Emperor Marcus Resantole stood on his balcony and admired the city of Resa before him. The sun was slowly setting casting an orange glow onto the buildings and streets below. The Emperor did this every evening to help him relax and to gather his thoughts. As he stared he heard a knock at his door, an urgent knock.

"Emperor!", came a muffled voice from behind the thick wooden doors, "It is Don Afeldo. There is trouble brewing!"

"Enter Afeldo and tell me of your problem." , replied Marcus without moving his gaze from the city.

The door opened slowly and there entered a man in his 50's. Don Afeldo was a close advisor and friend to Marcus and had helped raise him as a child along with Marcus' adopted parents, the old Emperor and Empress. Marcus turned to face Afeldo.

"You look concerned friend. Sit down and tell me what is wrong." continued Marcus. They both sat.

"It is the province of Islin, my Emperor. It is under attack!" said Afeldo hurriedly.

"By whom Afeldo? We have been at peace with our enemies for a long time now. They would not attack so foolishly." replied Marcus a look of concern coming across his face.

"That is just it my friend. This enemy is one of our own. One who wishes to be the Head of this country. You know of the Free Churches Leader, Bishop Dwight? He is the leader of this small rebellion and he has gathered some support of dissidents and rogue soldiers who live in Islin. Reports are coming in that those who do not join him, are killed..." Afeldo trailed off with a small tear in his eye.

Marcus stood at once.

"Then what I have feared for a long time is finally happening. This brings a concern that I cannot trust everyone I do. Bishop Dwight visited me last year as a gesture of goodwill. He is nothing more than a snake in religious clothes. Afeldo, you have been my closest of advisors and friends. I want you to gather those you know are still loyal to the Empire, generals, advisors, negotiators and bring them to me as soon as possible. I fear the people of Islin are in trouble if we do not act soon." said Marcus once more staring at the sunset, which now was the colour of red.

Islin

"Marcus Resantole is an unholy man! He leads an Empire of damned subjects, who will perish in the afterlife. Those who do not join this cause to rid us of this devil, are nothing more than his minions. Islin will not fall from grace under an Emperor!"

Bishop Dwight had taken the provinces main government building with his rebels and now broadcast this message over and over again to the people of Islin. Some had come to support him, others denied him and so were not permitted to live. With the rebels on his side, Bishop Dwight had a chance against the Imperial Army. Afterall some of his men were ex soldiers.

"General. Do we have any news of movements by Marcus?" inquired Bishop Dwight, sitting in the chair that used to belong to the Province Head.

"None as of yet sir. We must remember that even though Marcus is young, he is smart." replied the General.

"Also remember I am smarter than this man. I made him gain my trust. The fool." replied Bishop Dwight, " Go to your men and only see me if we have news of Marcus."

"Yes Sir!"

CII (Central International Intelligence) Agent Alexander Melnikov stood outside on his apartments balcony. His Brandy glass sat on the edge of the railing, long drained. The air smelled of gun powder and smoke from the tires that had been used to make the road blocks by the rebel forces. He stared out into the distance, his face lite up by the dull red and orange glow of the still burning fires scattered throughout the city. He rubbed his eyes, this was going to be a long night. he removed the glass from the railing and took it into his apartment. Then he got to work.

He picked up his satellite phone and then punched in to code for the CIID. A some what board voice entered at the other end "Yes, what is it?"

He never could get past the fact that every time he had ever called Winston he sounded like he had just woken him from a dream. " Winston, this is Alexander have you heard the news from here?"

He could hear the sound of Winston straightening up," what news?"

He couldn't help but smile, "Well I'm no expert but I'd say what we have here is a full blown rebellion here in The 'Magnificient' Empire of Londim."

The other side of the line was flooded by silences, "tell me more."

Rain rain rain, its all that ever happened in this part of Bushdome, if it wasn't for the satalights then there would be nothing here but rain. Sgt.Court watched pictures of men holding guns in the air flash across his screen. "Sir" he said to a man who was snoozing in a chair at the other end of the shipping container come office. "Erhu" mumbled the officer asif to say, leave me alone I'm trying to sleep.

