Greal and I had a thought on an RP. Think a bit of Future Tech mixed with Fantasy Tech. Future is provided only for those species that can't use natural abilities or fantasy tech.
War has broken out on Aurora, a planet overgrown with forest and with few small oceans in between. There are mountains to the north and some plains to the south leading into tropics with rain forests. Humans have been growing, intending to spread out and populate the planet with their growing population. Unfortunately, they weren't the only species in the area. With the territory of others all pressing in, nobody has any wiggle room and the spark for a territorial war has begun. Humans on the planet have been losing from the start, but they hope to soon turn that around. Meanwhile, the other species hope to dig in and claim this planet as their own, without the interference of others. The largest of the controlled areas belong to the humans, but their control has been shrinking steadily so far.
Until the clamor for land, the species have been coexisting somewhat peacefully. They didn't necessarily get along, but they didn't always have reason for war so long as they had what they needed to get by. With the war raging on, it's doubtful that everyone will come out of here with enough land for their population or more than a few remnants for a population. Yes, there will be some that thrive, but this is about a lust for land, and getting as much as one species can.
Any species is welcome to join in so long as we can find information on it. If it is of your own creation, please include a few details about it that set them apart from others.
We're looking at something medium sized, so a few groups of warriors/soldiers for each species duking it out is the general idea.
Here's the information we need. Please limit your technologies and powers to avoid god-modding. Ie. Don't screw everyone else over. If someone has a complaint about someone else's tech/powers, we'll deal with it.

Probably 4 groups, no more than 50 in each group. I suppose it is your choice.

Tech you wish to claim for your species: rudimentary MT, such as titanium crossbows/bows, use of synthetic fibers Kevlar etc., computers and electronics based around magic, extensive knowledge of natural sciences, and agricultural sciences, have knowledge of FT I.E. they know how Future Technologies things work, but choose not to implement them, as they find many of them childish, and short sighted.
Short bio on the species: The elves generally keep to the forests, and keep to themselves, find humans tedious to talk to, and rather dimwitted, but will, if the need arises, in tune with nature, and tend to the forests, as if it were their children.

I'll be alright with this so long as you're willing to have them be either a faction that split off from my group or a subset that listens to my rulers. Sorry, but I did say earlier that I was using elves.

You are not controlling one group that may attack or be attacked, unless you want to of course. I'm predicting a majority of us will use more than one group of warriors. The first appearance is for your king while the next is what your generals will look like. I don't need a lot of detail, just enough so we get a picture of them.
And with a little more reading, it looks like your elves are more of a split faction than a subgroup to mine.

Race: Elves
Head of State's Name: Queen Ti'Lin
Appearance: Tall, even for an elf, though a little wider than normal too. Usually in simple robes or ornate armor.
Names of group leaders: Ta'Nier, Ta'Groe, Ta'Rah, and Ta'Vieu
General appearances: They prefer a traditional styled leather armor, but with bronze plates on the chest, forearms, and shins.
Powers your species may posses: Magic correlating to their subspecies, abnormally long lifespan for a mortal being, stronger (though more brittle) than a human as well as faster and relatively intelligent
Tech you wish to claim for your species: As with most fantasy geared species, modern tech mixed with their traditions.
Short bio on the species: They've grudgingly accepted modern technology as a necessity if they hope to win, or at least not loose, though they are deeply steeped in their traditions. Though preferring to keep to themselves, they want some growing room like everyone else. They find most other species to have the mentality of a child, but they do recognize the occasional exception within those groups. They are in tune with all forms of nature, but sub species are better with their own element (Water, Earth, Fire, and Air respective to my group leaders). They try their best to keep their traditions strong, but are not afraid to use modern technology to augment their strength if the need arises. Each subspecies usually keeps to their own tribe. Occasionally wanderers will band together and work together to survive, but they don't interact much. With everyone pushing for more territory, they saw a need to cooperate for if they could get more land for everyone, they could be further apart and everyone would have more room to roam.

Short bio on the species: The Murk Dwellers, are one of the oldest races on (insert planet name here). General appearances of above leaders: Minator-demon with six tentacles out of their backs, height between 6 foot and 6 foot 5 and each commander is fit.

The Fungi are a violent military race that was put down by the Vamperial Empire of Lynion (FT) during the Third Fungi War. The minator's were the original Fungi but during the 3 Fungi Wars, they were forced to mutate spieces (mentioned above) to help them do their bidding. The huntsman spider is mutated to a height of 18 foot tall (max) and acts as a transport for Minator's, siege weapon or as a tank. Dragons mutated to a height of 17 foot and is deisgned for aerial combat as well as acting as air support. Mutated Wedge-Tail eagles grow to around 14 foot and were used as disrupting supply convoy's and reinforcements. They can pick up most things off the ground but are later forced to drop them due to the weight or they can think of a use for them. The mutated Sea Serpent acts as the Fungi water units when they required to disrupt supply convoy's and transport convoy's. Sea Serpents hunt in large packs longside giant squids which acts as a distraction to the convoy while the serpents bring down enemy warships.

