beret, placing it neatly in his lap. He looked up at the Admiral with steel blue eyes, "I'm sure you might have expected a politician, but given the war like manner of your people my superior thought it best to choose me to represent Amorlia in these talks. So let us begin, we'd like hostilities to end permanently and we want your soldiers out of Amorlia as soon as possible. Can this be arranged?"

"Peace for your people can be reached, if you are willing to make compromises."

Schneider slid a folder across the table, inside were documents of a drafted treaty titled the Treaty of Sesselburg

"As you can see the terms are simple, and straightforward. I don't believe they are too much to ask."

Treaty of Sesselburg

This binding document does effective immedately on this the day _____ end hostilities between the Reich and the Amorlian territory of Ecmoria

A. The Reich is granted permission to establish one naval base and one air field within Amorlian territory. The bases shall remain operational for fifty years and will be reviewed upon that time as to wether or not the afore mentioned stations will remain operational

B. The Reich is granted a colonial township within Amorlian territory.
I Township is to be defined as a territory 162km (100 miles) north, south, east, and west of the Townhall or center. The Township to be named Sesselburg will be governed by the Reich and security will be provided by the Reich.

Amorlian citizens will be granted access to the township by way of special visas, and Amorlian citizens will be permitted to live within the 162km (100 mile) confines so long as they abide by the Reich's laws.

Township government shall consist of an elected assembly, and elected governor, an Imperial envoy shall oversee all elections. Amorlian citizens who live in the Township confines will be granted the right to vote in the elections and run for office.

Should articles A and B be met the Reich is prepared to offer the following in exchange

A. Rebuilding of Ruckton to include limited reperations to next of kin for those killed by Reich military actions. Reperations limited to 850,000 marks.

B. Economic aid to Amorlian territory, Unkerlantian factories developed will hire Amorlian workers, Unkerlantain investments into Amorlian companies. Economic aid donations from the Imperial government running at 1.3 billion marks per year.

C. The reich will offer to equip, and train Amorlian military units, as well as enter a mutual defense pact with the Amorlian territory in which the Reich will defend Amorlian territory from both foreign and domestic attackers.

"You have your terms general, so what say you?"

Schneider took a drink from a glass of water and leaned back a bit in his chair awaiting Somar's reply, unphased by Somar's his steely gaze Schneider smirked slightly.

General Somar opened the folder and pulled out the documents reading over them carefully. After reviewing them thoroughly he lightly tossed the treaty back onto the table. "Admiral, with all due respect these terms are unacceptable. What we'll be needing is an unconditional withdrawal of your forces from Amorlian territory. My people have already secured deals with the UES concerning military backing and if necessary we will forcibly remove you from our lands. Other nations have pledged their support to our side of this conflict as well, so it would be wise to take heed before you think to attack once more."

General Somar took a breath and put his beret back on before continuing, "I do not desire any further bloodshed, as for you I cannot be certain. What I do know is that if you stay here, if you refuse to leave, there will be no peace, only more death, more destruction and more problems. That's not a prediction but an absolute promise, Admiral. We will accept any reparations you are willing to give for the killing of our civilians and the damages you have caused our cities, but beyond that we want nothing more from you.", General Somar sat coolly in his chair, he knew if these terms were not met that the state of war between Amorlia and Unkerlantum would almost certainly resume.

Schneider sighed heavily.

"General I would strongly urge you to reconsider, the Reich's requests are most generous, think of your people, only death awaits them. Already you send young boys to fight us. Surely you see the error of your ways.
And you would be foolish to think the Reich stands alone in her endevours, we too have friends."

This will be the last offer General.

Schneider rose for a moment, going to a side door and whispering something to the sentry posted outside the council chambers before returning to his seat and taking another drink of water.

Outside the sentry hurriedly made his way towards the bridge to deliver the urgent message to Lieutenant Gerald.

Our only demand is that you leave immediately, if you cannot do that, or if you refuse to do that then there's no more to be said and these negotiations can end. The blood will be on your hands Admiral, we're only looking out for the best interests of our country."

General Somar arose and awaited the Admiral to give his last word, if the request for Unkerlantum to leave was still denied then there was nothing more General Somar could do and his leadership would be needed back in Amorlia.

Beachead Star

As word that negotations had failed reached commander Tavian he began preperations for another advance. The earth shook as the more than two dozen howitzers and other artillery pieces fired off a salvo aimed directly at Ruckton.

Their airburst and high explosive rounds would pound the Amorlian defenders for four hours before stopping only to be followed by twelve MLRS artillery platforms firing off combined effects munitions which would pelt the impact sight with smaller bomblets, some even capable of taking out armor.

Further still three dozen Albatross stealth bombers which had participated in the bombings of Apton now roared towards Ruckton their fighter escort of thirty LU-45's prepared to respond to any fighter assault that may arise as the bombers prepared to drop their 60,000lbs worth of bombs across the city.

Meanwhile back at the Retribution Genal Somar was being escorted back to the helipad a clear answer from Schneider that Unkerlantian forces were there to stay.

Somar would be reaching the helipad just in time to watch as some sixty five cruise missiles launched from various ships around the fleet aimed again at Ruckton. The message would be clear to Somar once he arrived back at Ruckton, the city was to be leveled in its entirety, there would be nothing left but ash and charred remains.