Court continued to pester the officer for about another minuet or so before he gave up and walked acros to Court's screen. "Religion, power and guns in a break away state" said Court as he pointed to a report from an ex citizen agent who had moved abroad since his retirement, he had been kept on the goverment payroll as a not so sneeky spy, he just sent one emal a week detailing what was going on and that was his job. But unlike all of the other emails that he sent, this one was not full of waffle. He talked about a preist of some sort stirring up trouble in the name of religion.

"Right inform higher command, this is out of my hand" said the officer to Court as he returned to his chair as the thought of a civil war in a distand land did not trouble him.

Premier Joseph Grey took his place in the conference room. Apparently, there was a situation in the Magnificient Empire of Londim. The cabinet, along with members of the military high command and the Committee for State Security(CSS) were all there. The head of the CSS, Felix Uritsky pulled out a number of documents and said "According to our sources, a rebellion has been started in the Londim province of Islin by Fundamentalists". Joseph replied "Well, I am tempted just to let let them kill each other. One side is composed of imperialists and the other side is composed of religious fanatics. But this is an opportunity for us and I don't think we'll get one like it soon. So how do you recommend we intervene?".

Felix gave a small smile before replying "I expected you would say that. But it would be inadvisable for us to intervene yet. The Londim goverment has not yet begun to act. If we move in now, we would be seen as aggressors. I would recommend we prepare our forces but wait before doing anything else." Joesph simply replied "Very well". He then turned to the commanders there and said "I want a naval force assembled with troops on standby". He turned again to face all the people in the room and said "Now we should turn to other matters".

The Emperor was getting ready for his weekly television appearance. Usually he would talk about affairs, talk about his home life and answer questions that were sent in by the people of Londim. He was the People's Emperor for a reason.

"Emperor, 30 seconds to air." , said Jamie the producer of this segment.

"Thank you Jamie. This may be one of the most important broadcasts we've done since, well my ascension. We are entering dark times and I fear others will use the situation to their advantage." said Marcus quietly.

"Of course Emperor. Things will run smoothly. 5...4..3..", Jamie counted the Emperor in.

"Good evening my fellow Londimians. I know the reason you are watching and it will be addressed. As we all know, Islin came under attack by rebel forces led by Bishop Dwight and many innocent people have been murdered by these forces for not accepting Dwight's beliefs.", Marcus took a breath to allow the information to sink in.

"I had considered Bishop Dwight as a friend and I feel this betrayal of trust just like many of you do. Now I wish to talk to Dwight specifically and you shall all bear witness. Hiding behind shadows will do nothing."

The employees in the studio fell silent. Some of them were from Islin and had had family hurt in the rebellion.

"Bishop Dwight. I will not claim to know what your motivations are and I do not wish to venture into such dangerous territory. What I do know is that you claim to be a man of God and yet you murder innocent people for not accepting your doctrine. If this had started as your forces attacking military personnel, then some retaliation would have happened followed by my own call for diplomacy. I fear it is too late. There are men, women and children throughout the streets of Londim who call for your blood for the inhumane actions you and yours have incurred. You, Bishop, were the aggressor in this violence. The Imperial Army is waiting to capture you, not kill you, capture you. You will be caught and you will come before The Court.

My people, Londim never leaves its own people to the threat of enemies be they external or internal. If you are in Islin and seeing this, we are coming and we will save you from the devil in holy clothes."

With that the broadcast ended and the crunch of Army Boots marching was heard.

Islin

Bishop Dwight had watched the broadcast and said nothing. His General stood by him.

"Well it seems, we have a battle to contend with. How are our troops General?"

"They are ready to fight my lord. We shall show the Imperial Army a real battle." replied the General.

" I shall contact him myself. Maybe he could prove to be a mediator in these troubles.", replied Marcus.