A lot of this (*cough* adaptive shields *cough*) sounds pretty powerful. Just watch a few things that could border on godmodding eventually and you'll be alright. Also, you say "a few others select techs." Can you be a bit more specific? If you have nothing to add right now, just ask before you do too much with them.
And a general warning to anyone who bases themselves from space, go easy on the massive destruction from above. Not all of us can get out there.

Sounds alright. Just remember that there isn't much in the way of large bodies of water on Aurora.
Another note is that if Greal says something contrary to me, we'll discuss it and post a compromise.

Borg cube and really miscellaneous general tech(for example Dune personnel shields (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holtzman_effect#Holtzman_shield)(with my own twist), Metroid laser/plasma guns and armor, and I'll make sure to telegram you and Greal before I debute anything overdone and/or outline anything special in the first post)(afraid I haven't had time to really flesh out the Technonauts as much as I'd like so there abilities/weaknesses are still up in the air)
2. The main sphere isn't going to stay in orbit for every long so don't have to worry about me.(I'm thinking a virus causes it to crash but haven't fully fleshed out the idea yet)

Mobile Armor - Large combat suites that are essentially small MECHs. Armed with heavy armor and light Deflector shields for anti-laser defenses. Point defense chain guns are mounted at certain points in the armor. Offensive weapon include a single back mounted UAV, and interchangeable shoulder and arm-mounted weapons. (Raiders only)
Heavy Tank- "Bolo class" A massive Tank. Outfitted with medium strength deflector shields as well as point defenses, VLS systems, a Heavy Coil Gun and theater defense ABM systems. As well as shorter range Cannon and miniguns. (Army Only)
Powered Armor- A standard combat suite. Built in HUD, reactive armor and an emergency jump system are all built into this system. (Airforce, Navy)
Heavy Armor- Similar to the Mobile suite but without shield and point defense. This system gives the wearer more armor and the ability to carry slightly heavier weapons than powered armor. (Army Only)
Pinance:A space Capable ship. Designed primarily as a transport it has laser point defenses and a single primary Laser which acts as it primary attack weapon. It can outpace any pure Air-breathing Fighter with ease. (Navy Only)
ACS- The Air Combat Ship is an atmospheric Strike Fighter designed as both an Air-superiority and close support platform. Armed with auto Cannons, and a pair of Small lasers as well as this Ship had the capability to carry both standoff weapons and bombs in a single "bomb bay". (airforce)
AI- Limited AI's are integral to ever Piece of equipment including powered armor. Two self Sufficient AI-s are present at Hardhold, the original crash site.
Micro-Factories- Two survived the Ships crash and have been used to make a pair more, giving the ASD'ians the ability to create most of everything they need but without resources they are incapable of functioning.
Battle Blades: Primarily a ceremonial weapon, every Member of the Woadraiders is highly trained in bladed and unarmed combat. This was a discipline exercise until the Creation of single molecular edged blades. These can cut through practically anything and have become useful again but their limited range make them useless on conventional battlefields. In recent history only two Woadraiders have gotten confirmed Battle Blade kills both in cases where the marines had run out of ammunition completely. One Marine died shortly after of massive wounds though the other, Admiral Hawk (then Sargent Hawk), survived proving the weapons more than just props.
Short bio on the species: One of ten Battlecruisers sent to explore the galaxy after the ASD decided to end its long exile, the ASDSS "Farstrider" discovered this planet relatively quickly. Unfortunately a technical malfunction ended with the Battlecruiser crashing, VERY hard, into the planet. During this time the members of the ship had gone into Stasis, in order to better survive the landing and an unknown period of time later emerged onto this world. The First order of business was to attempt a repair of the ship but that proved impossible without resources available elsewhere so, after warming up their dogs of war, The ASDSF personnel Set up a military base around the Battlcruiser's Remains and are about to begin an attempted expansion out of the mountains. The ships are essentially the best of the best available to the ASDSF. The ASDSF have good tech but they are somewhat lacking in personnel as despite their advanced tech, they have a low population base to work off and no civilian back-up. Certain codes of military justice have been suspended surrounding relationships within the military but none the less the birth rate is essentially Zero for the time being.

Appearance of HoS: 30s, tall, hairy, black hair. In wolf form, similar to all others.
Names of group leaders: Pack Leader Adolf Kasmir, Clan President Lucas Oben
General appearances of above leaders: Tall, 30s to 40s, hairy, both with brown hair. Wolf form similar to all others.
Powers your species may posses: Ability to transform into wolves at will, enhanced senses of smell and enhanced hearing, when in wolf form immune to anything except holy water and silver.
Tech you wish to claim for your species: Fantasy/PMT
Short bio on the species: After being cast out from their original homeland because of their werewolf condition, the race wandered for hundreds of years before reaching their idealic area. Rather barbaric, the race is still split with internal fights. They keep to the woods and mountains during the day, but come out and hunt at night. They are known to use modern and fantasy weapons in combat. The average man is scared of fire.