8 hours sail from 32nd Fleets position

The 143rd Imperial Fleet had been called up after it was clear the Ecmorians would not concede to the Kaiser's demands. In all the 143rd would add two more carriers and an additional 50,000 troops, this time Imperial army troops, not colonial marines. They were more disciplined, better trained, and better equipped. The 143rd's force included 10,000 Guard De Korps troops known for their fanatical and ferocious fighting.

As General Somar was being flown back inland he witnessed the launching of missiles from the Unkerlantian fleet and watched as they penetrated the skies deep into his homeland. He kept a calm composure but silently cursed Unkerlantum and their murderous regime. He vowed to himself to rid every single one of their soldiers from Amorlian land by any means necessary. When the chopper landed he hastily made his way to the Humvee and the two escorting technicals, they made off into the woods and headed towards Ruckton, there was no doubt that's where the bombs were falling.

Ruckton, Amorlia

The militiamen were still preparing barricades and laying booby traps in the streets when the explosions started. Fire ripped through the city at a constant rate, destroying everything in its path. Bodies were flown at ungodly speeds around the city, they were ripped limb from limb others were decimated completely. The city crumbled under the onslaught, there was no place to hide, hardly any building went untouched. The hours of torture seemed like days as death engulfed the city, over 75% of it was destroyed. Only a few residential areas were left unscathed and some of downtown still stood when the shells and bombings ceased.

85,000 civilians had perished in the attack and 2,000 militiamen. In a city of a little over 400,000 this was a devastating impact. Shell shocked civilians wandered the smoldering streets, searching for loved ones and hoping for the best. The 9,000 remaining militiamen regrouped, some assigned to herding civilians to the outskirts of the city where makeshift camps would be made, others resumed setting up positions for the inevitable siege by Unkerlantian troops. They prepared to defend Amorlia at all cost and Ruckton could not be taken, they knew if Ruckton fell it would set in a chain of events that could spell doom for all of Amorlia.

The remaining militiamen who were able bodied and in fighting condition took up positions among the rubble that remained of Ruckton. Morale raised slightly when General Somar arrived, though he was visibly shaken by the punishment the city had taken. The enemy's savagery was unmatched even by the ruthless Azkans, this was unlike anything he'd seen before. General Somar warned his men of the upcoming invasion and informed them of the monstrous fleet he had seen at the beach.

General Somar drove to the middle of the city and ordered platoon leaders and Lieutenants to converge on his position for a briefing. Once he was surrounded by his militiamen General Somar stood on top of the hood of his Humvee and began to speak, "Men, we're about to face something we've never faced before. We're about to face evil in its' purest form, these men who attack our lands are twisted, foul people. We absolutely cannot allow them to take root in our cities, our towns and our villages, poisoning our people with their darkness! They show no mercy towards civilians, they honor no code and because of this, you should show them no mercy, show them no honor! We will fight to the very last man, we will let them know that the day they decided to take these lands, was the very day they decided to slice their own wrists. Remember men, Ecmoria is for Ecmorians!"

The militiamen cheered and thrust their weapons in the air as they rallied around their leader. Shortly after addressing his men General Somar made his way to Hunvilia to meet with Laninus. If Amorlia was to be saved and properly defended then there would have to be cooperation with outside forces, General Somar felt he should be at the territory's capital to participate in these proceedings. Deep inside he knew it was only a matter of time before Ruckton fell, but Amorlia would need all the time it could buy.

Colonel Garfield yelled over the sound of aircraft to the militiamen, "I need to see your man in charge here!" Garfield had heard by now that Unkerlantum, or as the Colonel's men derogatorily referred to them, the "Unks," were swamping the Amorlians, and he needed to establish a plan at the capitol quick.

By now the UES force had mostly arrived.
The Supercarrier, HMS Commander Robert Edwards, and its compliment of several dozen escort carriers, battle-cruisers, mine-layers, destroyers, etc. (with a small detachment of marines) had arrived in Amorlian waters, well within firing distance of the Unkerlantum naval forces via long-range weapons and missiles. The squadrons of F-35's were prepped, and some were kept in the air at all times.

The engineers had cleared a long, thin strip of field outside the Amorlian capitol, allowing C-17's and C-130's to skim the ground at low speed and drop cargo, troops, and vehicles. V-22's, UH-60's, and other helicopters made their way inland from the carrier group carrying any material forwarded to them from the Ed States as well.

Besides the dirt airstrip, the engineers and paratroopers had made a small base. A small tent town, surrounded by barricades of sand-bags, pre-prepped cage mesh, and anything else that could be gathered formed a small perimeter. Barbed wire, land mines, and scary "MINE FIELD!" signs decorated the base outskirts. Troops rushed back and forth preparing the small stash of weapons that have yet had a chance to be delivered; heavy mortars, 50 cal. machine guns, various grenade launchers, a few Humvees and armored Land Rovers, electronics communication equipment, a couple of Panasonic Toughbooks, many combat, recon., and suicide UAV's (numbering around 200 total) and a handful of heavy anti-tank platforms were being assembled or readied.

Another 1,000 Paratroopers and special forces were on their way as well.

It was clear to anyone with even the lowest-tech visual military satellite that the base forces were attempting to establish a large airfield and several heavy equipment stations, surely for the several infantry divisions and (eventually) any armor on its way. While the UES 4th Marine Infantry Division was only a few hours away, safely under the watch of escort subs and cruisers, and well as several fighters, the armor would take some time to be delivered.