To Emperor Constantino Vladavich of Areona,

I am happy to allow you to visit me to discuss possible solutions. I have sent some of my soldiers towards Islin but so far we are setting up evacuation and aid points to get civilians out of the area before engaging the rebels.

Dear Premier Joseph,

Though I am incredibly grateful for your offer of assistance, I feel that all military conduct will be handled by Londim's Imperial Army against the Rebels. Having too many soldiers in the field would cause further destabilisation, something I am not willing to occur. The Fundamentalist Rebels must learn that their intolerance will not be accepted. They have had the chance of political platform. Bishop Dwight could have run for Regional Councillor. Instead he chose to kill anyone in the name of God..

Emperor Marcus Resantole,
The Magnificient Empire of Londim
The Beatus

Presidential Offices, Royal Temple

President Fogarty, sat behind his fine oak desk, that was obscured from his view by piles of papers. He was becoming bored of these daily SIT-REP briefing, however, his aides insisted they were important. He was reminiscing about his last football game, it seemed like a lifetime ago, back before the civil war, and his rise to the presidency. Suddenly he was jarred from his train of though, by the words, "Public Riots." He snapped up, and noticed it was Brucie, his Foreign affairs adviser. "Say that again?" Devin said, interrupting Bruce Smythe.
"I was just saying Sir, that the situation in Londim could mean trouble," Bruce repeated. "Depending on how things go, and how you deal with this, we could see the worst public riots since the Cripistan affair, and you remember how bad that was."
Devin did. "Okay, explain this a little more, what's going on in Londim?" Devin asked, now concerned of the threat, be it only perceived, to his position, and even his life.
Bruce was about call Devin out, on not paying any attention at all to what they had been saying, however, the look on Devin's face told him, now was not the time for that. He explained the situation to the fullest, and even showed Devin a tape of the Emperor's television appearance.
Even Devin saw the threat in this. "Okay, what do you recommend?"
"Well, Sir, we recommend, you meet with Prior Highbottom, discuss the issue, and then give an address to the public on the situation. Show that you see what's happening, and understand the feelings they undoubtedly have about it," James Jefferson, his public safety adviser told him.
"That sounds like a very good idea," Devin said.

Presidential Broadcast

All the cameras in the room focused on the podium, where Devin stood, in one of his finest suits. The man in front of the teleprompter, began counting down to when the cameras went live. When they did, Devin began to speak.
"I apologize, to you, my citizens for interrupting your regularly scheduled programing, however, there is a serious issue, that I feel, needs to be addressed. As I am sure many of you may know, a situation is developing in Londim. Religious leaders, and their followers in that nation, have taken a stand against the Government. As we speak, their Emperor is sending troops to murder those leaders and their followers. With disregard for religious freedom, and his own people's lives, he sends troops. Troops, not police, no, he has not intentions of trying to take anyone alive. Troops are sent to kill, not arrest. It is clear, that the Emperor feels so threatened by the leader of this protest, Bishop Dwight, that he thinks as long as this Bishop Dwight lives, his position as leader is hanging in the balance. Well I say, that actions as noble as Bishop Dwight's, deserve commendations, not condemnations! This man is simply trying to do what he can for his fellow man, and in doing so, has become a threat to some people. Is that any reason he should die? No it is not. Now, while neither my feelings, nor yours matter, as the nation of Londim, is a sovereign one, and it's leader, while morally wrong, has failed to do anything, that would nullify that fact. Therefore we cannot, and we will not intervene militarily. However, I do wish to make the following offer, should Bishop Dwight, or any of his followers escape the Emperor's 'death squads' they shall have an open offer of sanctuary, and asylum in the Beatus, where they will be free to practice their religion in peace. Thank you."

He then walked away from the podium, and out of the room, declining to answer any questions.

Emperor Marcus watched the tape of the speech from President Bogarty for a third time. His nation had never had any contact with Bogarty or any previous Presidents, yet her Bogarty was offering sanctuary to a man who had taken lives of innocent people who believed in there freedom.

"How do we approach this Afeldo?" trusting his closest friend to help him.