@Siloin: Good, but the wolf form seems nearly invulnerable. I hate to burst your bubble, but if one gets set on fire or hit with rockets, it will have to hurt. They can be exceptionally strong, but that's overkill.

It's currently bring a brat and not letting me type up anything good right now, so, ya. And we've already got a location picked out, Aurora. In the OP of this thread, I gave a rough description of the northern hemisphere. I say northern because it doesn't fit for anything past the equator.
A planet overgrown with forest and with few small oceans in between. There are mountains to the north and some plains to the south leading into tropics with rain forests.

@Siloin: Good, but the wolf form seems nearly invulnerable. I hate to burst your bubble, but if one gets set on fire or hit with rockets, it will have to hurt. They can be exceptionally strong, but that's overkill.

A bullet to the brain is still a bullet to the brain, and will kill an EH just as simply as any human, even if they can regenerate from moderate wounds. As you may have guessed, i'm a big Heroes fan.

Short bio on the species:
The kraknov once lived on a verdant green world. However a demonic invasion and subsequent nuclear war reduced most of it to a barren wasteland. The race now becomes desperate as it's food sources are rapidly depleting. However, the discovery of portal technology to this green world has tempted them into invading it. Though most are horribly mutated, they all share the same humanoid appearance with claws on hands and feet, and two lines of spikes going from the forehead, and over the head to the back of the neck.
Types:
Unmutated, have pale skin and lack mutations, wield dual swords or rifles
Snipers, have mechanical eyes to assist in sniping, very weak
Mindless, mutation has driven their intelligence to a point where they are little more than animals, look like unmutated, however, with pink skin and hunched over
Cyborg, an unmutated with mechanical limbs and part of the torso
Four arms, four armed mutants with partially chitinous skin
Behemoths, huge mutants that act as tanks and carry explosive weapons
Cyber Elite, cyborgs covered with steel armor, have claw weapons
Reapers, elite killers that wield sycths and pistols, work as elite for the council
Psykers, the leaders of the race, extremely weak and malformed, but have psychic powers

Appearance of HoS: Stands roughly 8 feet tall, muscular, but not overly so. White skin, unlike all others of his race. Deep red eyes, bald, with horns on his head. Glowing orange, tattoo-like inscriptions all over his body, when not covered by his white and gold plate armor.
Names of group leaders: Short of a war council, there are just ranks of Dremora that command others in the field
General appearances of above leaders: Generally like foot soldiers, to avoid standing out.
Powers your species may posses: Relatively strong magic, at the cost of having only bows, swords, and the like as physical weaponry [is that ok?]
Tech you wish to claim for your species: None really...
Short bio on the species: The Dremora populated Aurora through a series of large, imposing gates that opened around the planet, from which they flooded out. They quickly gathered in the Northeastern area of the large continent, killing anything that came into their territory. They are not good friends with any race, however, the elves (a perverted version of which Dremora stemmed) are the reason the Dremora came to this planet. Appearance of HoS: Slightly larger than most Coboli with a mane and beard of violet hair. Wears cobalt mail and red mantle. He has one eye missing and a flame-shaped patch of iridescent scales on his forehead.
Names of group leaders: Marshal-Salamander Bortred, Marshal-Serpent Findel, Marshal-Unicorn Hodek
General appearances of above leaders:
Bortred: Stocky and muscular. he wears Cobalt plate armour and a red cloak. He has grey-blue hair in a topknot and uses a two-handed axe. He has a flame-shaped scale patch on his forehead.
Findel: Slim and lightly built. Has plaited white hair and beard. One eye is missing. he wears green robes and has a gem-topped staff. He has a teardrop shaped green scale patch on his forehead.
Hodek: Broad-shouldered and tall(ish). Bald but with a silvery beard. He wears a black breatplate and silver tabbard and uses an ornate sword carved from horn. he has a unicorn-style horn protruding from his head.
powers your species may possess: Very long-lived and hardy. They have an uncanny ability to mimic handwriting etc. and have very keen senses. Some (mostly Serpent caste but some others) can use magic.
Tech you wish to claim for your species: MT with some PT elements and a special kind of weapon called a Slemender which fires a "beam" of extreme heat.
Short bio on the species: The Coboli are about half the height of a human being and similar in appearance, except for their strange hair colours, sharp teeth, tufted tails, caste marks (on forehead) and large feline eyes. They can make and use fairly efficient automatic weaponry (generally assault rifles etc.) but prefer close combat. For protection they are pretty much limited to traditional armour styles but make them very well from a special form of cobalt. They also employ a small number of Grobrach, a much larger (1.5 times the size of a human) and stronger "subspecies". They wear plate armour and only use (very well made but visually unremarkable) hammers. They have a human appearance but with no hair, eyebrows etc, pointed ears, large noses and small dark eyes. Each group has about 10-20 of these.