To Unkerlantum Esteemed:

Your imperialistic policies are intolerable. The Constitutional Monarchy of the United Ed States formally demands the complete cessation of hostilities so that an obviously very obtainable peaceful compromise may be attained.

Though the United Ed States has yet to formally enter the conflict, we sympathize with the Amorlians, and are prepared to fight for the freedom of an ally, an ally which is at present having a war of extermination waged upon them.

Please consider this plea, or at least open a direct line of communication with the Ed States so that negotiation may commence.

Good luck making the right call,

The Colonel was a little worried to see this gun-toting militia leader as the head of the the area, but the Colonel decided to give the man the benefit of the doubt.
"General," the Colonel asked, "do you have any comprehensive plans of defense as of yet? I have a lot of men coming to assist; they should number in the thousands within hours. We also have a large Air Force, decent Navy, and sizable Marine Force at our disposal." The Colonel added for the benefit of the General, "and we have many crates filled with weapons for you and your men."

General Somar couldn't help but notice the UES Colonel eying his weapon with concern, it was not out of the norm in Ecmoria for military leaders to be armed like the soldiers they commanded were since they often themselves participated in battle. "Ruckton has been heavily bombed and shelled and we have reason to believe that the enemy will converge on that city within a matter of hours. As of right now around 9,000 of my men are there defending it but judging from what I've seen of Unkerlantum's arsenal it's only a matter of time before they'll either be forced to retreat or surrender. I've received orders from my superior that that city can absolutely not fall. If we can get some reinforcements there before Unkerlantum begins their siege I believe we can halt their advance and force them back to the negotiation table."

Under cover of even more artillery strikes the northern and southern wings began their advance, led by armored spear heads and IFV's they plowed through the Amorlian countryside moving as quickly as possible to encircle the city of Ruckton isolating it. Soon Reich's forces would be gathered and would be ready to begin the last bloody central assault and take the ruined city itself.

By afternoon Schneider expected the flag of the Reich to fly over the ruins of Ruckton.

Vice Admiral Luzon looked out over the horizon as finally his 143rd Imperial fleet made a visual sighting of Admiral Schneider's battle group.

Even as Luzon's fleet continued on towards the rallying point some 8,000 GDK troops, and 15,000 imperial army troops had been sent to land farther north from the 32nd's beach head in order to make a direct push towards the city of Maligla and effectively neutralize organized resistance north of Ruckton.

Maligla would be a different operation entirely, there would be no massive bombardment, only light, precision strikes by aircraft and attack helicopters would support the 23,000 man strong combined assault force.

The remaining 2,000 GDK troops, and 35,000 army troops of Luzon's forces would link up with Schneider's group of 7,000 marines in the direct assault on Ruckton while the northern flank attacked with 2,000 and 6,000 from the south. Ruckton's defenders would be overwhelmed.

The final attack on Ruckton was scheduled to take place early in the morning after a final nightlong artillery barrage combined with continuous air strikes.

Meanwhile...

Schneider looked over the latest reports as a growing thorn in his side the UES continued to deploy forces towards Hunvilia, a transmission had been received only an hour ago, Schneider however, had decided to ignore the transmission until after the assaults on Maligla and Ruckton. If his offensives were successful they would greatly increase his position at the negotiation table.

The fact that outsiders were now beginning to pose a serious threat to his operations hastened Schneider in his resolve to take Ruckton. However not wanting to draw the outsiders in directly,

Schneider ordered several AWACS craft launched, along with resuming CAP's over his and the 143rd's fleets, additionally he dispatched two screens of eight submarines each to take up position between his and the UES fleets.

Another submarine was dispatched with a different objective, to take up a position south of the Amorlian port city of Salmont, the intention was to hit the city with a brief cruise missile strike to tie down the defenders there from going north.

Ruckton, City Limits

Even as the city received yet another pounding courtesy of Unkerlantian artillery, the enemy troop movements did not go unnoticed by the city's defenders. A network of observant villagers and militia scouts had provided intelligence that suggested the city was being surrounded and soon the Unkerlantian advance would begin. The Amorlian militia forces, mainly composed of males between the ages of 12-28, had swelled some in size, recruiting a number of those who were formally in the civilian camps east of the city within their ranks. These new additions were fairly young and they were hastily armed and grouped with their older counterparts, they were told to do as their superiors told them to and to fight to the very last breath, for if this city was taken all of Amorlia might fall as well.

Although the majority of the militiamen defending the city had a good amount of combat experience, the younger ones did not and were given brief tutorials on how to use and reload their weapons before being rushed to the front lines straight out of the civilian camps.

The militiamen dug in within the ruins of Ruckton, setting up heavy machine gun nests within the hollowed out buildings of the city. Snipers took root in the high rises of apartment buildings and on the roofs of smaller structures, hoping to provide leverage for their brothers engaged in direct combat. The 11,000 Amorlian militiamen hunkered down in the city, clutching their weapons and saying their prayers to the gods of war, they knew once the shells stop raining that the Unkerlantian infantry would come. It was their duty as the defenders of this city and of Amorlia to protect them both from outside threats and they intended to do so with all their might and as long as they were able.