"Well Marcus, if we sit back and let Bogarty make claims like that then he has won but military intervention is to extreme an option. Obviously the people will have heard this speech so it must be addressed." replied Afeldo.

"Very well. I see a PR war has developed against our actions. I shall speak to the nation and address this message." said Marcus.

Live Broadcast

"My fellow Londimians. I am sure you have all seen the footage of President Bogarty's speech on the situation within our borders. I would like to address that footage with my own speech.

President Bogarty insisted the action I had taken was against religious freedom in our nation. That is exactly what I am fighting for. Bishop Dwight has killed any that refuse his religious doctrine be they Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Christian, Sikh, Agnostic or Atheist. Religious freedom in our nation has been longstanding with many past Emperors adopting different religions for themselves. What Bishop Dwight wants to create is a Theocracy where all are bound by his religious doctrine.

President Bogarty also criticised us for sending in the army claiming that an army is sent to kill. Clearly Bogarty still envisions Empires with armies who do nothing but conquest. Before soldiers moved into Islin, they built refugee camps with the best facilities avaliable and have started evacuation proceedings for civilians in areas the Rebels have not taken yet. It is harder to get to the rebel held areas and help the people there who live in fear of their lives. The Generals have been given orders to only issue deadly force commands in self defence. As I stated before, Bishop Dwight will be caught alive and be given a trial. Due to accusations of bias I am willing for a neutral party to hold this trial.

If the Rebels do go to the Beatus then they will not be chased. However they will never be allowed to set foot on Londim soil again. My friends, you have seen the pictures on all the news stations of the damage caused by the rebels. Are these rebels moral men? Killing innocent children as they prayed? No, these are monsters who have come out of nightmares. I will not let any more innocent people die just for thier basic right for believing in and living in freedom.

We are doing all we can and I pray for the safety of the Islin. Good night my fellows."

Islin Border Town

The Imperial Army had reached the town of Gita without encountering any rebel forces. The civilians of the town cheered as they saw the banner of the Imperial Army come down the road. They were saved.

"This is General Ikbar of the Imperial Army. Please gather all your belongings and report to one of the evacuation tents. We do not have much time as the rebel....."

At that moment an RPG hit one of the evacuation trucks, which was luckily empty.

"Enemy! All Civilians find cover immediatly! Defence Tactic Beta!"

At the command, Imperial soldiers took their defensive positions and moved forward with slowly. They were fired at by a group of men further down the road.

"Defend the town! Capture the combatants alive if possible!"

The soldiers fired back, trying to aim for non lethal shots. The first battle of Islin had begun.

It seemed that the soldiers had taken up position trying to protect the Evacuee transports while the rebels were using the buildings as cover and pounding on the soldiers with small arms and RPG's. "The rebels would most likely win this fight", he thought "they have the upper hand in terrain, plus they aren't trying to defend civilians". Bishop Dwight looked at the message he had received and replied.

"My political beliefs? To have all men equal under Our Lord. I am trying to save those following paths that lead to damnation when I offer them salvation. This is more than a rebellion. This is the dawn of an era when Londim's Emperor falls forever, letting instead the righteous reign!"

I am heartened to see such commitment. What we will need are materials to rebuild the infrastruture of Islin once the rebellion is over and some food aid to the damaged regions. Presently it is impossible to send in aid groups while heavy fighting continues. Our forces can only do so much for the civilians.

The battle had been going on for 2 hours now. Scout groups had entered the civilian buildings and were evacuating them away from the village. Some Armoured Vehicles had arrived with additional support and to try and get to the wounded. Both sides had occured losses and the battle was drawing to a close.

"Cease your fire!" commanded General Ikbar. The Army guns fell silent as did the area around them. It seemed the rebels had gone away for now. However not all had escaped. Some wounded rebels lay in the street.

"Medics. Heal our wonded and try to keep those men the rebels, alive. I want to know all the information they know about rebel bases. Everyone else, I want the rest of the civilians taken out of here ASAP. Call in reinforcements. They will be back and this time we shall be ready for them."

