Quick Overview
Using a deadly combination of napalm and white phosphorous gel, blessed by the priests of Inquisition to ensure that any demons possessing those purged by it will be banished from Earth for hundreds of years, with its ammunition stored into a double-walled pressurized fuel/igniter canisters, and loaded into the specifically tailored magazine of a compact, lightweight, much more ergonomic design with a better balance and safety than the flamethrowers of old, the IJ-7 Flamethrower is a viable close-quarters combat weapon, particularly useful for tunnel fighting, and a powerful psychological weapon against heathens like Scientologists and average thugs.

Description
For a long time, flamethrowers have been deemed too unpractical and bulky for even close quarters combat, and indeed, the original, backpack based flamethrowers are more of a threat to their wielder than to its enemies, and no matter how powerful of a suppressive weapon it was, it soon has fallen into disuse with the advent of modern warfare. Disciplined forces would easily learn how to exploit flamethrowers by shooting on their backpacks, outranging and out-flanking their wielders, who could otherwise be much more effective in combat by using a battle rifle. Instead, flamethrowers were widely used to burn innocents by the Satanic puppet governments of Nazi Germany and Japan, in countless atrocities that have only served to further bury the flamethrower into oblivion together with many of its operational issues, as atrocities during wars began to be taken with greater relevance. Regardless, flamethrowers had a brief reuse as the infamous napalm was developed and upgraded.
However, the Inquisition of the Holy Republic has always sought a flame weapon, both to put fear into the dark souls of the heathens and scum and as an additional close quarters battle weapon, and for its symbolic meaning, for fire has always been a symbol of cleansing among the tenets of the Inquisition. Thus it was only logical that an extensive research would be conducted to achieve such end. The set goals were quite ambitious: to develop a portable flamethrower as lightweight as the M202A1 FLASH incendiary rocket launcher, with at an effective range of at least ninety meters and a highly efficient fuel which would allow it to achieve the same results of an old flamethrower with a significantly smaller amount of flamethrower fuel. Or in other words, something as useful as a psychological weapon as it would be for specific situations, particularly likely to occur in urban and jungle warfare conditions, which considering the landscape of Prazinia, would correspond to ninety percent of all battlefields should an internal conflict happen.
A weapons engineer of the Inquisition named Josef Korenchkin have been the one to finally come with a concept for a viable flamethrower. Titled Inkvizitor Josef 7 as it was his seventh project for a flamethrower after six not exactly successful prototypes, and despite his previous failures, it was the most ambitious of all of them, and the only which managed to achieve the arguably nearly impossbile milestones set by the project. It was nearly as lightweight as a M202A1 FLASH, thanks to the extensive use of metal and ceramics matrix composites, which offer better heat resistance than conventional steel at a reduced weight, save for specific internal components which would fare better built from parkerized or stamped steel for both economical and practical reasons, like the igniter control switch and the canister magazine receiver. Likewise, the reduction of weight is much more related to the development of a new brand of high-efficiency Napalm/White-phosphorous fuel and of the implementation of a RDX liquid propellant, the same used by variable pressure electrothermal-chemical weapons of the newest tanks, instead of hydrogen. In fact, the basic implementation of this new propellant could probably be reused for a plasma ignited tank flamethrower based on ETC technology. Thus, with both propellant and fuel being more efficient, a higher rate of fire is no longer necessary, allowing for smaller individual ammunition loads. As a tradition of the Inquisition, every canister is also blessed by a priest, in a similar way to how holy water is blessed in many Christian denominations, or how, in a mockery of the true faith, unholy water is cursed in pagan religions. With intense faith and blessings, the flamer gel acquires the capability of banishing and exorcising the demons possessing those it kills, trapping them from corrupting Earth for seven hundred years. As such blessing cannot be given to bullets or rockets, the IJ-7 Flamethrower a very important weapon for the Inquisition, for while other weapons will allow the demons to corrupt others, the IJ-7 ensures that no one shall be corrupted to take the place the vile man who has been cleansed.
As for the arguably more challenging matter of achieving the same effective range of a shotgun with Frag-12 ammunition, the propellant and the internal action have been extremely important. The large diameter of the nozzle is deceptive for those expecting an immense ball of fire to come from it, for it is essentially in such way to allow for an internal configuration of looping igniter tubes, which shape allow them to stand better the high pressures of the RDX liquid propellant, which in turn allow for the gel to be launched with a higher velocity than that of most flamethrowers, extending their range reasonably well for those who don't give ears to New World Order puppet Human Right organizations.
However, what truly differs it from most flamethrowers combat-wise is the ability of firing bursts of flamer gel which are more than enough for cleansing one or a group of nearby enemies through select-fire, where a short pull of the flamer trigger will start a burst, while a long pull will trigger automatic fire, allowing it to conserve ammunition better than most of its kind, improving its longevity as a practical weapon, while the relatively light weight of canister allow an operator to have an extra one, or even two depending on the circumstances, without the same hindrance to mobility old flamethrowers gave.
The ammunition feed system has two separate receivers, one for the igniter propellant, and one of the fuel. The first packs a feeder duct of its own, which can be connected through a bisected duct receiver, with a set of two flexible folding railings in the gun fixing and moving the canister to the exact position it must be placed at to ensure the feeder duct connects with the receiver duct of the gun. On the other hand, the igniter is fed through an aperture right above the canister, which is opened by a bolt in the igniter receiver component of the magazine at the moment it is inserted in its place. The magazine release is a large, easily reachable lever right ahead of the flamer trigger, which will immediately open the bisected half of the receiver duct into two pieces and release the canister. Letting empty canisters drop on the ground like some soldiers do with their spent magazines is not recommended, and refueling canister is a relatively easy process that any basic military camp can provide, and certainly more cost-effective than buying a new canister.
Like any decent flamethrower, the IJ-7 can be attached through either a bipod or tripod to an emplacement, vehicle or riverboat, while it was also all its human interface components are entirely modular, allowing them to be removed and replaced with increased ammunition storage with ducts to connect to internal stowages, among other adaptations and improvements for a remotely operated weapons system, giving origin to the IJ-7R, which not only is fully compatible with the CROWS and easily adaptable to most existing ROWS, but also built-in with a targeting camera, which given an adequate fire control system, could allow for it to achieve superior accuracy as a secondary weapon for an armored vehicle, like for example the M113.