Maligla, Amorlia

The news of enemy troop movement west of Maligla came as a surprise to the militia stationed within the city. So far Hunvilia and Ruckton had been the center of the enemy's attention and Maligla had remained unscathed, but that was about to change as the militia took up positions in the city and ordered civilians to stay inside, newly aware of the large Unkerlantian force headed their way. The 4,000 militia men were armed with AK-47s, RPGs, grenades, M1919 heavy machine guns and as well as around two dozen technicals.

The local commander thought the best strategy for defense would be to allow the Unkerlantian troops and armor within the city limits and begin their attack once they were officially inside Maligla, using their knowledge of the backstreets and the city's geography to their advantage. The militia wanted to make this a house to house, street to street fight, hopefully wearing the better equipped and much more numerous Unkerlantians out with guerrilla tactics and the home field advantage. Nothing moved on the streets as enemy troops approached, civilians had been tucked away in their homes and the militia quietly awaited the arrival of their foes from the city's buildings and backstreets.

The militia held their fire until Unkerlantian forces were well within the city and then began their assault, firing from the windows of businesses and homes with AK-47 and heavy machine gun fire. Plumes of smoke trailed behind RPGs as they were aimed and fired at clusters of enemy troops and the armor that accompanied them. Technicals rode through the streets, the militia on the back of them strafing Unkerlantian troops with heavy machine gun fire before swerving away in attempt to avoid return fire. The city was loud with the crackling of gunfire and booming of explosives as the battle went underway.

Maligla

The incursion force sent into the city itself found itself under attack from all sides as men rushed for cover and other specialized teams began the gritty task of kicking in door by door to clear buildings, anything that moved inside was shot, no hesitation, no questions asked.

Inside the more heavily armored vehicles troops returned fire with 30mm cannons and 50 calibre machine guns from enclose turrets. Radio crews yelled frantically into their mics as the roar of jet engines tore through the sounds of the firefight, Unkerlantian strike planes dropped their precision munitions on designated targets toppling entire buildings in one pass.

Still the Incursion force was forced to withdrawl slightly forming their own line and returning fire, for now their dead were left where they fell, to be recovered later.

Attack helicopters sprayed windows and balconys with auto cannon fire and straffed back alleyways with rockets. Other units outside the city set up mortars and began raining them down onto enemy positions to push them back.

Other forces were inserted by helicopter into other parts of the city and began to sweep back towards the gunfight, the battle for Maligla would be a bloody one.

Ruckton

Through the darkness of the early morning sparatic flashes of light bust from all over followed by the zinging and wizzing sound of incoming rounds as gun crews opened up with 20mm cannons, and an assortment of heavy machineguns.

The earth shook as the Unkerlantian tanks fired salvos directly at Amorlian barricades, the united yell of thousands of men from seemingly all sides dampend the sound of even the heavy gunfire as the infantry forces surged forward in waves with the secondary wave providing cover fire for the wave infront of them.

Mortars now replaced the familar sound of incoming artillery rounds asthe smaller explosions blanketed the area infront of the advancing troops.

From three sides the Unkerlantian infantry surged forward rushing into the ruins of buildings while armor and other heavier vehicles pounded away at suspected enemy concentrations. Infantry units quickly set up their own machine guns, and other crew weapons as they pushed into the ruins of the city.

Lighter IFV's moved in slowly with their infantry escorts providing 20mm cannon fire to silence enemy machine gun nests and rpg crews.

The familiar streak of a Unkerlantian strike plane diving in swept over the city as they dropped their payloads of bombs and fired off straffes from their cannons.

Maligla, Amorlia

An Amorlian militiaman fired out the window of a civilian home with rage and precision at Unkerlantian troops, he screamed and cursed them over the gunfire as he pinpointed his targets one by one, replacing every clip that was emptied. The backdoor of the home he was firing out of was kicked open by Unkerlantian troops and his back was sprayed with bullets, his body slumped forward and he hung limply out of the same window he had been firing out of, blood and spittle oozing from his mouth. The civilian family of four who cowered to the right of him were shot down in the same motion, they barely made a sound as they huddled together and their bodies were pumped with hot led, the elderly father died tossed over his wife and daughters in a futile attempt to save them from their inevitable fate. This scene played out several times over in Maligla as Amorlian militia fought the Unkerlantians at point blank range in the streets and homes of the city.

Hundreds of civilians perished as entire apartment buildings were taken out by enemy missiles, effectively killing the handful of snipers that hid within their walls but ending the lives of scores more innocent.

The pitched battle continued and losses were mounting, with about 500 militiamen laying down their lives for the city within the first hour of fighting. The Amorlians took defensive positions, holing themselves up deep within the city and fighting their invaders with crazed ferocity. A technical sped down a main street it's heavy machine gun bed firing wildly at Unkerlantian troops, suddenly it erupted into a ball of flames as it was struck in its side by an incoming helicopter missile. The useless shell of a truck continued to roll forward its' driver burnt to a crisp and the militiamen in the bed ripped to shreds by the blast. The remaining half dozen technicals parked on the corners of downtown streets and fired into enemy formations with heavy machine gun fire. Militiamen armed with RPGS continued to fire at whatever Unkerlantian armor was in range hoping to slow the enemy's advance down.