Attack infantry and medics came out of the barracks and approached the wreckage, the main objective to see if the Emperor of Areona was still alive and take him to safety where he would be questioned about the co pilot. And when we say we will arm you, we mean nuclear, chemical and biological. So think hard.

Bishop Dwight laughed with glee, like a child would on Christmas morning finding the perfect gift. He replied instantly.

Tsar Schuck,

I am deeply interested in what you have to offer my people and I. You can be assured that your involvement will be a secret known only to me and my closest General. With your help, the Emperor can fall to his knees and beg mercy for his sins.

Bishop Dwight.

The pilot of one of the Gunship got up slowly and dusted him self up. Emperor Marcus Resantole smiled to him self, looked as though having a double was a good idea after all.

Tarsona capital of Areona

The capital build stood 3 stories high glistening white in sun light. It was surrounded by a 8 foot concrete wall and fence. Lenard sat at his desk in the guard house boredly watching the television. He didn’t even see the white van until it was too late. It slammed in to the guard house and exploded with the force of 10,000 pounds of TNT. 80 armed men stormed the capital building killing any guards and ministers as they could find.
Some 350 rebels now had almost complete control of the city and were systematically killing civilians and government officials.

12 miles away on top of vasil hill 50 armed men assaulted the governments’ radio center and took control of the transmitter, killing all 35 employees. They inserted a Disk that repeated the same message again and again. “Cast off the shackles of oppression and support Bishop Dwight he is our salvation and our freedom.”

Tarsona Police HQ

They had been taken by surprise but the some 70 officers were holding their ground keeping a 8 block area around the police station safe. Captain Carlos Fredric place a phone call to Fort Stanton.

A board controller answer. “Hello Fort Stanton…”
He was cut off by Fredric “ok cut the crap, this is Captain Fredric from the TPD get Me General Nelson.”
“One moment sir”, The controller sounded scared shitless, just the way Fredric liked his subordinates.

The Generals voice chimed in “ Fredric how’s it going?”
“Just fucken wonderful General. We got hostiles numbering in the hundreds here. Suicide bombers, guerrilla soldiers, you name it you got it. We are completely cut off from the capitol building and need immediate back up.”
Nelson said nothing for a moment, “Hold on there Fredric we’re on our way”.

Fort Stanton
Alarm Bells rang and the 100th Mechanize Infantry and 7th Armed prepared to roll out. All kinds of shit was about to fall down on the capital and that shit was called the Areona Armed Forces.

OOC: You can't control one of my people without permission. I'm guessing it was a mistake but remember that for future reference.

Bishop Dwight looked at the message and replied.

Tsar Schuck,

We shall require small arms, such as sub machine guns, automatic rifles and the like. Nothing major yet. Doing so would put you in jeopardy of being discovered.

The plane glided off the run way with no proplems, it was quite a cloudy night but the plane touched down in Londim with no proplems. Comander Waterrush stepped off the plane, the cold air hit the back of his troat with such speed that it made him cough a little.

When the plan landed a lot of car headlights lit up the area at Islin's local Airport. This was rebel held territory. The plane was surrounded by rebel soldiers aiming their guns towards the pilot. Bishop Dwight stepped forward into the light accompanied by his personal bodyguards.

"It is good to see you have arrived safely.", he said with a smile.

Waterush nodded towards Bishop Dwight and said "Thank you, it is, isn't it?" He then walked towards the Bishop and extended his hand out for a hand shake. "So whats the plan of action then? Please do tell us everything" grinned Waterush.

"A man who likes to get straight to the point. I like that. As you can see this entire area is under my mens control. The Emperor's troops are still stuck at the edge of Islin and will be held back for a considerable amount of time. Marcus doesn't want to commit his entire army to this operation for fear of bringing more damage to the area than needed. We have trucks that will transport your goods to various areas which my men hold. You and your people will be kept up to date with enemy movements and be notified of any changes to our deal. This is not some little skirmish your government is supporting, this is a real war with a lot at stake." said Bishop Dwight.