Ruckton, Amorlia

The militiamen retreated back into the city as the barricades were blown to bits and the enemy began to press in on their front lines. Many of those who retreated ended up with bullets in their backsides as the machine guns rained down upon them, ending their lives in painful volleys. Snipers fired rapidly at the fast approaching Unkerlantians from hidden positions within the city's rubble, providing cover fire for militiamen who darted across the streets of Ruckton from one house to another firing angrily at the Unkerlantian infantry and hurling grenades into their formations.

Hundreds of militiamen were mowed down by the cannon fire as they bravely attempted to rise up from their positions and perform a counterattack against the Unkerlantians who were gaining ground early.

Deeper within the city Amorlian positions were being pounded by air, their defenses softened by the bombs that exploded all around them and temporarily disorganized their ranks as they lost hundreds of men in the attack. RPGs fired in succession at the approaching Unkerlantian tanks and heavy machine gun fire continued to fill the air as Amorlians pumped rounds into the enemy from positions in hollowed out buildings and within the rubble of the city.

Some of the militiamen engaged in hand to hand combat, pulling out their sidearm handguns if they were lucky enough to have one others relied on jagged hunting knives and if given the opportunity stuck them within the guts of their enemy. The Amorlians were outnumbered and outequipped but terribly stubborn as they attempted to halt the enemy's advance with staunch resistance.

Among the dozens of UES aircraft swerving in and around inner Ecmoria, one stood out. The Learjet in question was guarded by four F-22 Raptors, the personal bodyguard compliment. The Learjet landed hard in the UES base outside Hunvilla (dubbed "Hunvilla International" by the troops) which at present consisted of an impressive (though hastily assembled) array of defenses, equipment, and a rather crappy dirt airfield.

From the jet emerged General Will J. Kelvin, a 49 year old seasoned commander of UES forces recognized previously for innumerable displays of genius. He was a competent commander of massive campaigns, to say the least.
He and his staff walked over to the command tent in the center of the base. He called on the base commander and got to work.

The staff debated and analyzed. "It appears we have only one real course of action, then, which we may actually be able to stick to. In true UES style we shall blitz the Unks. If we stood up to them conventionally only, man-to-man, our military would probably come out losing. We mustn't let them drag us into regular combat." The General received nods of approval from his staff. He continued, "Our Army, as of late, has suffered internal troubles. It is competent by most standards, but perhaps not so much as Unk-forces are. We must use what we do, then, excel in. At current, we have 27 Supercarriers w/ battle group accompaniments, as well as thousands of aircraft. We shall deploy strategically, not carelessly. Continue amassing infantry here. Send the navy, ready the air forces. We shall hit the beaches and enemy navies hard, hopefully throwing off the invasion. This will give us and our allies to turn the Amorlian coasts into patrol-able regions."

Hunvilla International base of operations was now seeing the arrival of just under 4,000 men, by now arriving by air and sea.

A second carrier battlegroup approached Ecmoria from the south, and anchored itself just close enough to be of concern to the Unkerlantum military, now having a UES fleet to the north and another to the south. The massive amount of F-35's, sea sparrow cruise missiles, a handful of carrier-ready F-22's, AV-8 Super Harriers, and other combat aircraft were readied.
It was no secret that the UES superfleets were limited. Though impressive, the military decay of the past few years had taken its toll. Only a few supercarrier fleets were combat ready at a time. This is why the UES attack plan relied upon quick blitz-styled attacks, as long-term sustainable attacks were a luxury afforded to nations who had not just suffered a sizable depression and the budget cuts that came with it.

A V-22 Osprey braved the chaos of the city and settled itself down to a hover over a building that was still mostly intact. The aircraft released a cable, and from it slid down eight UES Marine Special Forward Operators along with boxes full of communications equipment.
The Marines made their way to some militamen in the area, and asked the fighters for any troops familiar with communications equipment and its use. The UES plan, the Marines explained, was to establish a system of militiamen/UES operators who would call in fire. Fire, the troops said, that would shoot forth from the storm of Stealth attack aircraft and navy cruise missiles, with any luck, shocking the Unkerlantum troops into an (at least temporary) halt.

Ruckton, Ecmoria
Similar to the infiltration in Maligla, a lone V-22 Osprey set itself down, but not in the city. Upon the realization that Ruckton defenses were falling, the pilot set the UES troops down just outside the city in the presumed safety. Eight troops stormed out, with their equipment, and sprinted to the nearest militia defenders....

After identifying themselves as allies, the UES marines were rushed into what appeared to be a former restaurant that now was being used a semi-base of operations for the city's defenses. The city was lighting up all around them, dull thuds and crackles could be heard in the distance and the ground seemed to constantly vibrate and shake. Inside the restaurant Lietunenant Commander Jack Rinez, commander of the Maligla militia informed the UES marines that the bulk of the Unkerlantian invasion was coming from East of the city.

"If we want to slow them down we'll have to almost level the eastern sector of the city which has been almost completely overrun by the Unks, as you call them. Civilian casualties are to be expected but their lives will not be in vain, if we can stop this advance we can ensure a better life for Amorlians.", said Rinez as he pointed at a map which had been laid on a table in the back area before the marines. He was an older man in his late 40's and his hair was black and heavily peppered with gray, an almost comical pipe hung out the right side of his mouth as he spoke and a bushy mustache topped off his look.

Ruckton, Amorlia

The militiamen who encountered the UES marines were just on the outskirts of the civilian camps west of the city and had yet to see any combat with the Unkerlantian forces. They brought the marines to the highest ranking officer in the area after learning that they were allies and there to help with the war effort. The group of militiaman's leader was a young man in his early 20's and had shaggy blond hair, he shook hands with the marines before informing them that the city was surrounded and looked to be falling into the hands of Unkerlantum.

"Things are falling by the waist side in the city, our men are surrounded, out equipped and out numbered by most reports. It's only a matter of time before they're overwhelmed. The Unks are blitzing the city from all sides excluding from the east which is where you are now, if you have the aircraft, we can provide you with the intel to deliver payloads on Unk positions in the southern, northern and western portions of the city. I just hope your weapons are precise because there's close combat going on in those areas.", said the young man before lighting a cigarette.

Ruckton

As UES troops landed the Reich forces did halt their advance, for a little while at least.

With spotters now within visual range of targets the artillery stationed at the beachhead began to rain down shells with deadly accuracy, some rounds were even laser guided directly onto enemy positions. Their would be little hope for a successful defense as the imperial troops advanced a few hundred yards, paused and then called in more strikes before preparing to advance again.

120mm and 80mm mortar rounds pounded the lines as well all along the front of the Unkerlantian forces, as armor and other heavier units moved in to push the assault further against stiff enemy resistance.

Maligla

While the osprey aircraft may have made it into the city they would not make it out as 50 cal machine guns and 20mm cannons from IFV's aimed directly at the incoming and outgoing aircraft.

The unkerlantian troops continued their advances with armor and heavier equipment surging forward, attack helicopters continued their straffes with cannon and rocket fire to knock out enemy strong points while the infantry below continued the bloody task of clearing houses room by room without mercy.

Aid stations had been established in the rear to deal with the now growing number of the dead and wounded, somewhat contradictory to earlier actions the Unkerlantian medics treated both friend and foe alike.

Amorlian militia steadily lost ground in the demolished city as the Unkerlantians lobbed shells on their positions. They returned fire and began to pull out to the eastern portion of the city with over half of Ruckton now under the boot of Unkerlantum. In their retreat they left surprises for the enemy, such as rigged explosives and trip line bombs to buy time as they prepared for their final stand.

C4 explosives were placed in strategic areas underground in the sewer systems of Ruckton and were to be detonated when Unkerlantian troops made their way on top of them on the ground above.

Heavy machine gun nests did their best to return fire on enemy helicopters as they strafed Amorlian defenses down in the streets with their cannons.

Maligla

As the Unkerlantians continued their kick door operations they would find that many of the houses were now rigged with small explosives that would be triggered as soon as the doors were burst through. Medics who were caught in the crossfire were green lit and would find themselves under fire by the militia.

The Amorlians slowly began to lose ground but were still putting up a fight, lobbing grenades at concentrations of Unkerlantian troops and firing rounds of RPGs at approaching armor and tanks.

Heavy machine guns fired on any helicopters within range, hoping to ease up the pressure on the militiamen who were being targeted in the streets below.

While the other Osprey (apparently without much danger there) made it out of the city, the Maliglan force was not so lucky. The Marines successfully made it out to safety, and all the while the aircraft took small arms fire.
Finally, the V-22 took off. The 50 caliber machine gun on the back of the craft shredded the windows and roofs of the nearby buildings, causing such devastation that the pilot wrongly felt the fire suppression would allow him enough cover. During the most vulnerable part of the take-off, when the aircraft was gaining speed and still low to the ground and an easy mark, an IFV smashed through an intersection and began to open fire on the helicopter. The V-22 pilot, a veteran of the UES anti-pirate conflicts, was not familiar with technologically-competent enemies. The pilot attempted to flee the scene, but flew a more-or-less straight path down the road just above building height. Several auto-cannon rounds smashed into the left rotor, the craft failed, and fell several feet; the V-22's port side grated against a building, spiraled the craft, and it hurtled into a shop, landing on it's port side. Flame poured from the left rotor, and smoke from the right.

The pilot, mostly unharmed, wedged himself from his seat, and dragged his wounded co-pilot from his. The pilot took out his 9mm handgun, placed it across his lap, then gave a distress call. "Mayday, mayday, mayday, this is "flight 2" in Maligla and we are down. I repeat, our aircraft has been downed. We have crash landed with 6 souls on board." Little did he know, however, that the auto-cannon had killed 2 of the crew, and the crash killed another.

The Marines saw the aircraft downed a few blocks away. The Marine talking to the Amorlian told him, "if you allow, we'll take down the entire eastern portion of the city." The Marine radio-man then began to radio UES command that the had direct orders to blow the eastern part of the city, "Roger command, we have a green light on all."

As soon as that was settled, the Marine in charge pointed out to where the V-22 had crashed. "What are the chances of us getting out there to rescue our buddies once this place starts going up in flame?," he asked. He knew the answer would probably be an unwelcomed one.

Ruckton
The Marine broke open the crate that they had carried from the V-22, and pulled out a dozen small, 6 inches by 6 inches, easy to use trans./comm. devices. He handed them out to the militiamen with the instructions, "All you have to do is push the "ON" button and talk into this [he motioned to a microphone attached to the device's side]. We'll be here with the master [he pulled a a large laptop-like device] and we'll interpret what you have to say. Using your the GPS transmitters, we can establish bearings and call in precise strikes where you need. Now sprint all the radios you can to all the people you can within a half-hour. The F-22's should be here by then."

Off the northern coast of Ecmoria
198 aircraft, 4 EC-3's, 24 B-1's, 13 B-2's, 47 carrier-born F-35's, 14 land-based F-35's, 26 A-10's, 11 various electronic warfare aircraft, two C-130's holding one BLU-82 Daisy Cutter each, and 57 F-22's, commenced Operation Helping A Brother Out, with their air force codenamed Force Rose Kiss, rendezvoused from UES long-range flights as well as the local carriers and continued inland.

At the same time as the force first flew over dry land, the north carrier group turned for attack positions. subs took point, followed by cruisers and escorts, all forming a trench system in front of the supercarrier. The fleet, still very far away from the Unkerlantums, could only possibly consider naval assaults from long-range sea-born cruise missiles, whose effect would surely be limited to a minimum.

The UES would now play the war by ear. It had some naval force, some land, and a powerful amount of air units in the area. The UES didn't want, and wasn't completely prepared for full-scale war, but all the chess pieces had been set up on the battlefield. The UES could call in the heavy, then heavier, then heaviest units as the Unkerlantum forces decided how much destruction they really wished to inflict beyond what was already done.

The hope, though, was for both sides to be content with their respective shows of force. Then, the Unkerlantum could be brought to the negotiating table with Amorlian forces. Why attack Amorlians with the stakes now so high? Besides, there were some lovely ruffians ripe for destruction just across the Amorlian border....

Hunvilla
Garfield, on his personally flown-in gray-camo hummer, drove up to the nearest Amorlian soldier. Though the soldier was a middle-aged man, Garfield yelled at him, "You, boy, get your officer(s) here. I have 1,000 combat-ready troops to ship off, and I haven't the slightest idea where to ship them off to. To it boy, run and get him!!!" Garfield then leaned back and took out a pack of Bubble-gum and proceeded to chew it, though he resigned himself to not blow bubbles.

Maligla

Commander Rinez looked out to where the marine was pointing and slightly raised his brow, "Listen, these crazy bastards are sweeping in and time is all we have right now, if you want to get those boys you better get them right now! I can't risk sending any of my men with you either, that aircraft looks to be deep within Unk formations and our front line is shrinking enough as it is."

Commander Rinez looked down at the map of the city and tweaked his mustache, "How about we give you one hour to get your boys? After that these bombings have to commence or else this city is going to hell in a hand basket."

Ruckton

"Mighty fancy stuff you got right here!", said the young Amorlian militiaman before distributing the devices to his comrades and repeating the instructions he had just received. Groups of runners were sent off into the chaotic city where they linked up with Amorlian militia positions and began to point out Unkerlantian targets in the city into the device mics.

Dozens of targets were pointed out by the militiamen and they waited with all the patience they could for results to be delivered as they stood their ground in the western portion of the city.

Hunvilia

The militiaman smiled and approached the UES army man, apparently of high rank judging by his demeanor, "Oh but I am an officer....sir. It's my understanding that your men are already in talks with the Supreme Commander of this miltia, General Somar, about your troop placements. I can direct you to their location if you wish."

Maligla

The Marines set up a work station amidst the rubble, comprised of a few GPS devices, a radio station, and other devices. The Marine in charge took four of his men. He told his second in command, "I want you to have the Air Force blow the city to hell, if I am or am not yet back here in one hour. I'm making an executive decision here; we can't let the downed helicopter be either captured or annihilated." The second in command said he understood, and he clicked the Start button on the stop-watch function of his watch. He would guide the aircraft in, and commence any and all needed bombing regardless in exactly one hour.

Maligla, a few blocks away from the Amorlian/Marine position

The pilot's radio crackled, "We understand your situation. We will have help come ASAP. Stay on the line." Though the UES command message was hopeful, the pilot knew help wouldn't come in time. It was undoubted that at least some Unkerlantum troops had seen the crash, and were on there way already. He didn't expect rescue, at least in any short amount of time.

The downed pilot checked the health of his men. He organized the survivors, three of them total (the co-pilot being wounded). The three men gathered ammo and weapons. The pilot surveyed that the mounted guns on the V-22 were all lost or damaged, including the 50 caliber machine gun, which was dented, scraped, and not fireable.

The pilot assumed command, being the highest ranking, and surveyed the area. After some deliberation, the three men decided to stay put. Running out into the city, where bombs fell all around, would be suicide. They decided they would stay in the aircraft, firing out of it for defense, holding out for as long as possible, on the slight chance that rescue would arrive....

Ruckton

The Marines analyzed the calls, gathered locations, and patched the calls through to command.

"Roger, Force A is inbound."
Force A, comprised of 2 EC-3's, 35 carrier-born F-35's, the 26 A-10's, 4 electronic warfare aircraft and 25 F-22's (the F-35's heavily armed with precision-strike munitions, the F-22's armed with some precision-strike weapons) broke off from the main group and continued towards Ruckton.

Within minutes they were nearing the city's edge.

The lead aircraft, an F-22 whose pilot was a tall, tan man who wore cool shades, had a buzz cut and was called Fourth Horsemen by his air buddies, requested the permission to engage and respond to the Amorlian radio calls.

UES command didn't wish to give the green light yet, however. One last call was made to the Unkerlantum carrier group, where it was presumed Unkerlantum command was.

"Unkerlantum forces, this is the United Ed States Regional Command. We urge you to accept a cease-fire immediately."

The message would be resent every twenty seconds until responded to.

Command would give the Unkerlatum forces six minutes to respond, the time it would take Force A to reach the first Ruckton target radioed in.

UES command crossed their fingers and watched the clock.

Hunvilia
The General was startled. "Oh," he said. "I'm missing the fun. Damn." He kindly asked the Amorlian officer where to find them.

EDIT:
1,000 UES paratroopers began a speedy march to Ruckton.

Davis, the Captain, and a force of 6 Marine bodyguards loaded into 3 Humvees, the lead and rear vehicles with 50 caliber machine gun mounts. The Marines made preparations to pick up (or meet) the Amorlians, where they would make their way to the coast, then the Retribution.

General Somar rendezvoused with Davis and the UES army captain accompanied by his own convoy, 12 militiamen armed with AK-47s. His battered Humvee was guarded by two technicals and lead the way to the Ecmorian coast where the bulk of Unkerlantian forces were stationed.

The ceasefire had been accepted and Laninus had decided a halt in the fighting would at the very least give Amorlian defenses time to regroup and better fortify their positions. After the last time at the negotiation table Amorlians were doubtful that anything would come out of this session, other than a brief pause in fighting.

Once General Somar and company arrived at the beach they awaited to be brought upon the Retribution to once again attempt to reach a peaceful solution to this short lived, but increasingly bloody conflict.

The convoy waited....

The UES force was sent back to the UES mainland. They were to be readied again (or suitable replacement aircraft would be sent in their stead), so that they may once again take to the sky as the negotiations ended in the event that negotiations went sour.

Meanwhile, massive amounts of troops were being moved. Another 5,000 Marines were being shipped over to Amorlia, with 2,000 already on the island scrambling to the entrenched Amorlian cities. 1,000 were to march to Maligla and 1,000 to Ruckton.

The Marine forces within Maligla and Ruckton regrouped and readied (and saved the downed V-22). Ospreys and Blackhawks rushed in crates of Stinger missiles, grenade launchers, and heavy weapons platforms. Permanent UES bases of operations were only established however on the outskirts of Maligla, as the Amorlian militia plan of action was apparently to blow the city to bits once it began to fall. The situation was different in Ruckton where the first UES Marines who arrived dug in, layed barbed wire, and began to slap down fast-drying concrete shelters. Given only hours, the defences within the city would not be much, but they would be something.

At the fronts, the Unkerlantian troops dug in themselves, but more importantly surveyed the enemy, pre targeting strong points for artillery and missile strikes should the order be given.

At the beachhead

The UES commander was greeted suprisingly warmly by the checkpoint guards, he was considered to be a true military commander, not the scruffy militia man Somar was, who was clearly addressed in a condesending manner as the pair with a light escort were put on choppers and again flown to sea to meet with Admiral Schneider on the Retribution

Meanwhile

Unknown to the UES and Amorlian forces, the government at home was not about to loose the territory it had fought so hard for, in route was the 1st Field Army, 850,000 troops, tanks, artillery it would be more than enough to subdue the UES light paratroopers, and Amorlian militia, the government intended to use the field army as a threatening option, as deploying such a large force for vast amounts of time was not efficent or economical.

Similar to the previous meeting Schneider's tone was condescending towards Somar, while in contrast both Schneider and his men treated Davis with the utmost respect.

"My previous offer stands Somar...Maligla is all but Reich territory now, abandon it and agree to the establishment of a DMZ or fighting will continue."

Schneider paused sliding a dossier across the table to Somar...

"As you can see a much larger force is already coming to assist in quelling the territory..I would especially note that the report is more than two days old...

Tell me Somar, do you really believe you and your army can withstand much more abuse? Even with your allies are you willing to bear the blood of so many of your people on your hands?

I must make myself perfectly clear if no deal is reached, and soon when the 1st arrives offensive operations will resume, and there will be no quarter given. "
Ecmoria

General Somar overlooked the dossier and hid his concern about Amorlian defenses being able to withstand the coming onslaught of Unkerlantian troops. He slid it back across the table to Schneider and looked over at Davis briefly, he was about to put a new offer on the table, one that would be controversial among Ecmorians but would temporarily end the bloodshed in the war ravaged Amorlian territory.

"I am willing to allow you to maintain your occupation over all Ecmorian land that you are currently in control of for an indefinite amount of time if you will agree to halt your advance immediately.", said Somar in a solemn tone.

General Somar knew it would be only a matter of time before both Ruckton and Maligla fell into Unkerlantian hands if peace could not be attained. If those two major cities were to fall it would be a crucial blow to Amorlia's morale and defense capabilities and would almost certainly be the precursor to a siege of Hunvilia, Amorlia's capital. General Somar figured if he could get the enemy to draw lines in the sand now he could gain time to rebuild his defenses and reorganize a strategy to push the Unkerlantians into the sea and out of Ecmoria for good.

Thank freaking God thought Davis. He knew the UES was surely willing to commit a lot of force to the conflict, but would the Ed States' legislature really be willing to take the Unkerlantum forces head on? Somehow, he was doubtful....

Despite this, he remained expressionless for the negotiations.
